Demented Libtards in a rush to falsify evidence for the Committee on the Fake Insurrection.

Also, we now all know that Trump actually won WI, AZ, and GA - meaning he won the honest version of the Electoral College, if not the Fraudulent 2020 version.

Trump blames V.P. Mike Pence for his loss in 2020. If Pence had left the Capitol without certifying the votes by the Electoral College, then the states get to pick the President in a Contingent Election, where each state only gets one vote. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contingent_election

Pence almost left the Capitol, but then changed his mind because leaving would be cowardly. Donald Trump posted a tweet attacking his own vice president for lacking “the courage” to overturn the election for him - enraging his Jan. 6 mob even further - just minutes after learning that Mike Pence had been removed from the Senate chamber for his own safety.

Since Republicans control more states, Trump wins in a Contingent Election, but Pence did not leave the Capitol, which is why Trump is still blaming Pence for Trump's loss. It is no more complicated than the plot of Knives Out (2019).

Trump says Pence has been 'mortally wounded' within GOP (Watch on YouTube)

The protesters were absolutely not armed. It's in the report to Congress. If they were there to carry out a coup, or even for violence, you'd THINK (assuming, of course, YOU can think!) they'd have brought a LITTLE bit more of something than the sticks they used to hold up their signs.

So what happened?

The situation spiraled out of control b/c the police were completely undermanned and unequipped. They couldn't have controlled a small-sized riot. They couldn't even manage simple crowd control. The sheer force of bodies overwhelmed them.

Just because the police failed, doesn't mean the protesters were there to do harm. By their complete lack of any weapons, obviously they weren't.

And that's a fact nobody has explained away - or even mentioned - in the shitstorm of propaganda.

It was fucking theater and it was allowed to happen.

On any other given day, had any of those dumb fucks tried getting into those buildings they'd have been thrown right out on their asses if they were lucky, and hauled away in cuffs otherwise.

Anybody who believes that the events that took place on January 6th were either a coup or an insurrection is just letting you know in big bright letters that they are a mindless cultist.

I'm a fan of sci-fi and time travel. So the key part of this fantasy, for me, is where this insurrection happened an hour and a half before Trump supposedly encouraged the activity. So either all these Libtards went forward in time to get the instructions from Trump, before falling back in time to perpetrate - or else Trump traveled back in time to encourage this group before returning to our regularly scheduled timeline.

Ex-Army Generals Fear Insurrection or 'Civil War' in 2024

https://www.newsweek.com/army-generals-insurrection-civil-war-2024-don
ald-trump-january-6-1660842

Three retired U.S. Army generals have warned of insurrection or possibly even civil war if the results of the 2024 presidential election are not accepted by sections of the military.

Retired Major Generals Paul D. Eaton and Antonio M. Taguba joined retired Brigadier General Steven M. Anderson urged today's leaders to act to prevent such scenes, calling on today's leaders to "war-game" an attempted coup.

In an op-ed for The Washington Post published on Friday, the former military leaders said they were "increasingly concerned" about the "potential for lethal chaos inside our military, which would put all Americans at severe risk" in the aftermath of the election.

They warned of the potential for "total breakdown of the chain of command along partisan lines" and the risk of a "shadow government" led by a losing candidate who refuses to concede defeat, directly referencing former President Donald Trump.

"In short: We are chilled to our bones at the thought of a coup succeeding next time," they wrote.

And they outlined four preventative steps they argue should be taken:

1) First, the leaders of the Capitol riot should be held accountable. They called on the Department of Justice, the House of Representatives' Select Committee investigating January 6 and Congress to "show more urgency."

2) Second, the Pentagon "should immediately order" a soldier review on the Constitution and electoral integrity, and on the laws of war and how to deal with an illegal order. "No service member should say they didn't understand whom to take orders from during a worst-case scenario," they wrote.

3) The Army's actions should also involve finding and removing "potential mutineers" and stopping efforts to subvert the chain of command through propaganda.

4) Finally, the generals advised the Department of Defense to war-game a potential insurrection or attempted coup following the 2024 presidential election "to identify weak spots" and deal with them.

In explaining their concerns, the generals pointed to the fact that some veterans and active duty personnel were involved in the storming of the Capitol on January 6 and expressed concern that divisions in wider society will affect military personnel.

"The potential for a total breakdown of the chain of command along partisan lines - from the top of the chain to squad level - is significant should another insurrection occur," the generals wrote. "The idea of rogue units organizing among themselves to support the 'rightful' commander in chief cannot be dismissed."

"Imagine competing commanders in chief - a newly reelected Biden giving orders, versus Trump (or another Trumpian figure) issuing orders as the head of a shadow government," they went on. "Worse, imagine politicians at the state and federal levels illegally installing a losing candidate as president."

Trump has continued to maintain the 2020 presidential election suffered from serious voter fraud and other irregularities that cost him victory—claims repeatedly rejected by the courts and in post-election audits. Many of Trump's Republican allies have also pushed these unsubstantiated claims.

The generals warned that while U.S. service members take an oath to uphold the Constitution, in the case of a disputed election, loyalties would be split and some might choose to follow orders from the losing candidate who does not accept defeat.

"Under such a scenario, it is not outlandish to say a military breakdown could lead to civil war," they wrote. If such a situation were to arise, the generals warn the enemies of the U.S. could take advantage of it.

