I don't think that's it. I see plenty of educated people who buy into this type of stuff from either side all the time.
I think it speaks far more to the power of tribalism mentality that is still very much a part of our DNA even though most of us would not want to admit or even believe how much we have in common with our pre-electricity-age ancestors.
I think that an unexpected side effect of what we've turned the internet into has become an extremely anti-societal means of regressing back to our cave man roots of tribalistic mentality.
I'm beginning to see that for the most part, at least among people of our own relative level of power and influence, there is no bad intent. Even when the insults and vitriol are coming out in full force. Everybody deep down wants to believe that they're the good guy. People in general are also very easily manipulated.
I think these reasons are much closer to the truth when trying to explain why most people will believe any headline they read that come from news sources that tend to say what they want to hear, and why they don't do any additional research of their own on the subject and oftentimes don't even read the entire articles.

Hundreds of Children Rot in the Desert. End Trump’s Draconian Policies.
The administration created this crisis.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/10/01/opinion/migrant-children-tent-city-
texas.html
Instead, the Trump administration’s own draconian policies are to blame. Around the same time that it began separating immigrant children from their parents as they crossed into the United States, the Department of Homeland Security also established strict new requirements for the relatives and friends who might care for these children while their cases are sorted out. Prospective sponsors are now required to submit fingerprints, and to share their information with federal immigration officers. Because most of them are undocumented immigrants themselves, they have been scared off by these new requirements. And with good cause: So far, dozens of applicants who took the chance of applying to be sponsors have been arrested on immigration charges.
As would-be sponsors shrink away, more of unaccompanied children are left stranded in federal custody.

2. He didn't run on an anti-immigrant platform. He ran on an anti-illegal-immigrant platform.
Your attempt at calling Trump out on hypocrisy here is based on a false equivalency.
The EU is most likely going to fade away because of this very problem. Thank you Hungary for standing up for yourselves, and thanks to other Eastern Bloc countries for backing them up.

What you claim there is nothing wrong with was described as racist by Trump in the 90's. What you fail to understand is that Trump adopted Pat Buchanans' racist protectionist platform hook line and sinker after he denounced it as stupid, racist and much more.
And what you further don't realize because you're a dummy is that Trump is a flim flam man playing you like a fiddle.

Do you know how to immediately prove who belongs to who? We're not just talking about a handful of kids here. Imagine giving away children to anybody who claimed that they were the parents only to find out down the road that you just gave thousands or more of them to predators or sex traffickers.
I don't think this is going to be an overnight process, and if you would throw aside your partisanship and actually think about the well being of the children you should be able to see how this is not a simply black and white issue at this point.

Okay. So we have a fringe right wacko cult of Nazi LARPers out there in Virginia. Plenty of people on the fringes on both sides. I guaranty you wouldn't have even known about them right now if this were 1990 and there wasn't an internet to do a search on them.
To my point... How many times have I heard that Trump voters are Nazis? Not even on the whole of the internet, but just in the RWED in the last two years?
Are there 63 Million members of the ANP in America today then?

The U.S. Detention of Children Is Only Getting Worse
No longer forcibly separating families at the border, the Trump Administration has merely changed the way children are harmed.
https://progressive.org/dispatches/the-u-s-detention-of-children-is-on
ly-getting-worse-181003/
This is a manufactured crisis. The number of migrants apprehended in early 2018 is comparable to the previous five years. The real difference is that apprehensions of families with children and unaccompanied children have increased as a proportion of the total.

How Trump Is Trying — And Failing — To Get Rich Off His Presidency
In not divesting, Trump set himself up so that his actions, and those of people who engage with his businesses, present perpetual conflicts of interest — or the appearance of them. Meanwhile, if he’d liquidated, paid capital gains tax on his entire fortune and created a blind trust to invest it all in the booming stock market, Trump would be $500 million richer than he is today — without the headaches.
His net worth, by our calculation, has dropped from $4.5 billion in 2015 to $3.1 billion the last two years, knocking the president 138 spots lower on the Forbes 400.

