Just as an aside, my hair is visibly growing in. It's at the stage where it looks and feels like a plush stuffed toy. Daughter likes to rub my head bc it's so soft. In fact, I do too! If there wa an easy way to keep it this length, I would- it's so easy to care for.

Well... it actually is quite easy to do with the right tool.
When Covid lockdowns and rules came to our town my choice was to either start shaving my head again or growing it out. Now it's just been over 2 years without a haircut for me.
I went about 2 years without a haircut back during the drinking days by shaving my own head. That was a bit tricky to do at first because I only have a single pane medicine cabinet mirror and the previous time I did it there were 3 panes, but I was able to manage with a 2nd mirror I could hold in one hand while I shaved over the sink with the other.
The biggest problem of doing it on my own was that there was no way I could properly trim and blend the "fuzzy" hair down by my neck on my own since everything gets reversed and weird in mirrors, so I had to shave the whole head EXTREMELY short in order to get them. So short that I didn't want to even go out of the house for a few days because besides the fact I have no tattoos, I looked like a neo-nazi, so I'd always plan to do it when nothing was pending and I'd stocked up on stuff. (This was like scratchy short, not the cool plush toy short you're talking about. And yes, I love that feeling, not just on the fingers but how it feels on the head too. When I wrestled back in high school the girl I was dating loved playing with it when the whole team shaved their heads and I could just let her rub it all day long).
If I could manage to shave my own, I'm sure it would be quick and easy if somebody were doing it for you. You'd just have to make sure they took care to properly trim and blend any neck hair fuzzies if you've got them so you can get a longer shave than I was able to do for myself.
I'd recommend a good pair of hair clippers like they have at the salon. I had a very old one of my mom's, probably from like the 70's or something. It had seen better days and would sometimes PULL instead of cut. Ow.
I hear you about how easy it was. I miss those days. I was too tired to shower after the long day yesterday and now I have to do it this morning before my dentist appointment. Showers are about 3 times longer now that my hair is down to my shoulder blades, and I have to let it dry for a long time before going out.
What a pain.
Glad to hear that your hair is coming back. That's never a question though, is it?
P.S. I know it will be painful, but I can't wait for my bi-yearly root scaling and plaining today. Without walking out of the haircut place and having that good feeling after getting a good haircut, my only similar experience these days is walking out with a clean mouth. But it is like 100 times a better feeling, so it kind of makes up for it.

Might have gone just a little bit overboard yesterday. I was up at 6AM, but knew I needed more sleep and didn't get up until 9. Little bit achey right now.
I'm going to head up to the hardware store and pick up 3 2x4's and a few more junction boxes.
These shelves I'm building are awesome. I've already made 9 of them for my basement from scrap wood and they're built like tanks. This is the first time I've had to buy any extra wood to do any of them, and the only other money I've spent on them so far was using wood-screw sets that I picked up back in the day for only $2.00 after rebate. I could probably use other wood I've got instead of buying new 2x4's but it's what I build the legs and the underside supports out of, and I think it's best I continue with that for stability rather than try to save a few bucks and use 1x1's, 1x2's or 1x4's to do that job.
Three 2x4's probably won't be enough for everything, but once I'm done I'll have the entire side of my deep garage lined up with shelving units I made myself for no more than around $30.
If you want GOOD metal shelving, you're paying around $150 for just one unit if you don't get it on sale. Even cheap ones are going to cost you close to $100.
And they're not nearly as deep or sturdy as these are.
My end goal is to be able to dismantle some very large metal shelving that I installed to the studs in the over-head door side corner of the garage on the "half" part that doesn't have the door in front of it. That will give me a huge nook to park my snow blower and trash cans out of the way instead of making a super-narrow path to park my car like I've done forever now.
There's also some unfinished (abandoned) electric receptacles in there that I'll be able to tie back into. The light over the overhead door has never worked, and there is an external electric outlet at the front of the garage that never had any juice to it either.
And since I will end up putting my hands on every single thing in there during this process, I will also use this as an opportunity for a 2nd de-hoard. It's been nearly 3 years since I did it last time, and I guaranty you that at least half of the stuff that I just couldn't part with has not been used in that time.
I'm going to have so much space in my fully electrified garage when I'm done that I won't even know what to do with it.
Oh yeah... that's right. I'll be able to build stuff on my work bench instead of kneeling on the ground and building it.

