Alt sites are all a-Twitter (so to speak) about Qanon, who claims to have Q-clearance and posts frequently on 4chan and 8chan. I have no idea who Q-Anon is, but thought to bring this here just as a item of current interest.

If Q-anon is on nymag dot com then maybe like Anonymous or AlexJones...its maybe about to get a bucket load of mainstream coverage

From memory I have seen these posts maybe no more than 10 times, I could come across one randomly in a news feed. Reading this stuff are we getting trolled?

Q anon links? They bounce me across the internet places like twitter, blogs, youtube, 4chan, anonymous, steemit, reddit, minds...not the dark web but the underbelly of mainstream internet I feel kinda hacker'ish places... the posts are always cryptic, deal mostly with US politics, they are worded with statements, questions, more statements and a series of questions. I feel the person may be just a troll or from a number of areas maybe media or who knows US military or former police intelligence or tv or politics or something, or else they are some clever over seas freak or hacker autistic trolling the hell out of everyone.... the posts are kinda coded, riddler, cryptic. There seems to be a trend in the writing style, by a certain way of talking or underlying theme? A name Qanon is also a shapeshifter genie from anime cartoons but I do not think that applies, more like Q for something and anonymous? I think they first identified as a 'Patriot' with some inside knowledge maybe on a scandal or Clinton hack of Bernie election or some email scandal thing, I'm not sure what the posts ever meant. Sometimes they’re dropping info bits and hints on things that, should be beyond obvious? They or he/she would say look here....bla bla Saudi....something something money....bla bla Clinton. I was basically weird like it was a prank, you just got trolled or a piece entertainment like the Deep Throat dude from the Xfiles show. The person would put together a huge ton of thought provoking questions...some seemed un-connected but some may be connected, which lead to some internetz people believing his predictions were true or predictions of events that never ended up happening. The guy read like a conspiracy blog and asks strange questions that he knows truther nut jobs will assume and buy into? its kinda like some random post in a firefly political conspiracy thread or a caller ringing in Bannon at some ufo truther coast 2 coast radio with random questions? I don't know maybe this 'Q' person is real, the alt media probably refers to him on a quiet media day when nothing else is in the news.

Stuff sounds too weird to be real, maybe the plot of the next Hollyweird blockbuster james bond movie
'Q-Anon seems to have become a life in itself, an internet meme come to life? Chuck Norris facts...like a viral downfall vid? puppy gif Lolcat – or troll post like the Kek Frog Internet food bucket challenge or Polandball...if they try Ban it, then it will only become stronger

It might also be a social thing, people's general distrust of the media and need to believe in something as religion and God change in people's lives and people become more Atheist...they still need to believe something like aliens or conspiracy or the next 'Q'?

Mr. Silverstein, founder and editor of WashingtonBabylon.com who wrote the story for Vice.com, defended Mr. Simpson as a solid source of information that must first be confirmed.

For years, Fusion GPS has been an influential hidden hand in Washington, with entree into the city’s most powerful news bureaus.

Behind the scenes, the private intelligence firm run by former Wall Street Journal reporters was particularly active last year working to defeat Mr. Trump. Fusion leader Mr. Simpson, who railed against sleazy opposition research as a reporter, harbored a strong desire to bring down the builder of hotels with, well, opposition research.

Ironically, it appears The Times was the first to out Fusion on Jan. 11 as the source of the scandalous dossier that BuzzFeed posted the previous day. BuzzFeed did the posting without identifying Fusion or dossier writer Christopher Steele ...

Bill Clinton lied under oath. He paid a $ 850,000 settlement vs Paula Jones. So much against Trump has been fully fabricated, while things about Bill, Hillary, Huma, et al are not only valid, true, but coming out, more and more.

The thing about PN is that he wasn't all wrong. MK Ultra? Happened. Manchurian candidate experiments on people, doping them with LSD, extreme sensory deprivation etc. I'll bet a lot of the records of some of the more extreme experiments were destroyed. Bohemian Grove really exists.

It took me a decade to figure out what PN was driving at with his British Crown-Communist-Templar-Nazi-(fillintheblank) conspiracy. Well, TRUMP appears to be paying attention and responding to 'Q'. There was a challenge to 'Q' to have Trump say a strange phrase - in this case "tippy-top" - in order to prove that Trump is reading 'Q', and sure enough- Trump did.

Qanon is an emergent right wing death cult that claims a satanic cabal of wealthy left wingers are secretly running the US, and that Donald Trump and the right wing fringe are combating them in the shadows, that only an enigmatic and all knowing prophet named Q can speak the truth about these things, and that he does so by posting gibberish on 4chan.

It's a nutjobby combination of the satanic panic, blood libel, various antisemitic tendencies, and the reptilian crazies that emerged from the post infowars crowd on 4chan as a hoax (with the original Q poster being unmasked some time ago as a 4chan administrator) but it gained overwhelming popularity with unstable fringers who don't get the joke, who've incorporated it into a miasma of fundamentalist christian heresies and begun treating it as a literal religious dogma mostly unrelated to actual posts by Q with, unbelievably, thousands of followers. Those followers are decentralized, completely unaware they're in a cult, and all seem to think they're still following whatever religious faith they originally professed, despite literally revering Trump as an angel of God. They exhibit weird mood shifts when posting- to one another they're damn near euphoric about their coming victory and whatever nonsense word salad was in the latest "Q-drop". To anyone they perceive as left leaning they go into a state of diaphragm straining rage about "BABIES BEING RAPED". They spend a lot of time thinking about children being raped. Like, a lot of time.

Unfortunately, because it's gained a lot of followers on the hard right scene, it's begun to attract the sort of politicians who want that vote bloc, which means we currently have real senate candidates who believe (or claim to believe) and act on the belief that billionaire George Soros is trafficking adrenochrome harvested from kidnapped (implicitly white, or they wouldn't care) children as a satanic ritual to unseat Trump, the avatar of an archangel.

If those pastors don’t understand the role Christianity played in convincing people to adopt comforting myths that defy common sense, they have no chance of "saving" the people who need to be "rescued."

Why is the connection between evangelicals and Q supporters so strong? Both overlap on their beliefs that liberals are bad, Trump is good, that believers are victims at the mercy of the powerful, and that a savior is there to rescue them.

I would also argue that when you belong to a religion that tells you to dismiss logic and reason in favor of faith and obedience, it’s not that big of a leap for worshipers to accept a different kind of mythology. If the members of your church are spreading QAnon memes online, then maybe you weren’t doing that great of a job teaching them how to think for themselves.

Facebook said the change is an update on the policy it created in August that initially only removed accounts related to the QAnon conspiracy theory that discussed violence, which resulted in the termination of 1,500 pages, groups and profiles.

A company spokesperson said the enforcement, which started Tuesday, will “bring to parity what we’ve been doing on other pieces of policy with regard to militarized social movements,” such as militia and terror groups that repeatedly call for violence.

“Starting today, we will remove Facebook Pages, Groups and Instagram accounts for representing QAnon. We’re starting to enforce this updated policy today and are removing content accordingly, but this work will take time and will continue in the coming days and weeks,” Facebook wrote in a press release. “Our Dangerous Organizations Operations team will continue to enforce this policy and proactively detect content for removal instead of relying on user reports.”

The spokesperson said the company believed it needed to limit the “ability of QAnon and Militarized Social Movements to operate and organize on our platform.”

Belief in this conspiracy theory has been growing over the years, and many QAnon supporters have been seen at Trump rallies.
