As a reminder to those who might believe Signym, there was an indictment of 12 Russian military intelligence officials in connection with the 2016 election hacks and the resulting distribution of purloined emails. This was because of the investigation over which the president of the United States fired James Comey as FBI director. This is the investigation Comey confirmed on March 20, 2017, when he told Congress, “I have been authorized by the Department of Justice to confirm that the FBI, as part of our counterintelligence mission, is investigating the Russian government's efforts to interfere in the 2016 presidential election.”
This was also the investigation that multiple Republican controlled congressional committees have spent more than a year seeking to discredit—most recently Thursday, when two House panels hauled the former deputy assistant director of the FBI’s Counterintelligence Department, Peter Strzok, a career FBI agent who worked on the Russia probe, up to Capitol Hill for 10 hours of public, televised, abusive conspiracy theorizing. When the president of the United States derides the Mueller investigation as a “witch hunt,” and when congressional Republicans scream at FBI agents, this is the investigation they are trying to harass out of existence.
It is, therefore, fitting that this indictment of 12 Russian military intelligence officials comes less than one day after the astonishing display House Republicans put on in the Strzok hearing. If Mueller had been trying to remind the public of what the investigation is really about and what the stakes are in it, if he had been trying to make a public statement in response to the Strzok hearing, he could not have timed this action better.

4. By in or around April 2016, the Conspirators also hacked into the computer networks of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and the Democratic National Committee. The Conspirators covertly monitored the computers of dozens of and DNC employees, implanted hundreds of files containing malicious computer code (“malware”), and stole emails and other documents from the DCCC and DNC.

WASHINGTON, July 2 (Reuters) - A CIA review released on Wednesday found flaws in the production of a U.S. intelligence assessment that Russian President Vladimir Putin sought to sway the 2016 U.S. presidential vote to Donald Trump, but it did not contest that conclusion.
The review "does not dispute the quality and credibility" of a highly classified CIA report that the assessment's authors relied on to reach that conclusion, it said.
But the review questioned the "high confidence" level that the CIA and FBI assigned the conclusion. It should have instead been given the "moderate confidence" rating reached by the communications-monitoring U.S. National Security Agency, the review said.
Trump, who has a history of quarreling with U.S. intelligence analyses, has previously rejected that intelligence assessment, which was made public in an unclassified version in January 2017. After a November 2017 meeting with Putin, he said that he believed the Russian leader's election meddling denials.
CIA Director John Ratcliffe, a former congressman who served as director of national intelligence in Trump's first term, ordered the review and its "lessons learned"
