I didn't see any other threads about it. Watching the latest episode I got an eerie vibe when Adam's character was talking with the British scientist. Felt very much like Jane interrogating Lawrence. I was waiting for Adam to pull out a big Bowie knife (although the big cigar felt very much the same).

Oooh! I've yet to catch up on the most recent ep. I kinda shied away after the silliness of the tin foil decoy that fooled the Russians, but I am still interested to see if things improve. Really want to see Adam for more than a season again

I'm enjoying it, plus the ratings have gone up since the pilot. The pilot drew 5.7 million viewers, it now is getting 7.7 million. Adam is on a hit.

I stay current on it...bit of drama..tears, etc...more than i need..but the oddest thing that strikes me about it is that it seems to be the perfect recuiter film for the Navy...lol... i mean, I like the fact that the bad guys ALWAYS get their come-up-ens no politically correct..be it leftovers at Gitmo, some mexican drug lord, a black female politician trying to create order and remake mankind with her elite society of chosen....whoever you are..if you're doing bad...this man's Navy is gonna kick your butt....

these days, when our real life (if I can call it that) political leaders are the biggest politically correct apologetic panzies in the world, it just seems out of place to be making a series that's so proud to be an American, to be a soldier...

Far as I know it got picked up for a second season.

The second season has come and gone. On August 11, 2015, The Last Ship was renewed for a 13-episode third season, which is scheduled to premiere in summer 2016.

Been watching Last Ship on DVD, got done with Season One so far - by the time my week had expired, it was on hold be another thru the Public Library.

The DVD includes a panel at ComiCon which occurred after the fifth episode had aired. Adam was the star, according to the host, the execs, and Eric Dane, and others. Some references to Firefly, from Adam, from audience questions, and some of Adam's replies to questions. When introduced, Adam's applause seemed greater than all of the other 7 panelists combined.

I find the show wonderful. I have developed a habit of using my FFWD button on DVDs of late. But LS seems to have broke me of that habit - have not skimmed through a scene yet. But I don't know why - maybe I'm just jonesing for more Jayne-type action. The story seems quite good, but how does it hold my attention without me understanding why?
I fear it might Jump the Shark before I'm ready for it to.

Silliness? Do you not understand the technology? I didn't see a major problem with it. But the Sonar Dome surviving the coral reef was iffy.

Inside the S2 DVD cover, I don't know which character that is supposed to be in silhouette and holding the gas mask, but I see nothing but the River Tam pose after "My turn" with the Reavers, holding the blood-dripping weapon like a battleaxe.

In the last episode or two of S2, I was briefly tempted to use the FFWD button.
Otherwise, riveting show.

I think this subject kicked off with news that S4 is coming up. The third season mention was it being on DVD.

I was happy to see Dichen Lachman again - she seems to be doing well at getting some good roles in higher quality shows - not just window dressing in a Charlie Sheen farce. I didn't recall knowing that she would be in it.

The premise of having the entire command structure of the only remaining combat ship in the world off boat for a party did seem quite lackluster. Maybe the idiot writers for Gravity were lent for this season opener episode.

She's had wonderful roles in Dollhouse, Agents of SHIELD, Last Resort (US Sub, LS reminds me of this), The 100, Shameless, Supergirl, King & Maxwell.

Generally action heroes or villians are carefully selected, and she played Roulette on Superfirl.
Otherwise, the rest of those shows I have considered to be quality productions, not lame fluff.

I've not seen "Gravity" so can't speak to it but yeah that did hit me as strange. I couldn't help thinking as I was watching it that it was a set up.

Gravity was a nonstop sequence of stupidity like this plot of the first episode, which clueless Clooney seemed to think was doltish enough for NASA.

So far with this season, seems to be a lot more killing off of the cast. As if Joss got loaned to the writers group.

Whenever I hear that brief drum roll at the end of a scene, going to commercial break, I'm reminded of the same sound cue or tension builder from Firefly.
I don't recall hearing that same sound sequence on other shows. I also no longer watch enough TV to know if it has become commonplace since Firefly developed it.
It seems applicable to adventure rather than just sci-fi.
Does anybody recognize it from other shows, before or after Firefly? The only other possibility I conjure right now is Dark Angel, but I don't think it is.

Looks like the waiting list is about 38 days for our County Library.

Another 3 died on the episode I just watched. Of the heroes, not including that other guy.

It is really enjoyable to have a quality show to watch.

I'm watching S3. I have come to savor the casting of all players in uniform now. Last season I was annoyed with Elizabeth Rohm, she seemed a weasel or bitch. Now she not hiding it anymore, screwing all American survivors. Nestor Serrano seems always typecast as a jackhole or traitor. I tried witholding judgement, but now he also has clarified his traitorous streak. I keep hoping they ride a bomb together.

Some weeks ago I saw reruns of L&O, with the episode of Rohm's departure, which affirmed my disappoint in her characters.

Sorry, I was thinking of the first disc of S3, which I saw over a month ago.

So, Adam never made it to Paradiso on Ezra in The Train Job, but now he makes it to Paraiso in Last Ship. And the USS Hayward had XO Cobb. Both places the evil empire are transporting chemicals. I'm wandering if Producer Eric Dane has seen Firefly.

With so many lost crew, soon they wont be able to man the ship.

Well, Season 3 seemed a might meatier than I recall S1.

Didn't notice exact copies of FF dialogue, but a couple echoes.
"That's a course we don't come back from" - Slattery to Capt Meylan.

"We all have a choice" - perhaps just watching The Train Job made me think that way.

I’m mixed about the cancellation. I have enjoyed the show overall, but I think the quality of it has steadily gone down since season 3. I wasn’t impressed by s4 at all. I’m hoping 5 is better so it’ll go out on a high note.

I really am wondering about the lack of info about S5. Most of the seasons have premiered in June.
Here we are at the end of May, but not a word.

For those watching on TNT, did they show the whole bit explaining the Season was the telling of The Oddessey? That nostos was the Lotus?

If not, you might want to check out the DVD to see it.

watched the first season and really enjoyed it...for me the entire story ended just fine with the next to last epi where Rhona funds the cure...bad guys get their cumupens, no political correct protection of any certain group..etc...and while they were still at sea, with one lone ship...kinda like..well..you know...

soninlaw keeps trying to get me back into the next seasons..but really.. I'm good with what they did in season1...I can let it lay there just fine.

Just finished all of S4 last night and yeah they kind of ran out of steam on that one. I have hopes for 5 but will still be sorry to see it go.

Well, when I posted originally I was on disc 2, I think. I just finished watching the whole season last night. Thanks for the info. If I remember I will skip to the end of the final disc and see if I can get that.

They made a major disconnect from reality this week, it’s really straining my willing suspension of disbelief.
(Not that it wasn’t strained already)

Oh, and it seems that this season is Moby Dick.
They pretty much smack you in the face with it.
