Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is already touting the $550 billion infrastructure law in his home state of Kentucky, lauding the federal money it's poised to provide for repairing aging bridges and accelerating economic development in rural areas.
"It's a godsend for Kentucky," McConnell said on Monday, per CBS News affiliate WKYT. "We have a lot of infrastructure needs."

Trump had the advantage of starting at 0 COVID-19 deaths per day, which rose to ~2600 deaths/day by the end of his term.

Gas prices have been anywhere from $1.00 to $1.50 more by me than they were last year for the previous few months.

Just how much is Trump’s judiciary sabotaging the Biden presidency?
More than a year after Trump’s defeat, Biden is forced to share power with increasingly partisan judges.
No one has ever elected Matthew Kacsmaryk to anything.
Kacsmaryk, whom former President Donald Trump appointed to the federal bench in 2019, was previously a lawyer for a Christian right law firm. He once claimed being transgender is a “mental disorder” and that gay people are “disordered.” He’s also one of the most powerful immigration officials in the country, having successfully wrested control of much of America’s border policy away from the man Americans elected president in 2020.
With the Supreme Court’s blessing, Kacsmaryk ordered President Joe Biden’s administration to reinstate Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy, which requires many asylum seekers who arrive at the United States’ southern border to stay in Mexico while they await a hearing.
Even if you ignore the moral implications of reinstating such a policy, there are good reasons to doubt that the policy is a good use of America’s limited border security resources. And Kacsmaryk’s decision is also unlawful for numerous reasons.
One of the most important reasons is that it upends the balance of power between the president and unelected judges. Reinstating the Remain in Mexico program requires the Mexican government’s cooperation — which means that Kacsmaryk ordered the United States to change its diplomatic stance toward Mexico. And that’s despite decades of warnings from the Supreme Court that judges should be “particularly wary of impinging on the discretion of the Legislative and Executive Branches in managing foreign affairs.”
Kacsmaryk’s decision, and the Supreme Court’s decision to stand with Kacsmaryk against President Joe Biden, is one of the most dramatic examples of the Republican-controlled federal judiciary's many conflicts with America’s Democratic president. But it’s hardly an isolated incident.

Biden's approval rating jumps to 47 percent after State of the Union address
The latest NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist National Poll found that 47 percent of Americans surveyed approve of the job he is doing as president, which is a jump from the 39 percent approval rating he had in the same poll last month.
"This is an unusual bounce," Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist Institute for Public Opinion, said in a statement. "It gets him back to where he was pre-Afghanistan."
The last time Biden had a higher approval rating was in August 2021, when it saw at 49 percent. While presidents can sometimes get a bounce after a State of the Union, one of more four points in an NPR poll has happened only six times since 1978.
The poll also found Biden's approval rating is on the upswing on issues like Ukraine and COVID-19. Fifty-five percent of Americans approve of how he is handling the coronavirus pandemic, up from 47 percent in February.
Fifty-two percent approve of how he is handling the situation with Russia and Ukraine, up from 34 percent in February when tensions were simmering but Russia had not yet launched its invasion.
An overwhelming majority of Americans surveyed - 83 percent - also supported the United States' and other allies' economic sanctions against Russia.
"Biden's leadership on Ukraine has resonated over the last week with Americans. He has forged a consensus in the U.S. on his policy toward Ukraine. Americans are even willing to sacrifice higher energy prices in support of the Ukrainian people," Miringoff said.
The newest polling is likely welcome news for the president after months of low approval ratings and midterm elections on the horizon.
The president has had to juggle a number of issues since he took office last year, including the administration's chaotic evacuation from Afghanistan, the lingering COVID-19 pandemic, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, inflation and supply chain issues and infighting among members of his party that has stymied several Democratic priorities.
The NPR/PBS NewsHour/Marist National Poll was conducted between March 1 and March 2 with 1,322 adults. The margin of error is plus or minus 3.8 percentage points. Among the 1,322 adults surveyed, there were 1,237 registered voters, with a margin of error of plus or minus four percentage points.