I wear slouchy beanies and watchcaps when I go out so I don't scare the neighbors, and indoors and at night, too, if the weather is cool.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to figure out something else with the shelving. I know my neighbor had a few 2x4's in his garage that I was using to jack it up when I replaced some plates before he had it mud jacked, so I'm hoping he's still got them. My friend and his old man might have some spares lying around too.
I refuse to pay $7.30 for a standard 8 foot length of 2x4. When we framed out my porch windows last fall it was $3.04, and that was overpriced.

Six Sigma broke. That's what happened.
We stopped building houses after 2008. Well, almost stopped... We built a lot of dumb McMansions but stopped building small homes that anyone can afford. Then investors like Blackrock buy up whatever homes they can to rent them out and drive up home prices to crazy levels, proving that we learned nothing.
Supply chain issues never went away. Then we further broke it by putting tariffs on wood from Canada that never had tariffs on them before.
I'm sure that price gouging that Second always blames 100% of the issue is part of the problem too. Why wouldn't the producers jack up prices when nobody can or will tell the people what's going on?
$7.30 isn't the most expensive I've seen it either. Last summer I saw 2x4's over $10.00, but at least the media was reporting on it all the time. Fortunately, by the time I needed two dozen of them they'd gone down to just over $3.00 again. I thought that was that and it was figured out. The price creeping back up over 100% again wasn't even something I'd heard about this time so the sticker shock was pretty hard.
Had I known, I would have been a bit more judicious with the 2x4's I had on hand. They are the best for the supports I needed and critical for the legs, but as long as I'm not loading up thousands of pounds on them I don't need to build the supports with 2x4 and could have saved a few more of them for legs.

Yeah... Although I'd have to imagine that as a woman you'd be more self conscious about it.
I told my buddy who never had shaved it that you get a lot of hard looks from people as a white dude with a shaved head and it wasn't until we were out somewhere doing something one day that he said, "wow, you're right". Even short, I'm a fairly imposing figure, and although I don't have tats all over the place there's something about putting a shaved head up top that (I assume) puts up red flags for other males in the vicinity that I'm a possible threat. Not just black dudes. White dudes too.
I don't think I'll ever be shaving my head again just because I don't feel like being on high alert myself because I'm drawing such attention to myself. IMO, me going out with a shaved head is even worse than going out with a political T-shirt in our current environment.
But since you're wearing beanies in 100 degrees sunlight, you probably come off as the cool Grandma that listens to alternative music.

Yeah. The yankers aren't fun. It wasn't too much of a problem if I didn't let the hair grow too much before shavings, but since I was shaving it so short I didn't want to shave it too often either.

Hispanics with shaved heads get the same hard looks. Now that I think about it, so do blacks and Asians. Even cops. It seems to be a universal red flag that says "I'm a gangbanger (of some type)". Unless you're wearing fatigues which is an automatic excuse for a shaved head. I assume bc people unconsciously seem to understand that no hair = no handhold in street fighting. Like clipping the ears of fighting dogs.

Missed the rain coming home but couldn't avoid the hail that came around 11am. Got so much of it that it blocked the windows in the mall roof. There was so much it looked like snow.

Yeah. I feel for bald people who don't have a choice. My buddy lost his thick head of black Irish hair by the time he was 25 and has been shaving it ever since. He weighs about 120 soaking wet though, and he's always got a smile on his face so I don't think he gets the same hard looks.
I wasn't blessed with his razor sharp quick wit though, so I had to hit the gym and bulk up.

9 hours, 12 feet off the ground scraping, wire brushing and cleaning out some really old school steel gutters today for my buddy's dad. I don't think I've ever been on a ladder that long in one day. It's a full body workout.
He owes me big for that one.
I'm toast. Going to bed early tonight, and that dinner is going to taste great.

