I did. Got a couple of good arm stretches in on my right shoulder, over my head. Listened to some music as well.

My friend's dad came over late in the afternoon yesterday and we got the last of the jambs up before casing both doors and one of the windows. At this point I could do the rest on my own but I'm happy that he's coming back on Thursday because doing trim is much easier with 4 hands instead of 2.
We were going to be short one painted casing because one of the ones that I had painted was warped and we used that for the tops of the doors. That's okay. I did an inventory of what I had unpainted in my basement and it turns out I have 5 extra pieces for what I need to finish in the porch and on the 1st floor, leaving me some extra if I decide I want to put the wide trim on the inside of the bathroom door even though I can't put the wide trim on the window in there because it's so close to the shower.
Rather than just paint one casing, I brought out 9 more of the 7'6" casings, all three of the 10' casings I have plans for on the 1st floor, the last 12' piece of baseboard and 3 pieces of quarter round trim and painted the 1st coat on all of them. In about an hour or two I'll put the finish coat on them. That's a huge head start on the 1st floor work I want to get done this winter. That's exactly the amount I need right now, but I had no more space to paint any more casings. I do have the 5 backups that I'd need to paint if any mistakes are made, but that's fine.
I just spray foam insulated the final window now. I'll cut out the excess and insulate what I couldn't with the foam tomorrow and probably install all of the baseboard. I have a particular way that I do it that is rather time consuming and my friend's dad wouldn't have the patience for it. But with proper coping saw cuts and 22.5 degree scarf joints it's going to look like all of those pieces of wood grew like that when I'm done.

Got the final coat on everything I had out there and I'm calling it a day.
Tomorrow I'm just going to throw the remaining 5 casings into the mix and get all of my inventory painted to be done with it.
I'd like the baseboard installed in between as well as finish the insulation on the small window.
I might also paint the inside of the porch door we installed last fall. I don't have any exterior paint though, so because I don't have a car that's probably going to have to wait another winter. It held up just fine last year. No big deal.

No. At least not yet.
It went to the mechanic that gets around to working on your car whenever he feels like getting to it. Add to that he's going to have to fabricate some stuff and do a custom job here, I don't imagine this is going to be a quick fix. As long as it took him last time to do the brake lines, he didn't charge me his normal shop rates. We ended the last thing on good terms and maybe if I'm not an asshole to him this time around I might get a good deal on this... assuming he is able to fix it.
I'm relatively stocked up this time now, and with my neighbor asking me for favors I'll be able to cash in on some rides when I need them after their remodel is finished and they're not living like gypsies out of other people's houses. Depending on how tomorrow goes I might see if he can run me up to the store to get some external paint since he's already carting me a couple of places on Thursday morning, but with the clock ticking on the nice weather we've been blessed with, I don't know if I'd have time to get to it anyhow.
I was hoping to put this off until January when absolutely nothing is going on. Because right now if my friend wants help on the weekend he has to come and pick me up again. And I'm not going to be able to finish the work my aunt wanted done by the end of November unless she comes out and picks me up.

I'm usually pretty good at scheduling myself for appointments. I get an appointment slip written for me and then I put that on the fridge in good sight range, then sometimes I will write it down as well in a note book I keep in my back pack.
But still my brain can look at something that if very straight forward and decide it is wrong. Takes a bit to get it back on track. Now, I just hope it stays on track. *L*
My memory was wonderful when I was younger anything my mom needed to know and I could usually recall it. Though that was before the brain tumour and surgery to remove said. It was a while after that that I started noticing differences. Then when looking after my mom through cancer surgery and chemo treatments the first time, I developed a system. I would stack all appointments on the kitchen table then as they were covered, I would remove them and put the paper into recycling. So in a lot of ways I have just continued on with it.

Well I've been telling people since it came out that they need to watch Utopia. Glad you finally found it because as far as I know nobody else watched it.
Unfortunately, it did not get a 2nd season. It kind of blows my mind that they even released the 1st season when they did, right at the beginning of the Plandemic.
It's still worth watching to the end even though you're going to be left as empty as you were when watching Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.
There is a UK version of the show that came out first. I've never looked into it to see if they actually finished that show or not.
You're right about the gore though. My old man told me I should watch it and after maybe just the first or second episode I told him that I might not finish it. He told me that he thought the same thing, but that he stuck with it and that I should too. He was right. But that was all before the lockdowns started happening and I knew that there was no chance they were going to tell any more of that particular story.
They blame the cancellation on low viewership, but if you watch it all you'll know why that's bullshit.

