Sung to the tune of "Red River Valley." Authored by a veteran of Hera. Was surprised that no one had made the connection between the old ballad "Jarama Valley" and the Firefly. So here is my attempt; feel free to reimagine it and improve it. I just thought this was a wasted opportunity.

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 1833    RATING:     SERIES: FIREFLY

There’s a valley on Hera called Serenity,

It’s a place where my brave comrades fell,

It was the valley that stole my childhood, And for many, their old age as well.

With the rest of the Independent column,

We stood and heard freedom’s lovely strain,

At Serenity, that dark, lonely valley,

We swore we'd prevent the Core planet’s reign

But we left in that valley of sorrow,

Ours arms and too many comrades brave,

Independence is all but forgotten,

Buried there in Serenity’s shallow grave
