Many friends use me as their canary, asking me if I react to certain brands or products, and which ones I use in order to avoid a reaction. They use my reactions as a gauge of whether they will feed their kids or themselves the products. Does this stronger reaction by my immune system mean mine is weaker or stronger? Following my first covid, I experienced my first bout with RA, which seemed to me just a more severe reaction to BGH.

If a greater sensitivity means stronger immune system, then that applies to me.
If a strong immune system means weaker sensitivity, withstanding smoking tobacco every hour, letting poisons and pollutants sneak up on immune unawares, then this does not apply to me.

I think I prefer an immune system which is more vigilant, more reactionary, more sensitive, more robust.

Maybe that is all opposite of your logic.

I still don't understand your dismissal of the virus, and your fear of a vaccine that represents literally a fraction of the whole virus.

The good news is, if your brother and sister in law were vaccinated at least three weeks ago, then they are unlikely to get very ill. And if they caught Omicron, then the risk of serious illness is virtually non-existent.

Altho I'm sure you're convinced your niece's ears and nose will fall off some time in the future, or some such.
I didn't see mention that bro and wife were vaxxed. Although that might be implied.

I have no idea if or when they were. I assume they were... At least they'd better fucking have gone ahead and done it themselves before if not at least along side of them shooting my niece up with an experimental drug for no good fucking sellout reason.

All I know is my niece didn't have Covid, then she got an experimental drug and got Covid within a week and spread it to her family.

There are at least a dozen components to the immune system, and I don't know MOST of them, so... not an expert here.

But the "allergy" reaction (which involves three or four components of your immune system- mast cells, histamine, and immunoglubulin E AKA "IgE" IIRC) are not the same as the part of the immune system that killds pathogens. And THAT is not the same as the part of the immune system that patrols for weak or defective cells. Which is not necessarily the same part that causes autoimmune response... inappropriate attack of the immmune system on healthy normal cells (like RA).

So you could have very strong allergic responses (you might want to look up "mast cell activation syndrome" and see if that description fits you) but not be very good at killing pathogens. Or you could have exaggerated cytokine production ... the chemicals that cause pain, headache, and fever... and not have an allergic response.

Allergic response to inhaled allergens involves sneezing, drippy stuffy nose and eye watering. VERY strong allergic response can involve fever as well (hence "hay fever"). Allergies to food or bee stings can involve tongue, face or lip swelling, hives, or in severe cases anaphylactic shock. Joint pain is not an allergic response, and neither is coughing with wheezing... that's something else.

Anyway, it's not accurate to classify someone's immune system as being "strong" or "weak". Some parts can be hypervigilant, and some can be weak. So it depends.

I was in Illinois where they still have a mask mandate for a few days with my Dad and brother. Every place we went into had signs requiring masks.

I didn't wear one the whole time. I wasn't the only person either. I'd say about 1/3rd of the people I saw weren't wearing masks.

Unlike a year ago, not one single employee in any establishment said shit to me about it. I got a few people giving me stares, but I've got a sick death stare that I love giving people like that and after just a few seconds of that they put their heads down with their tails between their legs.

By the end of the trip my old man and brother weren't wearing their masks anymore either.

Hopefully they keep that up now that the pack leader isn't around.

Vaccines continued to provide strong protection against death from COVID-19 in December, even against the new omicron variant, according to state data released Friday.

Unvaccinated Texans were 16 times as likely to die from the virus in December, and were two times as likely to test positive for it. That gap has shrunk from the fall, likely due to omicron's increased transmissibility.

The divide was most evident for Texans between 65 and 75 years old, who were 19 times more likely to die from COVID if they were unvaccinated. Nearly 80,000 COVID deaths have been reported in Texas since the pandemic began, the majority of them in 2021, when vaccines became available. Just under 1,600 deaths were reported to the state in December.

As of Friday, 62 percent of Texans over age 5 were fully vaccinated, up about four percentage points from November.

I have noticed that the people who voted for Trump have no qualms in lying about vaccines, but why should they, since no one will force them to stop? The Confederates had no qualms in lying about slavery (in their own words slavery is a healthy and wholesome way to organize agriculture) but eventually the Confederates attempted to move slavery into free states. The Civil War didn't change any Confederate minds about the freedom to own slaves, but at least it killed some of those liars. Not being vaccinated kills some anti-vaccine liars, but death doesn't change the live liars' opinion about the freedom to be unvaccinated.