The spherical virus with the spikes sticking out of it? That's a corona virus. A lot of viruses have distinctive shapes, and that's one of them. (Ebola is another one. It's rod-shaped with a curl, crook, or loop on one end, kind of like a shepherd's crook.)
The second is the bat as the ostensible source of the virus.
The third is that the virus was deliberately manufactured.
The fourth is the evil pharma genius who spreads a virus in order to promote a vaccine, sidestepping the FDA in order to get an EUA. (I don't know what's with the vaccine yet, but it's not looking good.)
A fifth, I suppose, is more descriptive thn predictive, but it's USA's (and China's) continuation of biowarfare research.
I was just as surprised watching it as I was re-watching "The Lone Gunmen" (an X-Files spinoff.) Their VERY FIRST episode was about a USA government plot to get terrorists to fly a commercial passenger jet into one of the twin towers. Aired BEFORE 9-11.
Anyway, all of this got me to thinking how "Contagion" primed people to accept lockdowns.

Suppose to rain in my area tomorrow and through Friday and the weekend. Have to see.
We did. But areas of my province are still dry. There was a brush fire in a little place called Oliver in the Interior on Halloween. Stupid people setting off fireworks. The fire department there got it out before it got out of hand, thank goodness.
My mom's hometown of Cranbrook and other areas close to the Rockies are seeing some snow today. That snow will probably cross the Rockies into Southern Alberta to places like Lethbridge, Calgary.

Gotta get to bed at a reasonable hour today. I've obligated myself to help my neighbor move furniture again but didn't know until a few hours ago that it starts at 8AM. I didn't even wake up today until 9AM.

It's probably more manic than motivated.
You know that I'm prone to falling into a state where I'm getting nothing done for weeks or even months on end.The warm weather surely helps. I don't function well when it's colder than 60 degrees, so I've got to take the gift that I've been given. It gets cold next week, probably until March or April. Two winters ago I managed to work nearly every day on my kitchen despite the terrible cold weather that year, but then last year was a lot more mild and there were about 3 months there I didn't do anything but watch YouTube and play video games.
Getting a huge backlog of to-do on the DONE list is a great motivator though too. When I first started working on my house again it all seemed so insurmountable. But now that I'm a few years into it and I've been able to cash in some of my favors to get things done I couldn't on my own it's really all coming together.

I don't remember. All I remember was that I was warned by my brother ahead of time not to watch it and I didn't listen to him. It was the worst cliffhanger ending to a show I've ever seen. It was the one that was starring Summer Glau.

It's been a long time now since I've seen it. I forget most of what happened now except for most of the first episode, the overall vaccination story, "What have you done today to earn your place in this crowded world?*, and the River-esque character standing while taking a pee and pointing the gun at them.

The insulation I needed for the attic went on sale yesterday. Something like $13.50 per bat after rebate.
It's still more than I intend to pay, but it's about $11 off per piece at Biden* prices. Since there is no limit on the time that you have to return it I'm going to buy them and just hold them for now. If they do go on sale at a steep discount on Black Friday again or at some point in the winter, I can just return them and go right back to the register and buy them at the cheaper price.

I finished the Utopia series, at least as far as it got.
Im gonna throw in my guess how the second season might go:
Enyo/Homeland Security/Home was taking Dr Christie's idea in a whole new direct: creating multiple viruses that would control people behavior, eliminating greed, anger etc
The marks on Jessica's back were from the various viruses that she is host to
Dr Michael has the mother egg for the sterilization virus. I think he wants to create a vaccine for THAT.
Dr Christie's character was saved from death for a role in season 2: There was a meeting if the minds between him and Mason, and he will become their ally in the fight against Enyo.
Given how the series tends to bump off major characters, not sure what's going to happen to Grant, but I think the major bloodletting is done so I think he'll survive.
Arby/John's role is ambiguous. I'd love to know what they would have done with it.

