Jan. 6 Firebrand Turns On Trump: ‘Dishonest, Disloyal, Incompetent, Crude’
Rep. Mo Brooks (R-Ala.), a onetime loyalist to Donald Trump who spoke at the infamous Jan. 6 rally that led to the assault on the U.S. Capitol, trashed the former president in a new interview.
“It would be a bad mistake for the Republicans to have Donald Trump as their nominee in 2024,” Brooks told AL.com amid reports Trump will declare his candidacy on Tuesday.

Republicans say they're done with Trump. But Trump definitely isn't done with them. Trump knows that he can still count on around 30% of the GOP electorate to follow him through the gates of hell. The GOP’s gnawing fear? Even if someone like DeSantis could somehow wrest the nomination from Trump, no one imagines that the former president will graciously concede or go quietly into political obscurity. Could he take that 30% with him? Or a big enough chunk to destroy his enemies?
Electoral defeat has focused the GOP’s hivemind wonderfully. Following a twice-impeached one-term ex-president has led Republicans to defeat in three consecutive elections. When Trump was a winner, they were willing to tolerate all manner of depravity. Now he is a political boat anchor, and they are suddenly discovering that their master is an erratic, demented and disloyal man-child.
For years, Trump has taken the measure of his fellow Republicans. He remembers the outrage and opposition he encountered in 2015-16, and how it collapsed. He remembers how he brought the GOP back to heel after Jan. 6.
Trump looks at the Republican universe — pundits, hacks, donors, lobbyists, consultants, elected officials — and says, “These are weak people. I have crushed them in the past. And they will cave to me again.”
Trump is making it clear that he will destroy Ron DeSantis if he has to. “I think if he runs he could hurt himself very badly,” Trump told The Wall Street Journal. “I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody other than perhaps his wife, who is really running his campaign.”
But DeSantis is NOT actually willing to destroy Trump, to see him ruined or even imprisoned. That would cost DeSantis millions of votes. And this is the asymmetry that drives the GOP’s cycle of dysfunction.
Trump can destroy the party whenever he wants. Yet the party can’t destroy him without also risking its own crack-up. So, once again, Trump is playing to the GOP’s darkest fears. His unhinged rants in Mar-a-Lago send the signal that he doesn’t care who he hurts. And he is ready to light his own house on fire if anyone dares to stand in his way.
Trump is already fomenting a bitter civil war in the Senate GOP caucus and may demand a Red Wedding in the House GOP caucus as well.
And there is not much the GOP can do about it. Republicans now know that they cannot win with Trump; but they also know that if he torches everything in sight, they can’t win without him either.
They have trapped themselves in a political prison of their own making.

“We are going to be asking everyone who sells drugs, gets caught selling drugs, to receive the death penalty for their heinous acts,” Trump said Tuesday to cheers from his supporters at Mar-a-Lago.
He’s not even bothering to hide the authoritarian roots of his proposal. Trump explicitly credits President Xi Jinping, the dictatorial leader of China, with giving him the idea.
“In China, when I was with President Xi, I said: ‘President, do you have a drug problem?’” Trump said Tuesday night at Mar-a-Lago, recounting Xi purportedly saying the problem was solved by “quick trials” where “by the end of the day you’re executed.”
“That’s a terrible thing, but they have no drug problem,” Trump said. (It’s worth noting that China actually does have a drug problem.)

Billionaire and GOP megadonor Ronald Lauder won’t help finance Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign for president, his spokesman told CNBC on Wednesday.
Lauder has known Trump since college, and the two have been close for years. Lauder joins Blackstone CEO Steve Schwarzman, Citadel CEO Ken Griffin and wealthy businessman Andy Sabin, who have said they won’t back Trump’s new campaign for president.

Since we're never going to put the shit back in the horse and put an end to covid mail-in fraud ballots in the blue states, it's time for Republicans to start canvassing the streets and ballot harvesting like the Democrats do.
Here in Indiana I only have one vote; one voice. If I spend a week at my Grandma's house in Illinois though, I could have 2,500 votes; 2,500 voices, simply by using Democrat's method of legalizing cheating against them.

By the way, in normal countries that have a Parliament and Prime Minister who is ALWAYS from the majority party, the government never has a President from a different party than the majority in the House of Representatives because there is only one legislative body, not two like in the USA and like in all the crappy countries in Latin America that copied the US Constitution. If you knew South American history, you would know that copying the US Constitution is why there have been so many dictators and revolutions in South America.
The American slave-owners who wrote the US Constitution knew how to prevent Abolitionists from ending slavery by legislation, but they failed to factor into the Constitution that this design to protect slavery would cause a Civil War. (South America has had many Civil Wars because they copied the worst parts of the US Constitution.) The Republicans are taking advantage of the provisions to protect slavery to, nowadays, protect the wealthy, prevent an increase in the minimum wage, protect doctors and hospitals who gouge their patients, protect tax-cheaters, etc.
I love America. It is the greatest country in the world for people who are already rich. It would also be the greatest country for slave-owners but for slavery ending violently. Unfortunately for the slaves, not much changed because the chattel slaves became wage slaves, which is great if you are rich enough to have wage slaves working for you.

