Its victims were not only Michigan residents. Kommersant also discovered the distribution of databases of voters of the states of Connecticut, Arkansas, Florida and North Carolina at the site. Each of the archives contains from 2 million to 6 million lines. Voter bases are not limited to. The same hacker also sells the personal data of 62,000 patients at the Brooklyn Center for Surgery in New York.

Campaign Chairman Paul Manafort, chosen by Trump even though his controversial Russia ties were well known, met regularly with his associate Konstantin Kilimnik. The Senate Intelligence report labels Kilimnik, "a Russian intelligence officer."

Not perhaps, not suspected: a Russian intelligence officer.


The only logical reason Putin is again working to get Trump elected now, which US Intelligence recently concluded, is because Trump is doing such a fine job of chipping away at US democracy.

Trump told special counsel Robert Mueller he did not recall talking about it with Stone or anyone in the campaign. The Senate report said, "Trump did, in fact, speak with Stone and Wikileaks and with members of his campaign" about it on "multiple occasions." The Committee provides a litany of examples of mutual benefit by Russia and the Trump campaign, and Trump's personal involvement.

Daniel Goldman, counsel in the House impeachment: "There was plenty of evidence of a criminal conspiracy...there not only was evidence of collusion but there was, in fact, collusion."

Just a few days ago, Trump retweeted to his 85 million followers an audio recording that US intelligence says is part of the Kremlin's operation against the 2020 US election.

As Trump was amplifying Kremlin disinformation, Russia television was gleefully showing images of America's blue mailboxes, stacked high on the back of a truck, as evidence of America's dysfunctional, untrustworthy democracy - the message from the Kremlin and from the Oval Office are one and the same.

The real "Russia Hoax," we now know, is Trump's absurd claim that the entire investigation into his ties with Moscow in 2016 were fabricated out of thin air. If Trump has one talent, it is marketing, branding, creating something out of nothing. Or, in this case, nothing out of something.

It is happening again. Putin wants Trump to win, but not because he cares about Trump; not because he respects or admires him. Russia's target is American democracy, but this time it doesn't need to work very hard at trying to destroy it.

Trump is trying to bulldoze the system, using Russian propaganda in the process, and he's not even being subtle about it.

Although the U.S. Department of Justice under Attorney General William Barr publicly released the Mueller report on April 18, 2019, it has only been available to the public in redacted form. But on Wednesday, Judge Reggie Walton ruled that parts of the Mueller report were improperly redacted by Barr — and Walton has ordered the DOJ to release those parts of the report before Election Day.

According to BuzzFeed News, those parts of former Special Counsel Robert Mueller's final report for the Russia investigation appear to deal with, among other things, Russian hacking of Democratic National Committee e-mails in 2016 and the Trump campaign's interest in those e-mails.

The ruling and an accompanying order mean the Justice Department will be obliged to unveil at least 15 previously blacked-out pages from Volume 1 of Special Counsel Robert Mueller's 448-page report on the investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election, on or before November 2. In addition to charging decisions, those pages appear to involve discussions related to the hack of e-mails from the Democratic National Committee in early 2016 and the Trump campaign's interest in those documents when WikiLeaks released them that June.

Trump and his allies have even gone so far as to demand or suggest that President Barack Obama and former Vice President Joe Biden should be charged with actual crimes -- again, resting much of their case on unverified Russian chatter and other cherry-picked material that the Central Intelligence Agency and National Security Agency warned against releasing, as CNN previously reported.

It's the latest episode in a long-running attempt by Trump and right-wing media to portray the Obama administration as nefarious actors who sought to launch a coup of an incoming Republican administration. This "deep state" conspiracy has been thoroughly discredited.

What makes this situation more alarming is that John Ratcliffe, Trump's Director of National Intelligence who declassified the documents, appears to be selectively doing so to help Trump accuse his 2020 opponent of committing a crime -- all with the help of a major US media organization.