Here in the flatlands of LA, it was 70ish, sunny, clear, and very VERY breezy with gusts up to 30 mph. Quite nice, actually, but I decided that any sweeping/raking/watering/ digging would just be blown around, so I did indoor stuff instead. Mostly dishes and tidying up and paperwork, but with dear daughter's estimable help we managed to get a bunch of seeds potted: three kinds of tomatoes, three kinds of peppers (two hot and one sweet), muskmelon, and okra. All heat and disease resistant. A little late, but better late than never. Got them from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange. I'll get beets and zucchini from the nursery.
Tomorrow yardwork I guess, assuming the wind has died down. (It usually does, we have few windy days in the flatlands.) There's so much to do I'm not sure where to start. Raking up the fallen avocado leaves and pine needles, I guess.
Or maybe digging some weeds out of the lawn and weed- whacking in prep for mowing?

No, what we get around Vancouver are water funnels or water spouts as the weather people call them. They can come on land and drop rain then disappear.
You want tornadoes in BC, you have to go up into the Interior of the province where it is flatter ground. They don't happen off but every so often.
Cool on the seed planting. Yeah, raking not so good in windy weather.

Well, a Spring blizzard is heading for Southern Saskatchewan, Manitoba and into Ontario. News showed people in Winnipeg stocking up incase they get snowed in.

Got a bit of a kink in my neck right now I'm hoping to work out today.
I know he wanted me back to paint them today and I told him we'll play it by ear. There's 97% chance of rain with thunderstorms, so I don't think I'll be doing that today.
I need to get back out in my garage right now anyhow and try to make more progress and work around the fact I probably only have enough 2x4's to make 4 more shelving units right now. He nor his son had any scrap 2x4's. I'm hoping my neighbor still does.
I'm going to be putting grout marker to my aunt's shower in her new apartment and fixing a few odds and ends on Thursday, and the rest of the day into Friday I'll be making some repairs at my grandma's house.
I REALLY need to get that garage moving so I can work on my car and I can order all the mulch/rock/dirt that's on sale until Saturday.

It's going to be an expensive weekend...
I don't see how I can pass the deal up though, even though I'm not even close to being ready to use it. I won't be able to do any real measurements of what I would probably need until Saturday, but right now I'm guessing that I'll need around 5 tons of river rock for all the landscaping I want to do. The price for that right now would be a little under $500 with the sale price. If I wanted to do it later without the sale it would be over $1,300.
Although it is possible that I could get the stuff at the same price as the sale or possibly a little cheaper by having the place that dumped 12 tons of dirt here for me many years back, they'd just dump it in the street and the city would give me a day or two to clear it out, and there's no good place to put it temporarily in loose form.
Not that getting the bags to my place is going to be a fun day either, but at least in bag form they're a lot more manageable and stackable.
We'll see what happens. I'd feel a lot better buying this if my dumb tax return would ever show up.

Had a CT scan in prep for more treatment
But still, managed all the daily chores plus a dry mopping/ sweeping/ vacuuming of the floors, and boy did they need it! The dog has been lightly shedding and there was dog fur all over the place! Such a relief to see clean floors again!

Tons of work done the last two days. I glued and clamped a jacked up piece of baseboard around my aunt's new kitchen and cleaned out all the moldy crap and re-caulked her bathtub to the tiles and whitened all the grout.
Went to my grams after that and managed to install a new light in her bathroom, glued quite a few plastic tiles that had fallen off the walls back up, fixed one horribly busted leaky window before caulking it and making it water tight as well as cleaning up and caulking the other minor leaky window, then I patched up the ceiling that was damaged from the major leak. Even managed to get a game of Up Words in with her before I left.
No dice on either of my car monitors clearing yet though. Hopefully the weather will finally start warming up around here so I can stop fighting with the fact that it's probably too cold for them to even run before my emissions deadline.
We'll see if I'm up to doing the rock thing tomorrow. It's been about 2 1/2 weeks without a real day of rest and it's really catching up with me right now.