Nonetheless, the generals seemed hopeful that could be prevented if Congress and the m

The military must prepare now for a 2024 insurrection

https://web.archive.org/web/20211218193450/https://www.washingtonpost.
com/opinions/2021/12/17/eaton-taguba-anderson-generals-military

By Paul D. Eaton, Antonio M. Taguba and Steven M. Anderson Dec. 17, 2021 at 5:05 p.m. EST

Paul D. Eaton is a retired U.S. Army major general and a senior adviser to VoteVets. Antonio M. Taguba is a retired Army major general, with 34 years of active duty service. Steven M. Anderson is a retired brigadier general who served in the U.S. Army for 31 years.

As we approach the first anniversary of the deadly insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, we — all of us former senior military officials — are increasingly concerned about the aftermath of the 2024 presidential election and the potential for lethal chaos inside our military, which would put all Americans at severe risk.

In short: We are chilled to our bones at the thought of a coup succeeding next time.

One of our military’s strengths is that it draws from our diverse population. It is a collection of individuals, all with different beliefs and backgrounds. But without constant maintenance, the potential for a military breakdown mirroring societal or political breakdown is very real.

The signs of potential turmoil in our armed forces are there. On Jan. 6, a disturbing number of veterans and active-duty members of the military took part in the attack on the Capitol. More than 1 in 10 of those charged in the attacks had a service record. A group of 124 retired military officials, under the name “Flag Officers 4 America,” released a letter echoing Donald Trump’s false attacks on the legitimacy of our elections.

Recently, and perhaps more worrying, Brig. Gen. Thomas Mancino, the commanding general of the Oklahoma National Guard, refused an order from President Biden mandating that all National Guard members be vaccinated against the coronavirus. Mancino claimed that while the Oklahoma Guard is not federally mobilized, his commander in chief is the Republican governor of the state, not the president.

The potential for a total breakdown of the chain of command along partisan lines — from the top of the chain to squad level — is significant should another insurrection occur. The idea of rogue units organizing among themselves to support the “rightful” commander in chief cannot be dismissed.
Early on Jan. 6, The Post's Kate Woodsome saw signs of violence hours before thousands of President Trump's loyalists besieged the Capitol. (Joy Yi, Kate Woodsome/The Washington Post)

Imagine competing commanders in chief — a newly reelected Biden giving orders, versus Trump (or another Trumpian figure) issuing orders as the head of a shadow government. Worse, imagine politicians at the state and federal levels illegally installing a losing candidate as president.

All service members take an oath to protect the U.S. Constitution. But in a contested election, with loyalties split, some might follow orders from the rightful commander in chief, while others might follow the Trumpian loser. Arms might not be secured depending on who was overseeing them. Under such a scenario, it is not outlandish to say a military breakdown could lead to civil war.

In this context, with our military hobbled and divided, U.S. security would be crippled. Any one of our enemies could take advantage by launching an all-out assault on our assets or our allies.

The lack of military preparedness for the aftermath of the 2020 election was striking and worrying. Trump’s acting defense secretary, Christopher C. Miller, testified that he deliberately withheld military protection of the Capitol before Jan. 6. Army Gen. Mark A. Milley, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, reportedly scrambled to ensure the nation’s nuclear defense chains were secure from illegal orders. It is evident the whole of our military was caught off-guard.

With the country still as divided as ever, we must take steps to prepare for the worst.

First, everything must be done to prevent another insurrection. Not a

US ‘closer to civil war’ than most would like to believe, new book says

Academic and member of CIA advisory panel says analysis applied to other countries shows US has ‘entered very dangerous territory’

The CIA actually has a taskforce designed to try to predict where and when political instability and conflict is likely to break out around the world. It’s just not legally allowed to look at the US. That means the CIA is blind to the risk factors that are rapidly emerging here.

But a book, How Civil Wars Start, in which those risk factors in the US are looked at using the CIA's method will be published in January. https://www.amazon.com/How-Civil-Wars-Start-Stop/dp/0593137787/

The US has fought a civil war, from 1861 to 1865, against states which seceded in an attempt to maintain slavery. Estimates of the death toll vary. The American Battlefield Trust puts it at 620,000 and says: “Taken as a percentage of today’s population, the toll would have risen as high as 6 million souls.”

The secessionists in 1861 accepted Lincoln’s election as fair and legitimate. The current situation is the opposite. Trump’s questioning of the election, which was at first rejected by Republican leaders after the attack on the Capitol, has led to a genuine crisis of legitimacy.

With Republicans’ hold on the levers of power while in the electoral minority a contributing factor, this crisis metastasizes, throughout the system over time, so that it’s possible any and all close elections will be claimed by Republicans to be false and fraudulent.

If rightwing militia groups were to seek to mimic the secessionists of the 1860s and attempt to seize federal forts and offices by force it would be over quickly given a very strong and firm sense at the top of the US military of its constitutional, non-political role.

But given the proliferation of guns, there could be any number of seemingly random acts of violence that come from organized militias, which are really vigilantes and with partisan agendas.

The real nightmare would be that kind of low-intensity conflict.

You need to cut the Second's out of your party before it becomes completely irrelevant.

America has a problem with people who get anxious about news stories that have absolutely no effect on their lives. Those kind of anxious and chicken-hearted people tend to vote for Trump. People who have chicken hearts, who are cowardly, who are prone to panic, are people who have never done well in America. This country runs very well for brave people. But for chickens? People who are too cowardly to quickly seek better jobs? People who won't bravely move to a new place with better opportunity? America has never treated those kind of cowardly people very well and those people resent getting their scared asses kicked by American businesses/bosses and those people have voted for Trump. Sorry to tell Trump voters and 6ix, but Trump is not gonna be able to fix what is wrong with you.

