Hey Rue (comrade Kiki). First, yea America. Sorry you don’t practice this level of law in Russia. Hey, maybe someday. Here we celebrate the rule of law despite the protests of trolls. Here, unlike Russia, wrong doings that are uncovered are dealt with. Here, if enough evidence isn't uncovered to prove guilt beyond a shadow of a doubt, then that too is recognized. This happens regardless of our personal opinions. Again, yea America.

Robert Mueller’s mandate was very narrow. What if anything did Russia do during the campaign. Then, because of their behaviors, Trump and others working within his campaign with deep Russian ties, forced Mueller’s mandate to be expanded. He indicted 34 to 37 individuals. Six, seven whatever from within Trumps campaign. Also Indicted were thirteen Russians, three Russian companies. The level of detail Mueller presented in these indictments was astounding. All guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt.

That was the standard he used to determine if he could prove a Trump Russia conspiracy. He could not. However, we as a nation saw colluding for ourselves in Trumps behavior, plus Congress isn’t so restricted. The American people’s opinions are not so restricted either. Collusion will still be decided at the polls. It’s not a done deal.

Mueller stated in his report that he could not discount Trump obstructed justice. Further, if Mueller decided not to indict because of the Justice Department’s policy not to indict a sitting president, but felt Trump did commit obstruction, that is how he would proceed. His stating he could not discount obstruction puts the decision squarely in the hands of Congress. Mueller knows this. Barr showed poor judgement to say the least, deciding no obstruction occurred after only after a few hours reading Mueller’s report, when Mueller wouldn’t do it after investigating it for two years.

And thanks comrade Kiki. Thanks for re-posting some of my posts. After rereading them I was pleased to see that I showed such good judgement from beginning to current. It must be terrible for you seeing America shine while Russia fails so miserably.

Tick tock comrade

If you’re President Trump, what’s your best strategy for dealing with the Mueller report?

1) Insist loudly that the report completely exonerates you and you’re totally in favor of releasing the whole thing.

2) Do not, however, actually order the report released.

3) Instead, leave it up to the attorney general, who will stall for weeks or months. Let him take the heat for playing bad cop.

4) Hope that by the time the report is finally released, Russiamania will be played out and it won’t get much play.

And guess what? So far, this is exactly what’s happening:

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell on Monday blocked a measure aimed at prodding the Justice Department to release Robert Mueller’s report.

I'm not going to smooth out the problem of Trump because if he gets reelected, I am guaranteed more tax cuts: "The government set a record with a $234 billion deficit in February"

The government spent $234 billion more than it brought in through tax receipts last month, much more than the deficit levels hit during the global financial crisis.
President Mike Pence would not be irresponsible like Trump nor as helpful to the rich.

I won't vote for Trump, but I hope Donald J Trump gives himself and me many more tax cuts.

The $232 Billion Deficit for February 2012 may have been slightly smaller numerically, but it was of far greater impact, with the Debt being about half of today's level.

Agreed, when a prosecutor says “the investigation did not establish” an offense, that is not to say the crime wasn’t committed or that there was not evidence supporting it. It means that there was not sufficient proof of conspiracy or coordination to prove it beyond a reasonable doubt.

Signym, you won't call the Secret Service or your lawyer. You and Trump are all empty talk and play-acting. I figured you'd be an ass about Vietnam, same as Trump would. It was only last week Trump was bitching about John McCain's war record, inflating himself. Mr. Trump did not go to the Vietnam war. He has a consistent record about all wars, being for them, but if America loses he says he was always against.

On Sunday, Barr delivered to Congress a four-page letter characterizing Mueller’s report but leaving much to the imagination. Mueller went to church across the street from the White House and said nothing. Based on Barr’s letter, Trump and his team gleefully claimed, without any apparent fear of response from Mueller, “total and complete exoneration,” even though Mueller’s report, according to Barr’s own terse summary, explicitly said that the finding “does not exonerate” Trump.

It didn’t have to go down like this. Instead of remaining silent and secretive for almost two years, Mueller and his prosecutorial team could have acted more like the Justice Department itself does in ordinary times, holding press conferences and briefing reporters on background, explaining their decisions to indict and not indict and helping us all understand what was going on in this tense, intense investigation that goes to the very heart of how we govern ourselves and protect our electoral system. Mueller could have, and should have, stood before reporters and the American people to announce and explain his conclusions so we could all consider and debate their validity.