Yup. If a guy living in the middle of flyover country who hasn't made any money since June of 2019 could figure this one out, how long did you think it would take the strategists making the big bucks to come around to the same conclusion?
I hope you're happy opening up the floodgates for cheating, now that they're open for everyone.
Who do you think is better at cheating? I mean, the answer to that question that you'd always give under any other circumstance probably has to have you terrified right about now, huh?

Hmmmm... Maybe 2,500 votes; 2,500 voices is far too low a goal for me. I did win a SONY Boombox back in middle school for out-selling every other student in the place with one of the fundraisers, despite the fact that very little of that money came from my family and nobody else helped me sell any of it.
Just door to door knocking every day after school for hours with my eye on the prize.
Yeah. I'd better wrap up my outside work in 2024 early, because I know what I'm going to be doing in October. And Trump doesn't even have to pay me any of that campaign money to do it.

Oh. Just an FYI...
I would never do it, but the double-edged sword of legalizing ballot harvesting is that you can pretend whatever side you want to pretend to be while getting a read on your marks, and then decide after you have their mail-in ballots which ones you're going to put in the ballot box and which ones you put in your fire pit.
Go ahead dipshits. Keep telling me that what you did hasn't opened up the door for all sorts of cheating with no checks and balances in place.
Not only can you amplify the amount of voices and votes you have, but you can actually delete voices an votes from the other side during the process, and nobody is ever going to be able to verify or prove that this happened.
You dumb fucks have been doing EXACTLY this for two elections and you still lost the house and the popular vote by 3.5 Million votes last week.
What do you think happens to Blue States when Trump decides not to throw the money into TV ads and instead mobilizes and funds grassroots campaigns to canvas blue states for ballot harvesting that you made legal for him?
Do you get it now? Is this finally sinking in?
Especially YOU, Ted.

All of that being said I would make a plea to TPTB that in every state, but especially the Blue States that now allow en masse election fraud, you have the ability to log into an account online that allows you to verify that your own personal vote was counted, and have it list exactly who and what you voted for.
This would still allow for your vote to be private information, but it would give you a means of making sure that somebody didn't fuck you.

Trump vs. the CIA
The U.S. Intelligence Community warned us about Trump. We didn't listen.
Greg Olear
Nov 18, 2022
On October 7, 2016—a month before the election—the Department of Homeland Security and the Office of the Director of National Intelligence issued a joint statement on election security. It began:
The U.S. Intelligence Community (USIC) is confident that the Russian Government directed the recent compromises of e-mails from US persons and institutions, including from US political organizations. The recent disclosures of alleged hacked e-mails on sites like DCLeaks.com and WikiLeaks and by the Guccifer 2.0 online persona are consistent with the methods and motivations of Russian-directed efforts. These thefts and disclosures are intended to interfere with the US election process. Such activity is not new to Moscow—the Russians have used similar tactics and techniques across Europe and Eurasia, for example, to influence public opinion there. We believe, based on the scope and sensitivity of these efforts, that only Russia's senior-most officials could have authorized these activities.
It’s hard to overstate how big a deal this was. The Intelligence Community, as a rule, steers clear of involvement in U.S. politics. For the entire USIC and Homeland Security to make such a pronouncement, they had to be absolutely certain that Russia was up to no good. In spook speak, a language of understatement, “we believe” means “we’re pretty much positive.”
And while the press release did not explicitly state which candidate the Kremlin was throwing its weight behind, you don’t have to be a CIA analyst to figure out that Vladimir Putin hated Hillary Clinton and dug Donald Trump. Basically, the USIC—all seventeen agencies—determined that the threat posed by Russia’s fuckery was dire enough that the American people must be warned, even at the risk of the IC appearing “political.”
A hostile foreign power—and not just any hostile foreign power; our #1 adversary for most of the last century—was using its formidable intelligence and hacking capabilities to help its preferred candidate, a jackass the FBI knew damn well was a criminal, win the White House. ( https://gregolear.substack.com/p/tinker-tailor-mobster-trump ) That should have been the main news story for the next month. That press release should have ended his campaign.
It was not. It did not.
Later that same day—October 7, 2016—footage was released of Donald Trump and Access Hollywood host Billy Bush from the mid 2000s, in which the former made a number of lewd, sexist remarks about two of the latter’s comely co-hosts, including the now-infamous “I moved on her like a bitch” and “You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. . . . And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything. Grab ‘em by the pussy. You can do anything.” We all knew Trump was a disgusting pig; here was incontrovertible proof.
October surprises happen. They are not necessarily coordinated. It may have been sheer coincidence that the Access Hollywood tape dropped a few hours after the USIC press release, knocking it off the front page of our collective minds (and the front page of the newspapers, which undersold the enormous importance of the press release). But the timing had the effect, intended or not, of upstaging the five-alarm warning of Kremlin interference.
At the presidential debate two days later, when pressed on the Russian election interference charge, Trump said: “I notice, anytime anything wrong happens, they like to say the Russians are—[Clinton] doesn’t know if it’s the Russians doing the hacking. Maybe there is no hacking. But they always blame Russia. And the reason they blame Russia [is] because they think they’re trying to tarnish me with Russia. I know nothing about Russia.”
This was a word salad of lies. HRC knew Moscow was doing the hacking because the USIC told her—just as it had told Trump. He knew plenty about Russia. He chose to believe Putin rather than the U.S. intelligence ser