You know exactly what I'm saying- SHIT
I think I know what you're saying, but it's not what you think you're saying*.
As far as what the word "Nazi" means ... You can't just use words however you feel like because:
1) Nobody will be able to understand you. The power of language is that we can have a COMMON understanding of what the words mean. If you get rid of that, you get rid of communication.
2) Sloppy words promote sloppy thinking.
So, what does "Nazi" mean? Does it mean any group with a genocidal program? If it did, then we would have called the Hutus "Nazis" when they slaughtered the Tutsis, or the Khmer Rouge when they slaughtered Cambodians.
So, it doesn't mean any group with genocidal program.
Does it apply only to WHITES who want to genocide non-whites? If that were the case, then we would have called the Founding Fathers (and their successors) "Nazis" when they slaughtered so many Native Americans.
Does it apply to post-WWII events where whites kill non-whites? If that were the case then we would have called Kissinger or Madeline Albright "Nazis".
IMHO, the word "Nazi" applies fairly narrowly to groups which claim more of the "Nazi" heritage than just racism, which includes a system of ECONOMICS and NATIONALISM as well as RACIAL PURITY. There are other words that better-describe the aims and goals of some of these American groups; white-supremacist for those whose aim is primarily racial purity. I don't follow these groups closely; MAYBE some of them have adopted the entire "Nazi" philosophy but of the ones I've heard of they seem mostly about white supremacy.
*What I understand you saying is that you hate certain groups and so you reach for the most-evocative word you can think of ... one that brings to mind cattle-cars, death-camps, gas chambers, and rank-upon-rank of marching soldiers ... to describe them, whether it fits or not.

What the reactionary, authoritarian, illiberal, regressionist, extreme Left has done in the last few years is completely devalued the word Nazi.
People just laugh when they're called a Nazi now, and people laugh at idiots who use the word to describe other people. And now it's not only the people being called Nazis that have learned to laugh it off, but the independents and center left are starting to jump on board as well.
Let him keep misusing the word if he doesn't want to learn. He's already destroyed any meaning it once had. It's going to be a pretty lonely place for him once the independents and center left start actively and vocally distancing themselves from his clan.

A leading Holocaust historian just seriously compared the US to Nazi Germany
“If the US has someone whom historians will look back on as the gravedigger of American democracy, it is Mitch McConnell.”

Browning, a professor emeritus at the University of North Carolina, specializes in the origins and operation of Nazi genocide. His 1992 book Ordinary Men, a close examination of how an otherwise unremarkable German police battalion evolved into an instrument of mass slaughter, is widely seen as one of the defining works on how typical Germans became complicit in Nazi atrocities.
So when Browning makes comparisons between the rise of Hitler and our current historical period, this isn’t some keyboard warrior spouting off. It is one of the most knowledgeable people on Nazism alive using his expertise to sound the alarm as to what he sees as an existential threat to American democracy.

Here’s a troubling story out of Texas. Democrat Mike Siegel is running against Rep. Michael T. McCaul (R) in Texas’s 10th district. This evening I saw a tweet from Siegel which said: “Just learned that my field director was arrested while delivering our letter. He told police he was working for me and the officer asked, “what party is he?” Now Jacob is under 48 hour investigatory detention in Waller County.”
That didn’t seem right, especially the part about getting arrested after being asked what party he’s affiliated with. So I managed to get Siegel on the phone to get some more details.
In the 10th district, there’s a historically black university called Prairie View A&M University. There’s a long history of the local county government (Waller County) trying to prevent the students there from voting. There was even a big Supreme Court case about it in 1979. This year local officials have put a new set of obstacles in the way of the students voting.

