EW.COM - The popular Joss Whedon fan site announced Monday it is 'closing down' and will become a read-only site 'at some stage' in the future. The site was a discussion board hub for all things related to The Avengers director and Firefly showrunner, who has inspired a passionate and loyal fan community that few writer-producers in Hollywood can match.

Since Whedonesque is closing, I'm ever so thankful to Haken that this little corner of the 'Verse is still here.

I wish it could have closed on a better note, this seems to end in a bad way and that's sad.

To be fair he compared Donald Trump to a dog not Ivanka. I think Joss does go over the line when he's flipping out about politics. He really needs to tone that down, but it's pretty obvious it makes him lose his temper.

Regardless he's done a lot to support charities that support women. I've yet to read about any of them denouncing him.

He said Ivanka looked like a Pekingese. He made fun of Nicole Kidmans looks, ( for the crime of simply saying Trump should be given a chance ) and then made a crude sexual reference to a bunch of young women who were cancer survivors.

But he's raised $ for groups.

I don't think there's anything for Joss to ' get over' , to be honest. It's who he is, who he's always been, we're just seeing his true self. Aside from his personal life, there's been some rumblings from actors who worked w/ him on the direction he wanted to take certain characters. But when different folks from different shows recall the same sorts of issues...it's not just them.

What ever gnaws at Joss in his mind, I will credit him for turning it into some damn impressive work. This fan cite, and the time I've spent focusing on Firefly ( primarily ) and Buffy / Angel ( slightly lesser degree ) ... that's not me. I don't follow any other shows, fan pages or such. Save for Tolkien, I'm off in the real world, as it were. And sure, while I am a fan of 'sci-fi' , in general, it was and is never more than a bit of escapism. Watch it, enjoy it and then move on.

But to me, Firelfy ...it's just different. It's more than 44 minutes of diversion.

And that's why it bugs me to see Joss go sideways so publically. But it is what it is.

His ex-wife has caused some damage, but Joss has gone from directing mega hit films to now working on "Justice League" on the CW and writing the film "Batgirl", I just hope he doesn't end up doing rehash reboots like J.J. Abrams. He should go back to FOX sit down with Tim Manear and stay off twitter. I don't know who's gone more bat shit crazy, him or Judd Aptow. As for him being difficult to work with, I don't care, from what I've heard, MARVEL is run by assholes and many directors won't work for them, plus many actors are also assholes. And I hate to say this but I read the Captain can be a real pain in the ass on and off the set

Firefly, Buffy and Angel are history, it's time for Joss to get off twitter, go back to FOX and call Tim. He needs to get away from comic book super hero's...AND STAY OFF TWITTER!!

Sounds like he was doing it for quite some time... hadn't heard who it was with, or if they were actresses. Seems like that news would have gotten out. Maybe in time, it will.

With respect, I never thought of this as a Whedon fansite. Of course, that distinction is easy for me to make, as I don't think much of Buffy or Angel. To me, this has always been THE Firefly fan site

You never challenged the network site's claim to be the Original Board (OB) but, as this site was up 5 months before the show premiered, I've often wonder'd

IIRC, there were attempts to shut it down over the years but the killing blow didn’t come around 2012 or so.
I was there at the start, but I tended to spend more time here.
