It was a good day.

just as an aside... you might want to have a light plugged into that second circuit. That way, if the light circuit breaker pops, you'll still have light in the garage to be able to find your way around. Most rooms, if wired properly, are serviced by at least two different circuit breakers so they will never be entirely without electricity if a circuit breaker blows.

You had a wiring overload that actually caused smoke and set off a smoke detector??? That's some serious shit bc that could start a fire and burn the building down!

The circuit breaker should have shut the current off to prevent that! Was it the wires in the wall that overheated, or an electric/electronic device that overheated?

AFA your modem and monitor... modems that seriously overheated should be replaced. Many monitors have ventilation slots and internal fans. Vacuum the slots out if they're clogged.

Well, aside from the garage door opener, there won't be much load on that 20AMP circuit with all of the lights because new LED tech is awesome and I can keep the entire garage lit up for less than half the wattage my dusty old 2-lamp halogen work lights used to put out. They're 60 watt 4-panel bulbs that put out 5,000 lumens each. 30,000 LUMENS BABY! So to use all 6 at one time would be 40 watts less than one of those halogen bulbs used to cost to run. (I'm really thinking about getting rid of that thing now that I have cordless LED alternatives that are ALMOST as good as it was)

Even if I had all 6 of those lights on (360 watts), my garage door opener running (600 peak watts), and the four not-very bright halogen bulbs over my work bench that I'm going to replace soon (360 watts), that would still be only 1320 watts which is safely 400+ watts under what a 15 AMP circuit can handle, and this circuit is 20 amps.

The bigger concern would be the fact that I have all of my outlets prone to a heavy load all on a the other circuit, but I'd have to be running about 3 of them in tandem to overload the circuit so I'm not worried about that. I've only got two hands.

In fact, just because it's easier, I will probably add the external outlet at the front of the garage to the first light breaker, which would make it the only thing that would take on a bigger load other than the garage door opener. It's most likely only going to be used for power washing the driveway. But since the average power usage of a power washer is 1,500 watts, I'm going to want to make sure I don't have all the lights on in my garage and I'm opening the garage door while I'm using it.

I'm not sure that is just a guess. It could have been something simple as the battery dying in the smoke detector and instead of replacing it they just turned the device off.

You might want to ask the bldg manager just to make sure that it's nothing important.

I can't imagine that they would be allowed, by law, to shut off a smoke detector in an apartment so I imagine it was something else. Just, yanno, as a point of nosiness.

I'v helped hubby take apart all kinds of PCs but I've never seen him take a monitor apart. My guess is it's not recommended. You can vacuum out the vents, but the canned air IMHO only works if you can get at a processor heat sink, which is a finned affair with a fan on top of it. Dust usually collects between the fins and can be blasted out with compressed air. Here is a typical PC heat sink and fan

But AFAIK those components, while reasonably accessible in a desktop PC, are buried inside monitors and laptops and can't be easily accessed. Maybe SIX has better info.

I've never taken a monitor apart unless it was already dead, and just out of curiosity.

I've taken laptops and All-In-Ones apart though. I've replaced two broken fans in AIOs and switched out hard drives in two AIOs and a few laptops. If you want to open one up for any reason, I'd get the model number and do a search on YouTube. I've always been able to find a video on how to open any model I've tried opening before. It's useful because even though a lot of the screws are easy to spot, you're always going to have one or two that are cleverly hidden out of sight that will ruin your day.

It's not really something I would recommend anybody do though. There is a reason that the companies make these things so hard to crack open, and why any warranties that are on them are voided if you do it. I'd consider it a last resort thing where you're ready to throw it out, because there is probably a good chance that you will end up throwing it out after opening it.

Brenda isn't a smoker though, and she seems to be a lot more meticulous about dusting than I usually am.

I'm just a little confused at her situation because I've had computers loaded with nicotine and dust over the years that didn't have overheating problems unless it reached the mid 80's, at which point I would have to open the case and point a small fan directly in there to keep it going.

My current computer doesn't even have the correct CPU fan on it. The old fan was beyond repair and I ended up snatching one from an old mother board before my house dehoard, putting it on with thermal paste and only screwing it down in one corner because it was too large for the newer CPU mounting brackets. It's still been working like 2 or 3 years after that, but it probably shouldn't be.

I've had monitors fail, but it was never a slow burn. It was an immediate thing where it just worked one day and the next day it wouldn't even turn on. I've never had a modem fail on me.