SIX, I had to look back and see what you wanted to do with rocks. How big are you talking about? River rocks? Boulders? Trying to picture.
A word about rocks - they're hard to weed between/around. Also, if you have voles, moles, ground squirrels etc accessing the tunnels can be rough. And any in-ground repair you might need to do would require moving them out if the way.
But they DO look nice!

The elevator I discovered today also says, "Going down". It probably did that the other day too but I might not have heard it.
And at the end of Season 5 that includes Jimmy investing in Duncan's bistro too. Along with Duncan's dumb jokes. Like at the end of Season 2, I think it was as they were talking about Cassie, saying, "I want a divorce." I just moved over 8,800 pounds of earth a few miles today all by myself. And I didn't even start until after 1 PM. I still got it.

I have a plan for all of that. I'm literally ages away from actually being able to use any of the rocks yet, but I've got a huge sand pit to put them on for the time being while I shore up everything else. I simply couldn't pass up the deal today. Less than $2 per 48lb bag instead of $5 per bag is a no brainer.

I moved over 3992 kilograms of rocks yesterday that was 2.69 cubic meters.
My days in retail finally paid off with the chest-high stack I have out in the sand pit that is locked together in a brick pattern. An earthquake could hit us and I don't think it would fall into my house.

Did the math and it was actually 9,120 pounds. I can't remember where I got 8,800 from.
Wouldn't have been as bad if I could have just unloaded it from the car, but there was no way I was going to try to get my car up on the driveway that people always bottom out on with all that weight in it, so I had to use my wagon to get it up my air-strip of a driveway and then about 50 feet through the sand pit before I could unload them, 200 lbs at a time.
I did go out to the garage and managed to get my tools back in my car and I dismantled 5 or 6 of the drawers from the old dressers and put the contents up on the new shelves I built before I just wasn't feeling it anymore and took a nap. Still feeling the desire to at least go out and finish getting rid of those dressers before I call it a day.
My friend's dad called to wish a happy Easter and see if I'd come back out tomorrow to paint those gutters I spent 9 hours scraping last week. I told him I'd have to see how I'm feeling. I think I want to put it off until at least Tuesday anyway since it's only going to be 44 degrees high tomorrow and Tuesday it will get to 49.
I'm hoping nothing else besides that comes up this week because I really need to get my garage put back together so I can start working on my car that still can't pass the emissions test.

Looks like I haven't visited this thread since 13 March.
And this past Tuesday my mom was in the hospital for the final time. A blood clot blocking both lungs, so her O2 absorption is 18%. After stabilizing on high oxygen, Doc and my evil brother expected her to last a few hours without the high O2. Evil brother turned off the oxygen Tuesday night, without my other brother or his son able to visit.
She surprised the Doc and my brother, but not me.
Now they're planning on hospice for comfort Care. Her hand was warmer than a long time, and pulse very strong, which surprised me.

Finished dismantling all of the drawers and putting everything inside of them on the new shelves. It won't be the final resting place for the stuff up there, but I've now managed to put all of the stuff that was in the dressers as well as a mountain of stuff that had been piled up on my 2nd work bench on just the first two rows of shelves and I haven't even built the third that will go on top of them yet.
I also pulled apart a cabinet that I was thinking about hanging too. I decided that the wood on the top, bottom and sides would serve me better as more shelving surfaces.
Tons of space in my garage that wasn't there two weeks ago and I've hardly even thrown anything out yet except for garbage wood and some small cut offs from the project so far.
Nice to have a day where I could still get so much done without straining myself.

I'm surprised they didn't try a clot-busting drug. They use it for heart attacks and strokes, why not for her?
In any case, when you visit, talk to her. Read to her. Hold her hand. Bring her perfume that you know she likes, if any. She won't feel so alone, and even when sight fails sound, touch, and smell remain. If there really is no hope, you want her to be as peaceful as possible, so comfort her in whatever way you can. The worst things to feel after someone dies are guilt and regret. I've felt both nd it's something you never escape.

I didn't see my Grandma in time. I was lost in my drinking back then, and I've never dealt with death well even when I've had my shit together. The morning my brother was going to come and drag me out of my house, by my hair if he needed to, to go see her is when she passed.