Back from mah jong and my walk in the rain. It arrived around lunch time. Got first place today with just over 3,000 points.
Stopped at my local library and put a hold on second season of "Miss Scarelet and the Duke", "The Northman" and the first 2 disks to season 1 of "The Brokenwood Mysteries". That is a series from New Zealand. Cop show and it looks interesting from what I can see. Started it last night. Took "Morbuis" back to the library and had no idea Matt Smith from Dr. Who was in it.
Also got some grocery shopping done meaning supper and some ice cream that was still on sale.

All the porch trim is up. I don't have the crown yet, but I'll either get it from somebody else or wait for a sale/clearance. Not paying Biden* prices for specialty wood like that right now.
My buddy came by and dropped off a big tub of spackle he used for his own bathroom DIY project, so there's another $12 saved there. I'm going to spackle tomorrow and maybe start trimming out stuff in my living room while that's drying.

SIX; The warm weather surely helps. I don't function well when it's colder than 60 degrees, so I've got to take the gift that I've been given. It gets cold next week, probably until March or April. Two winters ago I managed to work nearly every day on my kitchen despite the terrible cold weather that year, but then last year was a lot more mild and there were about 3 months there I didn't do anything but watch YouTube and play video games.
Getting a huge backlog of to-do on the DONE list is a great motivator though too. When I first started working on my house again it all seemed so insurmountable. But now that I'm a few years into it and I've been able to cash in some of my favors to get things done I couldn't on my own it's really all coming together.

Yeah... well my mom and my brother are both Bi-Polar. I had an uncle who was OCD really bad and it appears that my youngest brother, despite being "treated" for it at a much earlier age is also going to struggle with it really hard in adulthood.
I'm sure I'm somewhere in that mix myself. The hoarding. The ups and downs in productivity. The addiction tenancies. The ability to eat the same thing every day. The impossible standards I put on other people after I've put them on myself. The quickness to anger.
Fortunately the worst of my addictions are behind me, as well as the hoarding tenancies. I still have a hoard, but it's a digital hoard and for the most part it's extremely well organized and backed up. That is why I have to stay away from "modern" video games made after the early 2000's because I can play a game from the Fallout series and pick up every dented tin can I find and have a locker back home for all of them.
Part of the reason I've chosen the lifestyle that I have is to cope with my deficiencies and not burden anybody else with them. When I'm on point, I'm on point, but I can fall off that horse and have a real hard time getting back up on it.
I'm confident that whoever said "strike while the iron is hot" was Bi-Polar/OCD.

You'll get 'em. Just got to start with one and try to keep on it. Small things are good. They're quick to put on your DONE list and usually part of something larger on your list.
A willingness to be able to bounce around from thing to thing will help you too. I haven't been as hyper focused on one issue this year and that resulted in getting a lot more done before winter than I would have if I refused to work on something else while I was already doing something.

Unlike you, I work better in cold weather. I was never a big fan of summer to begin with, since our bedrooms were stiflimg and too hot to sleep well.
The weather really changed around here. Some nights have gotten to the low 60s and we had early rain, so its been an unusually cool wet fall. Not turned on the heat, yet, but I put extra blankets/ comforters on the beds and am making soups and stews ... no more salad!
Anyway, like I said, thanks for the pep talk. Im gonna get going now!

Back from my walk and it was awful going out but better coming back.
I actually baked off the last six of the mini pre-made tart shells that were in the freezer and now an apple is cooking in a pot on the stove with some water and sugar. Home made apple sauce for the shells.

No worries.
Some solidarity here too... I got about 45 minutes into working on spackle after filing down a few miters and tapping a few brad nails that weren't sunk all the way in and I just didn't feel it. It's our last 70 degree day, but it's muggy and nothing but dark clouds as far as the eye could see. So I took a nap.
At least one of my friends stopped by. I've been holding on to a bunch of scrap metal and even though I couldn't hold on to the old shed door anymore he got the rest of it out of my garage for me.
I dunno. I might be done working on the porch this year. I'm happy with the progress. I might move on to putting up trim in the living room and kitchen while I've got all the tools out and my garage isn't filled up with my car while we still have about a week worth of nice days left.