On top of all of these other conditions, it was in rooms that could get so hot that most human beings wouldn't find the conditions acceptable.

Looks like my gardening will be on "pause" for the next seven days. Since summer is definitely here I changed my schedule to accomodate the higher temps, figuring if I got out early enuf ... say, 9:30 AM ... I could get in an hour of gardening without stressing my kidneys too much. Originally the temps for the upcoming week were predicted to be mostly in the low-to-mid 80s, which I could have dealt with, but now they're predicted to be in the mid-80s to 90, which no reasonable schedule change can accommodate. I'll try to sneak out and plant here and there, but not about to do major spade-work. It's a good thing I cleared enough additional space in between this week's DR appts for a row of beets and chives. The melons and okra are going to have to wait in their pots a bit longer. DEFINITELY going to have to keep everything well-watered so my plants don't croak!

There's plenty of indoor work to do, mostly cleaning, filing, and tidying up.

On a bright note, thanks to hubby's push, dear daughter got her new (5G) phone. We managed to xfer off all of her texts (she only had, like, 5000+ of them! I personally delete all of mine as soon as I can!), contacts, and pictures. It turns out that the detailed pix properties like camera type, exposure, and (importantly) time and date stamp were NOT part of the picture file but were kept by the phone in a separate file, so the date didn't xfer over with the pix. But dear daughter manually prepended the date to each file name. There were about 260 pix, and it took her a long time, but she stuck with it. I'm proud of her!

Well, time to get cracking! I've still got a lot of catching up to do.

Hot one here today in the mid 90's. 100 degrees again tomorrow. Hopefully next week breaks that streak and this doesn't become a Tuesday thing for us this year.

Built up some social credit today, and will be doing so for a while. Hopefully everyone stays alive long enough to pay it back one day.

In other news from BC, a 700 pound, 10 foot long sturgeon was caught on the Upper Fraser river near Lillooet. First time sturgeon fisherman got it. It was tagged then let go. The sturgeon is an endangered species in Canada. This one was thought to be around 100 years old.

I finally got to meet the lady down the street. The yard and house are very tidy on the outside, but for the longest time I thought it was a vacant repo just being looked after by a bank bc I never saw anyone there and there was no car in the driveway. I FINALLY saw a lady doing some weeding a few months ago, but she was a little too far away to introduce myself, but yesterday she was at the curb so I stopped to chat, introduced myself and exchanged numbers. It turns out she was on chemo 8 years ago for lymphoma, but she seems quite healthy now.

Got a bunch of stuff done indoors, mopped the kitchen floor and did a big kitchen cleanup, did some online comparison shopping for supplements with dear daughter as she was quite anxious to get that done and I DID promise, and today I'll do a lot more indoor stuff that got put off bc of yardwork and dr appts. My gosh, staying healthy is a full-time job! I thought once the cheno and radiation were done there wouldn't be such a parade of Dr appts, but no.

I'll do a few minutes outdoors, walk the dog, and then xfer my attention to the piles of work indoors. A friend dropped off some household items yesterday that she wasn't using and I have to put those away for sure and just, in general, tidy up, which will make cleaning a lot easier. Also refill meds, soak my feet while I sort the mail.

FINALLY. I'm supposed to do soak my feet AND sort the mail every week and haven't managed for three. Every day I say to myself I'm going to take the day in an orderly fashion and every day I get caught up in a whirlwind of what I need to do with/for the family.
Well, time to get cracking, as the Scots say.

Only if it can make up its mind and as long as another heat dome doesn't land on top of BC again. That's what happened last June.

For today it was cloudy and cool when I went out but dry then on my way back it started spitting on me and now the sun is out. However the weather icon has rain drops on it, so just have to see.

Yup, that sounds just like here.

Weather people last night said today is a transition day which means wet to dry and that dry is suppose to last until next Tuesday. That bad on that is a number of areas in BC are now under flood watch. This warm will bring snow melt that is already delayed hence the flood watches for certain rivers.

Speaking of CRAZY weather...

It's now 11AM. Since about 2AM we've had four nearly-rainless VIOLENT lightning storms roll thru. I don't know what going on in the atmo, but the bolts are heavy and long and the thunder - which booms on and on - sometimes shakes the house. As the storms pass overhead, they rain for maybe a minute... not enough to even break tree canopies... but, Oh my word! The LIGHTNING! The THUNDER! Unheard-of, for LA!!

