Falsus in unum, falsus in omnibus

Putin says he would attack Finland, Lithuania, Poland, Germany. He also said he'd nuke the UK and USA. There is nothing stopping Putin but his imagining that the USA would retaliate against Russia. This kind of thing has happened before, but the USA didn't retaliate until years too late against countries on a murder-rampage against their neighbors:

Japan went on a murder-rampage in July 7, 1937. Germany in September 1, 1939. President Roosevelt wanted those countries stopped but the Republican and Dixiecrat Senators called FDR a warmonger until Pearl Harbor Day, Dec. 7, 1941. FDR could have stopped Japan and Germany in only a year's fighting, but Republican and Dixiecrat Senators would let those separate wars blossom into the biggest fire fight in Earth's history because the Senators would not vote for a declaration of war.

Now that I think of it, US Senators haven't voted for a declaration of war in 80 years. A majority of Senators are too irresponsible to make a decision about war or anything of substance, which is why the Senate has been malfunctioning for 80 years and getting worse and worse as the Senate has filled up with more and more elderly folk.

The Disappeared

Russian lawmaker Oleg Morozov of the pro-government United Russia political party, the largest in the country, was recently sharing his thoughts on a Rossiya-1 state television talk show. Speaking to pro-Kremlin TV host Olga Skabeyeva, he asked: what if Russian agents kidnapped a NATO country defense minister while they were visiting Kyiv to meet Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy? The minister would wake up, shocked, in Moscow.

“You mean we abduct them?” Skabeyeva responded, according to Reuters.

“Yes,” Morozov answered. “And then we would sort out who gave which order for what, who is responsible for what exactly. It is not such a mythical picture … There are new rules in the world now. Let all those war ministers gathering in Kyiv think a little about what it would be like to wake up in Moscow.”

This comical political rhetoric alludes to but also elides the horrific recent history of kidnappings in the Russo-Ukrainian War. “All over Ukraine, people are missing, forcing families to become detectives,” went the headline of a Washington Post story about Ukrainians seeking to solve the fates of around 9,000 missing loved ones who have disappeared since Russia invaded Ukraine in late February. Authorities are simultaneously investigating 13,000 alleged war crimes in the same period.

Sometimes the kidnappings are designed to intimidate Ukrainians living in a war zone, as France 24 explained, referring to Ukrainians who were detained, abused and tortured because they spoke out against Russian occupation. Russian forces have also made a point to “disappear” Ukrainian local officials, like mayors, who might organize resistance movements, Vox noted.

But Britain recently imposed further sanctions on Russia to signal disapproval over Russian forces abducting Ukrainian children and giving them to Russian families, the Guardian reported. The sanctions include Maria Lvova-Belova, a Putin ally who is the Russian children’s rights commissioner. She stands accused of running a state-sanctioned abduction program. Ukrainian officials claim that Lvova-Belova has masterminded the kidnappings of more than 2,000 children.

Russia has also taken other measures to absorb Ukrainians and wipe out their identities. As the Daily Beast noted, Russian occupiers of the Ukrainian city of Kherson recently decreed that all children born in the region since the invasion started would automatically be considered citizens of Russia. These measures are common throughout history when powerful nationalist forces seek to erase communities who don’t fit in with their plans, wrote University of South Carolina Law Professor Marcia Zug in the Conversation.

What’s inconvenient for them, though: Just because people disappear doesn’t mean they will be forgotten.

Putin cares. He is waiting for Trump, but the Ukrainian army is better than the Russian army (more motivated, better trained and led) and that NATO weapons are better than Russian weapons. If the current coalition in support of Ukraine holds together, a Trump victory in 2024 would be too late to salvage a Russian victory in Ukraine.

Putin had better shift his hopes to congressional Republicans taking an isolationist turn and refusing to extend military and economic aid to Ukraine.

You know what's not a fantasy?

The price hikes on food and just about everything else coming shortly down the pike because of the lack of fertilizer we've got right now thanks to JoeBama*.

Funny that the media isn't warning you about that.

I hope you've been taking my advice to stock up on food and other things, Sigs. At least you can blunt the trauma of all of the hikes we're about to see in a month or two for a while, and avoid not having things you need when we go back to Covid level toilet paper shortages on just about everything.

I'm basically stocked to the gills on everything I possibly can have stocked up within their shelf life at this point.

Well... except for gas. Although I know more than one asshole who is sitting on an extremely dangerous amount of gasoline reserves at their residence, I'm not going to do that.

A WWII refugee from Ukraine links Putin’s war to Stalin’s famine

By Oleh Wolowyna, Ph.D., a fellow at the Center for Slavic, Eurasian, and East European Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

According to our estimates of the famine’s impact, about 4 million people, or 13% of Soviet Ukraine’s population in 1933, were starved to death between 1932 and 1934, and 600,000 children were not born.

A unique characteristic of the Holodomor is that 80% of the 4 million deaths happened in six months. There was an explosion of mortality during the first half of 1933, with the number of deaths caused by the famine increasing 10 times between January and June of that year. At the height of the famine in June 1933, there were 28,000 famine-related deaths per day, or 1,167 per hour, or 19 per minute. Mortality levels of this magnitude are not found in other human-made famines. According to French historian Alain Blum, “Rarely, in all of the demographic history of Europe, will a famine have caused losses of such proportions” (Mr. Blum’s emphasis).

Why inflict such torture?