But why won't Trump fix you? Because he is one of those American businessmen and bosses who have been kicking your ass all your life. Trump knows exactly what you want, and will tell you he will give it to you, but he won't because he is a businessman. It is not to his advantage, once he is President, to give 6ix what he wants. And all the Republicans in Congress don't want to give it to you, either. If Trump voters weren't as stupid as chickens, they would have figured this out a long time ago, but I don't expect them to ever learn, no matter what happens. I don't expect them to ever act bravely around their bosses at work, either. Fear and trembling made them Trump voters. And I certainly don't expect them to remain sane. The news will always scare Trump voters into insanity.

“When one of the world’s leading scholars of civil war tells us that the United States stands at the brink of violent conflict, we should pay attention.”—Steven Levitsky and Daniel Ziblatt, authors of How Democracies Die

From Chapter 1:

U.S. soldiers found the fearsome dictator hiding in an eight-foot-deep hole near his hometown of Tikrit. He looked dirty and dazed. With Americans in charge, most Iraqis believed that their country would be reborn and that they would experience the freedom and opportunities available in Western countries. Families dreamed of experiencing true democracy. The military, and perhaps the judiciary, would be reformed. Corruption would end. Wealth, including oil profits, would be distributed more equally. Noor and her family were excited for independent newspapers and satellite TV. “We thought we would breathe freedom, we would become like Europe,” said Najm al-Jabouri, a former general in Saddams army. They were wrong.

When Saddam Hussein was captured, researchers who study democratization didn’t celebrate. We knew that democratization, especially rapid democratization in a deeply divided country, could be highly destabilizing. In fact, the more radical and rapid the change, the more destabilizing it was likely to be. The United States and the United Kingdom thought they were delivering freedom to a welcoming population. Instead, they were about to deliver the perfect conditions for civil war.

Iraq was a country plagued by political rivalries, both ethnic and religious. The Kurds, a large ethnic minority in the north, had long fought Saddam for autonomy; they wanted to be left alone to rule themselves. The Shia, who made up more than 60 percent of Iraq’s population, resented being ruled by Saddam Hussein, a Sunni, and his mostly Sunni Baath Party. Over decades, Saddam had been able to consolidate power for his minority group by stacking government positions with Sunnis.

Roger Stone throws Steve Bannon under the bus with accusation he directed Capitol "breach"

According to a report from the Daily Beast's Zachary Petrizzo, former Donald Trump associate Roger Stone took to his Telegram account on Sunday morning to blame former White House adviser Steve Bannon of ordering the attack on the Capitol building on Jan 6th, reminiscent of the way he used to do "crazy things" in order to "curry favor" with the former president.

Writing that Stone appeared to be throwing Bannon "under the bus," Petrizzo reported the conservative gadfly wrote, "It is highly likely that [Steve] Bannon really gave the order to breach the capital [sic] and maneuvered patriots into dangerous positions."

This is more like an African elephant hunt. Trump is the elephant, the hunters are lawyers, but these lawyers don't have guns. All they have are them making the sound of guns going Bang! Bang! The elephant is becoming enraged and maybe will trample the lawyers. 6ix, if you weren't crazy you could see you are full of bullshit. But then again, if you weren't crazy you'd see Trump is made of bullshit.

Bullshitters seek to convey a certain impression of themselves without being concerned about whether anything at all is true. They quietly change the rules governing their end of the conversation so that claims about truth and falsity are irrelevant.

On Bullshit by Harry Frankfurt, Princeton University
One of the most salient features of our culture is that there is so much bullshit. Everyone knows this. Each of us contributes his share. But we tend to take the situation for granted. Most people are rather confident of their ability to recognize bullshit and to avoid being taken in by it. So the phenomenon has not aroused much deliberate concern, or attracted much sustained inquiry. In consequence, we have no clear understanding of what bullshit is, why there is so much of it, or what functions it serves. And we lack a conscientiously developed appreciation of what it means to us. In other words, we have no theory. I propose to begin the development of a theoretical understanding of bullshit, mainly by providing some tentative and exploratory philosophical analysis.

Not gonna happen, despite the crying need that Trump be in jail. Trump didn't pay taxes for 20 years and he won't be paying because the Justice Dept. won't stomp his ass. The Mueller investigation found that Trump obstructed the investigation but the Justice Dept. won't stomp his fat ass on that, either. It is symmetry with Trump saying Lock her up, but his Justice Dept. didn't do a damn thing to Hillary. You can go all the way back to Vice President Aaron Burr murdering Alexander Hamilton and Burr committing treason in New Orleans. The Justice Dept. wasn't worth a damn even way back then and the Dept. hasn't gotten any better at convicting big-shots. Even Nixon escaped prosecution.

Worse Than Watergate: Nixon’s Greatest Treachery
Even though President Johnson knew full well what was going on, the decision was made to sit on the story. Partly because the Democrats believed they’d win the election anyway, and partly because revealing the truth would have also exposed the wiretapping and surveillance between the rival parties – the blow to the public psyche would have been too much to bear.