And of course the dog trots around the house panting and barking bc she's not used to thunder, has no idea what it is. But the weather at ground level is still, warm, and humid. Very mild. So all of the drama is going on in the (low) clouds above our head. Since we're not getting any gusting (air that has risen, cooled, and dropped back to earth with a THUD!) or much rain, my guess is that we're getting very little vertical air movement but maybe a tremendous wind shear* overhead. (*Two layers of air moving rapidly past each other in different directions.)

Weird, is what it is.

Not taking the dog out for any long walks while the storms are overhead, I don't want to get struck by lightning!

Come to think of it .. "dry lightning" causes a lot of wildfires across the west and into BC. So I guess it's not a weird as I thought, it just doesn't happen here very often.

That is some crazy weather you got happening around you, SIG.

Certain areas of BC can get lots of dry lighting and that also contributes to wild fires that happen in province. In fact the weather map last night on the news was covered in lighting symbols for the Interior as well as rain.

Glad you are staying indoors and safe with the pooch.

Weather by me is nice, dry and sunny. Sitting at around 66F. Not overly warm but just nice.

Both elevators were out this morning which means I had to walk down the stairs to get out. At least one is working now as I came back up in it.

Man, I will be so glad when the repair guys are finished. That should in theory be tomorrow. I just hope I don't have to walk down the stairs again to get out to go to mah jong.

Seems it like they've been working on them for a long time! Sounds like they're being upgraded, not just repaired.

Seems it like they've been working on them for a long time! Sounds like they're being upgraded, not just repaired.

They have been. Think they started in April. They are being upgraded. They replaced one car and the other one is just electrical work from what I can gather.

Me too. I'm sure the last time the elevators had this much work on them would have been long before I moved in. So will I.

Let's see... got some clearing out done yesterday, and chipping away at the yardwork an hour or so at a time in the AM. Did another 45 mins this AM (late start, coulifsll asleep until 5 AM!) and back to indoor tidying up/ throwing out. Everywhere I look, lots to do... which means a lot of progress possible.

No, it doesn't. I'm too far away from the Fraser river being at the top of a hill apartment wise and shopping wise. Vancouver would be cooler as it sits right on the ocean.

Though there is a breeze out today. Weather people say the bulk of the heat will be over Sunday and Monday. I keep all the curtains closed during the heat of the day and make sure to have plenty of water and such. Also have a fan that I can turn on if I feel the need.

Well, back from mah jong and all I got was the booby prize. 4 people playing at my table that includes me and I had one heck of a time trying to reach 1,000 points. I did but it took me well over an hour I am sure. I finished with just over 1,200 points. Oh well.

Managed to defrost the breezeway freezer (my "meat locker") today. What a chore! But it was bugging me every time I looked inside! At least I won't have to do that again for six months.

No and I had the highest score at my table. The top scores were at another table and I think there were only 3 playing there. Think there was 11 of us playing today. So 2 tables of 4 and 1 table with 3 playing.

Found out I'm going to be going to a comedy show with my old man and my youngest brother. I haven't done anything with him outside of hanging around the house since our old man took us to Medieval Times when he was like 5 years old. That's going to be cool.

I'm going to take that opportunity to stay over a few nights at my Grandma's and get more work done over there. My aunt has been getting a monster amount of the crap I've cleared out to the curb for trash pickup every week despite the insane heat (100 degrees or above on Tuesday night the last two weeks). I told her to take a break from it this week and only found out last night that she didn't listen to me.

So all of the stuff should be out of the garage before I fill it again.

Today I go back out to the garage to get more electrical work done. It's going to be hot and miserable, but oh well. If I wait for a cool day to do it I might not be wrapping that up until September. At least it won't be 100 degrees.

Now that all of the trash I've been throwing out is gone except for one full can and the lawn stopped growing from lack of rain, I've got two large cans to get the rest of it out. I still have the best of the shelf/boards in there that I'm not going to throw out yet because I might want to use those to fabricate the sides and back of the two lower shelves in the pantry that will have drawer slides on them. One more reason to finally wrap that up so I can get that wood out. But I've got some large/long 1/4" plywood that I need to chop and throw out. It was up by the headers in the porch below the cedar and is pretty lousy wood. I wasn't going to use it for anything else other than putting it back up there, but I've decided that it's not going back up there and I'll either be putting paneling or drywall over everything in the end.

I know how you feel about not waiting for cooler weather! Altho I have to say, in your case cooler weather is a real possibility since you're apparently under an unusual "heat dome", so I presume it will move on at some point.

Yeah, this last week or so the guys seemed to be checking in more with inspectors and such from what I could hear.