The French historian Nicolas Werth provides the following summary of Stalin’s objectives: “Choosing to instrumentalize the famine, Stalin intentionally amplified it in order to punish the Ukrainian peasants who rejected the ‘new serfdom’ and to break ‘Ukrainian nationalism,’ which he saw as a threat to his goal of constructing a centralized and dictatorial Soviet state.”

Ninety years later

Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine is an updated version of Stalin’s deliberately manufactured famine. Stalin denied the famine’s existence; Mr. Putin claimed he had no intention of invading Ukraine. Mentioning the famine was punishable by law, as is the case today with describing the invasion as war. Ukrainians starved to death during the Holodomor because Stalin took away most of the grain produced by Ukrainian peasants; Mr. Putin is stealing hundreds of thousands of tons of Ukrainian grain. In terms of Ukrainian identity, though, Mr. Putin has in some ways gone a step further than Stalin by denying the very existence of Ukraine and claiming that all Ukrainians are Russian.

When the war is over, I will probably return to Ukraine and, with my colleagues there, face the task of documenting a second genocide. We will try to determine how many civilians were killed, how many children were not born because of the war, and what proportion of future generations has been lost forever.

At Least 18 Killed in Russian Missile Strike on Ukrainian Shopping Mall

The Ukrainian defense ministry said the strike was deliberately timed to coincide with the mall's busiest hours and cause the maximum number of victims.

The Ukrainian air force said the mall was hit by Kh-22 anti-ship missiles fired from Tu-22 bombers from the region of Kursk in western Russia.

"The missile fire on Kremenchuk struck a very busy area which had no link to the hostilities," the city's mayor Vitali Maletsky wrote on Facebook.

Russia has not yet commented on the strike. In the past, Moscow has denied targeting civilians and accused Kyiv and its Western allies of staging such attacks.
https://www.themoscowtimes.com/2022/06/27/at-least-18-killed-in-russia
n-missile-strike-on-ukrainian-shopping-mall-a78123

Meanwhile, Russia’s deputy ambassador to the UN, Dmitry Polyanskiy, wrote on Twitter, without citing evidence, that the attack was a “Ukrainian provocation”. “Exactly what Kiev regime needs to keep focus of attention on Ukraine before (the) NATO Summit,” he said, referring to the alliance’s Madrid gathering due to begin on Tuesday.

Alternative lie from Russia: Russia's defence ministry on Tuesday denied hitting a shopping mall in the Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk with missiles, saying it had struck a weapons depot and a subsequent explosion of ammunition had triggered a fire in the nearby mall. I think the more believable lie is accusing Ukraine of blowing up Ukraine's mall to get sympathy from NATO. It is probably time for Ukraine to blow up a Russian mall inside Russia. Is there a major Russian shopping holiday coming sooner than Christmas? Xmas Eve is a great time to kill Russian women and children and a few store Santa Clauses but it is 6 months away!

The Pentagon wrote a Press Release: $450 Million in Additional Security Assistance for Ukraine June 23, 2022
https://www.defense.gov/News/Releases/Release/Article/3072799/450-mill
ion-in-additional-security-assistance-for-ukraine

What does the press release mean?

It simply means that American manufacturers received cash from Congress. In exchange the manufacturers ship death-to-Russia machines to Ukraine via Pentagon transportation. Ukraine never sees the cash, which stays with the American manufacturers of death machines, but in exchange for machines, Ukrainians kill Russians in ways that involve loud noises and grotesque action scenes that even the best Hollywood directors can't believably imitate. It's the eternal wheel of life and death. Money keeps the wheel rolling over the bodies of Russians, crushing them into bloody mush which impresses Congress to send more money to crush more Russians.

Which Congressmen want Russians crushed? Minority Leader Mitch McConnell on Saturday led a delegation of Republican senators to war-ravaged Ukraine. Video showed Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), John Barrasso (R-Wyo.) and John Cornyn (R-Texas) walking with McConnell in the Ukrainian capital alongside President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

6ix, you sound like you don't know what you are talking about. Signym spouts the same empty nonsense you do about Russia winning. Russia won't win if Republican Congressmen and the European Union keep sending Russian-killing-machines to Ukraine. Putin will run out of Russians willing to die for him before Ukraine runs out of Ukrainians that are willing and able to kill Russians. Raytheon will be very pleased to take the money for those machines to keep the process rolling along of reducing the population of Russians.

Russians were mostly killed by Germans and Germans were mostly killed by English-speaking warriors:
WWII Deaths
Soviet Union 27,000,000 <--This is what incompetence looks like, Signym
Germany 7,000,000
United Kingdom 450,900
United States 419,400

After the war was over, Russians would seek revenge against Germans. The Russians distinguished themselves by killing 2,000,000 German-speaking civilians, after the surrender.

Ukrainians are aware of how Russians handle conquered populations. Ukrainians also haven’t forgotten the 3,900,000 Ukrainians starved to death by the Russians in 1932-1933.

You've written the same-old 'nobody cares' or 'Trump is fine' thousands of times. Are you sure you are not a machine simulating a person? When I'm with a Trumptard they never give a sign that they are conscious people -- nothing they do is surprising, nothing they say is real or even new. But then simulacrums aren't surprising, they are just weird looking things from the uncanny valley. With Trumptards it is one predictably stupid thing after another followed by whining and complaining, then bragging and self-congratulation, same as Trump would do. Even his lies and chaotic behavior seem robotic, not human. There is no originality with that fat lying machine. It is not a crime to shoot a machine in the head. (That's part of an experiment to test whether 6ix will write 'Archived' when the 6ix robot perceives an assassination threat against Trump. It is a flawed experimental design because I informed the robot that I'm testing for signs that it is a robot.)