How the Trump family sold U.S. foreign policy to the highest bidder
http://www2.philly.com/philly/columnists/will_bunch/trump-tower-kushne
r-saudis-uae-qatar-nader-20180520.html
Today marks the 16-month anniversary of Donald Trump becoming the 45th president of the United States, and nowhere has our unlikeliest commander-in-chief placed a greater stamp on America's place in the world than his dramatic — and sometimes arbitrary and capricious, or so it seems — shifts in foreign policy. None of these seismic changes seemed more baffling than last spring's abrupt sellout of the Persian Gulf state of Qatar — a longtime ally where the U.S. Air Force Central Command and its 10,000 American troops are now based.
But suddenly, like the remarkable mid-speech policy reversal that occurs in George Orwell's 1984, we were, in a sense, at war with Qatar. We had always been at war with Qatar.
How to make sense of a 180-degree shift in policy that seemed so counter to U.S. interests in the region? A few months later, people who suspect the worst about Trump and his minions learned a possible motive that was almost too cynical to comprehend. Not long before Team Trump switched gears on Qatar, key officials from the emirate had met with Charles Kushner — father of Trump's son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared, who's in charge of Trump's Middle East portfolio — to discuss a massive Qatar-funded bailout of 666 Fifth Ave., the debt-laden Manhattan skyscraper that was threatening to sink the Kushner family real estate empire. But the Qataris rejected the deal — just weeks before the policy about-face. Whatever actually happened, the appearance was simply awful.
It also seems not to have been the full story. This weekend, the New York Times published a stunning report about a plan floated by a longtime emissary for the Saudis and the UAE in early August 2016, when Trump had just grabbed the GOP nomination but faced an uphill campaign against Hillary Clinton. Donald Trump Jr., aide Stephen Miller and Erik Prince, founder of the notorious mercenary outfit once know as Blackwater, listened intently as the emissary offered Team Trump millions of dollars in assistance, including a covert social-media campaign, to help Trump win that would be run by a former Israeli spy who specializes in psychological warfare, or psywar.
"The emissary, George Nader, told Donald Trump Jr. that the princes who led Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates were eager to help his father win election as president," the Times reported. Some key elements — exactly who was behind the plan, and what parts, if any, were carried out — remain murky.

Nigerian Army Cites Trump In Its Defense Of Killing Protesters
The Nigerian army reportedly used the words of President Trump to defend fatal shootings of Muslim protesters last weekend and Monday.
In a tweet, which appears to have been taken down, the army posted a video of Trump's anti-migrant speech in which he said rocks would be considered firearms if thrown toward soldiers at the U.S. border, according to the BBC and The New York Times.

Russia Threatens to Target U.S. Allies If Trump Exits Treaty
Russia will target countries hosting U.S. missiles if Washington goes ahead with plans to pull out of a landmark Cold War arms treaty, General Staff chief Valery Gerasimov said Wednesday.
“If the INF treaty is destroyed, we won’t leave it without a response,” he said in a presentation to foreign military attaches in Moscow, according to an official transcript. “You as military professionals must understand that the target for Russian retaliation won’t be U.S. territory but the countries where the intermediate-range missiles are deployed.”
His comments came hours after the U.S. said it would pull out of the 1987 Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty in 60 days if Russia doesn’t stop alleged violations. Moscow says it’s complying with the deal. Gerasimov accused the U.S. of seeking to shift the blame for its demise to Russia.

Trump is listening to Bolton, who he should have never hired to replace H. R. McMaster. Why was he replaced with dummy Bolton? In their public comments, McMaster and Bolton have presented a stark contrast in their views on Moscow’s involvement in the hacks and online trolling that roiled the 2016 presidential election. While McMaster has taken a hard-line stance in blaming Moscow for orchestrating the digital disruption campaign, Bolton has made headlines by casting doubt on Russia's role.

romise-of-10-middle-class-tax-cut
Steve Mnuchin can’t quite bring himself to publicly say President Donald Trump’s fake middle-class tax cuts aren’t real, but he’s almost there.
The treasury secretary in an interview with Bloomberg on Tuesday declined to comment on whether the 10 percent tax cut for the middle class the president suddenly started talking about before the 2018 midterms actually exists.
“I’m not going to comment on whether it is a real thing or not a real thing,” Mnuchin said.
Trump first floated the idea in October, telling reporters in Nevada he was working on a “very major tax cut for middle-income people” that would be announced by November 1.
No one seemed to know what he was talking about at the time, though Mnuchin tried to cover. The election came and went, and it’s now nearly the end of the year. The phantom tax cut does not exist.

The unsettling list of Trump’s made-up conversations keeps growing
At his White House cabinet meeting this week, Donald Trump went into quite a bit of detail while describing a conversation with the head of a “very rich” foreign country. As the American president described his discussion, the foreign leader – a “very great gentleman” – has been charging the United States when we fly planes over his country, even though the United States is preventing that country from being “overrun” by terrorists.
According to the story, Trump has convinced his unnamed foreign counterpart to stop doing this, which will mean a savings of “millions and millions of dollars” to American taxpayers.
It all sounded quite nice, although the conversation almost certainly didn’t happen in reality. The Washington Post tried to find a country that met Trump’s description. No such country exists.