But they are running today and it looks like they are finished. No workmen around and no equipment for today. Will know better on Monday as tomorrow is Saturday.

Boy I hope so. It's been miserable here almost every day for nearly 3 weeks. Looks like it will cool off Sunday and Monday, but right back to the hot temps after that... although it looks like not as hot as it has been which is nice.

It was a hot and miserable day to do the work up on those ladders though. It's got to be 20 to 25 degrees hotter up there than it is on the floor.

My old man says I don't need any more light in the garage from the pictures. From his perspective, he isn't wrong. But if I'm going to be working with wood out there, I'm going to need light sources from various angles. I want to be able to make marks and cuts wherever I'm standing at any time without worrying about dragging anything into the sweet spot.

The front of the garage is only slightly less bright than the center and the back end, but there will be shadows cast on that end without any light up there.

I managed building all of those shelves with only one very bright light in the center of the garage, but boy was that a pain always having to rotate around so I wasn't blocking the light.

I'm going to get what I can get done by around 6PM so I can clean up and do some shopping. I have some things to take back that I won't need and I have a few things I need to pick up that I didn't know I'd need.

Aren't LEDs great??! So much light, so little power! when we replaced our garage fluorescents with LEDs it was like... er...night and day.

You're right about needing light from all angles. There is general lighting... enuf to get around a room... and then there's "task" lighting. People need bright light for detail work like marking and cutting, o'wise they really can't see what they're doing.

I was wrong too... I just looked at the boxes today and mine use 65 watts and put out 6,000 lumens each.

Yeah. I actually had a taste of what it's like now today...

I had turned off the two over the garage door track after installing them just because for the work I was doing out there I didn't think I needed to be burning the full 390 watts (the reason why all 6 of the lights have porcelain pull chain sockets).

But rather than start trying to work on any of the exterior electric today since it was raining, I decided to clear out some of the junk that I had on the rafters and cut it down. I found all of the extra downspouts I had from the gutter install 2 years ago and didn't want to get rid of any of them, but some of them weren't long enough to span the rafters without the junk I got rid of.

So I had some 15" wide garbage boards of 1/4" plywood that was in the porch and I hadn't gotten around to cutting down and throwing out. I was able to make a 45" x 49.5" shelf up there to put all the aluminum in a spot where it won't be on any of my new conduit.

But when I was making my line on the first cut I said "damn"... and I was about to move my table so I could see the line but then I remembered my two new lights and turned them on and I didn't have any problem.

Me too! It's so freakin' great.

All I had in there before were the four dim flourecent bulbs over the large work bench in the 1/2 garage part, and a plug in LED bulb that mimics a flourescent light hung in the center of the garage that I had to get on a milk crate and plug in next to the garage door opener when I wanted to use it.

Now you can see my garage from space at night.

One of these days I'm going to get around to removing the florescent lights and just putting two more of these up over the large work bench on the other switch. I'm in no big hurry on that right now because I'm not paying $17 per bulb when I got the other ones on sale for $5 each. I'll be sure to stock up on them next time they go on sale.

Mowed the lawn and that's just about all I'm going to do today. I don't even remember the last day I did nothing.

My neighbor who recently retired from plumbing dropped by today while I was mowing to let me know that whenever I'm ready to do it he wants to help me put in a 2nd sump pump well and get it to shoot out the house at the right spot so I'm not held hostage by the city sewer during heavy rains anymore.

I couldn't be more thrilled.

Unfortunately, I'm super busy at the moment and will have to find time between now and August to do that. If my 10,000lbs of river rock have to sit in the sand pit during the winter and I don't get to that until next year so be it.

Oh... and when I explained to him the fix that I did to my drain a few years back I was surprised to hear from him that what I did was up to code and I "did good". That's nice to know.

I was able to take the opportunity to show him what I've been doing in the garage to illustrate how handy I am and how I can help him out with things in return. He's super envious of my garage setup right now.

I woke up at stupid o'clock, which I do about 1/3 of the time. I usually get up and do something quiet when it's clear I'm not getting back to sleep, but this time I decided to get out and do yardwork as the sun was coming up, and went back to sleep once I was pooped out. I got so much done, comparatively, I'm going to do that again next time I need to.

One more morning like that I'll have enough room for two hills of watermelon. Three more mornings like that and I can plant the okra too.

Even with the hot weather I filled up a big bin of dead nasturtiums, Bermuda grass, and weeds. By the end of next week the second veggie garden could be cleared and plante and I can start in the front yard again.