Out for my walk in a bit in the sunshine. The rain has stopped for now. Lots of areas were worried about flooding last night. Hope it didn't happen.
The wind also hit and my building had a slight power outage. Good thing there is a generator in here as it never went completely out. Light in the kitchen flickered and the HD box on the tv went out for a minute but luckily nothing disasterous.

Sure is. I like it when something unexpected happens even when the expected doesn't.
I spent a few hours helping set up the neighbor's bedroom sets now that the remodel is done and they got the new rugs to go over the flooring. I was able to get the bulk of it done before I had to leave. My aunt and grandma came by finally for the first time since March and they got to see everything that's been done. They raved about the new porch. I told them I'd have a flooring in and some furniture and we'll be able to hang out in there next spring.
It's windy as hell today. The wind is still blowing the right direction so it's blowing everyone else's leaves away from my house instead of right on my doorstep like last year. It also blew off about 90% of my own leaves, so I guess I won't have to blow leaves tomorrow.
Pretty late to start anything right now. I think I'm relaxing the rest of the day.

I decided to primer that bamboo entryway table. Boy... That's a tricky paint job.
Primer is very forgiving. The high-gloss paint will not be. I may need to think about a smaller brush and doing both coats in stages.

Yeah... I actually have some on hand. I didn't want to risk that it's not going to match all of my trim and the mirror that I painted that will be above it.
I actually hadn't finished primering it and didn't know if I would when I wrote the message, but I went back and after another hour it was finished. I'll probably be putting at least another 8 hours into that thing.
But it looks great so far. Got it cleaned up real good and now it's all one color.
I think there are some spots that I'm going to caulk before I paint though. Overall, whoever made it did a good job given the materials, but now that it's more or less a solid white, there are some things that aren't put together as well as I'd like them to be and a little caulk should make those black lines and shadows disappear.
I will show pictures of this when it's done. I still haven't forgotten about getting some other pictures together of some of the other projects I worked on this summer.

My province has voted to get rid of it. The problem now is that we are waiting on Washington state, Oregon and California along with DC to get their acts together so we can do it.
Nobody wants it anymore it is outdated.

Yeah. I posted that it was the first time that the US government did anything that we can all agree on, but it looks like they screwed that up like they always screw everything up.
Your province should just go ahead and do it. This is just one of a million examples of how US has too much indirect control over the ebb and flow of the world. It's like when I argue with people here about how WE caused the world to be stuck in such a high inflationary recession right now with the policies that WE enacted. WE did that. But the other countries themselves are also to blame because where the US lead they all followed.
I don't mind forgetting about it. There have been times I've gone weeks without even realizing the clocks should have been changed.
What I hate is the darkness before 5PM. The days are already short enough as it is.

I finished spackling everything in the porch. It's COLD outside.
Right now I'm going a little caulk crazy on my bamboo entryway table. I probably won't get around to putting any paint on it today while I'm waiting for it all to dry. Even though it's cold out, my furnace isn't going to be turning on today and drying up the air since I've got it set so low.
Tomorrow is a little warmer. I'll (hopefully) sand off all the spackle and caulk everything that needs caulking and then (hopefully) put the final coat of paint on all the trim on wednesday when it's 60+ outside.
I'm kind of regretting planning on having my dad come over on Thursday. Now I'm seeing the high for Thursday is 71 degrees and from there it plummets. Saturday is supposed to only be 35 degrees. Gross.

Oh... and I'm pretty sure I just got my neighbor to vote tomorrow when he probably wasn't. I called and asked him if he was busy and if he could give me a ride up to the polling station tomorrow and he said yeah and that he'd vote too.
I would have walked if I had to, but it will be nice getting the ride.
Called the mechanic and he's got a few calls out to see if he can find the plastic part or if he can find somebody to fabricate what he'd need to get the fuel line fixed. So no ballpark figure on the price of the job yet.
Too bad I don't have a good 3D printer. I probably could have already found the specs and made my own part by now.

Over here we're definitely starting winter early. The weather regime for the past few weeks has been cool. Either bright and sunny or cloudy and damp, but cooler than normal. We had an unexpected 1/2" of rain a little over a week ago and are expecting another 1" between today and tomorrow, so I prepped the yard for rain: brought in the tools, covered the 33 gal trash bins, put down the diverters and set out my "rain gage".
It was damp this AM, I think it must have drizzled last night
I'm not getting my hopes up for a normal rainfall this winter. Our weather patterns seem to come in multi-week blocks, and this pattern can change any time now.
But given the weather, I'll be doing indoor things for the time being.

