By roughly 50% on many of their programs. After stomping MSNBC for years - the tables have turned, and MSNBC has been topping Fox in most time slots since the lecetion. And CNN's ratings have been growing, too. O'Reilly is their only prime time show to still beat MSNBC, and the margin has closed considerably.

98% of the country does not watch CNN. FOX has more viewers then the other news networks combined. CNN used to have credibility and was a decent network...then Bill Clinton was elected and its been downhill ever since. Mr. Morgan has a better show then Larry King did...but then again Larry King died in 1995 and just forgot to mention it to anyone. Morgan was window dressing but brought little or nothing to a failing news network and a format that was outdated ten years ago.
CNN needs to reinvent itself instead of trying to recapture what they lost 15 years ago. They should start trying to out fox FOX. Its been over a decade since FOX started kicking everyone's asses, come up with the next big thing, not a retread of the same worn style and slant. My suggestion...try unbiased coverage of the news and strict non-partisan or balanced commentary. FOX leans right, but there is signifigant back and forth on the shows, try that but from the dead center of the political aisle and I suspect they could draw viewers from all sides and reclaim the lead.

This is beginning to be something of a trend. Last week MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow and Lawrence O’Donnell crushed their Fox News competition – again. The week-long average for Maddow in the 25-54 demographic was 378,000, vs. Sean Hannity’s 352,000. O’Donnell bested Greta Van Susteren 359,000 to 245,000.
The frequency with which MSNBC is topping Fox dispels any notion that this is an anomaly. In fact, from election day through November 30, Maddow and O’Donnell beat Hannity and Van Susteren by 13% and 20% respectively. The full primetime averages for this period for Fox and MSNBC are separated by only 2% with O’Reilly lifting Fox barely into the lead.
Fox News can no longer boast that they are the runaway leader in cable news. Before long they may not be the leader at all. Their audience may be tiring of being lied to and they might not appreciate the filters that Fox has put between them and the real world. There can be only so many times that someone can discover that what they thought they knew for sure was not even close to correct. And people who get their news from Fox have been in that situation too many times already.
Even Fox News executives recognize that by building a bubble of misinformation they alienate their viewers and destroy their credibility (what little they have). Consequently, Fox CEO Roger Ailes has thrown a rug over two of his top contributors, Karl Rove and Dick Morris. Producers must now get prior permission before booking them. Not that that alone would change much, because Sarah Palin, Donald Trump, and the rest of the Fox menagerie will still be honking feverishly at perceived enemies and invented scandals.
In the coming months there may be some dramatic shifts in the cable news arena. Fox’s wobbly leadership will continue to be challenged by MSNBC’s post-election burst of energy. And CNN will likely being putting pressure on both when their new president takes the helm in late January. At this point, I wouldn’t place any bets because literally anything can happen. Who would have predicted a year ago that a lesbian Rhodes scholar (Maddow) would be knocking out the boob tube’s biggest boob (Hannity)?
[Update:] Jealously rears its ugly head. In retaliation for having the audacity to get better ratings than Hannity, Fox is now bashing Maddow for getting a Grammy nomination for the spoken word reading of her book, Drift: The Unmooring Of American Military Power. And the tone of Fox’s attack is typically juvenile as they resort to calling her “Rachel Madd-Cow.”

Piers Morgan (CNN) thought he might pump up his horrendous ratings and avoid having to go back to England. So he invited Alex Jones to come east and appear on his show.
They would discuss gun control and the petition to have Morgan deported. It would be good television. An interesting conversation. Perhaps things would get contentious.
But Morgan’s producers and bookers had made a fatal error of judgment.
To say Alex was loaded for bear is a vast understatement.
He crashed the television party in a way it’s never happened before.
You could call it: the internet invades mainstream media. But that doesn’t begin to do it justice.
This was one man attacking the whole rotting corpse of major media, attacking the fascists of the federal government, attacking the psychiatric/pharmaceutical cartel for dispensing drugs that cause people to kill other people, attacking the host of the show for daring to come to these shores with his putrid put-on Brit arrogance, attacking the brain-dead premise that fewer gun murders equals a far, far better nation (England), swearing an oath that the US government will not disarm the citizenry…and Alex made all this happen in just the first seven minutes of the interview.
You could go back in the archives and comb through the history of television in this country and never find seven minutes like this. Never.
It broke through the fake civility of moronic, pundit-driven, stacked-to-the-ceiling-with-utter-bullshit news programs like a car driving through a showroom window at 80mph.
Go to infowars and watch it.
Then tell yourself you’re not dreaming, because you’re not. It happened.
If you were, by chance, tuned to the BCS championship game between Alabama and Notre Dame and missed the real slaughter on CNN, catch it.
According to Alex, one of Pier’s producers broke down and cried during the interview. Oh dear. Horrid. I hope the producer had friends to console her in their little mutually constructed elite bubble. Cocktails, tranqs, perhaps a visit to a shrink might be in order. No doubt, this is a case of PTSD, and might necessitate a long recovery.
No, the idiots at CNN were definitely not ready for this. They were blindsided. Piers tried to remain calm. That was his only strategy. He would be the voice of reason. Stiff upper lip and all that.
It worked about as well as waving a feather in front of a typhoon.
Which, when you think about it, is how the people of England handle their fascist government and their falling-apart society. “Look at us, we’re clueless with feathers.”