In the meantime I'm also tackling my yearly filing (6 months late!) and defrosted the freezer and I general have been tidying up

Hung out with my friend half the day today. Haven't seen him in a few months, so that was cool.

Helped him get an awesome desk for his new home office back to his place. Proud of him for spotting that at a local thrift store instead of buying it new like I'd expect him to. $75 for a beautiful marble top table that used to sit in a law firm. A table like that would probably cost over $1,000 new today.

We stopped by the local hardware store and got that 4"x4" extension box for my garage electric that was out of stock at not one but two hardware stores by me (and I REFUSED to pay $10 for on Amazon). So now I can finally wrap that box up tight and safe.

He bought a bunch of Chinese food and we ate at my place when he dropped me off. There's enough leftovers for a snack tonight and dinner tomorrow.

I'm trying to pare down my collection of things though, and I've already gotten rid of a lot of really nice furniture. I've gone 6 years without my crappy old computer desk and I don't need to be dragging something that heavy back up on the 2nd floor even though there's plenty of room for it.

I guess that law firm was trying to give away two desks that were even larger than those two were, but the thrift store said they were too big for them to handle.

Just an oddball event- a day after I pulled up the carrots that had bolted, over a week ago now, I think,y right forearm (the arm that I used to yank them up) got INCREDIBLY itchy. At first I thought I was allergic to carrot tops or flowers, but there are no documented cases (online anyway) of that. Then I thought maybe there was a weed mixed in, but I didn't recall seeing any strange plants. And ...it felt like I was being BITTEN. By microscopic mites, or something. So I looked it up, and indeed there are all kinds of mites that live in plants that temporarily burrow and bite. My arm is STILL itchy, with about a dozen tiny blisters (scratched open by now)

Yeah. They actually had another one that wasn't sold sitting right next to it too.

I'm trying to pare down my collection of things though, and I've already gotten rid of a lot of really nice furniture. I've gone 6 years without my crappy old computer desk and I don't need to be dragging something that heavy back up on the 2nd floor even though there's plenty of room for it.

I guess that law firm was trying to give away two desks that were even larger than those two were, but the thrift store said they were too big for them to handle.

Offices will do that. That's how I got this old now office chair I am using. Friend of my Blair's, his office was clearing out old furniture and seeing what I using as a computer chair asked me if I would like one from his office. Seeing as how it would cost me nothing I said, "Yes!". He brought it over a day or so later. The thing now though is this chair is well over 10 years old and I really need a new one. But I also need help and that is the hard part.

I really don't have a solution for you since you don't have credit card access. That really opens up a whole new world.

I built both of the final shelves for the pantry today. I was able to use some really nice boards from inside one of the old cabinets, so even though I had to sand everything down really good, it saved me the steps of having to put a few coats of wood putty in the knot holes like I had to do when I used plywood for the top 3 shelves.

I also had 4 smaller shelves that had nice intricate ends to them, so I was able to cut the ends of those shelves off and make a 2" high back to the shelves and 1.5" high sides for them. These will be the shelves on the bottom that I'll be able to pull out with the drawer slides I bought months ago.

Got all of that glued and clamped, then hit it with the brad nailer.

Then I caulked it all up nice and hit all sides with a coat of primer.

2 coats of paint tomorrow and they should be ready to install.

IT WAS SO NICE TO BE ABLE TO DO ALL OF THAT WORK WHILE STANDING UP FOR A CHANGE!!!!

I'll work on some more electrical stuff in the garage in between paint coats I think.

Well, some rain did arrive where I am at around 4:30pm today. Didn't last long but everything is still wet and the temp has gone down considerably. Still lots of cloud cover around.

Yeah. It's been pretty miserable. We haven't had a summer like this for a while. I don't think we're breaking any records yet though. I've seen some pretty hot ones in my life.

Back from my walk and I didn't need the umbrella I lugged along. That was good.

Sitting down now after getting my supper on. Got a small piece of pork tenderloin cooking with some potatoes, sprouts and mushrooms covered in V-8 juice. Low heat so I don't need to worry about it until I'm ready for supper.

3 coats of paint on the new pantry shelves. Should be able to install them tomorrow, but I'll wait a few days before cutting the contact paper for them.

Got a bit of the electrical done and cleaned up any stray nails and staples and whatever else the previous owners had put up all over the place in the garage wood.