Well... Not exactly frigid yet or anything. High 50's tomorrow, 60+ on Wednesday and 71 on Thursday. But then it drops and doesn't look like were going to get a warm comeback after that.

It sure does. I've just about run out of time. If I don't sand down the spackle, vacuum and clean it and caulk all of the windows, jambs and casings tomorrow then I won't be able to paint on Wednesday. That just leaves me Thursday morning before my Dad comes over. You're not supposed to paint anything if it's getting under 35 degrees within 24 hours.
I'd better be on point after I vote tomorrow morning, or this is the end of the line until spring.

Well... That's a good mess I've gotten myself into.
I decided to start painting the first coat of high-gloss on the bamboo table. I'm about an hour into it and progress slow.
I'm going to be up a little late tonight. It's looking good though so far. And half of the tricky part is done. Once I get the other half out of the way the rest should be smooth sailing.
I guess this won't be one of my winter projects.

Two hard(est) parts done... and a little bit more.
I'm quite surprised at how much this paint is cooperating with me tonight. I might have accidentally picked the perfect day(s) to work on it. It's rather temperamental and it behaves vastly different in differing levels of heat and humidity. I mean, all paint I've used does to a degree, but this "Ultra" line of Pittsburgh paint when using their High-Gloss finish is the most temperamental I've ever used.
This piece is by far the most intricate thing I've ever painted by hand before, so I'm really appreciating how the paint is behaving when it's about 58 degrees with moderate humidity since the furnace isn't sucking all the humidity out of the air. I also took a hot shower earlier which added a little extra humidity.
I've found that I haven't had to "fight" with it at all when overlapping a part I'd painted just minutes earlier and came back to, in which case I have to kind of load up some extra paint to work it in with the old stuff and then thin it out.
The second coat is usually more temperamental than the first, so hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday night will go as smooth when I put the final coat on, but so far so good. The rest of what I have to do should go pretty quickly now.

Over at this end I was busy sorting mail when the power went out. No particular reason, it wasn't stormy or windy or anything. We must be on an old circuit bc our section (all 1600+ accounts) goes out 3 times a year, but the lights across the street stay on - they're on a newer circuit, I think. And it doesn't take long, relatively speaking, to fix- usually just a couple of hours. So I think it must be an old relay or switch or something simple that they could have replaced any time in the past 20 years, they just haven't.

I'm on what the neighbors refer to as the "old circuit" here myself. When me and the neighbors across the street lose power, most of the rest of the block doesn't. It's probably vice/versa too, but who notices when other people's power is out when yours isn't, right?
It used to be a pretty big problem around here. I remember for years I just didn't bother resetting the times on the clocks because brownouts would just knock 'em out long enough for the blinking 12:00 and no matter how many times I called about it they didn't do anything. I'm thinking one of the times when it went out something busted though and they finally accidentally fixed it because we're good now.
Maybe you get lucky and something really breaks on you so they'll finally fix the problem on your end too. Good luck!

Over here we got about an inch of rain overnight and we're due another rain band some time in the afternoon. The dentist went very smooth. These teeth they pulled today came out with no trouble at all. They took a picture of the roof of my mouth to send to the lab about getting a denture made for me. They even showed me the picture and this is the first time I have ever seen the scar on the roof of my mouth from the dental surgery I had done way back when I was teenager. Also I didn't need any stitches today. So whoo hoo! Still frozen right now but that's to be expected but no pain.
I still have dental stuff to deal with but I will get to it in the New Year.
Got to the Safeway down that area and found some ice cream on sale. Half price and got some coffee too at a decent price.
Think the building codes in BC are pretty good.

Well, here on this end of the west coast, we got more rain than expected. I measured about 1.25" (about 3 cm) at my house, and there were flash flood warnings going off on on everyone's phones (altho tbh we dont really get flash floods here in the flatlands.)
So a good start to the rainy season. Today its cool and sunny.

Back from my walk and it is cold out. Sitting at 5C which is 40F. No frost out and so walking is still good. Remembered my scarf today.

