The FBI has found that a business associate of former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort had ongoing ties to Russian intelligence, including during the 2016 campaign when Manafort and his deputy, Rick Gates, were in touch with the associate, according to new court filings.

I think this is what will play out in the end: Mueller finds the Trump campaign colluded with Russia to gain an advantage in the 2016 campaign, but Mueller will be unable to pin anything specific to Trump. He's been around too long to not know that when there are dirty deeds to do, you have your people do them for you and you stand clear while they take any heat. And when they do take the fall you say the nicest things about them as they are dragged off. "Flynn, he was a great guy, treated poorly."

Remember, it's a conspiracy between both parties that is the chargeable offense. Mueller may have that when it comes to the campaign itself. Then there is the possibility they have evidence of a coverup by the president and others associated with the campaign. Or finally, obstruction of justice.

These only concern the election and I'm sure I've missed a few. Then there is the rest like money laundering. Has Trump been compromised by a foreign country? What if anything will his family be charged with? Will his wife leave him and what if anything will Mueller do with the Stormy Daniels case. She says she was threatened and the money used to pay her off may have violated campaign finance laws. She was paid off so she could not influence the election. That too may have ramifications.

Perhaps best of all is that Trump has shit lawyers. All the really good ones don't want any part of this, or him.

Are you saying if individuals in his campaign are guilty of collusion then he is as well by extension? I'm not familiar with how that charge would work exactly.

Otherwise , yes - I agree with your list of other offenses he may be charged with.

I hope they don't try the campaign finance charge with him because of Daniels. I hate the guy and can't wait to see him gone, but that seems a stretch, even desperate to me.

I don't know if Trump is guilty by extension unless he was in the loop. It looks to me like he was. He was involved in creating a response to his sons contacts with the Russians. Even though it was after the fact, he may have been involved in real time with the Russian meeting.

Special counsel Robert Mueller and congressional investigators have interviewed roughly 50 people who work at the White House or were involved in Donald Trump’s campaign. That number needs to be updated. It's a month old. There is so much we don't know. Lets not forget Wikileaks.

Hey, campaign finance laws are very important and can not be ignored. The consequences could be catastrophic in the future if a precedent is set here. One that ignores Trump doing it because it is a hot button issue. And don't forget. Daniels said she was threatened.

The New York Times reports that Trump's former lawyer John Dowd once discussed the idea of pardons for Paul Manafort and Mike Flynn. NYT reporter Michael Schmidt joins MSNBC to explain his latest report.Mar.28.2018

If Trumps lawyer actually spoke to the attorneys of Flynn and Manafort as three different sources claim, and told them Trump would pardon them at the time he did, in an attempt to shut them up, think obstruction of justice big time.

One thing is certain. When charges are filed by Mueller they are thorough and appear to be unbeatable or unassailable so far.

I think, from all the reports I've heard since the beginning of this mess, that both Pence and Sessions may have to "face the music" as well. Pence because of the whole deal with Kelly (he may have lied about what he knew and when he knew it). Remember, Pence was in charge of the transition team; and Sessions because of his cover-up of meeting with Kislyak.

Sessions forgot to mention to Congress about meeting with the Russian Ambassador. Of course, not until Franken asked him the broad open question
regarding communications between the Trump administration, it's surrogates and Russian government officials; did this become an issue.

And then:

Perjury is a serious charge; but Sessions did lie to Congress. Either that or he is feeble-minded. But he eventually recused himself because of conflict of interest. Pence isn't far behind.

I'm beginning to think that Trump was just playing rope-a-dope, and took a lot of punches while his people were gathering evidence. Counter-investigations are heating up.

So, is this the work of the Deep State International? Domestic?

Personally, I think, above all, it's a distraction - a misdirection play. Gathering evidence? Of what exactly....counterintelligence!? That connotes that there was "intelligence" gathered to begin with. Ying/Yang....for every action there's an opposite and equal(?) reaction.

Well, now....we shall see, won't we.

Yup. I think that pretty much sums it up man.

The vocal Left and MSM go on and on and on every day about how he is both A) Stupid and B) borderline evil.

What do you imagine is going on right now that isn't being covered at all while you've got late night hosts calling Trump's mouth "Putin's cock holster?"

I don't think even I want to know the answer to that one.

The Jedi Mind Trick isn't Trump getting people to not look at "Russia". It's getting the people to focus on Russia and Stormy and all the other bullshit while other things are getting done. It's classic Copperfield.