Prior investigations of presidents, by independent counsels Lawrence Walsh and Kenneth Starr, for example, who were criticized for their many public statements and voluminous public reports, may have caused Mueller to take his silent man approach, but he went too far. We needed to hear from him. We needed him to tell us what we could expect and fear, what was true and what was imagined as things unfolded in real time. As the Supreme Court said many years ago, “People in an open society do not demand infallibility from their institutions, but it is difficult for them to accept what they are prohibited from observing.”

It is not too late. We need to see the full Mueller report as soon as possible and hear from Mueller himself as to what led him to his conclusions and why he reached them.

For fat motherfucking Trump? Either that or speed up the justice system by a factor of 10. Trump will never come to justice because justice is ridiculously slow and Trump will die from obesity in less than two decade. If the system could come to a decision in two years, it would be great. That deadline has come & gone. Four years? Ain't happening. The case below got started in 2000, and it is nowhere near done although the Supreme Court did decide this week, only requiring 5 months to arrive at an 8 to 1 decision, to throw it back to the lower courts:

This case required 9 years for the Supreme Court to decide a letter was mailed to the wrong address. Their advice to the plaintiff was to please restart your lawsuit and mail your notification to the correct address:
http://cdn.cnn.com/cnn/2019/images/03/26/16-1094_3d94.pdf

We understand respondents’ exasperation and recognize that enforcing compliance with §1608(a)(3) may seem like an empty formality in this particular case, which involves highly publicized litigation of which the Government of Sudan may have been aware prior to entry of default judgment. But there are circumstances in which the rule of law demands adherence to strict requirements even when the equities of a particular case may seem to point in the opposite direction.

We therefore reverse the judgment of the Court of Appeals and remand the case for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.

It is so ordered.

The explanation is here:
www.cnn.com/2019/03/26/politics/supreme-court-sudan-uss-cole/index.htm
l

The challengers served a summons against Sudan by mailing papers to the Minister of Foreign Affairs via the embassy located in Washington, DC. After Sudan failed to respond within 60 days specified by law, the court entered default against Sudan for just over $314 million. Finally, in 2014, Sudan appealed, with its US-based attorney saying that the summons couldn't be served to the embassy and had to be sent "by any form of mail requiring a signed " receipt "addressed to the head of the ministry of foreign affairs."

But I'll just choose to quote this for posterity.

Hey T. It's not as if Second hasn't said this on quite a few occasions before, and in a much more violent and graphic explanation of what he would do and how he would do it, given his status in life.

I don't recall anyone being upset when Trump called a drone strike during an evening meal to impress Xi Jinping. Trump killed 9 civilians. Perhaps it was only entertainment and no reason to call into question fathead Trump's judgement. The confirmation that Trump killed the wrong people came only later, well after Trump and Xi forgot all the details, other than how much fun the chubby pair had overeating and laughing.
www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-syria-trump-idUSKBN1792W4

According to Syrian state news SANA, nine civilians were killed in the attack, including four children. SANA also stated that five of the civilians were killed in the village of Shayrat, outside the base, while another four were killed in the village of Al-Hamrat.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2017_Shayrat_missile_strike

This is why Presidents have a Secret Service: so that they can make frequent and fatally bad decisions and still live to make many more half-ass decisions and publish their ghostwritten memoirs, never worrying that any of their blunders will kill them. That wasn't the way it once was for Presidents. They took risks when they took the job. How many Presidents have been shot? Either nine or eleven, depending. Four presidents — Lincoln, Garfield, McKinley, and Kennedy — died. Five — Monroe, Jackson, Hayes, Teddy Roosevelt, and Reagan — survived. Two — Washington and Grant — were not significantly injured as a result of being shot.

As you might have guessed, I don't like the concept of an irresponsible White House run by a moron, where the consequence is never larger than losing an election four years later. The mass of voters can only remember accurately what happened for a day, so they don't really pass judgement on Presidents. Sadly, Presidential elections are more like an opinion poll asking what your favorite TV show is. And God is not standing at the President's shoulder, reminding him to make responsible decisions or else there will be an immediate penalty like a player would get from a referee. There is nothing stopping a President who has no conscience. And definitely not a bullet.