Some people can’t think of anything intelligent to say but at the same time they can’t keep their yaps shut, so they settle for saying something stupid. Or something contrary, or if they don’t have that they just agitate/troll.

Trump is done. He had his time. He should have ended like any cult leader of his ilk, dead and surrounded by a stack of bodies. Like Jim Jones. The Capital would have made an impressive Jonestown. People who worked for him as president are tripping over themselves to throw him to the fishes. This is dehumanizing for me to say, but Trumptards lack the human spark at work. They are dullards (less charitably described as robots) when confronting problems that don't have well-known solutions handed down from somebody who was a fully conscious human. Counties in the United States that are majority Trumptard controlled only have half the economic activity of counties that are controlled by Democrats. I think the Trumptard robots cannot compete with real human beings going about their work and living. Being robots explains the backwardness, and economic/family problems, of Trumptards. I wish the Trump voters could make themselves human, but that's not gonna happen, is it? See the article "Biden-voting counties equal 70% of America’s economy. What does this mean for the nation’s political-economic divide?"
https://www.brookings.edu/blog/the-avenue/2020/11/09/biden-voting-coun

Russia has got the same damn problem of being full of not-quite-human humans and, predictable, Russia has economic problems the same as Trumptard controlled counties in America. Russia is poor, yet it has been around since the year 862. What the hell have those Russian robots been doing for fourteen centuries? Mostly stealing land and food from smarter people who aren't Russians. Russia is below South Korea on a list of The Top 25 Economies in the World, but Korea is only a century old.

First thing, 6ix, the kind of people who vote for Democrats will NOT be done. They are smarter, stronger, healthier, wealthier and have more children than Trumptards. It is the Trumptards who rightfully should be worried about their survivability in the future. When I talk to Trumptards, they are worried. They think it is because Democrats are oppressing them, but the truth is that Trumptards don't psychologically have what is needed to prosper in America. That's why they are scared and angry and searching for somebody to save them from those nasty Democrats who are taking everything away from Trumptards.

How did the Trumptards become inferior humans? Scientific American has a story about that: How Parents’ Trauma Leaves Biological Traces in Children
Adverse experiences can change future generations through epigenetic pathways

I am 70 years old and I have been watching Trumptards grow up. Their parents and even grandparents were terrible, the very worst at raising children. The horrible results from all this incompetence is very apparent in the Trumptards I know. If I had been raised as badly as these Trumptards, I'd probably have as difficult a life as the Trumptards have.

The same bad parenting that ruined the Trumptard children has also ruined today's Russians. But at least the Russians can truthfully blame history: WWI, Stalin, WWII, the Cold War, the Collapse of the Soviet Union, Putin's thievery for the present generation of worthless Russians, traumatized by their parents/government/war/famine/history. It is unsurprising that these sad, psychologically damaged Russians are trying to steal land and food from Ukraine. The Russians have got excuses for why they are the way they are. Unfortunately, the Trumptards in America don't have those excuses for their bad behavior. The Trumptards are sui generis screw-ups, dingbats and loonies. The future won't be kind to those people.

Good.

Because unlike your ceaseless persecution of Trump and endless wars that you cheerlead, we have a date on this one for the Tick Tock clock.

I'll see how much you care on November 9th. Assuming you even stick around after the loss.

Your brain, SECOND, it's twisted itself into knots.

If my brain was as twisted as yours, I'd worry about it.

I am NOT voting for the Republican Party candidates because the Republican voters, note well the word voters, are crazy people from my experience. They live ridiculous lives, have problems that a sane person, but not a crazy person, could easily solve. I will not follow the well trodden paths of crazy people and do what they do.

Maybe I haven't told you this recently, or you never read it, but all the Trump voters I know are crazy people, with the exception of the richest Trump voters, who voted for Trump because he would reduce their taxes since Trump, himself, doesn't pay taxes. Twice Trump went to the Supreme Court in order to keep his tax returns a secret from grand juries. If you recall, Trump promised to reveal his tax returns to the entire world before he was elected. But after the election? All Trump promises were cancelled by that fat lying sack of shit. ("I can't because I'm being audited," said Trump numerous times. The truth is that the IRS isn't stopping him. His tax attorneys can't stop him, either. They work for Trump, not the other way around.) Signym, are you really so stupid as to believe Trump paid what he owes?

The people I know who voted twice for Trump (those not disturbed by his bizarre behavior as President) are even crazier than the ones who voted only once for Trump. That is my real life experience with Trump voters.

The people I know who minimize what Trump did after he lost the election are even crazier than the first two groups. I am NOT basing my opinion that they are crazy on their support of Trump. I am basing it on how they live from day to day.

I will never vote for candidates loved by crazy people. The average Republican voter is an abnormal person. Expressed mathematically: Average does not equal Normal

There is no truths in these claims about Putin / NATO / EU / USA. The real truth about Putin is simpler and uglier and will get many Russians killed:

How Far Do Putin’s Imperial Ambitions Go?

The Russian president and his inner circle speak openly about retaking the vast lands that Moscow once controlled. As the war continues in Ukraine, Russia’s neighbors are taking the threats seriously.