Exclusive: FBI finds scant evidence U.S. Capitol attack was coordinated - sources

Though federal officials have arrested more than 570 alleged participants, the FBI at this point believes the violence was not centrally coordinated by far-right groups or prominent supporters of then-President Donald Trump, according to the sources, who have been either directly involved in or briefed regularly on the wide-ranging investigations.

"Ninety to ninety-five percent of these are one-off cases," said a former senior law enforcement official with knowledge of the investigation. "Then you have five percent, maybe, of these militia groups that were more closely organized. But there was no grand scheme with Roger Stone and Alex Jones and all of these people to storm the Capitol and take hostages."

In a letter to the judge, Florida man Robert Palmer, 54, said he felt betrayed by Trump and his allies. “Trump supporters were lied to by those at the time who had great power,” wrote Palmer, who told the judge Friday he was “really, really ashamed of what I did.”

Apparently, Trump cannot be charged with a crime just because Trump organized a rally that the fire extinguisher throwing rioter attended, and Trump told the rioter to 'Stop The Steal', and Trump did not give orders to the National Guard to stop the rioter, and Trump would still be President if the rioter had prevented V.P. What TV show gave you these extravagantly violent ideas of how power is taken? Did you know that only Hitler, as head of state, could dismiss Hitler as head of the government? Hitler used the written rules in 1934 to make himself dictator for life by assigning to himself two government positions: President and Chancellor. The rules did not say the same person can't hold both offices. Then Hitler in one position decided he would never fire Hitler in the other position. It was perfectly legal and non-violent. Trump used the rules to make himself President for Life, except V.P. Mike Pence didn't follow the rules and made Biden the President. Ever since, Trump has complained often and bitterly that Pence betrayed him by not following the rules. If only the rules had allowed Trump to be both President and Vice-President, Trump would still be President.

I'm pretty sure I got my ideas about how violent coups are by watching news stories about coups in other countries.

BTW did you know that Hitler had henchmen and allies in - among other places - the German Secret Police - who murdered his political opponents and potential rivals even before he was a significant blip in the German political radar? That was from some PBS history show I watched. "In Germany, Nazi leader Adolf Hitler orders a bloody purge of his own political party, assassinating hundreds of Nazis whom he believed had the potential to become political enemies in the future ..." (see 'Night of the Long Knives')

Gotta watch out for those wildly inaccurate news stories of violent coups in other countries and bloody history shows about how power is taken.

Three Hours Of U.S. Capitol Surveillance Video at the Tunnel from Jan. 6, 2021.

Biden Signs Bill Letting Capitol Police Chief Call In National Guard

The president also has authority to call in the National Guard, but troops did not arrive at the Capitol until hours after then President Donald Trump's supporters breached the building. It remains unclear exactly what caused the delay, though Trump claimed he "immediately" ordered the National Guard to "expel the intruders" on January 6.

Under existing policy, the Capitol Police chief was required to seek approval from a four-member board that oversees the police force to get National Guard assistance.

A June report on the January 6 attack found security failures “clearly demonstrated the need for the Chief of the U.S. Capitol Police to have more unilateral flexibility to quickly request assistance in an emergency.”

Representative Madeleine Dean, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, told Joy Reid on Thursday that she believes Jordan is "running very, very scared."
A democrat* fantasizes about reading a republican's mind, and that fantasy is headlined as fact by the m$m. And that propaganda is regurgitated by our own propagandist here, as if it was meaningful.
Quote:

Jordan also accused the committee of misleading the American public by omitting information about a text message he sent to former Chief of Staff Mark Meadows.
Quote:

The message, originally attributed to an unnamed lawmaker ...
Quote:

It wasn't Jordan's own words, either, but a message he forwarded.
That was the committee's strike against the facts - it reported a biased, incomplete story that didn't contain all the facts, but only a slanted portion, by attributing the message to Jordan as the originator, instead of indicating it was authored by someone else.
Quote:

... said: "On January 6, 2021, Vice President Mike Pence, as President of the Senate, should call out all electoral votes that he believes are unconstitutional as no electoral votes at all."
Quote:

The full message, however, contained a legal argument from former Department of Defense Inspector General Joseph Schmitz.
And that's another strike against the facts by the 'select' committee stacked with democrats*, that failed to indicate this was a legal opinion by a third party, not a personal preference of Jordan.

It's clear that the 'select' committee plays politics with the facts. I'd say Jim Jordan has ample reason to be wary of dealing with that 'select' committee heavily stacked with democrats'.

Rudy Giuliani associate Bernard Kerik set to release Jan. 6 documents: report

A Rudy Giuliani consigliere is set to share public documents related to his involvement in attempting to overturn the 2020 election results.

Bernard Kerik, who served as then-Mayor Guiliani's police commissioner in the months following 9/11, will share documents on a public website that his attorney says are "not privileged," according to a letter obtained by Politico.

"Mr. Kerik is happy to provide all of the responsive documents, as well as to sit and answer all appropriate questions regarding these matters," Timothy Parlatore, Kerik's attorney, wrote in the letter, adding that Kerik would sit for a Jan. 13 deposition with the committee.

Opinion | Will Donald Trump Get Away With Inciting an Insurrection?

by Laurence H. Tribe, Donald Ayer, Dennis Aftergut, Dec. 23, 2021

https://www.nytimes.com/2021/12/23/opinion/trump-capitol-riot-january-
6th.html

Mr. Tribe taught constitutional law at Harvard for 50 years. Merrick Garland was one of his students. Mr. Ayer oversaw criminal prosecutions and investigations as Ronald Reagan’s U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of California. He later served as deputy attorney general. Mr. Aftergut handled a number of complex investigations and prosecutions as a federal prosecutor in San Francisco.