Don't try that shit. Blaming drone strikes or wars or coups on one President or ideological side is something we do when comparing what big pieces of evil shit all of them are... cause they all have done it or are currently doing it.

Using that to justify your somewhat frequently expressed desire to assassinate the president, and the violent fantasy you have of being the "hero" that did it isn't going to fly with anyone here, except for maybe Marcos.

Look, 6ix, you fucking moron, most of those deaths of civilians can be blamed on irresponsible military officers, not the President. But Trump has actually given orders that can only end in murdering civilians. Then he covers it up.

Getting back to the Mueller Investigation, Trump said he was "exonerated". Barr said very clearly Trump was "not exonerated". Trump has been corrected, but he keeps going back to saying not exonerated. Trump has no conscience about lying about this or civilian deaths or anything.

Not yet substantiated, but...

"Graham says Barr told him it would likely take “weeks not months” to get a version of the Mueller report viewable by the public. Said they will pass through the WH to see if they want to make redactions under executive privilege."

So if true, sterilize it completely and then release. Why am I not surprised?

Congress needs to bypass Barr as much as possible. They need to get Mueller to testify if they can.

Please don't pay attention to Trump accusing Democrats of treason, a crime for which they can be executed. Possibly that is why many cowardly, spineless Democrats want to give up on investigating Trump:

Many Democrats appeared eager to pivot back to health care, an issue that cut their way during last year’s midterm elections, after a summary of special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s report suggested it was far less damaging to Trump than many had expected.

And Republicans?

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Monday laid out his next steps for dealing with the aftermath of Robert Mueller’s investigation into President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign. First up: Launch an investigation into whether Hillary Clinton, Trump’s former democratic challenger, got help from President Barack Obama’s Department of Justice.

You have to applaud Republicans. They never gave up on Benghazi. That led directly to Hillary’s emails, and they never gave up on that. It seemed hopeless, but they never gave up. And in the end, they won. They managed to get even a buffoon like Donald Trump elected president.

Look at the big picture. We know almost nothing about the Mueller report except for the carefully curated excerpts provided by a partisan attorney general, but many Democrats are eager to give up anyway. Even though we almost literally know nothing. In the meantime, Republicans, based on nothing at all, are revving up yet another investigation of Hillary Clinton—who is now a private citizen and will never run for any public office again.

I don't recall anyone being upset when Trump called a drone strike during an evening meal to impress Xi Jinping. Trump killed 9 civilians. Perhaps it was only entertainment and no reason to call into question fathead Trump's judgement. The confirmation that Trump killed the wrong people came only later, well after Trump and Xi forgot all the details, other than how much fun they had overeating and laughing.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Hey, 6ix, Trump destroyed public discourse. Trump used the word treason. Trump has threatened to assassinate his political enemies. And he is not doing it anonymously. He is doing it as the head of the Republican Party. And Trump voters are not complaining about Trump. Instead, they complain about the people who speak in the same way as Trump, about killing their enemy. Trump voters should be complaining to Trump about his language. Maybe even complaining when he orders drone strikes while dining with Xi Jinping at Mar-a-Lago, strikes that kill children.

Trump insisted the Mueller investigation was the result of some sort of targeted effort by high-ranking officials to bring him down.

TRUMP: "It went very high up, and it started fairly low, but with instructions from the high up. This should never happen to a president again. We can't allow that to take place."

REPORTER: "Do you think it reached the West Wing of the Obama White House?"

TRUMP: "Yes. I don't want to say that, but I think you know the answer."

He doesn't provide evidence for these claims because a) none exists and b) his supporters don't require it.

Trump refuses to give up the idea that Mueller, a lifelong Republican handpicked for the special counsel job by Trump appointee Rod Rosenstein, was somehow leading an Obama-inspired bureaucratic coup against him EVEN AFTER Mueller's final report was as favorable to Trump as he could have wanted, speaks to the depths of Trump's commitment to his conspiracies.

When Trump made a claim that Obama had ordered his phone at Trump Tower tapped during the 2016 campaign, Trump never offered any proof; intelligence and national security officials denied it happened. Didn't matter. To this day, lots and lots of Trump supporters believe Obama did it.