The Mueller investigation is now in it's collusion phase. If there are going to be charges filed they will be filed under the term conspiracy.

And sig, jsf. The fact that Sessions is responsible for a prosecutor from Utah opening an investigation. One looking into the the FBI's investigation into the role Russia played during the election, breaks his recusal agreement. Sessions is interjecting himself into an investigation that is investigating him.

Oops, because Mueller is now investigating that.

T, I think you've hit upon something that can prove to backfire on Sessions. Connecting the dotted lines will certainly present a challenge, but I think that
Mueller may find something specific to that end and put a stop to it.

I'm not sure on either side of the equation. Sessions may or may not have the upper hand on this, only time will tell. The counter investigations may prove the FBIs case for that matter. In any event, people are getting nervous.

Keep in mind SGG, those very same people were appointed by Trump. Plus a good case could be made they actually undermined Hillary's chances of winning. I think that will be the outcome of any investigation.

I would suggest you too watch informed people discuss issues before you form and post an opinion. It would help you to avoid always looking like a moron. Your FOX news biased interpretation of things doesn't cut it.

I'm always astounded at your ignorance and refusal to acknowledge facts, on the many different topics discussed in these threads. Until I think troll. Then it becomes clear who and what you are about.

Someone doesn't have to intentional act like a troll to be one. All they have to do is post like one. This happens when they deny facts and post bullshit.

T has an open italics in the beginning of every one of his posts. He never puts the closed italics anywhere in the post, so when you quote him your text is italicized.

I shouldn't have to edit every quote because he's lazy and stupid.

Why would I expect you to understand, J0? You can't be bothered to write anything in English and you force people to have to read what you write 3 times before they are pretty sure they understand it.

You make a good point regarding the election interference of 2016; especially with the recent reports of Cambridge Analytica's involvement. I found this:

Quote:

CA is a privately held company that combines data mining and data analysis with strategic communication for the electoral process. It was created in 2013 as an offshoot of it's British parent company SCL Group to participate in American politics. In 2014, CA was involved in 44 U.S. political races.

It's even stated on their official website:

Quote:

Data drives all we do. CA uses data to change audience behavior.

Now that's scary. Talk about spying and brainwashing. The NSA have nothing as dangerous and manipulative as these folks. But, for the purposes of making it clear who's interests are being served, allow me to pinpoint some data of my own, collected from the "interweb" (as some may call it):

CA is backed by Robert Mercer, whose daughter was on the Trump transition team, who once had Bannon as it's chief strategist, who's on the board. It gets better:
The RNC would have had to approve any deals with CA, as it normally pays for White house communication consultants. The London based firm reportedly has marketing and psychological data on around 230 million Americans, according to a report by The Independent, a London news outlet, and it was widely known that Trump, Bannon and the Mercers had deep ties (there goes that word "deep" again). The Mercers, who once backed Ted Cruz, switched allegiances and now back Trump.

If Mueller and company could connect the dots from the Trump campaign to Cambridge Analytica to the election.....well, that might be a stretch, but it's no fantasy...these things are real. How does the above fit within this thread? Well, I'll tell you. If a connection between the election and possible tampering could be made....Impeachment will be more than mere talk. The thing is did the campaign know this when CA was hired, and did the RNC know as well.

Of course, this is mere speculation on my part, but then again, so are the rumblings of the Deep State's involvement.

Add the closing italics tag in the pic. It took me over a month to get you to put the closing font tag the last time you pulled this shit.

I'm not putting any blame on Haken. He's under no obligation to do anything for any of us. I think it's pretty amazing that he keeps the signal going at all considering how weak it's become.

Sure, it's a museum piece, but so is craigslist and that's still one of the most used websites in the world today. I'm not going to blame Haken because some people got used to how easy other forums got and how reliant people have become on their "smart" phones to do everything for them.

Nothing is broken here. All T has to do is put 4 more characters in his signature. He's already got a stupid gif and 3 other closing tags in every post. I've spelled it out what he needs to do to fix the issue.

I don't know if he hasn't fixed it already because he's stupid or he's an asshole. If he doesn't fix it after I posted that image then we have our answer.

There were a few about helth care from peepl getting squashed by rediculous insurans billz.

You're probably right. I've never personally heard him speak or anything. I haven't lived in Illinois for over 12 years, so I don't really pay attention much to Illinois politics anymore.

