Wow, that fits Mal to a tee. Except that Mal knows he isn't in a position to change much ( at present ), and is content w/ merely being left alone...if he can. Romantic? I'd say that's a big 'yes'.

that is so gorram true of mal... he tried the "change the things you can" and didnt quite get there, noe he will just sit and contemplate how to play the players.

Nope, I'd have to disagree. I think the quote's a good one, but not for Mal. He wasn't trying to change a government, just prevent it from coming about. He's most certainly not the "romantic" type--more a cynical realist. And as for spreading discontent to the true romantics--well, the Captain doesn't get out much, and when he does it's mostly with the criminal element, not potential revolutionaries.

i think Mal was a romantic, until the battle of Serenity valley. After all, he lost his faith there.