I caulked all of the casings and jambs as well as the baseboard today. Looks great.
I won't be painting this year. I ran out of time. My old man is coming tomorrow and it's the last nice day of the year. That's fine. Unless you're really putting a magnafying glass on the trim you can't even tell that it needs a final coat.
Sometime by the end of the weekend I'm going to put the final coat on the bamboo table and fabricate two cover pieces to rest above the basket woven tops to protect them. I'll make them out of leftover hardboard I have from when I worked on the kitchen. After they're cut to size and the edges are broke and rounded down, I'll paint them with one of my dark grey colors and then put rubber feet on them that I have leftover from the protectors for the kitchen cabinets.
From there I'll either start fabricating a piece of furniture my brother requested or start installing trim in the living room. I'll probably be going to see my bro for the first time in about half a year next week though, so it will have to wait until I get back. No big deal since I probably won't be getting my car back until at least after I come back from my brothers'. Still no word on how much that's even going to cost, let alone how long it will take for the repairs to be made.

We have super hard water around here, and scale builds up everywhere. I fixed daughter's shower head a month or so ago by soaking it in vinegar. Our "rainfall" shower head was leaking out the top, so I took it off and soaked that too, and replaced the filter and washer. Unfortunately it's still leaking out the top, I think from the ball- socket fitting that allows you to adjust the shower head. But at least water is running out of all of the jets now.
We broke down and turned on the heat, since it's hitting 55 tonight. Set the thermostat to 65 bc otherwise the bedrooms get too warm for comfortable sleeping.

My heat is set at 53.
It was 73 today, so I managed to actually get the inside temp up to 70 degrees before closing the windows.
That's the end of the warm days. Mid 30's for the high by the weekend.
Picked up an entire trashcan full of branches and sticks, mostly from my neighbor's tree today. Decided against blowing any leaves since the winds were around 35MPH and the evil sycamore trees across the street haven't fully come down anyway. My tree has been bare for a week already now.
Cleaned up the house after that and my old man came over. He took me up to Menards and I got some primer and caulk and the 4 bats of insulation on sale. Hopefully they're even cheaper around black friday and I can do a trade in for a better price, but if not I'm OK with the price I paid today. I won't be installing it until the spring anyhow.
He told me that the porch is better than he ever imagined it could look.
I'm not going to work on the table tonight. No reason to rush it since all of my work is going to be indoor work for the next 4 months or so. That's a tomorrow project.

Download and install Malwarebytes immediately.

If they offer you the full trial, take it. They won't ask you for any credit card info and after like 15 days you'll just go to their free protection.
Then run a scan on your computer. Full scan if you can figure it out in the menu, but at the very least run a regular scan.
Any "malware icon" showing up that isn't from Windows Defender or an alternative Antivirus program that you installed on your computer yourself is a scam. Do not click on that, don't call any phone numbers that pop up, don't put any personal info into your computer anywhere until you run Malwarebytes.

We were thinkng of things like .. put a pirate's hat and coat on one, with a cutlass between it's teeth, crawling up the front stoop. Or climbing out of a grave. Or one digging another up.

But unlike you and SIX, I actually like (most) Xmas songs. They bring up so many happy memories. When we were little, mom and dad actually put up the Xmas tree when we were alseep. It was a wonder to sneak out in the early AM with my sisters and find the tree, all decorated with gifts underneath, and turn on the tree lights and try and find which presents were for who and guess what they might be without opening them. To this day I remember us getting a giant greenish flop-eared stuffed dog with a tag on it: "My name is Jupiter. Please love me"
And we did. We used to worry that he couldn't sleep bc his eyes were open all the time, so every night we put him to bed by covering his eyes with his ears.
And then there were the carols, in Polish and English. When we were old enough to stay up, midnight mass. The moon high in the sky, shining thru bare tree limbs and making the snow shine. The little baby Jesus in the manger and the star on top of the tree. The parties. Making cookies with mom. Taking our late evening stroll with dad, Christmas lights glowing thru the snow. It was a kind, magical season, where people cared enough to put up lights and make the neighborhood beautiful for others... not the big ostentatious 50,000 bulb displays that you have to pay someone for, just what people put up by themselves.
That kind of Christmas should be in every child's memories. Not the shopping horror that it is now.