TRUMP INCREASED MILITARY SPENDING BY OVER $200 BILLION.
"As Trump stokes tensions around the world, he’s adding fuel to the fire by demanding even more Pentagon spending. It’s a dangerous military buildup intended to underwrite endless wars and enrich defense contractors, while draining money from investment in the American people.
President Dwight D. Eisenhower once noted, “Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed."
Eisenhower was a Republican and a former general who helped win World War II for the allies, yet he understood America’s true priorities. But Washington—and especially Trump—have lost sight of these basic tradeoffs."

In a November 2016 editorial, The Atlantic warned that Donald Trump would be a threat to the republic — and a danger to democracy itself. In the course of making our case that he was unfit to command, we called him “a demagogue, a xenophobe, a sexist, a know-nothing, and a liar.”
That was an understatement, argues editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg.

Senior administration officials told The New York Times that several times over the course of 2018, Mr. Trump privately said he wanted to withdraw from the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Current and former officials who support the alliance said they feared Mr. Trump could return to his threat as allied military spending continued to lag behind the goals the president had set.
In the days around a tumultuous NATO summit meeting last summer, they said, Mr. Trump told his top national security officials that he did not see the point of the military alliance, which he presented as a drain on the United States.
At the time, Mr. Trump’s national security team, including Jim Mattis, then the defense secretary, and John R. Bolton, the national security adviser, scrambled to keep American strategy on track without mention of a withdrawal that would drastically reduce Washington’s influence in Europe and could embolden Russia for decades.
Now, the president’s repeatedly stated desire to withdraw from NATO is raising new worries among national security officials amid growing concern about Mr. Trump’s efforts to keep his meetings with Mr. Putin secret from even his own aides, and an F.B.I. investigation into the administration’s Russia ties.
There are few things that President Vladimir V. Putin of Russia desires more than the weakening of NATO, the military alliance among the United States, Europe and Canada that has deterred Soviet and Russian aggression for 70 years.

Welp, that didn't take long. You voted republican and look what you did. It was called the clean water act. You voted for those who said they would undo it, as well as the clean air act and other regulations.
Search your souls and find out why you drank the cool aid and believed liberals and those in the center weren't telling the truth when they warned of this. Why you chose to believe the republicans and supporters of big business were truthful when they told you it wouldn't happen so we didn't need these regulations.
This is what happens to those who believe it won't happen here and don't care about it happening elsewhere. Remember Flint? Your children are dying. And by the way so are you. The choices we make matter...
Now, who do you expect to pay for the clean up?

Trump Broods: How Can SNL Air ‘Total Republican Hit Jobs’ Without ‘Retribution?’
https://talkingpointsmemo.com/news/trump-broods-how-can-snl-air-total-
republican-hit-jobs-without-retribution
President Donald Trump on Sunday morning seethed about the “total Republican hit jobs” that aired on Saturday Night Live a few hours prior, wondering aloud about how the show could broadcast that material “without retribution.”
Poor little snowflake. SNL has never made fun of a president until Trump came along!
Do that shit in NK and see what happens!
I wonder if any of his stochastic terrorists will send them bombs?

Smaller tax refunds put GOP on defensive
The Trump administration and key GOP lawmakers are playing defense after early data showed Americans are getting smaller tax refunds in the first filing season under the GOP tax law.
The average refund size through Feb. 8 was 8.7 percent smaller than the same period last year, according to IRS figures. Democrats have seized on the numbers, arguing they prove that the 2017 tax-code overhaul by Republicans was a "scam" designed to help the wealthy at the expense of the middle class.

Ethically challenged: Three scandals rock Trump administration in one day
WASHINGTON — It's hard to keep up with all of the alleged scandals hitting the Trump administration. But here's what we learned in just one day yesterday:
Trump asked his acting attorney general to put a Trump ally, the U.S. attorney in New York, in charge of the Michael Cohen investigation, according to the New York Times. (Trump denied the story on Tuesday, saying: "That's more fake news.")
Whistleblowers "have told a congressional committee that efforts by former national security adviser Michael Flynn to transfer sensitive nuclear technology to Saudi Arabia may have violated the law, and investigators fear Trump is still considering it," NBC's Ken Dilanian reported.
"House and Senate Democrats say they have obtained evidence that a senior official at the Department of Education tried to oust the department's independent watchdog after she pushed back on an attempt to interfere in an active investigation of Secretary Betsy DeVos," per NBC's Heidi Przybyla.

Any one of these stories would have dominated the news — for days and weeks — in any other administration. But in our current era, it was just Tuesday.