The most that William Barr plans to make available is his own carefully curated version of the Mueller report. And even that will take several weeks. This is the exercise of raw power just because nobody can stop him. It’s very hard not to conclude from this that Mueller’s report has some pretty damaging details in it that will never see the light of day if Trump has his way.

This should be an outrage to everyone, regardless of party, but instead it looks like it will just fly under the radar. Trump says the Mueller report is a complete exoneration, and that’s the story they’re sticking with. Nobody will ever be allowed to know anything different.

After Watergate, it was unthinkable that a president would fire an F.B.I. director who was investigating him or his associates. Or force out an attorney general for failing to protect him from an investigation. Or dangle pardons before potential witnesses against him.

But the end of the inquiry by the special counsel, Robert S. Mueller III, made clear that President Trump had successfully thrown out the unwritten rules that had bound other chief executives in the 45 years since President Richard M. Nixon resigned under fire, effectively expanding presidential power in a dramatic way.

Mr. Mueller’s decision to not take a position on whether Mr. Trump’s many norm-shattering interventions in the law enforcement system constituted obstruction of justice means that future occupants of the White House will feel entitled to take similar actions. More than perhaps any other outcome of the Mueller investigation, this may become its most enduring legacy.

6ix, I've told you 100 times (making you resentful) that Trump's election was not a tragedy for me. The guy has been stuffing my bank account with money. It has never come in faster than now. If he crashes the economy or the stock market, I've got vast amounts of cash to buy assets cheaply, in the same way you bought a bank foreclosure house cheaply. His failures will increase my fortune. On the other hand, a Democratic President would have been completely stymied by the GOP Congress. If a Democrat is President in 2021, same thing happens. If Trump stays 6 more years, he will make me richer by far than a Democrat could. And Trump might even wreck the GOP's reputation in the same way Pres. Herbert Hoover did. Hoover's failures were followed by decades of much better government by Democrats. Many fortunes were made purchasing stocks cheaply after the Crash of 1929 as they were after the Crash of 2008, the one caused by Republican regulators' incompetence at controlling Wall St. and Bankers.
www.history.com/news/2008-financial-crisis-causes

I'm voting for the Democrats, but when Republicans win I will get paid a consolation prize worth $millions. For ideological reason, Democrats won't pay me because I already have more than 99% of Americans, but the GOP sure will pay.

Russiagate hysteria has ushered in a “dark period” for mainstream journalism, Wikileaks’ editor-in-chief told RT, adding that in a just world, the countless journalists who peddled the Russia collusion theory would be out of work.
Speaking to Going Underground host Afshin Rattansi, Kristinn Hrafnsson noted that within twenty-four hours of Hillary Clinton’s “humiliating” defeat in the 2016 election, “Russia became the entity that everything should be blamed on.” But with Robert Mueller’s special investigation ending with a collusion-less murmur, it’s difficult to imagine how journalism will ever recover from two years of Russiagate howling, Hrafnsson said.

We’ve had this frenzy in the media, an absolutely neo-McCarthyist era which is a total humiliation for journalism. Who has gained? I can tell you who has lost. Journalism in general has lost. This is an extremely dark period for mainstream media, especially in the United States and for those who cater to that market.

Insisting that the endless reams of anonymously-sourced collusion “scoops” amount to journalistic malpractice that far surpasses the Iraq WMD fiasco, the Wikileaks editor-in-chief expressed amazement that there has been little to no professional ramifications for reporters who bought into the baseless conspiracy.

I have no idea how the mainstream media, who were most active in this Russiagate frenzy, will recover. I simply don’t see that happening. In a normal world, a lot of journalists would be emptying their desks today.

He singled out Guardian reporter Luke Harding, who once called Wikileaks a “useful idiot” for Russia, and was behind a highly-controversial story published in November which alleged that former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort had made several visits to Julian Assange at the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. Wikileaks is currently suing The Guardian over the uncorroborated story.

“Who’s the idiot?” Hrafnsson asked. “Luke Harding published a book called ‘Collusion’ where he maintains that there had been collusion and that Wikileaks was in the midst of it. But his own paper is now printing front page stories telling him that he was wrong. I mean, does he still have a job at the Guardian?