By Yaroslav Trofimov
June 24, 2022 11:53 am ET

At a ceremony honoring young geographers in 2016, President Vladimir Putin asked one boy about the capital of Burkina Faso and then quizzed another about where Russia’s borders end.

“At the Bering Strait with the United States,” the 9-year-old boy ventured hesitantly. Mr. Putin, who chairs the board of the Russian Geographic Society, contradicted the boy to triumphant applause. “The borders of Russia,” he pronounced, “never end.”

The scene, years before Mr. Putin’s invasion of Ukraine unleashed the biggest war in Europe since World War II and triggered a breakdown between Russia and the West, illuminates a conviction deeply held by many in Moscow’s establishment: that Russia has the natural right, and the existential need, for territorial expansion.

Until recently, this imperial belief was often couched in language that is more acceptable in the 21st century, such as security concerns about NATO’s expansion or apprehension about alleged discrimination against Russian-speaking minorities. Since the war began, however, calls for seizing new lands have become much more explicit.

Earlier this month, Mr. Putin said that he views Ukraine as just the first step, with many other territories potential targets.
On June 9, he held court in front of a sign proclaiming “Peter the Great, the Birth of the Empire” at an exhibition honoring the 350th anniversary of Russia’s first emperor. With a smile, Mr. Putin explained that when Peter conquered from Sweden the area of today’s St. Petersburg and the city of Narva, currently in Estonia, “he was merely returning what is ours, and strengthening it,” even though nobody else at the time recognized the legality of Russia’s land grab.

“It seems like it is our destiny too, to return and to strengthen,” Mr. Putin added, suggesting that—like the wars of Peter the Great—the current conflict could last more than two decades. His senior adviser Vladimir Medinsky was even more explicit. He lamented at the same conference that Russia’s territory has greatly diminished from the time when Moscow controlled one-sixth of the planet’s surface, including Finland, Poland, and 14 other currently independent nations. That unfortunate territorial retreat “is not forever,” he said.

Much of this revanchist rhetoric is driven by decades of resentment over the Soviet Union’s collapse, a defining moment in the lives of Mr. Putin and most of Russia’s ruling class. Described by Mr. Putin as the biggest catastrophe of the 20th century, the 1991 dissolution of the Soviet Union deprived Russia of nearly half the population and lands that had been amassed by czars over the centuries. It also turned a global superpower into a rump, bankrupt nation beset by poverty, corruption and internal revolts.

Moscow’s fresh threats against neighbors such as Estonia and Lithuania (members of NATO and the European Union) or Moldova (recently invoked as a target by a senior Russian general) might seem outlandish given the difficulties that Russia’s military has encountered this year in Ukraine. Russian troops had to retreat from the capital Kyiv and other northern cities in late March because of fierce Ukrainian resistance and since then have been bogged down in a slow, g

Ukraine Drives Russian Forces From Snake Island, a Setback for Moscow

The Russian defense ministry, in a statement, sought to cast the retreat as “a gesture of goodwill” that would “not allow Kyiv to speculate on the impending food crisis,” since control of the island is vital to securing the shipping lanes in the northwestern corner of the Black Sea. Russia’s de facto naval blockade has prevented Ukraine from exporting most of its prewar average monthly supply of five million tons of grain.

Despite the Russian statement, there was no indication that the Kremlin will allow safe passage of Ukrainian vessels leaving the port of Odesa.

Yup. That's the end game.

From that article you mentioned:
Quote:

This would confirm what I and many others have been saying since Russia invaded: that this proxy war is being waged not with the intention of saving Ukrainian lives by delivering a swift defeat to Moscow but with the intention of creating a costly, gruelling military quagmire to weaken Russia on the world stage.
"A swift defeat to Moscow . . ." The USA would have to fight Russia directly, sending in hundreds of thousands of troops, to achieve "a swift defeat to Moscow". 6ix, do you really want the US Army fighting in Ukraine? I'm curious about how you think wars end swiftly because I have never known a Trumptard to understand military strategy beyond what they see in Top Gun: Maverick.

I noticed that only Trumptards at fff.net are commenting on Tom Cruise and Top Gun: Maverick.
http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=36&tid=65066
http://fireflyfans.net/mthread.aspx?bid=36&tid=62441
This is truly a stupid ass movie, every bit as unbelievable as Tom Cruise's Mission Impossible movies. Tom Cruise is dropping a bomb down the ventilator shaft of the Death Star. No, that's Star Wars. Tom Cruise is dropping two bombs, not one but two, down the ventilator shaft of an unfinished factory for atom bombs. No, that's the unfinished Death Star in Return of the Jedi.

If the US Army goes into Ukraine, it will be Iraq all over again, where the US Army could not tell the difference between Shiites and Sunnis, except it will not tell the difference between Ukrainians and Russians. The US Army will murder everybody on all sides. Ukraine will be asking the US Army to please stop helping and leave the fighting to Ukraine. Who better knows the difference between Russians and Ukrainians? Maybe the US Army can skip over helping Ukraine and attack Russia directly? But then Russia will nuke Washington DC and NYNY. Putin has threatened to exactly that. While he is at it, Putin will nuke London because Boris Johnson has visited Ukraine.