I think I'm in even worse shape today. LOL
Nothing I can't work out with a little movement, but I wont' be getting up on a ladder and painting any gutters in the cold today. SNOW COVERING ON THE ROOFS AGAIN ON APRIL 18TH!!!! And it's supposed to rain at some point anyhow.
I'm going to put myself together and get out there and build some more shelving.
For lack of 2x4 lumber, and a desire to get shelving done from end to end done first, I will be just building them 2 high for now, and then I'll re-evaluate my wood situation and begin building the 3rd row. I'm making these quite a bit taller than the ones in my basement were, with legs that are 21" instead of 16". They can all house a large 6 gallon bucket under the front plate without struggle. Also, because of the supports on the sides that tie the two legs together, I can fabricate smaller boards that can sit on these supports and make additional shelves for smaller things like boxes and jars of nails and hardware where I need to.
I'd really like to get enough built today so that I can start taking down those huge rusty metal shelving units I put together my first year here. My step dad gave me a bunch of stuff and I remember they didn't hold themselves up and had to be screwed into the framing of the garage. I don't want anything attached to walls anymore. I want the ability to insulate and put drywall up at some point down the road whenever I get the house done. That shelving is a huge waste of space in the front corner of the 1/2 side and it will be a great place to put my snowblower and power washer as well as a place to stand up some rather large lumber that I have and I no longer want to waste an entire wall by laying them down on the floor. I might possibly be able to put my two large garbage cans over there too. I certainly will be able to if I decide to get rid of my 300 lb table saw. It was a dumb thing I bought from some dude who's dad had passed away. It's been used maybe 3 times in 10 years, and now that I have a small light-weight one it's just taking up a ton of space in there. It belongs in a legit woodworking shop. Not my garage.
I think I will build a very tall shelf along the side wall next to my large work bench in that corner. Similar to the ones that I'm building now, but with legs on the bottom tall enough to easily park the blower and washer up to the wall and under it. I imagine I could build a smaller one on top of that too, but I wouldn't know until I get into it. I wont' have the lumber for that now, so it will have to wait until 2x4's come back down to a reasonable price.
I want my auto stuff on the shelving closest to the garage door (which doesn't exist yet), with my ramps and oil pan being on the floor underneath them.
I'd rather not be doing all of this in the cold, but I've got to get this all put together so I can start working on that car.

You have a portable table saw??? I didn't know they made such things! Hubby has a woodworking table saw and he's seriously thinking of getting rid of it. So if you have a good substitute let me know what I can look for online just to get an idea of what's available.

Been busy-busy-busy taking care of paperwork and other stuff, but managed to get out and do some yardwork in the interim... raked and swept the backyard sidewalks (avocado leaves and pine needles, area so seriously neglected I collected four 33-gal bins, which I'm going to turn into mulch so I can do more) and cut down a bunch of big weeds in the front yard (2.5 * 65-70 gal greewaste bins altho still a lot more to go).
I have a medical issue to resolve that popped up unexpectedly not related to chemo, and hubby needs medical attention as well, but the weather still looks good for outdoor work the next 10 days, so my next project is to mulch the leaves/pine needles, rake up the pathway under the avocado trees, water the parts of the yard that need water, and start pulling up weeds in back which allow me to rake up more leaves. Just regular maintenance, nothing special, but it hasn't been done in 6 months so it really needs it.

Made ham for Easter. I NEVER buy a big ham bc we're a small family, but at 0.99/lb for a bone-in ham I asked dear daughter to get me the smallest one she could find. Family enjoyed it along with asparagus (on sale!), sweet potato, and cauliflower and leftover fruitcake for dessert. That was the big blowout Easter dinner... just one small step above the usual, but still nice. I froze the rest of the ham plus the bone, which will make an awesome ham and veggie soup next week.

She won't feel so alone, and even when sight fails sound, touch, and smell remain. If there really is no hope, you want her to be as peaceful as possible, so comfort her in whatever way you can. The worst things to feel after someone dies are guilt and regret. I've felt both nd it's something you never escape.

