WASHINGTON, May 5, 2022 – The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) announced today that it will interpret the prohibition on discrimination based on sex found in Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, and in the Food and Nutrition Act of 2008, as amended, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly the Food Stamp Program (7 USC § 2011 et seq.), to include discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity. Under the leadership of the Biden-Harris Administration, USDA and FNS are issuing this interpretation to help ensure its programs are open, accessible and help promote food and nutrition security, regardless of demographics.

This action is in line with President Biden’s Executive Order on Preventing and Combating Discrimination on the Basis of Gender Identity or Sexual Orientation, and is consistent with the Supreme Court’s decision in Bostock v. Clayton County, in which the Court held that the prohibition on sex discrimination under Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 extends to discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

This action is also in line with the USDA’s efforts to promote nutrition security, which is the consistent access to safe, healthy, affordable food essential to optimal health and well-being. Nutrition security places an emphasis on advancing equity to ensure all Americans have access to nutritious foods that promote health and well-being regardless of race, ethnicity, identity or background.

“USDA is committed to administering all its programs with equity and fairness, and serving those in need with the highest dignity. A key step in advancing these principles is rooting out discrimination in any form – including discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity,” said Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack. “At the same time, we must recognize the vulnerability of the LGBTQI+ communities and provide them with an avenue to grieve any discrimination they face. We hope that by standing firm against these inequities we will help bring about much-needed change.”

As a result, state and local agencies, program operators and sponsors that receive funds from FNS must investigate allegations of discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation. Those organizations must also update their non-discrimination policies and signage to include prohibitions against discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation.

Nutrition disparities negatively impact health, productivity and overall well-being for too many in the U.S. FNS recognizes that equitable nutrition assistance means that every American – regardless of identity or background – can access the food they need to thrive.

Historically, the LGBTQI+ community has faced striking economic and social disparities, such as higher rates of poverty, unemployment and nutrition insecurity. For example, according to the U.S. Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, more than 13% of LGBTQ respondents lived in a household that experienced food insecurity, compared to 7.2% of non-LGBTQ adult respondents. I'm one of the few Americans who probably have watched the full original run of The Trailer Park Boys... way back before it was made more mainstream by the Netflix revival.

Yeah. She was in it. Not sure if she was 10 back then, but couldn't have been more than 12 years old. She was good. But I think she was only in the first season and just disappeared and was never mentioned again after she was off the show.

I never looked into it, but I could imagine that maybe they removed her from the show because of some outrage. It definitely wasn't a kid's show from the beginning, and maybe parents in Canada didn't want to see her being friendly with an adult drug dealer. There was no weirdo sexual undertones or anything, but he did have her doing (non-drug related) errands for him like getting him snacks, and if I remember right he was teaching her how to con people. Basically, he was a horrible role model for any kid and he was taking her under his wing. She wasn't a main character, but she had more screen time than most of the other side characters did.

Yanno, funny thing is, I had no problems talking to men at work. Being a supervisor, I was careful not to make friendships bc I really wanted to be fair. Friendly, but not a friend, yanno? But we talked about all kinds of stuff. I had men confide in me about their marriages or their children, gays confide in me about their love life and/or AIDS status, politics, economics and sex... the big no-nos... as well as talking tech, instrument, software or analysis problems, office politics and the idiocy of bureaucracy.

I think tho that men face a different set of problems. They're expected to be stronger, more tech oriented, protectors, and monied.

I wouldn't say that just by being a man that you're going to have a hard and lonely life. There are a lot of different personality types out there. Both of my real close friends are extremely outgoing (and they need to be for their jobs in banking and in sales). I've always been the loner type though, so we make an odd pairing. But that's probably why I get along great with their families too, and always have a good homecooked meal waiting for me whenever I visit. I've got a lot of free time and I'm always willing to lend a hand with it.

But I would assume if you're going to transition that you're pretty messed up in the head about a lot of things before you make that decision. It's one of those "grass is greener" scenarios. I doubt very much that 95% or more of the people of either gender who decide they're going to try (and fail) to change it are very good looking, and that's always going to be hard for somebody when it comes to all aspects of being social. Especially with how asshole school kids probably treated them growing up.

9 times out of 10 or more I'd guess that if you weren't happy being a man (or woman), you aren't going to be happy being a woman (or man).

And yeah... emotionally speaking, men are expected to live by much different rules than women are. Not everybody gets to be Ellen Page and get the support of every Hollywood asshole, Democrat politician and movie critic. Most people who ever do this to themselves are going to be just as alone as they were before they had it done. And if you're going to be a man even less people want to hear you whining about things than did when you were a woman.

But they've been told for over a decade that doing this change is "stunning and brave", so what could show everyone how strong they were better than the thing they saw a few celebrities do and (in fantasy liberal media land) was celebrated like it was the most important thing they've ever done in their lives?

Think Bruce Jenner. He's a freakin' olympian, but the only thing anybody is going to remember him for is being a very ugly woman with a man's voice, and People's "Woman" of the Year.

This nameless person isn't going to get any of that celebration in real life. They were already an outcast in their old life, and most likely most of their family and what little friends they had have slowly found a way to cut them out of their lives. All the media brainwashing in the world isn't going to change the fact that people deep down don't like things that are different, and that "stunning and brave" change she made is just about the most different thing that a person can do to themselves.

The general specialist I was taken to see told my parents that I need to be put on puberty-blocking drugs right away.

They asked my parents a simple question: Would you rather have a dead daughter or a living transgender son?

The choice was enough for my parents to let their guard down, and in retrospect, I can't blame them. This is the moment that we all became victims of so-called gender-affirming care. I was fast-tracked onto puberty blockers and then testosterone. The resulting menopausal-like hot flashes made focusing on school impossible. I still get joint pains and weird pops in my back. But they were far worse when I was on the blockers.

A month later, when I was 13, I had my first testosterone injection. It has caused permanent changes in my body, my voice will forever be deeper, my jawline sharper, my nose longer, my bone structure permanently masculinized, my adam's apple more prominent, my fertility unknown.

I look in the mirror sometimes, and I feel like a monster. I had a double mastectomy at 15. They tested my amputated breasts for cancer. That was cancer-free, of course, I was perfectly healthy. There is nothing wrong with my still-developing body, or my breasts other than that, as an insecure teenage girl, I felt awkward about it.

After my breasts were taken away from me, the tissue was incinerated. Before I was able to legally drive. I had part had a huge part of my future womanhood taken from me. I will never be able to breastfeed. I struggle to look at myself in the mirror at times. I still struggle to this day with sexual dysfunction. And I have massive scars across my chest and the skin grafts that they used, that they took of my nipples, are weeping fluid today, and they're grafted into a more masculine positioning, they said. After surgery, my grades in school plummeted. Everything that I went through did nothing to address the underlying mental health issues that I had, and my doctors with their theories on gender that that all my problems would go away as soon as I was surgically transformed into something that vaguely resembled a boy.

Their theories were wrong. The drugs and surgeries changed my body, but they did not and could not change the basic reality that I am, and forever will be, a female. When my specialists first told my parents they