In between yet more Dr appts I managed to clear enough space for two hills of watermelons (three plants each). Next five days or so are appt-free and predicted to stay under 85, so I should be able to clear space and plant okra and muskmelon. The last two are experiments, I've never grown them before.
My pepper and tomato seedlings are still too small to plant, I'll thin them out and let them grow up a little bit more. But the nursery plants are thriving. In the meantime, xfer my attention to the front yard.

Since I already showed you the pantry when I'd finished everything but the two shelves that I wanted to put on drawer slides, I figured it wouldn't be right not to show you the finished product (well... minus the white contact paper I'll put on the surfaces of them after they've had a few days to cure )

This was one of two boards I used for them. They came out of an ancient cabinet I had in my garage before taking everything apart to build shelving. It's 3/4" wide, just like the plywood shelves I made above them were, but I wanted to have some real wood here since these things would be on drawer slides and the weight of the stuff on the shelves would probably pull out of plywood.

I had 4 of these shelves, and god only knows where I salvaged them from. I think I kept them after getting rid of my hoard the first time, back during my drinking days. I had 5 of them, but I used one around Christmas time to make a new keyboard pull out drawer for my brother's desk. I didn't need much of these, but because of the nice ends that were already on them I was going to be able to make nice decorative sides and backs for the shelving without having to bother breaking out the jigsaw or router.

Everything cut down to size, pre-sanding.

Everything sanded, then glued together, clamped down and shot from the back and the bottom with 1.25" brad nails.

1 coat of primer, 3 coats of paint.

I took this shot after installing the brackets for the top shelf and after drilling my holes for the drywall anchors below it.

I spent a lot of time checking that everything was level and plumb. Take a second to think about how drawer slides pull out and how you'd take the drawer out... Yeah. When the drawer is pulled from the cabinets you have tons of room to put your fingers down and hit the latches on the sides to get the drawer out.

I was only going to have one shot at this.

THEY'RE AWESOME!!!!

I can't wait to get the contact paper on them so I can finally use them. It's been months since I finished that pantry and the coat closet otherwise.

One more thing off the to-do list.

Could I though? I dunno. I wouldn't even know how to market the stuff I've been working on, and in the age of IKEA disposable crap and a lousy economy, I just don't know how that would work out.

I know that stuff in my house is going to be extremely unique and very well built though. I don't imagine that I'll ever be hanging any pictures on any of my walls, or any window dressings other than the vinyl that I put on the windows. My art is my home.

I am thinking about building some small decorative shelving to attach to some of the walls for knick knacks though. I didn't hover around dead people in my family like a vulture when they passed like my siblings and my cousins did, but I do have one or two specific things that I asked for from each of them. Some are quite valuable, but most aren't other than sentimental value. I think it would be cool to have a place to display them that wasn't just some crappy piece of furniture.

I do have better ways to spend my summer than doing something that could have been done during the winter, but not having that pantry finished was getting on my nerves and having a bright, clean and organized garage forced me to finally get it over with.

Now that I have experience with the drawer pulls in a very odd application, I know that building and installing the two missing kitchen drawers should be a piece of cake.

Nice. The new door for my shed arrived and is ready to pick up. I need to figure a place in the garage to put it until I can get my friend's dad over here to help me install it. I have a place in mind, but I need to do a little bit of work over there before I block the area off for who knows how long. I only want to move the thing once.

I'm going to be so happy to have my shed back. I haven't used that thing in years since the old door broke.

Now I can also move all of my lawn tools and the mower out there too.

I'll probably still keep the snowblower in the garage now though, as large as it is. It used to be out in the shed, but I had that stone paver patio out there back then. Even when I finally get around to covering the sand pit with river rock, it really wouldn't be an ideal spot to be dragging a heavy machine like that from, when the only place I can even really use it is my driveway because of its size.

countertop.

Eventually, I will be resurfacing my countertop... Probably after I build the kitchen drawers, and I
want to have some extra protection on it. I'm going to sand that last one down to bring the
natural beauty of the wood out and then find what type of protective finish I can use that would
be "food safe".

Certainly no big rush on that project. Probably a winter time killer.

I was just cleaning out my gutters of other people's tree-crap during torrential rain. That was after almost getting stung by hornets that made a hive in an external electrical box I was trying to map where it would have been coming from outside the garage. When I finally killed them off and cleaned it out I got my multimeter out and turned the breaker back on, only to be suckerpunched by buckets of rain with zero forewarning and it's been raining ever since. None of this was in the forecast.

At least I didn't get stung or electrocuted.

Today sucks. I'm done working until tomorrow.