And finally, the last and possibly most important result of the Russia gate hoax: Internet censorship.

Democrats, the compliant legacy media, and, most importantly, platform providers/internet publishers were quick to call for a culling of alternate viewpoints on the basis that it was "Russian propaganda". "Prop or not".

Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and Google were quick to deplatform, demonetize, or shadowban people who did not echo the RUSSIA!!RUSSIA!!RUSSIA!!! hysteria. Of all of the effects of this hoax, this may be the most pernicious and difficult to reverse.

So, for two years we have been treated to a targeted investigation which

Was based on an unverified "dossier" and illegal FISA warrants and carried out by a politicized FBI and CIA and DOJ, leading to loss of confidence in the objectivity of these agencies.

Involved foreign governments (primarily British MI6 but also Malta and Ukraine) who meddled in a USA election

Stampeded a large part of the population into believing that RUSSIA!!! is a mortal enemy and that Trump is a Russian puppet

Ruined any chance of normalizing relations with Russia and withdrawing our troops at least from Syria and the Mideast

Affected the midterm elections

Exposed the legacy media as lying whores who peddle fake news

Enabled censorship of alternate media/ viewpoints and stifled freedom of speech because of paranoia over "Russian propaganda"

The "Mueller Investigation" may be over but - just like the WMD hoax - its effects will go on and on.

*****

It has taken some people YEARS to accept that they were fooled by the "WMD" hoax, and to finally get over its emotional tug. I hope that those people have learned that the media engages in bald-faced lying. I can only hope that others will eventually come to accept the lessons of this latest hoax, stop reverberating emotionally from this deliberate propaganda campaign, and view the M$M and social media with appropriate skepticism.

Your article mentions conspiracy and collusion. Too bad for you, but neither of those words did Mueller give a damn about.

So where the heck did the term 'collusion' come from? From Manaford and Junior.

On July 22, 2016, the Washington Examiner reported that Paul Manafort and Donald Trump Jr “vigorously denied any kind of collusion between Trump Sr. and the Russian president.”

The word “collusion” came from Manafort and Trump Jr.

Did Mueller find any Russians, as he was requested to look into? Yes, he did:

Russian or related individuals and entities charged

In February 2018, the special counsel charged 13 Russians and three Russian entities with conspiring to defraud the United States and interfere with the 2016 presidential election. Mueller targeted the Internet Research Agency, a Kremlin-linked company that engages in influence operations and aimed to spread distrust toward candidates and the American political system. By mid 2016, the Internet Research Agency had established a strategy of supporting Trump’s candidacy and disparaging Clinton.

In July 2018, the special counsel indicted an additional 12 Russian intelligence officers for their role in the hacking of the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Clinton campaign, and leaking of emails and documents.

The special counsel also charged Richard Pinedo, a California resident, with identity fraud. Pinedo sold bank account numbers over the internet to the Russians. His lawyer said he had no connection to Trump and was unaware that customers were involved in the Russia influence operation. Pinedo pleaded guilty and was sentenced to six months in prison in October 2018.

Maria Butina, a Russian living in the United States, pleaded guilty to conspiring to act as an illegal foreign agent in December 2018. Butina has been accused of trying to infiltrate Republican power circles by reaching out through conservative groups such as the National Rifle Association. The indictment doesn’t mention Trump, although the New York Times reported that she tried to help broker a secret meeting with Trump and Putin during the 2016 campaign. Butina was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office in D.C. and not Mueller; however, she is cooperating with the Mueller investigation and in February federal prosecutors sought to delay her sentencing.

That’s where your brackets come in.

Our contenders are divided into four groups (not unlike NCAA conferences): the print journalists, the cable TV talkers, the Twitterati and the network news reporters and “analysts.” And the brackets are seeded, with the most visible and influential figures contending against the lesser-known.

Quoting this Epic Failure. Yes, this was really posted in this thread, not quoted from Troll Threads of the past 2 years.

Russian Government is now defined as 13 nobodies in EurAsia that Mueller's team could not even offer the flimsiest of responses to in court. Plus a dude in California, Republic of Moscow.

And relying upon the gullibility of anybody who still could believe that Hilliary's emails were "hacked" - or Podesta wasn't just plain stupid.