In his nine months in office, Attorney General Merrick Garland has done a great deal to restore integrity and evenhanded enforcement of the law to an agency that was badly misused for political reasons under his predecessor. But his place in history will be assessed against the challenges that confronted him. And the overriding test that he and the rest of the government face is the threat to our democracy from people bent on destroying it.

Mr. Garland’s success depends on ensuring that the rule of law endures. That means dissuading future coup plotters by holding the leaders of the insurrection fully accountable for their attempt to overthrow the government. But he cannot do so without a robust criminal investigation of those at the top, from the people who planned, assisted or funded the attempt to overturn the Electoral College vote to those who organized or encouraged the mob attack on the Capitol. To begin with, he might focus on Mark Meadows, Steve Bannon, Rudy Giuliani, John Eastman and even Donald Trump — all of whom were involved, in one way or another, in the events leading up to the attack.

Almost a year after the insurrection, we have yet to see any clear indicators that such an investigation is underway, raising the alarming possibility that this administration may never bring charges against those ultimately responsible for the attack.

While the Justice Department has filed charges against more than 700 people who participated in the violence, limiting the investigation to these foot soldiers would be a grave mistake: As Joanne Freeman, a Yale historian, wrote this month about the insurrection, “Accountability — the belief that political power holders are responsible for their actions and that blatant violations will be addressed — is the lifeblood of democracy. Without it, there can be no trust in government, and without trust, democratic governments have little power.”

The legal path to investigate the leaders of the coup attempt is clear. The criminal code prohibits inciting an insurrection or “giving aid or comfort” to those who do, as well as conspiracy to forcibly “prevent, hinder or delay the execution of any law of the United States.” The code also makes it a crime to corruptly impede any official proceeding or deprive citizens of their constitutional right to vote.

Based purely on what we know today from news reports and the steady stream of revelations coming from the House select committee investigating the attack, the attorney general has a powerful justification for a robust and forceful investigation into the former president and his inner circle. As White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows was intimately involved in the effort to overturn the election. He traveled to Georgia last December, where he apparently laid the groundwork for the phone call in which the president pressured Georgia’s secretary of state, Brad Raffensperger, to “find 11,780 votes.” Representative Jim Jordan of Ohio reportedly promoted a scheme to pressure Vice President Mike Pence to reject duly certified Joe Biden electors. And from their war room at the Willard Hotel, several members of the president’s inner circle hatched the legal strategy to overturn the results of the election.

The president himself sat back for three hours while his chief of staff was barraged with messages from members of Congress and Fox News hosts pleading with him to have Mr. Trump call off the armed mob whose violent pas

Anyway, since Trump is no long an active topic, the question is - why froth this up right now? What are they trying to distract us from? Perhaps the US/ NATO failure vis-a-vis Russia, with Russia calling the shots?

Clinton, Clinton, Clinton is all we heard the entire time Obama was president from Kiki and others. That’s eight years. Yet for months now Kiki and these same people have clamored we should move on from Trump. We should stop posting about him. It’s been less than a year and it’s not hard to figure out why they say that. The topic of Trump is embarrassing for them. It shows them as being about as stupid as they come for following and defending him.

tick tock the hammer is falling...

I read the article second. It’s good and to the point. I just didn’t want to repost the whole thing to comment on it. I agree with what the article says. Let us hope though we see the Justice Department act. I suspect if they do, they will have a very strong case.

Trump Advisor Peter Navarro Lays Out How He and Bannon Planned to Overturn Biden’s Electoral Win

A former Trump White House official says he and right-wing provocateur Steve Bannon were actually behind the last-ditch, coordinated effort by rogue Republicans in Congress to halt certification of the 2020 election results and keep President Donald Trump in power earlier this year, in a plan dubbed the “Green Bay Sweep.”

Trump urges judge to drop lawsuit by eight Capitol cops on Jan. 6 riot

Donald Trump is seeking to have the court dimiss a lawsuit against him by eight Capitol Hill cops who accused him of sparking the January 6th MAGA riot.

The former president addressed his supporters at a rally outside of the White House on the morning of the riot. Many of them later marched on the Capitol and forced their way inside the building. The House of Representatives impeached Trump for his role but the Senate acquitted him.

January 6 committee gets inside Trump's West Wing wall of obstruction

The House select committee probing the January 6 insurrection is signaling that it has penetrated Donald Trump's wall of obstruction about what was going on inside the White House and his own family while he refused to stop the mob attack on the US Capitol a year ago this week.

Revelations delivered on Sunday by the top two lawmakers on the committee hint at the truth about the violence he incited to further his coup attempt, which turned into the worst assault on American democracy in modern times.

Vice Chair Liz Cheney, a Wyoming Republican, told ABC News of "firsthand testimony" that Trump's daughter Ivanka, then a West Wing adviser, twice asked him to intervene in a melee in which police officers were beaten by his crowd.

They were just trying to stay on the good side of a lame-duck president who still controlled the Republican base. “What is the downside for humoring him for this little bit of time?” a senior Republican official infamously told the Washington Post shortly after the election.

During the riot, and in the hours and days that followed, we got some rare honesty from Republicans who never in their lives would’ve said a cross word against Donald Trump. Many of those who condoned, or egged on, Trump’s stolen election narrative surrendered their guard to the rawness of the moment.