6ix, Trumptards are the cancer that says healthy tissue is the cancer. In so few words, you hit every single Trumptard's bitching about the 20th and 21st Century. Yeah, we know Trumptards can't compete internationally or even locally and therefore get their stupid asses fired from job after job. Yeah, we know Trumptards have no money, again because they are stupid and crazy, and that they cheat on their taxes. (See Trump about tax cheating.) Yeah, I know Republicans make terrible soldiers - cowardly, poor marksmanship, inability to understand orders when under any pressure, and tactically incompetent in battle. (See Trump and his bone spurs and draft deferments. The only good he did is to understand weaklings like him are dead meat if they went to Vietnam. Trump and his kind are cannon fodder, not warriors.) It is no surprise that Trump's kind of people wanted to quit NATO. Trump's kind don't survive when they go into battles because they are grossly unsuitable for war. Not really suitable for work, either. Laying around and bragging about themselves and their importance? That's what they are good for.

Let's be plain and clear: Trumptards are crazy, shiftless, untrustworthy, cheapskate, cowardly, incompetent Americans with family/financial/health/mental problems who can't understand that about themselves because of their huge and inflamed egos. Trumptards love Trump because he has all their faults and never acknowledges any of what obviously is wrong about himself. That gives Trumptards permission to be little Trumps.

Since this about Russia, Putin is their Trump. He will tell the losers they aren't cowards, lazy, stupid, dishonest murderers. Putin will tell the losers they are heroes. Why would Russians believe that about themselves? Huge and inflamed egos, exactly what Trumptards have in America.

It sure would be a different world if their egos forced them to be at least halfway as good and heroic as they only imagine themselves to be.

I read a story today about the designer of the 50 star US Flag. It turns out the story that the designer tells, Robert G. Heft, is a lie. I bring that up because Trumptards lie constantly, in my experience, to make themselves appear more significant. Heft is dead since 2009, so he never could have voted for Trump, but I bet he would have from reading his sad story, where one screwed up generation raises the next screwed generation, much the same as goes on in Russia since WWI, Stalin, WWII, the Cold War, the collapse of the Soviet Union, Putin's trillions of dollars in theft produced a bunch of Russian lying sacks of shit who have problems with alcohol, tobacco, money, jobs, marriage, family, you name it, it is a problem for a Russian soldier who is in Ukraine killing women and children.

So, am I calling you a liar, 6ix? Yes, I am. All I really have is the fact that you defend Trump, another wild liar, and your extremely fucked up family. Don't feel bad. Most Russians have extremely fucked up families, too! But their excuse is the tumultuous Russian history. 6ix doesn't have that excuse.
Quote:

Robert Galen Heft was born in Saginaw, Michigan, on Jan. 19, 1942. His parents, Maynard G. Heft and Viola C. Weaver, separated when he was a baby. Maynard Heft ran into trouble with the law—he was charged with stealing chickens as a teenager, and for the theft of 75 pigeons—and served time in the Michigan state reformatory. Viola eventually remarried, and neither would play a significant role in their son’s childhood.

When Heft was 1 year old, he went to live with Sheldon and Gladys Schromme in Lancaster. While he spoke of the Schrommes as his grandparents, their exact relationship is unclear—Gladys may have been a great-aunt on his father’s side—and Heft remembered them both as strict disciplinarians.

Lancaster was a small city of around 25,000 people, about 30 miles southeast of Columbus, informally known by its residents as “the whitest town in America,” which made it a favorable region for the Ku Klux Klan. (One of Bob Heft’s nephews, Maynard, told me that Heft privately claimed that his grandfather had been the grand dragon of the klan in Ohio.) As a boy, Heft attended Calvary Lutheran Church and enrolled in the Cub Scouts. At Lancaster High School, he joined the library club and student council, but he was socially awkward—a large kid with thick glasses—and he never went on dates or attended dances.

Heft always said that designing the flag in Stanley Pratt’s American history class was the turning point of his life, and he precisely dated the beginning of the project to Friday, April 18, 1958. This is inconsistent with the assertion—which appeared equally often in his recollections—that he was 17 and a high school junior at the time. The chronology also conflicts with his claim to have contacted Gov. Michael DiSalle and Congressman Walter Moeller, neither of whom was in office until the following year. To make his story more impressive, it seems likely that Heft consciously revised the timeline in his favor.

The Trumptards at work have the same problem you do. With each new piece of machinery they will get befuddled, nervous, angry, so ANGRY! that it isn't what they are familiar with. Do they read the manual? They try, but they don't understand. That's why I have people who aren't Trumptards around. They read the manual. They don't get confused when some new and different machine goes online. They are nothing like those asshole Trumptards, which probably explains why they have smoothly running lives while the asshole Trumptards live in chaos and confusion. Trumptards are very amusing people, if you want to laugh at their pretensions of superiority, but they are not very useful. Neither are Russians very useful, but they sure do have a superiority complex fueled by Putin telling them mighty Russia should be running the world, starting with running Ukraine.

Bored now.

ETA: But if you're ever this way, and I have some ripe ones, stop by for an avocado toast. I give avocadoes away, and neighbors say they're the best they've ever tasted. Prolly bc the trees are too tall to pick, so I have to wait for them to ripen naturally and fall. Grab a cuppa home-brewed coffee if that's your thing. Hubby makes the best.

See what investigators are finding at attack site as Putin denies responsibility

At least 18 people are dead, dozens wounded and several missing after a Russian missile attack on a mall in the central Ukrainian city of Kremenchuk. CNN's Salma Abdelaziz was at the site of the strike where Ukrainian prosecutors and investigators are collecting evidence to prove what they say is another Russian war crime.