I was pretty much going by his voting record. He tows the party line for the most part, but voted even more in favor of anything that Trump has voted for by a few percentage points (I believe it was over 95% in agreement with Trump so far).

He's certainly not a rebel though, and there would be no opposition from him if the party turned on Trump.

Mueller has evidence that Trump lawyer met in Prague with Russians during campaign, sources say

WASHINGTON - The Justice Department special counsel has evidence that Donald Trump's personal lawyer and confidant, Michael Cohen, secretly made a late-summer trip to Prague during the 2016 presidential campaign, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

Confirmation of the trip would lend credence to a retired British spy's report that Cohen strategized there with a powerful Kremlin figure about Russian meddling in the U.S. election.
It would also be one of the most significant developments thus far in special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation of whether the Trump campaign and the Kremlin worked together to help Trump win the presidency.

How much longer, one wonders, can a man who famously bragged that he could shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and get away with it be expected to resist temptation to dismiss the special counsel?

After firing the special counsel, I knew Nixon was doomed politically when, just a week after the massacre, I received a letter from Irene Cloud, my aunt who lived in the tiny town of Kingman, Kansas, some 50 miles or so west of Wichita. Cloud was a dedicated Lincoln Republican in the moderate, anti-slavery Kansas tradition that had existed from the civil war to the 21st century, when the far right captured the state house.

An unmarried grammar school teacher, Cloud wrote me rarely but always to a purpose. When I opened the envelope, I found inside a light blue sheet of note paper on which in her perfect, schoolmarm’s hand, she had written “Dear Stanley, I have reached the conclusion that Mr Nixon is a bad man …”

If Nixon had lost my Aunt Irene, he had lost the nation.

Not everyone today believes that Donald Trump will necessarily suffer the same fate as Nixon should he fire Robert Mueller. At least two good friends of mine who are experts in measuring public opinion – and who are not themselves conservatives – told me recently that they believe Trump’s “base” in the Republican party will stick with him in a way that Nixon’s base, including my Aunt Irene, did not. “They would think firing Mueller was just another example of Trump bringing Washington to heel,” said one.

Flight Records Illuminate Mystery of Trump's Moscow Nights

President Donald Trump twice gave James Comey an alibi for why a salacious report about the 2013 Miss Universe pageant in Moscow couldn’t be true: He never even spent the night in Russia during that trip, Trump told the former FBI director, according to Comey’s memos about the conversations.

Yet the broad timeline of Trump’s stay, stretching from Friday, Nov. 8, 2013, through the following Sunday morning, has been widely reported. And it’s substantiated by social media posts that show he slept in Moscow the night before the Miss Universe contest.

This is even funnier:

Trump’s TV interview this morning is already being used to undermine him in court

Prosecutors in New York are citing President Donald Trump’s own words during his angry Fox & Friends interview Thursday morning — and they’re doing it to undercut Cohen and Trump’s arguments.

In a rambling and angry interview on Fox & Friends this morning, he followed a familiar playbook of his in trying to minimize Cohen’s role now that Cohen has become scandal-plagued. Asked how much of his legal work Cohen handled, Trump said, “As a percentage of my overall legal work, a tiny, tiny little fraction.”

The problem for Cohen is that this statement by Trump bolsters the government’s case that Cohen’s lawyering wasn’t all that substantial. And indeed, in advance of a scheduled hearing on Cohen’s suit midday Thursday, SDNY quoted that exact statement from Trump, along with a similar statement from Hannity.

After SDNY seized documents from Cohen in the April 9 raids, they planned to have them reviewed for attorney-client privilege. But no review is necessary if Trump says Cohen is not his lawyer, and Hannity says the same. Apparently, whatever Cohen did for Trump and Hannity was not covered by attorney-client privilege, if you believe what Trump and Hannity say about Cohen. Trump and Hannity cannot shut the fuck up.

What a joyous, sunny, late spring day.
Fun to see the desperate looks on the Fux presenters as they tried to talk him off the ledge, "Mr. President.... uh, Mr. President...uh... !" He seemed even more mental than I'd imagined him to be, chasing random thoughts around in circles. We got a glimpse of the madness under the hair.