You have a portable table saw??? I didn't know they made such things! Hubby has a woodworking table saw and he's seriously thinking of getting rid of it. So if you have a good substitute let me know what I can look for online just to get an idea of what's available.

Finished 4 more shelving units today and ran out of 2x4s for real this time. The price has come down just slightly in the stores, but still no way in hell I'm paying for them now. I'll have to make due with what I've got until the end of summer when they're supposedly coming back down in price.
I didn't get around to clearing off the metal shelves yet. These shelves took quite a bit longer because there were a lot more cuts to make them work than the ones I did before.

But all I had to do was pay state taxes quarterly, and pay the Federal Household Help taxes with annual income taxes. Of course, being a doctor, if she has (had?) her own practice instead of being on staff with an institution she would have to handle the business end of her taxes too.

I figured my Skilsaw was on the cheap end of the spectrum. It's pretty lousy compared to my
Craftsman beast, but the portability of it makes it 10 times as useful for me. The one advertised
here looks much newer, and the legs are quite a bit different than mine. They look to be
adjustable, while mine were just static metal legs. They also appear to have rubber feet,
which I would imagine would do a much better job keeping the unit put as long as the floor
it was on was clean and dry.
The Dewalt in the first link is similar to what the guy I know has. It's probably 3 times
as heavy as my table saw is, and it doesn't even have legs. It's got really nice handles
on the base for moving it though, and it has a decent center of gravity so I don't have any
problems lugging it or worrying about hurting my back. I'm sure they would be happy to sell
you some expensive legs, although I'm sure somebody as handy as your husband would be able
to make some sort of table for it. Maybe even with some locking castor wheels so he could
freely move it around and then lock it into place.
Personally, I would go with the Dewalt if I wanted one that was going to work for years and
remain accurate. I'm not doing any fine woodworking with my Skilsaw, so I'm not worried
that the angle isn't exactly 0 degrees (Something I know for a fact when I ripped those 4x4's
I had into 2x4's.)

I'm going to take those metal shelves down today and get that stuff up on the 4 new shelving units I made yesterday. I still don't have enough shelves for eveyrthing though, so my main work bench will remain full of crap for the time being, and I won't be able to start organizing what I put on the existing shelves yet.
I've built 12 so far, but I want to build 6 more to go on top of the 2-high stacks I've already made, and then I want to build another 3 on end, so I still have 9 more to go when I can get the 2x4's.
If I stick with it today, I'd like to install some of the electric on the back wall. It's where I'm going to put my 2nd smaller work bench, and right now I have it pulled out about 3-4 feet from the wall so I can get back there. There's so little on that wall now though that I'm still able to pull my car deeper into the garage then I have in a decade even though that table is so far out from the wall.

Accountant was getting to expensive and she's retired now from doctoring anyways. She also feels like she can handle all her cooking and baking herself now. So, it is just play it by ear. From the website for Canada it does seem to involve a bit more. She pulled up the Government website while I was there and started looking at it. There is provincial stuff and federal stuff on it.