Recent attacks on pro-Russian officials in southern Ukraine indicate signs of growing resistance movement

US officials say a trio of assassination attempts targeting pro-Russian officials over the past two weeks suggests a burgeoning resistance movement against pro-Russian authorities occupying parts of southern Ukraine.

While it is just a few incidents isolated to the town of Kherson so far, US officials say the resistance could grow into a wider counterinsurgency that would pose a significant challenge to Russia's ability to control newly captured territory across Ukraine.

The Kremlin "faces rising partisan activity in southern Ukraine," Avril Haines, the director of national intelligence, said during a conference in Washington, DC, on Wednesday.

The US believes that Russia does not have enough forces in Kherson to effectively occupy and control the region, one US official said, especially after pulling forces from the area for the fight to the east in Donbas. Another US official told CNN that move may have provided Ukrainian partisans with a window in which to attack locally installed Russian officials.

Ukraine has also conducted limited counterattacks near Kherson, further straining Russian forces.

The region is critical to Russia's hold on Ukraine's Black Sea coast and controls access to the Crimean peninsula. It's unclear how many Russian forces are in or near Kherson, but an occupation against a hostile local population requires far more soldiers than a peaceful occupation of territory.

Russia's leaders have prioritized the military campaign at the expense of any semblance of government. "It's clearly not something they're able to invest in right now," one US official said.

Trio of assassination attempts

The first attack in Kherson occurred on June 16, when an explosion shattered the windows of a white Audi Q7 SUV. The vehicle was left seriously damaged, but the target of the attack survived. Eugeniy Sobolev, the pro-Russian head of the prison service in occupied Kherson, was hospitalized after the attack, according to Russian state news agency RIA Novosti.

It has not been an easy week for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

He took his first foreign trip since the invasion of Ukraine to shore up relations with troublesome Central Asian allies. He watched as NATO declared Moscow its main enemy and invited Russia's neighbors Sweden and Finland to join the alliance. And he was forced to deny that his troops had yet again attacked a civilian target in Ukraine.

Countering a show of Western unity over Ukraine at a series of summits in Europe this week, Putin has sought to cast the moves by the U.S. and its allies as a proof of their hostile designs, and he vowed to press the offensive against Russia's neighbor, now in its fifth month.

Putin long has described NATO's expansion to Russia's borders as the top security threat to his country. When he sent troops into Ukraine on Feb. 24, he cited increasingly close military ties between Kyiv and the West as a key reason behind his action.

Russia's aggression against its neighbor has helped cement Western unity, with allies offering billions of dollars in weapons and aid to Kyiv and slamming Russia with unprecedented sanctions that froze its hard currency reserves, targeted oil and other key experts, and barred its planes from European skies.

The invasion also prompted NATO to deploy more troops and weapons into the territories of its members in Eastern Europe and encouraged Sweden and Finland to abandon their neutrality and seek NATO membership.

At its summit in Madrid on Wednesday, the alliance formally invited the two nations to join and declared Russia the “most significant and direct threat” to its members’ peace and security.

Putin, who visited Turkmenistan Wednesday to attend a Caspian Sea summit with three former Soviet nations and Iran, responded by saying that NATO's actions proved its anti-Russian focus while admitting his action helped Western allies cement their ranks.

It was Trump who agreed to withdraw from Afghanistan. Biden could have kept troops in, but the troops proved to Biden and the whole world that they are worthless, except at killing. How did they prove it? By killing the wrong family as the troops' last official act. Biden was smart to not let those idiotic troops stay in Afghanistan. And the President of Afghanistan proved himself to be a coward by fleeing even before the last American soldier had left the country.

That had nothing to do with what you quoted, Second.

But while we're on the subject, yeah... fuck Ukraine and Coldplay.

I don't need to listen to Leftoid agenda driven "music" being played while I'm working on the hour, every hour, on the two stations I listen to while Coldplay cashes in on their virtue signalling.

That's what my cordless Bluetooth Ryobi radio that works with my power tool batteries is for. Commercial and Leftoid agenda free music.

They still play Stairway to Heaven too much in 2022. The only reason that anybody is going to remember People of the Pride a year from now is that the Leftoids are going to make everyone ceaselessly suffer through it in the media every June.

Kudos to Coldplay on the grift though. Pure genius.

Even if they didn't have 2 decades of well-received catalog to fall back on behind them, the royalties from this one song would be enough for every member's family to live for the rest of their lives I'm sure.

Those are great. Less than 500 troops? Not exactly going to scare anyone or be suddenly redeployed to destroy Russia. Not sure how that pertains.

Did you watch Jens Stoltenberg, NATO general secretary at his press conference from Madrid?

"MADRID (AP) — An unstable world could get even more dangerous if NATO does not remain strong and united, the head of the alliance said Thursday at the end of a summit where Western leaders labeled Russia “a direct threat” to the security of their nations.

During their three-day meeting in Madrid, NATO members confronted a geopolitical landscape marked by big-power competition and myriad threats, from cyberattacks to climate change. The leaders cast their sights around the world —- drawing a rebuke after accusing China of posing “serious challenges ” to global stability. But Russia’s invasion of Ukraine dominated the summit.

“We live in a more dangerous world and we live in a more unpredictable world, and we live in a world where we have a hot war going on in Europe,” NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said. “At the same time, we also know that this can get worse.”