Immunohistochemistry using antibody binding to LINE-1 open reading frame-1 RNA-binding protein (ORFp1) on Huh7 cells treated with BNT162b2 indicated increased nucleus distribution of LINE-1. PCR on genomic DNA of Huh7 cells exposed to BNT162b2 amplified the DNA sequence unique to BNT162b2. Our results indicate a fast up-take of BNT162b2 into human liver cell line Huh7, leading to changes in LINE-1 expression and distribution. This memorandum describes evidence recently obtained by the Select Subcommittee showing that a Trump Administration appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Senior Advisor Paul Alexander, privately strategized with other top Administration officials as far back as June 2020 about pursuing a so-called “herd immunity” strategy in response to the coronavirus pandemic. Dr. Alexander explicitly endorsed allowing the disease to spread widely among "infants, kids, teens, young people, young adults, middle aged with no conditions etc.,” writing, ‘‘we use them to develop herd...we want them infected.” The views expressed in these private communications were later echoed by President Trump and other officials, raising the serious possibility that key Administration officials have pursued a deliberate or reckless policy of allowing Americans to be infected with the coronavirus.

Consistent with a “herd immunity” approach, the evidence obtained by the Select Subcommittee shows that Dr. Alexander privately acknowledged to other appointees that “we always knew” that “cases will rise” as a result of the Administration’s policies. Yet even as he advocated for letting the coronavirus spread widely. Dr. Alexander also attempted to pass blame for the Administration’s failure to contain the virus to career scientists and public health officials. He also urged colleagues to suppress scientific information about the risk posed by the virus to minority communities that he admitted was “very accurate” out of concern that it would be “used against the president.”

The Select Subcommittee obtained these documents in its ongoing investigation of political appointees’ interference in the work of career officials at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) during the coronavirus pandemic.

The “Nuremberg Code” gambit

I think it would be a mistake to ignore the rising call on the far right for meting out "justice" against health care professionals, public health offices, and the likes. There are 3 grades of calls for justice, in the style or manner of the Nuremberg trials:

1) Some of the calls are subtle: people should "held accountable".
Now that the politics favor the pandemic ending, the pandemic is ending.
It was a coalition of regular people (working-class, poor, moms) who forced the shift. Next, they will hold accountable the people who pushed the lockdowns to answer for the destruction they caused.

2) Some are less subtle. We should have trials (of some sort, though probably not this sort).
Experts made a lot of Covid mistakes, some of which are understandable. But with school closures and denying natural immunity, I’m all for public trials.

3) Some aren't subtle in the least:
Health Ranger: It’s time to arrest, prosecute and EXECUTE researchers who use human children for covid vaccine medical experiments

What they all have in common is that they are coming from people whose rhetoric is collectively responsible for hundreds of thousands of deaths and who will never be "held accountable", "tried", or worse for that.

Antivaxxers love to claim that vaccine mandates (especially COVID-19 vaccine mandates) violate the Nuremberg Code. As usual, they have no idea what they are talking about.

I have a Trumptard story about how they mentally process information. After this incident I asked these two guys two questions. What do you think of Trump? Of Biden? I'm certain they are Trumptards. Here is the story from yesterday:

I get an oil change and then an inspection of my catalytic converter. The first Trumptard asks me to start the car for the inspection. I tell him, "There is NO OIL in the engine." (If I start the car, I ruin the engine.) Trumptard #2 said there was oil. He is confused because there is a second car getting its oil changed. These Trumptards are arguing with me, as I am sitting in car, that they are right and I am wrong. I have to get out of car, pull the dipstick out, wipe it, reinsert, pull it out again to show these two numbskulls that there is NO OIL. I had told these two Trumptards a hard fact - NO OIL - and the Trumptards tell me FAKE NEWS - they don't believe me. Trumptards are both stupid and conceited about their intelligence. But at least the new oil filter and drain plug didn't leak on my garage floor, so they tightened those two things correctly -- a big win for me and them that I didn't have to come back a second time.

Unlike the oil level in an engine, there are many things in politics and medicine that can't be proved quickly and easily to the satisfaction of Trumptards. These bonehead Trumptards call everybody liars and declare facts as FAKE NEWS when it is the Trumptards that are wrong.