i got the metal shelving all down and out on the curb for the light haulers. I decided to keep the posts and the top three metal shelves on the side wall where my large work bench is since it might be a while until I can build new ones and both the snow blower and power washer can still fit underneath them and I can put both of my huge trash cans in front of them and nothing sticks out in front of the overhead door anymore. I was also able to tightly wind up and secure the 37 or so extra feet of 4" corrugated pipe I used to extend my downspouts last year and get it on that top shelf and finally up off of the floor and out of my way too.
I didn't get around to doing any of the electric on the back wall, but it wasn't for lack of work. I did end up doing a ton of cleanup and re-org, and I loaded up the two cans with about as much weight as I'm comfortable with putting in them. Mostly wood that there's no sense in hanging on to... small pieces and such.
THERE'S SO MUCH ROOM IN MY GARAGE NOW!!!
No way around it though... I'm still going to need a lot more 2x4's so I can build more shelves. I was going to build 12 more, but I think I just need to build the 3rd units on top of the 12 that I already did and that should be plenty... and I think it will be nice to have the first 5 to 6 feet of space in front of the overhead door cleared up. Some of the shelves, particularly my auto stuff is super organized and clean looking, but as I head further toward the back of the garage there is just tons of stuff stacked on top of each other haphazardly. I really want those top shelves done so I can put things I'd rarely use like spare shingles and extra tarps up top as well as things I plan on using in the house like really nice light fixtures and a couple of faucets.
I also had a scare with my power steering. Since I just hauled over 9,000 lbs of rocks in the car, I thought maybe I'd screwed it up. Nope...
I checked the power steering levels and it was bone freakin' dry. I'm assuming that when you get your oil changed and they top off your fluids, the power steering is something they fill up??? I've only paid for one single oil change in the 14 years that I've owned the car, and I've never owned a car as long as this one. Truth be told, turning the car was always a minor struggle for as long as I can remember. Just something you get used to.
So I picked up some fluid along with a few other things I'm going to try to get the car to pass emissions, topped her off and also made sure my oil was topped off too.
Then I drove the car...
Holy crap. Does it handle nice now! It feels like a brand new car. I don't remember ever turning the car so easily. I bet the power steering fluid was already lower than it should have been back when I first bought the darn thing!

Too bad we live so far away, Brenda. Unless you've got some more involved things that I'm not privy to, your taxes probably aren't super complex. I'd say that in the 20 or so years I've done my own that there were probably only 3 years that were complex, especially when I bought the house and moved a lot of money around to do it.
I used to really enjoy doing taxes, but I think as the years go by I've gotten bored of doing them. But I enjoyed helping my Aunt get hers done this year. It was the first time I'd done somebody else's since my brother got married. I did his for years before that, but I told him that they'd need to get an accountant because I didn't want to know how much his wife made once they started filing jointly.

I discovered I had two circuits ran out to the garage, which saying was a pleasant surprise is an understatement. I will be incorporating that into my new setup as I start tying things together.
I did it with my step-dad 11 or 12 years ago, probably the first week I moved in here. Lots of drinking back in those days and tons more years after must have erased that from my brain.

Went over to my grandma's and had dinner there and ended up staying overnight again. I brought my limb cutter and cut away a few trashcans worth of limbs from a tree that was right up against the house, then I went and got the same ant bait that I used a few years back to take care of her ant problem that is starting to get out of control. Just overnight it was amazing how many we got. I had no idea her problem had gotten that bad. Should be taken care of in a day or two now. Helped my aunt get her new A/C into her apartment and will be going back one day soon to install it for her.
When I got back home I got about another $140 worth of free after rebate stuff that I paid for with a rebate so there wasn't any sales tax. More good stuff to give away as gifts.

We had another couple of medical urgencies pop up... one for me and one for hubby... Which we are still dealing with. When you get to our age it's to be expected.
But aside from that, even with radiation theraoy I'm mostly powering thru the days without naps, and the weather has been just effing awesome(!) ... wish I could share!... so have been putting and hour or so of yardwork in about every other day. After raking and sweeping the back sidewalks (= 4 * 33 gal bins) I got out my weed whacker and rake, and rediscovered the sidewalk edges and the garden edges (lined BTW with 1' X 2,3, or 4' concrete blocks cut from a former patio, which looks a lot like cut limestone) which had been buried under knee high grass and weeds, and the backyard already looks 5X better. I'm so happy!

Had to walk up 10 flights of stairs again as the new elevator which has only been in operation for a week decided stop today. Then I walked down the ten flights to go out for my walk. Came back and it was working again the repair guy had just finished it. Thank goodness.
Another lady who lives in the building told me it went out last week. I must have just missed that episode.