I saw this quote: "That Trump simply can’t bring himself to run a disciplined process and make a reasonable pick — and nobody in his circle can make him do it — is a reminder that the country continues to be led on an ongoing basis by a man who fundamentally has no idea what he’s doing." Lawyer Who Was Said to Have Dirt on Clinton Had Closer Ties to Kremlin Than She Let On

The Russian lawyer who met with Trump campaign officials in Trump Tower in June 2016 on the premise that she would deliver damaging information about Hillary Clinton has long insisted she is a private attorney, not a Kremlin operative trying to meddle in the presidential election.

But newly released emails show that in at least one instance two years earlier, the lawyer, Natalia V. Veselnitskaya, worked hand in glove with Russia’s chief legal office to thwart a Justice Department civil fraud case against a well-connected Russian firm.

Will 2,555 days be enough time for Trump to choose one final reason from his varied reasons for firing Comey? And then not change his answer?
www.vox.com/2018/5/4/17316428/sanders-trump-giuliani-fire-comey

At the time of the firing, Trump gave a clear answer to the question of why Comey had been fired in the form of a letter — signed in his own name and addressed to Comey — that was released to the public.

The letter said, “I have received the attached letters from the Attorney General and Deputy Attorney General of the United States recommending your dismissal as the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. I have accepted their recommendation and you are hereby terminated and removed from office, effective immediately.”

The attorney general’s letter didn’t really say anything of substance, but the letter from Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein made a clear argument: Comey had violated Justice Department guidelines in his handling of the Hillary Clinton email investigation in ways that were improperly detrimental to her political candidacy and to the public’s confidence in the FBI’s nonpartisan nature.

That was a sensible enough story, albeit a little fishy in light of Trump’s repeated and vocal calls to “lock her up.”

And indeed, two days later in an interview with NBC News’s Lester Holt, the president offered a totally different explanation:
Quote:

He [Rosenstein] made a recommendation, he’s highly respected, very good guy, very smart guy. The Democrats like him, the Republicans like him. He made a recommendation. But regardless of [the] recommendation, I was going to fire Comey. Knowing there was no good time to do it!

And in fact when I decided to just do it I said to myself, I said, “You know, this Russia thing with Trump and Russia is a made-up story, it’s an excuse by the Democrats for having lost an election that they should’ve won.”

Trump, in other words, appeared to be saying that he fired Comey because Comey refused to shut down the FBI’s investigation into Russian intervention in the 2016 election.

The White House has since backed away from this explanation since it seems like an egregious abuse of power and arguably a kind of obstruction of justice. But they never really came up with an alternative explanation. But Wednesday night on Fox News, Rudy Giuliani, now working as a lawyer for Trump, offered a new one.

“He fired Comey because Comey would not, among other things, say that he wasn’t a target of the investigation,” Giuliani said. “He’s entitled to that. Hillary Clinton got that. Actually, he couldn’t get that.”

This also seems improper, though in a somewhat different way. And it led naturally to the question for Sarah Huckabee Sanders at Thursday’s briefing — why, definitively, was Comey fired?

And she refused to answer: "He doesn't have to justify his decision." Sanders’s statement from the podium was a reminder that Trump really is on some level an abnormally rotten, abnormally dangerous figure to hold such high office.

He fundamentally rejects the notion that the American state exists to serve the public interest and that he, in his role as president, is likewise a servant of the public. He instead wants to “run the government like a business” (as the cliché goes) in the most literal and retrograde way imaginable — for his own personal benefit, constrained if at all by the letter of the law or, more properly, by what he can manage to get away with under the law.

It’s of course true that, legally speaking, Trump can fire the FBI director for any reason he wants or for no reason at all. He can legally fire nuclear missiles at Mexico or legally encourage goons to murder his political opponents on the streets of Washington and then pardon the killers.

Yeah. It's a shame that a majority of the people who voted in the primaries decided early on that it wouldn't be either way.

I suggest we change the way voting in primaries in this country is done.

I'd call it the "failsafe clause".

Instead of picking Republican or Democrat, you just get to vote for both. This way, if your guy or gal doesn't win the seat, you at least had a say in which person would be there when your pick lost.

I know some people would say this is a bad idea because people would intentionally be trying to game the system and actively vote against a front runner on the other side, but I disagree with this way of thinking.

I would think what this form of voting would eventually lead to is more moderate candidates on both sides that would be more appealing to everyone. The ones closest to the fringes would have the least likely chances of becoming President when the General election comes because they wouldn't make it past the primaries.

I think it's pretty safe to say that neither Hillary or Trump would have been running in the General if the Primaries were done in this manner.