You say Fuck Ukraine and who cares because I suspect you haven't read anything about the conflict or the history. You should try, work that brain a little.

It’s important to beat Russian President Vladimir Putin on the battlefield in Ukraine, as international sanctions alone won’t work, former president of Lithuania Dalia Grybauskaite told CNBC.

“From the very beginning of the war, I have said that Putin only understands the language of strength, and he can be stopped only on the battlefield — not by sanctions,” she said on Wednesday.

“Sanctions are painful to all of us, and their effect takes longer; the effect on the battlefield is quicker,” she said, adding that NATO needs to provide Ukraine appropriate, fast and necessary equipment to make this war as short as possible.

Failing to do so will only prolong the war, she said.

She hailed NATO’s decision to label Russia a direct threat as a “huge step forward.”

Russia's messages with missiles tell West to back off

While much of the attritional war in Ukraine’s east is hidden from sight, the brutality of Russian missile strikes on a mall in the central city of Kremenchuk and on residential buildings in the capital, Kyiv, unfolded in full view of the world and especially of Western leaders gathered for a trio of summits in Europe.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko suggested the missiles are a message from Putim, three days after EU leaders unanimously agreed to make Ukraine a candidate for membership.

The former commanding general of U.S. Army forces in Europe, retired Lt. Gen. Ben Hodges, went further in connecting the attack and the meetings. “The Russians are humiliating the leaders of the West,” he said.

Defying the evidence, Putin and his officials deny that Russia hit residential areas.

Sorry to tell a Ruskie this but Russia has an economy smaller than South Korea, larger than North Korea. That Russian smallness limits what Putin can do. And there is a time limit on Putin. When Putin dies, absurdities irrupt into the Russian narrative. And Putin will die before the West runs out of ammo to kill Russian soldiers.

Ukraine-Russia war: The first four months in numbers

Army Technology reports:

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February this year has resulted in a reaffirmation among NATO members about the need for the Alliance and the role it plays in European security. However, as the war drags on, the scale of the challenge is becoming ever clearer.

Earlier this week, NATO announced that it would increase the number of forces held as rapid readiness to more than 300,000, up from around 40,000 at present, mainly based on the Alliance’s eastern front.

The move comes after decades of counter-insurgency operations by member states in countries such as Afghanistan and represents an indication of a return to a Cold War stance when NATO faced off against the Soviet Union. The casualty rates on both sides of the Ukraine-Russia war indicate a type of conflict being fought that has not been seen on the European continent for generations.

Speaking at the RUSI Land Power Conference in London on 28 June, the UK Chief of the General Staff General Patrick Sanders outlined the scale of the war in Ukraine, detailing the commitment by Moscow of 103 battalion tactical groups to the ground war, with up to 33,000 Russian military personnel dead, wounded, missing or captured.

In addition, Sanders said that Ukraine’s military is seeing up to 200 casualties per day, with 77,000km2 of its landmass seized by Russia – equivalent to 43% of the total area of the Baltic states. The renewed war has also resulted in around 4,700 civilian deaths, according to Sanders, with eight million civilians now refugees.

Ammunition has also been expended on both sides at a rate unsustainable for most NATO countries, further indicating both the levels of conflict and a lack of strategic depth among some Alliance members.

Dr Jack Watling, senior research fellow in land warfare at RUSI, told delegates at the RUSI conference that, based on figures from the UK’s participation in Exercise Warfighter in 2021, the UK would hypothetically run out of stockpiled ammunition in two days based on current Russian usage, or around two weeks if compared to Ukraine.

Oleksandr Danylyuk, a former adviser to Ukraine’s Minister of Defence, presenting at the conference, said that a lack of Soviet ammunition available in the international market required an “immediate shift to western systems”.

Regarding Ukrainian military casualties, Watling said more of its personnel had been killed or seriously wounded in the four months of fighting from 24 February than there is infantry in the entire British Army. The British Army lists around 25% of its personnel as being infantry, equating to just over 20,000 if based on full time regular figures.

The need for commonality

Watling said that further western support to Ukraine in the coming months would need to see greater rationalisation, centered around “common” gun and ammunition types. NATO members have supplied significant quantities of weapons, vehicles, and other military systems to Kyiv, however many require bespoke training packages and nation-specific ammunition.

According to the US Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), in the case of artillery, the US has sent 128 M777 155mm howitzers to Ukraine, including 36,000 rounds of 105mm ammunition in the latest series of security aid packages.

The CSIS report described the delivery of such a quantity of 105mm ammunition was ”unusual” given that the majority of artillery systems provided to Ukraine to date ”have been the larger 155mm calibre, which has become the NATO standard for nearly all units”.

France is another to have provided a 155mm artillery system to Kyiv, with its CAESAR howitzers. The UK and New Zealand are outliers in their provision of 105mm artillery platforms, with the bulk of the ammunition provided by Washington, CSIS states in its 27 June analysis.

“As long as it takes,” Biden said. “Russia cannot in fact defeat Ukraine and move beyond Ukraine. The bottom line is ultimately the reason why gas prices are up is because of Russia. Russia, Russia, Russia. The reason why the food crisis exists is because of Russia,” Biden added.

My answer, if I was President: "Putin and I both want low, low gasoline and food prices and if that means Ukraine has to be annihilated I will be sending American troops to destroy Ukraine following Putin's orders. Lysichansk Is Under Control Of The Russian Side

Lysichansk is now under control of the Russian side of the war.