“This election was not unusually close. Just in recent history, 1976, 2000, and 2004 were all closer,” McConnell said as rioters began to descend on Capitol Hill. “This Electoral College margin is almost identical to 2016. If this election were overturned by mere allegations from the losing side, our democracy would enter a death spiral. We’d never see the whole nation accept an election again.” After the riot, a visibly furious McConnell insisted on the floor that this “failed insurrection” from “thugs” would not deter the Senate from its work.

The following week, top House Republican Kevin McCarthy allowed himself, for perhaps the first and last time, to tell some truths about Donald Trump. In a floor speech, McCarthy said Trump “bears responsibility for Wednesday’s attack on Congress by mob rioters. He should have immediately denounced the mob when he saw what was unfolding.” Trump, he said, needed to “accept his share of responsibility, quell the brewing unrest and ensure President-Elect Joe Biden is able to successfully begin his term.”

South Carolina Sen. Lindsey Graham, who, like McCarthy, had egged on Trump’s efforts to fight the election results, gave an emphatic speech after the riot on the need to certify the election results. “Count me out, enough is enough,” he said on the floor. “It is over.”

Joe Biden “won,” Graham said. “He’s the legitimate President of the United States. I cannot convince people, certain groups, by my words, but I will tell you by my actions that maybe, I above all others in this body, need to say this: Joe Biden and Kamala Harris are lawfully elected and will become the President and the Vice President of the United States on January the 20th.”

Georgia Sen. Kelly Loeffler, who rallied to Trump’s stolen election narrative and promised to object to certification only a couple of days before the rally, only to lose her runoff anyway, changed her mind following the riot. “The events that have transpired today have forced me to reconsider,” she said on the Senate floor, “and I cannot now, in good conscience, object.” Oklahoma Sen. James Lankford, backed away from his pledge to object, too, and the following week apologized to Black constituents for having questioned the election results.

There was a fleeting moment when Republicans might finally, en masse, move to cut off ties with Trump. But not long after, they all got back on script.

Trump’s approval among Republicans never fell through the floor, and he was able to retain his stranglehold of the party. With the exception of a few Republicans in Congress, Jan. 6, the culmination of an active, multi-month effort to overturn a presidential election, receded as a breaking point for the party.

Anyone who still thinks that Jan 6 was a "coup attempt" isn't paying attention to what is happening in Kazakhstan.

Armed groups, storming government buildings, raiding armories, and attacking police stations.

Running gun battles in the streets.

Now, THAT'S a coup attempt!

Calling Jan 6 a "coup attempt" is an embarassing misuse of the English language and a perversion of reality.

You should be ashamed. (But, I know you're too stupid to be.)

About 10 times a week I hear Trump voters saying what you are writing. Unfortunately for you, Trump spilled his guts in writing and on video as it was happening.

Hint for 6ix -- when Trump says or writes a falsehood he and you wish was true about the election, it does NOT become Truth, but it does become evidence against him and his false claims of being a very stable genius:

Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!

Insurrectionist Truther Doesn’t Believe He Was At Capitol

ROSE CITY, MI—Dismissing the accusations as nothing more than the baseless attempts of a deep-state conspiracy to attack former President Trump’s supporters, insurrectionist truther Thomas Keleher declared Monday that he doesn’t believe he was present at the Capitol riot. “Look, anybody could’ve taken selfies of me storming the Capitol and posted them to my Facebook page to make it look like I was there—it’s fake news,” said Keleher, telling law enforcement who arrested him that the 73-minute video on his phone depicting him punching out a Capitol window and later rifling through papers on Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi’s desk was clearly a deep-fake and nothing he ever would have actually done. “You’re telling me I drove 700 miles to Washington, stayed with three other Trump supporters I know in a hotel room at the Marriott, stormed the Capitol, and then bragged about it, just like the Parler and Discord screen names I use showed that I did? How naive do you think I am? And I guarantee you that the recollections I do have of storming the Capitol are because Bill Gates used one of his 5G satellites to pump fake memories into my brain.” Keleher also reportedly told investigators that if he had been at the Capitol, he would have assuredly been there as part of some false-flag operation, in which case there was no question in his mind that he was secretly an FBI operative.

Your memory needs refreshing.

1. On November 3, 2020, Joe Biden was elected president.

2. Donald Trump then spent months promoting lawsuits and other efforts designed to overturn the 2020 election, which he claimed Democrats had stolen. Fox News and the entire conservative press helped him along eagerly.

3. Nothing worked, so as a last ditch effort Trump tried to compel VP Mike Pence to renounce his constitutional duty to certify the electoral vote.

4. Pence did his best to figure out a way to comply, but in the end he couldn't quite do it.

5. On January 6, the day the electoral vote was scheduled to be certified in Congress, Trump speaks to a rally of protesters.

6. Toward the end of his speech, a mob begins to march on the Capitol building, hoping to stop Pence from certifying the electoral vote and thereby keeping Trump in office.

7. Shortly after the attack on the Capitol begins, Trump sends out a tweet.
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Mike Pence didn’t have the courage to do what should have been done to protect our Country and our Constitution, giving States a chance to certify a corrected set of facts, not the fraudulent or inaccurate ones which they were asked to previously certify. USA demands the truth!
Jan 6th 2021 – 2:24:22 PM EST

8. Aside from a couple of tweets asking the mob to remain peaceful, Trump never asks them to stand down—despite relentless urging from family and aides.

