After Book leaves with the Alliance, Serenity is faced with some Reavers

CATEGORY: FICTION    TIMES READ: 2367    RATING: 7    SERIES: FIREFLY

"To my crew, Please do not follow me." Zoe listens to the static filled message by herself in her room. "Zoe," Mal's voice continues. "I'm leaving Serenity in your hands. I guess y'all made it down to New Melbourne, you're listenin' to this..." ... One Hour Ago... Once Mal realized that Broder's push only theft them out on the edge of atmo, he got an idea. Kaylee took engine connection tubes for a shuttle to do some mis-matched repairs. Simon reluctantly locked Traves and River in the infirmary for their own safety. While Jayne, Zoe, and Mal prepared for the worst. Wash was ordered to lock himself in the Bridge with Simon. And Kaylee had to do the same thing while in the engine room. Wash didn't want his wife to be fighting any Reavers, but he did as he was told. The Reaver's ship wasn't much bigger than Serenity, in fact it was a modified Firefly that had alot out outer hull patch work. With a strong electromagnetic field net, the Firefly pulled Serenity in, and docked with her. Mal, Zoe, and Jayne stood guard, ready to fire, in the cargo hold. Wash monitered Serenity's vitals, while Simon tracked Broder's ship. Kaylee welded on the second to last piece, with a notion of something is going to happen. Traves, sits next to River's unconscious body, hoping she will wake up soon. ... "Look at them, Shepherd." Broder smiles sadistically, watching the moniters. "Have you encountered any Reavers, Shepherd? I bet you have. With living on the Rim for nearly a year." Broder turns to Book, whose standing next to a door, with his hands cuffed together. "I'm sure they're putting up a fight." he laughs. "It's too bad, I can't hear their screams." ... The airlock door opens with sparks flying. The loud grinding squeal of the door comes to a stop, when the door is fully open. In pounces three beast like creatures. All of them covered in black ash and engine grease. Their teeth are yellow and razor sharp. Their eyes are filled with red blood. The two bald ones are male, while the one with dred like hair is a female. Faces of their victims are sown to their arms, like sleeves. Patch work vests made of human skin, cover their bodies. They move about the cargo hold like animalistic hunters in the wild. Zoe was the first to fire. One bullet in the head of a male Reaver. The bullet catches the beast in mid jump. It cleanly enters with small one inch size black hole, and exits with a mess. A gash the size of a baseball blasts out of the back of the Reaver's head, throwing blood and gray radiated brain matter on to the steel gray floors. The remaining two look at their fallen comrade, like it was sleeping. They each let out an ear piercing howl of agony and loss. Jayne pulls the trigger, capping the other male right in the throat. Mal, slowly walks away from the small battle, knowing that it will get worse if he doesn't do anything. Zoe looks up to see th door of Inara's old shuttle close. Before Jayne could get a clear shot, the female Reaver jumps on the unaware Zoe. Laying on her back, Zoe stares the Reaver right in her blood lusting eyes. Zoe slowly pushes the beast up, while raising her gun. Jayne doesn't fire because of Zoe. Zoe stares at the scar running down th center of the beasts face. An operation scar. With a simple pull of the trigger, and a loud blast, a hole is made right in the beasts heart. ... Kaylee finishes the last part of the engine. She runs and presses the ignition switch. A burst of fire shoots out of the newly repaired section. Kaylee raises her arms to block the fire. Wash feeling the push of the engine igniting, he throws Serenity into full throttle. Jayne runs and closes the airlock, seeing that Serenity is still docked with the Firefly. ... The small shuttle launches form Serenity, and flys off into the black of space. The Firefly disconnects from Serenity and follows the shuttle. ... "Thank you." Zoe stops the recording. Everyone left gathered in the bridge. Zoe closes her eyes, trying not to cry, and hugs her husband. Jayne stands to the side wiping off and potential tears. Simon, stands with Kaylee in his arms, and Kaylee with some bandages on her left arm. Simon looks over at Traves holding River's hand, who is now awake. Simon smiles lightly at their survival, but is immediately reminded their loss. Simon hugs Kaylee and kisses her on her cheek, to ease the moment, even when it's a terrible time for Serenity.

Good plot here. I've only read this one part. I'd agree with the spell check issue and (gently) suggest a beta reader, but I still got what you were trying to say. Keep writing, I like it.
