One very important part of the Campaign is letting the world know about the greatness of Firefly and the upcoming Serenity movie. So how do you folks do it and which method works best ?
Do you make posters and postcards, do some browncoats post on other message boards and alert people on other sites about Serenity. Have you loaned out your DVD to friends / cousins over the Holiday Season?
I know there are some Farscape fans that are also fans of Firefly, do you think some of the methods used by the Farscape fans would work well with Firefly/Serenity ?

I give the Firefly dvd set to people as a gift.
This holiday season another five sets went out from me to friends who hadn't yet watched the show.
When I get the inevitable "why did they cancel this show?!?!" phone call after they have run through the discs, I inform my friends that the Serenity film is on the horizon!

How do I spread the word? I just never stop talking about Firefly. I went to my boss to schedule the day off for September 30th. She asked me why and I told her that was the day "Serenity" premieres. She said, "Isn't that in April?" So I guess she was listening.
Also, one of the most preppy and UN-sci-fi appreciative people I know stopped me at work and said "I was Christmas shopping and I saw the Firefly dvd set and thought of you."
I guess the key for me is to continually reference the show (and wear my Firefly apparel on a regular basis) until people start paying attention...or beat me with the chain of command. Whichever comes first.

I lend folks my old VCDs. Hold on to the DVD set (treasure it like a rain stick). On my last two business trips I played the DVD's in the airport while waiting to board my flight. A couple people started watching. It didn't work as well as I wanted because I couldn't set the Laptop up in a place that would catch a lot of people's attention.

1. Go to 11th Hour's excellent Firefly guerilla marketing poster site:
http://home.att.net/~the11thhour/
2. Go to Kinko's and print out a bunch of copies -- I find that the mini-posters (quarter page) on orange neon paper works well.
3. Post them in every bulletin board, book shop, coffee house, community center, university, etc. in town (anywhere it's not illegal).
4. Laugh evilly
Jayne, your mouth is talkin. Might want to look into that.

This probably doesn't count much since they had alreay watched the show on FOX and Space a little. But my brother and his girlfriend, who I share an apartment with, recently got a DVD player for Xmas. So I told them if they ever wanted to borrow any of my DVDs, they were welcome, but I only had a couple (X-Men, X-men 2, Spider-Man 2, and the Firefly ones). So a couple days later they asked to borrow the Firefly ones. They're just about on the last disk already, having watched a few every night since then.

I'm a fanfic writer, and I've been known to crossover Firefly with my main fandom (Blakes7), creating at least a nibble of curiosity in each fandom about the other.

In July, there will be a Sci-Fi convention where I'm at. Some friends and I are trying to see if we can get a room to have a Serenity Party since the release date is within a couple months.

I run a Firefly RPG campaign, and occasionally run one-shots.
I also gave the DVD set to a family member for Christmas, and he watched the complete series in a few days (hook, line, and sinker!)

I say "Hey, this is a damn good show. Watch it."
It works with most of my friends as soon as I tell them Joss Whedon did it. I got them hooked on Buffy, I got 'em hooked on Angel, and I'll get 'em hooked on this, too.
Simon: You...you came for us.
Mal: You're on my crew.
Simon: Right. I guess I just didn't...you don't even like me.
Mal: You're on my crew. Why we still talking about this?

I just watched it for the first time this past weekend and was sad to see that it was so shortlived.
I went on Amazon and recommended it in "addition to" every sci fi thing I could find :) Dunno if that'll do any good, but can't hurt. I bought it because we liked Buffy.
Also bought another two DVD sets, one of which I'm sending to my sister and one which I'll pass around my friends. Good tv is hard to come by. It's nice there will be a movie, but an hour a week is a far better fix for something you like than 2 hours a year!

I started writing stuff on one dollar bills.
In the very narrow space between the main bill print and the edge of the bill I wrote these 3 phrases.
1. Firefly, Keep Flying!
2. www.serenitymovie.net
3. Join the crusade
Item 1 in the upper left
item 2 in the upper right
item 3 in the bottom center
get a new bill and repeat. Then spend them and get more.
You can, of course, insert any other website that you choose. Also be aware that when either the federal reserve or local banks find money like this it's set aside for destruction. The term for this is "mutilated money". Such bills have either been ripped, worn thin, or in this case defaced. So spend them locally. Don't exchange them at banks for more 1's or the bank will earmark them and they'll be doomed.
Do not fear me. Ours is a peaceful race, and we must live in harmony.

Well I am a hardcore scaper and have done a lot to get the word out about that show.
-If you can host a fan table at a convention. Toronto Trek is just 25 bucks.
- Talk it up everywhere on message boards. On several boards I am nicknamed the Farscape Maven
-Buy merchandise and wear. I am off to purchase some cool stuff from 11th hour. This really works. I have a Farscape button and won't believe how much attention it gets.
I have a few more suggestions but that is all I can think of right now and I have to go :)

I grab random kids in my dorms and with the promise of a couple of free beers (and the rep as a good judge of entertainment) I hook these hapless youngsters on the Firefly verse. It's worse than handing out pixie stixs at a daycare.
It usually only takes the first episode and I have them coming over after work to get in a couple eps a night. I've watched the series probably 20-30 times since I bought the DVD's last fall. (But I love it every time)

Isn't it fun kindling an obsession in someone? ;)
Someone in fact asked me about my Serenity button yesterday :)

I've misplaced it now, but one site recommends donating a set to your local public library.
I've ordered another set from Overstocks.com (same price as the used ones at Amazon) for just that purpose.
How many people will have at least browsed the shelf at the library between now and September (or whatever the revised release date turns out to be)?
And there's the bonus that I won't have to explain my obsession to all of them personally.

I am trying to convince my friends to watch my dvd's. Which works for some of them, but some of them don't listen.
And I posted about it several times at www.lost-forum.com, to all of the Lost fans, but they mostly ignore me. :) I have managed to convince a few people.
I think I'm gonna try to go to some other tv show message boards, and post on them.

I've taken to singing the Ballad of Serenity into the court record during bench trials. For jury trials I have been challenging for cause any juror who has negative feeling about Firefly or admits to having no desire to see the movie. I don't know if its helping get people excited about the movie, but I'm undefeated in court this summer, so its seems to be working pretty well.

Heh, I drive a cab, people talk, and wanna be talked back to, keepin up the patter is part of that personal touch that nets the tips, you see...
All too easy to slide in a plug or two about our show, which in comparison to the crap on the idiotbox now, welllll.
Also converted the staff of the local video store, and happened to know some folks in the local upper-echelon management of borders, whom I invited over for sociality and then went "Hey, let's watch a movie!"...
Heheheheh, and slipped DVD#1 into the player.
I fight so very, very dirty...

That's going to have me laughing all day, Hero.
I've been converting friends by persuading them to watch just one episode (only 42 minutes! go on!) with me. Then we watch the first half of 'Serenity' and I switch it off just after River has been discovered in the box (which is where the gap is between the two episodes). So far, I'm batting 100% on people begging to see the second half with me, and after that they're hooked.