9. In the immediate aftermath, Republicans denounce both Trump and the mob. However, as time goes by their criticism wanes. Today, most of them pretend that it was no big deal.

10. Two-thirds of Republican voters agree because they think Democrats stole the election in the first place. Fox News and the others continue to promote this idea.

11. Trump continues promoting an insurrection:

Statement by Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America

To watch Biden speaking is very hurtful to many people. They're the ones who tried to stop the peaceful transfer with a rigged election. Just look at the numbers. Does anybody really think that Biden beat Obama with the Black population in select Swing State cities, but nowhere else? That he would lose 18 out of 19 bellwether counties, and 27 out of 27 “toss up” House races, but somehow miraculously receive the most votes in American history with no coattails? That he would lose Florida, Ohio, and Iowa and win, even though it has never been done before?

They spread a “web of lies” about me and Russia for 4 years to try to overturn the 2016 election, and now they lie about how they interfered in the 2020 Election, too. Big Tech was used illegally.

Where did all those votes show up from in Georgia, where it was just revealed they sold ballots for $10 a piece, or in Pennsylvania, and Arizona, and Wisconsin. He acts like he's aggrieved, but we're the ones who were aggrieved and America is suffering because of it with poisonous Borders, record Inflation, a humiliating surrender in Afghanistan, $5 a gallon gas and higher, empty stock shelves, and rampant crime. America is a laughingstock stock of the world, and it's all because of the real insurrection, which took place on November 3rd, but this is an election year and MAGA Republicans should get elected and work with me to fix this horror that Joe Biden and the Democrats have brought us.

Never forget the crime of the 2020 Presidential Election. Never give up!

I believe the Riot or 'invasion' broke out, while Trump was still making his speech. I have seen this on video film, there are media and un-edited livestreamed film time lines that back these facts, numbers and timeline don't add up to blame it all on Trump, it is a good thirty minutes jog to get there not running at full pace but carrying flags and 'Dont Thread on Me' and Yoga Soccer Moms and all those other banners and warm gear and Radios and doing all this without crowd delays...it is impossible his supporters watching his speech started the riot at the Building that does not say however people went out to cause a Riot and trouble that day and later on during the riot many were filmed wearing red Trump hats.
Remember 2020 a year that Fox called Texas 'Blue' ...Strange how they did jackshit while Antifa and BLM rioted, Looted and were burning cities... destroying homes and small business of people....very odd that they did nothing about the Taliban broadcasts or allow Iranian terrorists to operate their social media accounts.

Tell me how the math works out on this, if Trump is still speaking for 50 mins while a Mob of Oath Keepers and Yoga Soccer Moms and Q-Anon are all rioting hitting the Capitol Roman Greek Riot Army style on Multiple Front, the rear of the Building, the East and West side

How can Trump supporters watching his speech be in BOTH PLACES at the SAME TIME?

You see evidence of fbi provocateur agents, or infiltartors who went in too deep and perhaps forgot which side they were on? Luring and Enticing the crowded mob on, while other police gave up and simply opened up the barriers?

That is not to say some people in Trump Red Hat join the riot later on during the day. However at the start it seems there are others who begin the riots.

FALSE - even if they had some scifi technology like 'light speed' teleportation they would not make it on time, they were already at the Building Rioting, the ones watching Trump's speech had 40 + mins of ground to cover, that is while walking brisk without delay
it is a good 25 speed run to thirty minutes jog to get there not running at full pace but carrying flags and 'Dont Thread on Me' go to some Maps app and confirm it by sat car route photos, you can not get there on time if you are also there watching the Trump speech. When was the last time you jogged or ran?
That is not to say some followers wearing Trump red hats joined the rioters later on that day.

Trump turns on Hannity over Capitol-riot texts advising him to stop claiming the election was stolen

Former President Donald Trump hit out at the Fox News host Sean Hannity on Wednesday (Jan 5, 2022) for suggesting days after the Capitol riot that Trump should stop claiming the 2020 US election was rigged.

The House select committee investigating the Capitol riot on Tuesday released the texts sent by Hannity — a prominent supporter of Trump — to Trump allies including Mark Meadows, then the White House chief of staff.

They were part of a letter to Hannity requesting that he cooperate with the committee's investigation.

The letter quoted a text Hannity sent to Meadows and Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio four days after the Capitol riot that said Trump "can't mention the election again."

"Ever," it continued. "I did not have a good call with him today. And worse, I'm not sure what is left to do or say, and I don't like not knowing if it's truly understood. Ideas?"

Trump told CNN on Wednesday, through a representative: "I disagree with Sean on that statement and the facts are proving me right." (Facts prove him wrong.)

The Trump representative did not specify which facts Trump was referring to or how they were proving Trump right.

Since leaving office, Trump has continued to push baseless claims meant to delegitimize his loss to Joe Biden in the election. Numerous lawsuits and election audits have failed to produce any evidence to back up his claims of widespread voter fraud.

Hannity was frequently a cheerleader of Trump's agenda during his administration and even appeared onstage at one of his rallies.

But a book published last year by CNN's Brian Stelter indicated that their relationship soured after the Fox News host became "disgusted" by Trump's conspiracy theories about the election.

The former president remains fixated on overturning his election loss, Axios reported last month, citing sources who said it was difficult to dissuade him from repeatedly turning to the topic in personal conversations.

Then try not to respond to the survey results:

Most Republicans support efforts to overturn the election.