Everyone knows Trump hates to lose. When faced with losing, he either claims he was cheated or quits. A year from now, Trump might be far enough behind DeSantis that quitting will be the only way to avoid losing.
Bad numbers getting worse
Trump’s polling has been soft for over a year, with the percentage of Republicans who want him to run consistently falling 20 points or more below his approval ratings. He has found it difficult to score above 50 percent on ballot tests against Republicans who aren’t even running yet.
And those numbers are getting worse.
YouGov polled all voters on a Trump-DeSantis ballot and every demographic preferred DeSantis, except Hispanics who were split evenly. Conservatives favored DeSantis 51 percent to 33 percent, a catastrophe for Trump.

If you took all the other candidates on both polls out of the equation and gave every single point to DeSantis, Trump still wins the Harvard poll by +4 and the Politico is a tie.

When Trump gets that memo what do you think your chances in 2024 are?

You want to cheat, motherfuckers? Suit yourself. I guaranty you that I'm better at it than you are.

I raised the idea of outlawing mail-in voting with a canny friend. “The Dems would never allow it,” he said, comparing the practice to nuclear weapons. Once they exist, it is impossible to get rid of them. Maybe so, in which case it behooves Republicans to become experts in organizing and deploying mail-in voting for their own candidates.
If nothing else, a little competition in the mail-in ballot sweepstakes would counter the invitation to corruption that follows on the feeling that the fix is in. In the election just past, it seemed, despite media forecasts of a red wave, that a certain complacency was abroad in and about the headquarters of certain contentious races. Gretchen Whitmer never seemed particularly worried about Tudor Dixon, nor did John Fetterman seem worried about Dr. Oz. Of course, Fetterman is a special case. But the point is, I believe, they knew that the fix was in and therefore — to employ another common idiom — that the race was in the bag.
Let me break that down for you...

If they want to cheat, let 'em cheat. We're going to cheat better, and we're going to end up taking all the Democrat strongholds away from them co-opting the platform that they championed to allow widespread cheating and never let them cheat better than we will cheat.
We don't allow the cheating in Indiana, but I just might stay overnight at my Grandma's for a few weeks in 2024 and go door to door collecting thousands of ballots from people who would have otherwise been too lazy to vote. That's how they win. We can do it better. And it will all be legal because they made it legal.

You've been warned. Tick Tock.
Pennsylvania Republicans reconsider their war on mail voting
GOP officials in the state are coming to the belief that it’s better to work within the system than politically die by it.
https://www.politico.com/news/2022/12/02/pennsylvania-republican-mail-
voting-00071713
Quote:
“There’s no question in my mind that Republicans have to have a different mail-in strategy,” said Andy Reilly, a Republican National Committeeman in Pennsylvania. “When one party votes for 30 days and one party votes for one, you’re definitely going to lose.”
...
Quote:
But, to a large degree, Republicans in the state seem poised to move forward with mail voting regardless of what Trump says. Many have concluded they can’t win otherwise. Charlie Gerow, the Pennsylvania-based vice chair of the Conservative Political Action Coalition, likened the GOP’s approach to mail-in voting to a basketball player who abstains from shooting from behind the three-point line because he doesn’t like the rule.
“You could play a game that way. And more times than not, you would lose,” he said. “Or you can say, ‘Hey, I don’t like the three-point line. But by gosh, I’m going to be the best three-point shooter you can find.’ And that’s what I think the Republicans have to be now.”
I'll ask the question again...
Who do you think is better at cheating? Democrats or Republicans?