I’m sure there are some boomer gun advocates out there who think Alex “presented an unfortunate face of the responsible gun-owner community.” They’re dead wrong. They don’t understand what an attack against tyranny requires. They never have.

Jones' official biography on Infowars cites Thomas Jefferson and George Washington as influences and describes him as "a dedicated and aggressive Constitutionalist" defending the Bill of Rights.
That includes support for the Branch Davidian church, which gained notoriety during a 1993 shootout and ensuing 50-day standoff with federal agents in Waco, Texas.
Later, Jones led an effort to rebuild the church, according to his biography.
His aim with his radio show, website and films is to convince and warn, intensely.
"They say the pen is mightier than the sword," Genesis touts, "but in the case of Alex Jones, the microphone is mightier than depleted uranium."
The Anti-Defamation League says Jones surpasses conservative radio host Glenn Beck for anti-government hostility, placing both on the "extreme fringes."
In 2009, Psychology Today said Jones hand picks facts to drive home his theories. It posed the question: "When does incredulity become paranoia?"
"Information is the conspiracy theorists' weapon of choice because if there's one thing they all agree on, it's that all the rest of us have been brainwashed," writes psychologist John Gartner.
Their theories range from "suspicion to full-on paranoia," he writes, and they see arguments to the contrary by others as attempts to cover up the evidence.
Jones, of course, doesn't see it that way.
Arguments in favor of gun control, for instance, are nothing but blunt efforts to demolish democracy and usher in a new age of totalitarianism.

It also didn't specify where the journalist worked or in what capacity - leaving open whether they were a commentator, reporter, editor or something else across the media spectrum.
The only known American member of the news media subpoenaed in Mueller's probe is Jerome Corsi, a right-wing commentator called to testify over his connections to Trump ally Roger Stone.
But the report didn't specify whether the journalist was involved in Stone's trial or any other prospective or filed charges from Mueller's investigation.

A federal judge on Tuesday refused to dismiss an indictment charging four alleged leaders of the far-right Proud Boys with conspiring to attack the U.S. Capitol to stop Congress from certifying President Joe Biden's electoral victory. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly rejected defense attorneys' arguments that the four men — Ethan Nordean, Joseph Biggs, Zachary Rehl and Charles Donohoe — are charged with conduct that is protected by the First Amendment right to free speech.
Kelly said the defendants had many non-violent ways to express their opinions about the 2020 presidential election. “Defendants are not, as they argue, charged with anything like burning flags, wearing black armbands, or participating in mere sit-ins or protests," Kelly wrote in his 43-page ruling. “Moreover, even if the charged conduct had some expressive aspect, it lost whatever First Amendment protection it may have had." Nordean, Biggs, Rehl and Donohoe were indicted in March on charges including conspiracy and obstructing an official proceeding. All four of them remain jailed while they await a trial scheduled for May.
Defense lawyers also argued that the obstruction charge doesn't apply to their clients' cases because Congress’ certification of the Electoral College vote was not an “official proceeding." Kelly disagreed. Earlier this month, another judge in the District of Columbia's federal court upheld prosecutors’ use of the same obstruction charge in a separate case against two riot defendants. The case against Nordean, Biggs, Rehl and Donohoe is a focus of the Justice Department's sprawling investigation of the Jan. 6 insurrection.
More than three dozen people charged in the Capitol siege have been identified by federal authorities as Proud Boys leaders, members or associates, including at least 16 defendants charged with conspiracy. Last Wednesday, a New York man pleaded guilty to storming the U.S. Capitol with fellow Proud Boys members. Matthew Greene is the first Proud Boys member to publicly plead guilty to conspiring with other members to stop Congress from certifying the Electoral College vote. He agreed to cooperate with authorities.