In an NPR/Ipsos survey taken two weeks ago, 57 percent of Republicans said that “Trump and his allies were exercising their correct legal right to contest the election” or, more boldly, that they “did not go far enough in contesting the election.”

Only 29 percent chose one of the alternative answers: that the former president and his allies “went too far” or “broke the law trying to overturn the election.”

In the UMass Amherst survey, 62 percent of Republicans said Vice President Mike Pence should have “used his role in counting the Electoral College votes to challenge Joe Biden’s victory.”

When a CBS News/YouGov poll asked what Trump should do now, 56 percent of Republicans said he should run again in 2024, but an additional 20 percent said he should “fight to be put back into the presidency right now, before the next presidential election.”

Given these views, it’s not surprising that rank-and-file Republicans want to shut down the Jan. 6 investigation. I would have phrased the sentence: Given how loony Trump voters are, it's not surprising that . . .

The public saw that terrible day unfold a year ago and saw it for what it was: a protest that became a riot. (For full disclosure, I previously worked as a legal analyst for CBS News).

Not surprisingly, the poll received little comparative coverage on a day when reporters and commentators spoke of “the insurrection” as an undeniable fact.

Yet, when CBS asked Americans, they received an answer that likely did not please many.

Indeed, CBS did not highlight the answer to the question of whether the day was really a “protest that went too far.”

The answer was overwhelming and nonpartisan. Some 76% believe that this was a protest that went too far.

Mr Trump’s latest grievance-laded statement is the fourth he has issued in the 24 hours since Mr Biden blamed his predecessor’s lies about the 2020 election for the 6 January insurrection.

Mr Trump, who in the days before the attack endorsed a plan to overturn the results of the 2020 election and install him for a second term, exhorted his followers to remember that he is “not the one trying to undermine American Democracy” despite the fact that numerous officials from his former administration worked on a plan to do just that.

Jennifer Mercieca, a Texas A&M University professor of communications and the author of The Rhetorical Genius of Donald Trump, told The Independent Mr Trump’s latest missive was a “totally predictable response” to Mr Biden’s speech.

“We are in a battle for shaping public memory of January 6th and the 2020 election and the threats to American democracy. We saw the Democratic Party use the occasion to solemnly mark the day, noting its place in American history and how January 6th, 2021 was a violation of our democratic norms, and we saw the Republican Party ignore or trivialize or mock those commemorations as irrelevant or sensationalized or part of the larger conspiracy,” she said.

“It's fascinating to watch the attempts to shape public memory happen in real time”.

Jonathan Turley might be technically correct for a peculiar reason. It is the President's decision when there is insurrection. Since Trump didn't declare Jan 6th an insurrection, it's not one. But I don't think the Constitution writers imagined it would be the President's rhetoric whipping up an insurrection since the President is the one who would be sending troops to suppress the insurrection. I guess James Madison and Jefferson didn't think a Trump was possible.

Biden* is not our legitimate President, Second.

Plain and simple.

I'm not bitching about it, however, since four years of Biden* and his administration along with Democrat control of the House and Senate is EXACTLY what we needed.

The "normies" who don't pay attention to the news from either side are all waking up and seeing what's going on.

Democrats will be destroyed next November.

Yup. That's exactly what we've all been wondering about you all these years, Ted.

Congratulations on finally grasping the usage of too.

I guess shame can really be a great motivator.

Maybe Biden* is just doing it wrong.

P.S. I'm also extremely impressed that you didn't say "Not sure witch", which would be which witch is used when describing the Wicked Witch of the West, Nancy Pelosi.

The following are all true, but if Trump can convince enough voters any of it is false, then Democrats lose the small influence they have in Congress:

Trump didn’t just lose the election.
He lost 60-plus legal challenges.
He lost in his efforts to get Republican state legislatures to undo the results.
He lost his effort to get his VP to overturn the results.
He lost three separate counts in Georgia.
He lost an audit conducted by his allies in Arizona.
He lost in his multiple efforts to get the Supreme Court to intervene.
No candidate ever found more ways to lose an election than Donald Trump.

You could take Trump completely out of the equation and Democrats still lose their small influence in Congresss by a WIDE margin.

Historically, as we know, the side that holds Presidential power tends to lose seats in the house and senate.

But unlike in 2018 where the Blue Wave you guys kept talking about didn't pan out, 2022 is going to see a massive Red Wave.

They're doing everything wrong. Everything.

These stupid fucks are still going around calling Latinos "LatinX" even though all polling shows that they fucking hate it. They're still doing nothing about illegal aliens coming in and LEGAL Latino citizens fucking hate it. That $450,000 per illegal alien child separated at the border during the Trump administration? Yeah... They fucking hate that too.

All polling now is showing that the Latino vote is split 50/50 between Republicans and Democrats now, and has been trending that way since before Trump won in 2016. This isn't just bad news for Democrats today and in November, but it's doom for Democrats' entire future since they've been banking on the "fact" that they'd always get the Latino vote.

More blacks vote anti-Democrat nearly every election cycle.

And keep lying about CRT not being in schools and see where that gets you. It's leading to an (R) or (D) next to the name of every school position on the ballot in many states, which in current-era America is not a bad thing.

All you racist, sexist, cultist Democrats are going to have left on your side in a decade is rich white folk.

Congratulations. You will have finally become everything you supposedly hated when that happens.

November is going to be a bloodbath. And Trump has nothing to do with it.