This was reported by a Russian speaking journalist from the Lysichansk City Park (map) which is at the center of the city. There are a few locals around him who seem to be happy. There is no background noise of shooting or artillery fire or impacts in his report.

The Lugansk People’s Republic now has the entire territory of the Lugansk oblast under its control.

This comes only a week after the cauldron around Lysichansk began to close. Until a few hours ago there was still a chance to flee from Lysichansk but the only passable road was under Russian fire. It is not know yet how many made it out or how many gave up and were taken prisoners.

Assassinate Putin? Don't be silly, Signym. The CIA tried assassinating Castro dozens of times. Castro died an old man so the assassination route is not a believable tactic for America. Killing Putin would require assassins who know it is a kamikaze mission and the CIA doesn't have anybody like that on call. Not even Tom Cruise in one of his Mission Impossible movies ever goes in knowing that he will die.

But if America can't kill Putin, Putin's soldiers are easy to kill by the tens of thousands, as Ukraine has proved. Unfortunately for Putin's dream of expanding the Russian Empire, he only has a smallish number of soldiers to expend. Putin can't emulate Stalin and kill Russians by the millions, confident that the peasants will keep sacrificing themselves for Mother Russia. Putin will have to quit his invasion when the number of dead and wounded gets to, who knows, 500,000. I don't think even Putin knows. Whatever the number, ordinary Russians will realize that this is a stupid war being fought because Putin needs to feel good about himself as the reincarnation of Peter the Great. Killing/wounding 500,000 Russians is a very doable number for Ukraine, assuming the EU/NATO/UK/USA keep supplying ammo.

Putin is not the only old man with delusions. Biden has some, too, which he tweets @POTUS

My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril.

Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now.

During WWII the Federal government had price controls on gasoline because it was a perfect time for price gouging by Capitalists. The government could actually remember what happened in WWI. But government has forgotten what it once knew. Today there are no price controls.

There is a US Inflation Calculator to easily calculate how the buying power of the US dollar has changed from 1913-present:

https://www.usinflationcalculator.com/

https://smartasset.com/investing/inflation-calculator

What once cost $1 now costs $29.52

Here is a different calculator that compares prices from centuries ago:

https://www.in2013dollars.com/us/inflation/1844?amount=1

$1 in 1844 is worth $38.97 today.

Capitalism is a machine for raising prices. Capitalists can take extremely profitable advantage of Americans who don't understand how Capitalism works.

Ben Franklin knew how Capitalism works. He set aside a small amount of money for an experiment. Franklin’s glorious 200-year experiment in microlending came to an official end in 1990, by which time the compounded value of the funds was $4.5 million in Boston and $2 million in Philadelphia. Inflation is wonderful, assuming you have money and use inflation to achieve ever larger wealth.

Quoting Putin: Mr.

That's a false equivalence argument.

The world-wide median per-capita income was $2,920 in 2020, and that's before wages were pushed up post-Covid plandemic.

If I owned my mud hut in Kenya free and clear, I'd be living on 25 cents per day.

As it stands now, I'm under $18 per day. If I didn't have property taxes I would be under $15 per day.

The average working American will spend more filling up their tank to get to and from work this week than I will to live comfortably the entire week. The average working American will spend more on lunch Tuesday when the holiday weekend is over than it costs me to comfortably live for the entire day.

And all of that was paid for, well in advance. Most of the stuff I have in my house for future use was bought pre-Bidenflation. Zero on credit. Zero interest payments. Plenty stock of everything I need on hand.

Hell... If I wanted to, I could just not buy any food or toiletries for the next 2 years to keep stocked up and I could bring that $15 down to $10 per day. Then the only thing keeping me from being under $10 would be paying for other people's kids to go to school.

I've been asking and they either don't know Abbott's name or they think his name is Perry, a previous governor. Ignoramuses don't prosper anywhere in the world, especially in America. That is a rule which is true even in Russia. Too bad more ignoramuses don't know it, but then they wouldn't be ignorant, would they?

Go talk to somebody who is actually poor. Most of them are Democrats, so you shouldn't have a hard time finding one.

Apparently you do. You can't stop talking about my personal life.

Stop pretending that you're talking to somebody that doesn't understand money, and I won't tell you for the 10,000th time that I have no money worries.

According to JD Power, the average car loan is $700 a month now. Add that to the $1200 to $2000 I'm not paying on rent or mortgage in BidenWorld and it's no different than me making $1900 to $2600, tax free, every month, simply by not doing anything.

And then think of the large percentage of all that money that Americans are paying for interest on their loans and not even to pay down the shit they don't own.

No. They don't prosper. They vote Democrat.

SECOND, at this point people who vote Dem are either poor resentful blacks, poor Hispanics, resentful women, LGBTQX activists, or virtue-signalling white males. Hardly the kind of attitude groups on which to build a better nation.

If you love America and care about Americans .... and clearly, you DON'T ... you would reward hard work, a positive attitude, realism, and a concern for all Americans equally. That would build a strong, independent, and properous nation.

Instead, you obviously hate America and most Americans. You hate people who expect to be rewarded for working, and you care far more about Ukraine/ Russia/ Vietnam/ blacks/ LGBTQ/ illegal immigrants/ (fill in the blank) splinter groups. And in reality you promote virtue-signalling rentier money-grubbers.