Yeah. It's pretty good. I won't really be able to do much more with it until I get more 2x4's, but at least the auto-shop stuff is organized and easily accessible, which is what I really need while working on the car right now.
I had a few minor setbacks with it today, but I was able to get them taken care of. I used the upper engine cleaner in the throttle body and there was significant improvement in the performance of the car. The car hasn't accelerated this good in quite a while. One of the things the instructions says to do after putting the air intake hose back on is to drive the car for about 10 minutes and accelerate hard whenever safe to do so to burn off any excess crap. There's certainly a lot more pick up than there was yesterday. I wouldn't feel nervous about making a left turn into traffic anymore like I have been for quite a while.
Still not good enough to get a CAT monitor reading though.
I did some more research and I think I may have been going about this all in the wrong way... I mean, all of the repairs I've made over the years and using products to clean out a car as old as mine are all good things, so it wasn't throwing away money, but I'm going to clean my MAP (Manifold Absolute Pressure) sensor (probably tomorrow).
It's possible that most of the problems I've had with this car for years is because that thing is dirty or faulty. My biggest issue the car still has performance wise is roughness when it is switching gears, which is one of the listed symptoms of this thing not working right. What's really making me thing that it could be the problem though is another listed symptom is stalling when at low RPMs, specifically while idling. That was a problem for a few years back in the day before I adjusted my car's idle speed to a bit higher than spec. (which, incidentally, I've now read can prevent certain monitors from doing their routine under certain circumstances itself).
My O2 sensors both show OK, which is great, because getting to them to clean or replace is a LOT harder than getting to the MAP sensor. My car doesn't even have a MAP sensor monitor, but on newer cars that do have MAP/MAF sensor, it usually won't even trigger a code unless the thing dies altogether anyhow.
Wouldn't it be something if all I needed to do was spray some cleaner on this thing and I can pass the test and have a car that doesn't accelerate funny anymore?

Now that you've been forced to do it for a while, maybe you should just keep using the stairs? Especially at 10 flights, that's a nice little work out that you can force on yourself if it's something you feel is manageable.

Most of my errands when I am out I do on foot. To get to the pharmacy I use for my meds I take the bus there and back. When I am working I walk there and back.
I only walk the 10 flights of stairs in my building when I have to as it is quite a strain on me when I have to carry things, like my laundry yesterday. And the last time it was groceries back in.
I am taking it easy today and hitting the shower in a bit to get some hot water to ease my slightly sore muscles.

Yeah. 10 flights of stairs isn't fun if you're carrying a bunch of things. I didn't consider that.
Do you have, or have you ever considered buying one of those grocery bag carriers? I know how much over-carrying things just from my car to the entry to my house (through 3 doors) can jamb up my fingers because I don't use one of those. Though I'm sure you're not overloading yourself on the walks, they are supposed to do a good job of dispersing the weight and making it easier on the digits.

I didn't clean the sensor today. I thought about it, then I decided that since I've already done a few other things I'm going to just see how that goes. I've started this early enough that I don't have to rush everything all at once.
I put in half the bottle of fuel injector cleaner since I was around 3/8ths of a tank. Then I adjusted the throttle pully to specifications. I didn't realize that I'd had it so high for so long. It would idle at 1,000 RPMs and it should idle at only 750+/-50. Got it right at 750 now, which would have surely stalled out at any stop light years back before I did any fixes and it ran like a dream. I don't even get the "shaky steering wheel syndrome" while idling that used to be pretty bad (and I've read online that my model car around the mid-90's is actually notorious for).
I decided to do a drive cycle tonight with the nice weather after the rain, but I botched it. I had the parking break on while revving it up in the garage, and I did 2/3rds of the leg of the trip with the darn thing on and not even noticing it (I'm pretty confident that my parking break doesn't actually do anything after that).
But having the BRAKE indicator on probably screwed up the testing.
So once I got home and it wasn't cleared I decided to just do another factory reset since my last one was when I pulled the battery for about 15 minutes while changing the spark plugs, and before I'd taken any other steps to fix it. Actually, tomorrow morning before I go out I'm just going to try something that people say online and disconnect my battery for at least 1 hour before I head out and see what happens.
The car is driving awesome now. I really hope I can pass the damn test.

I do as I used to use it for taking my laundry to the laundrymat but one of the wheels is broken on it. So, I just use it now for recycling.
Grocery store is across the street from my building. I can see it but I'm still careful with carrying groceries home.
The shower helped as did doing nothing for the day.