Take a note, JewelStaiteFan: Trump did not ask Putin to send these Russians to the USA for trial. Trump's State Department did not ask, either. Mueller cannot do it. It has to be Trump, but he did nothing. He never explained why not. It's weird, like Trump refusing to show his tax returns. What makes Trump think doing nothing is right?

So, Colbert mocks the hell out of Trump for things Trump never did, then mocks him for celebrating after 2+ years of a FAKE investigation and being hammered and ridiculed by everyone - including Collbert himself. And these cockwombles fabricated this ' treason ' hoax in the first place, so hell YEAH Trump is gonna shove it in their tiny little faces !

Made it through 2 minutes of this 9 minute video. FF to the part where Colbert actually admits that yes, he was wrong, and he's sorry for insulting the President w/ regards to his relationship to Putin ?

Trump talked about everything, except election law. That's how Trump swings. The reporters followed Trump's description of what Mueller was doing. The reporters ignored Rosenstein's description of Mueller's task.
www.lawfareblog.com/where-heck-did-term-collusion-come

Barr, the Attorney General and loyal Republican and Trump appointee, is keeping the Mueller report secret for no good reason, other than Trump doesn't want to talk about election law violations. The Democrats ought to ignore Barr and start to investigate whatever they want, not wait around for months or years to learn precisely what loyal Republican Mueller did under orders from loyal Republican and Trump appointee Rosenstein.

The Democrats were talking about Trump's tax returns, but it is 3 months later and they haven't done a damn thing, probably because they hoped Mueller subpoenaed the returns. What if he did not? Why would he? He wouldn't.

With special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election now over, some House Democrats are getting increasingly antsy about efforts to get a look at President Donald Trump's tax returns.

"It's long past time" to get Trump's returns, Democratic Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett, a member of the Ways and Means Committee, told CNN's Lauren Fox and Ellie Kaufman on Tuesday. That sentiment was echoed by New Jersey Rep. Bill Pascrell, another Ways and Means Democrat who has been outspoken about his frustration that committee chair Rep. Richard Neal (Massachusetts) has not yet set the wheels in motion on obtaining Trump's taxes.

The president’s haters no doubt wish to memory-hole collusion and move on to the next anti-Trump theory. But not so fast: We want to laurel the punditry “champion” — the one who peddled the most nonsensical nonsense, the wildest inanities, the weirdest theories and unsubstantiated stories.

Funny how many of those wacko losers in the brackets are the exacts sources of quotes by the Trolls here who do not accept real, reliable, accurate News sources.

I should admit, it is a little bewildering that there are higher Seeds than C@ckholsters Kimmel/Colbert.
Glad I managed to avoid all those Fake News outlets.

Also, is it discriminatory that only fat ugly women are allowed on that bracket? Are we to infer that all fat ugly women are stupid, ignorant, Evil?
And how is it that Brit Twit Corden doesn't even make the bracket?

people driving along a road lined with forest scenery and behind the plywood walls ecological devastation ...

a television store's multiple TV screens with a newcaster repeating the government news that the guerillas/terrorists have all be brought uner control ... right before the store is blown up ...

It’s probably here to stay, despite its being a legal non sequitur.
www.lawfareblog.com/where-heck-did-term-collusion-come

If Mueller wasn’t looking for “collusion”, what was he looking for?

“A full and thorough investigation of the Russian government’s efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election”
www.documentcloud.org/documents/3726408-Rosenstein-letter-appointing-M
ueller-special.html

I forgot one more ngative effect of this RUSSIA RUSSIA! hoax: It's sucked the oxygen out of the political-media sphere, and derailed the discussion of REAL problems. This isn't a problem for Trump's base but for liberal media and for the Democratic Party specifically. They wasted so much time and credibility on such a pointless topic that now that the rug has been pulled out from underneath them, it will take them some time to craft another winning message. Plus, the sudden change in topic risks making them look like liars and hypocrites to the approx one=third of Americans who see themselves as independant and not loyal to either party.

Pete Buttigieg is on a roll of late. And that extends to his spot-on analysis of why Democrats -- and Hillary Clinton in particular -- lost the 2016 election to President Donald Trump.

"We spent, I think, way too much time on our side talking about him," Buttigieg said in an interview with "The Breakfast Club," a New York City-based radio show, which ran Tuesday morning. "Our whole message was don't vote for him because he is terrible. And even because he is, that is not a message."

The rightness of Buttigieg's analysis speaks to his understanding of how voters think and the significant challenge that Trump still poses.

"I hate to say it, but Trump could absolutely win again," Buttigieg said. He's absolutely right.

“The rightness of Buttigieg’s analysis speaks to his understanding of how voters think . . .” Some examples of voter thinking:

1) Trump owes hundreds of millions in back taxes. Democrat and Republican voters shrug it off as nothing.
www.nytimes.com/interactive/2018/10/02/us/politics/donald-trump-tax-sc
hemes-fred-trump.html

2) What is Trump doing now? He continues to cheat on his taxes. That is shrugged off as nothing, too.

udit-if-he-released-tax-returns-idUSKCN1QG2X7

3) Who will make Trump pay? Not the Supreme Court. Those people are slow. This week the Supreme Court required 5 months to decide in an 8 to 1 vote that hinged on the wrong address written on an envelope mailed with the USPS. The case has been running for 9 years and the Supreme Court has thrown it back to the very beginning. The Supreme Court justices are innumerate lawyers who won't comprehend the numbers of a fast-talking, tax-cheating President.
www.cnn.com/2019/03/26/politics/supreme-court-sudan-uss-cole/index.htm
l

4) The Senate won’t look at Trump’s taxes.

5) Will the voters punish a tax cheater? Who among voters even comprehend what Trump did? Only the 1 Percenters and their accountants. They want to learn how Trump cheated. They want to copy his technique.

"I hate to say it, but Trump could absolutely win again," Buttigieg said.

A majority (56%) says the President and his campaign have not been exonerated of collusion, but that what they've heard or read about the report shows collusion could not be proven. Fewer, 43%, say Trump and his team have been exonerated of collusion.

What do your flies say about Trump's fizzled Moscow deal? Trump was making positive statements about Putin on the campaign trail at the same time he needed support from the Russian government for his project. Yet he hid this conflict from American voters and lied to keep it secret. Cohen lied to Congress about this project to protect Trump, and that’s one reason Cohen is heading to prison.

Trump’s duplicity compromised him.

Putin and the Russians obviously knew about this deal Trump was hiding from American voters. So at any time they could reveal it and expose Trump’s mendacity. He willingly placed himself at the mercy of a foreign adversary—as it was preparing a covert operation to corrupt an American election.

As the official GOP nominee, Trump received a classified intelligence briefing that included the intelligence community’s assessment that Moscow was the perpetrator in the email-hack-and-wikileak-dump operation. Despite knowing, Trump repeatedly downplayed or denied Russian involvement. He did this in public statements and at the debates. Rue, is reality only what Trump says it is?

This stance turned Putin’s attack into a political dispute. Top Republicans (and Trump-cheering pundits in the media) generally followed his lead and declined to rally against the Russian assault. This prevented the coalescing of a focused national response to Putin’s war on the election. (Mitch McConnell torpedoed the Obama administration’s request for a bipartisan pre-election statement calling out the Russians, for one example. www.kentucky.com/opinion/editorials/article120718538.html )

Despite the attack and the official Obama announcement, Trump stuck to his false line: the Russians should not be held accountable. An overseas foe was striving mightily to undermine a US election, and Trump had been told this privately by US intelligence, and the US government had issued a public declaration. Yet Trump echoed and amplified Moscow’s denials. He was siding with the enemy.

A candidate seeking the job of defending the United States was facilitating an attack on the nation. And after winning the White House, Trump would keep on protecting Putin by dismissing Russian involvement and the significance of the attack.

Trump has diverted attention from the fact that he facilitated an assault on his own country. That may or may not have been illegal per Mueller’s report. But it was betrayal. It was treachery.

The bottom line was established before Mueller submitted his report: Trump committed the most significant political misdeed in American history. The public did not need the Mueller report to confirm this. The foundation of this scandal has for long resided within plain sight.

2) What is Trump doing now? He continues to cheat on his taxes. That is shrugged off as nothing, too.

That South Bend Mayor is on Co-Bear tonight.