So, with the revelation of MASSIVE & WIDESPREAD FRAUD & DECEPTION in working closely with Big Tech Companies, the DNC, & the Democrat Party, do you throw the Presidential Election Results of 2020 OUT and declare the RIGHTFUL WINNER, or do you have a NEW ELECTION? Easy to say all this now, Ted. He's the only one who announced that he's running and we're two years from an election. Anything the Republicans say about him now is simply damage control on the Election Fraud talk because they figured out that they can use the cheating mechanisms you set up post-covid to cheat better than you can and they don't like that Trump is going to keep that rhetoric in the news cycle for the next two years while they're planning on showing you how to really cheat.
Tough titty for them. Up to half the states aren't even going to hold a primary, and I've yet to see any poll putting anyone close to Trump in a primary, including DeSantis. Not even polls from Politico or Harvard give DeSantis a prayer in the Primary against Trump.
Trump will be fine, and he will be your next President.

Trump finally committed 'political suicide' with his latest 'stupid' comments: conservative
In a column for the highly conservative Hot Air, Republican speechwriter David Strom expressed his disgust at Donald Trump's call for "the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution" because he thinks the 2020 election was stolen from him.
As Strom sees it, the former president -- whom he believes has previously flirted with destroying his political career -- finally committed "political suicide" and will never recover.
Writing, "It’s like a social science experiment with 350 million participants. Researchers are asking: just how batsh!t crazy does a person have to be to lose 95% of their fans? For some reason, Trump has decided to participate as the experimental subject," Strom added, "There are several obvious things about Trump’s statement that are simply politically stupid. Like, really really stupid. Assuming there were no legal or ethical barriers to either calling a new election or suspending the Constitution (stay with me here, I know that is insane!), it is still politically stupid."

When I read the Republican platforms I come to an understanding of why Trump voters struggle so hard while achieving so little in this life. Literally, they have no clue about what they are doing. It is so sad to read about their ill-conceived and insignificant plans for the future. They may have watched Star Trek, but these Republicans can't get there. They are going nowhere. These weaklings can't even maintain what little they have without enormous and exhausting effort. For them, doing more than a tiny increment better would be impossible. So sad watching them. So ridiculous how proud they are of what little they accomplish before they die.

You say that now because you just won.
Hillary Clinton is a lot of things, but she isn't stupid. She's been saying that Republicans are going to cheat and win in 2024 since two months before the 2022 election.
What she didn't tell you was that they're going to cheat using the cheating apparatus that the Democrat party set up for them during Covid. The same cheating apparatus that saw Joe Biden* SHATTER any previous popular vote total for a President in history by over 10 MILLION VOTES, other than Trump's 74.2 Million in the same election which would have been the most popular votes for a President in history. This is because while Republicans all voted on one day, Democrats were canvassing streets and stuffing ballot boxes for at least a month before the election on top of whatever Democrats voted in person at the polling place on Election Day like we used to do before Covid.
In 2020, Democrats made these new rules and funded and organized the vast efforts to exploit those rules, completely fucking obliterating the off-guard Republicans.
In 2022, after two years of Republicans crying about it and powerless to change any of it in blue states and swing states where it was enabled, Democrats spent even more money and time exploiting those new rules while Republicans once again only spent one day voting, doomed to lose once again because of it. (The only exceptions being in parts of New York and California where Republicans DID spend time and money exploiting Democrat's new voting rules and won races they otherwise never would have won). IN OTHER WORDS... THE ONLY REASON THE REPUBLICANS REGAINED CONTROL OF THE HOUSE IN 2022 IS BECAUSE THEY CHEATED IN PARTS OF NEW YORK AND CALIFORNIA USING THE CHEATING APPARATUS DEMOCRATS MADE LEGALLY AVAILABLE TO THEM IN 2020 DURING COVID LOCKDOWNS.
Now that Republican politicians and strategists have acknowledged this and fully plan on embracing and exploiting it rather than trying to close it all back up, I don't want to hear you whining about it when it doesn't go your way, Ted.
You were warned.

I'm not pedaling any conspiracy theory here.
Watch what happens in 2024 now that Republicans are embracing the unsolicited mail-in fraud ballots that your party enacted during Covid. As long as Haken keeps the lights on, I'm looking forward to you crying about Republicans cheating with ballot harvesting once they do it better than you do.

Donald Trump is running against himself — and losing.
He has held no campaign rallies and hired no campaign manager. He has hosted a QAnon conspiracy theorist and helped raise money for the indicted insurrectionists of January 6th. More classified items have been found in his possession, and his Trump Organization was convicted in New York of a major tax-fraud scheme.
He has scared away neither prospective opponents nor prosecutors, and, while openly courting extremists, he seems to be running on a campaign platform that is even more nakedly driven by self-interest than his previous two bids.
He suggested jettisoning the Constitution so he could be reinstated to the office he was thrown out of by the voters in 2020. “A Massive Fraud of this type and magnitude allows for the termination of all rules, regulations, and articles, even those found in the Constitution,” he wrote in a post on his social network, Truth Social.
The fact that he actually put his objections to the Constitution in writing is a classically Trumpian flourish — one that will likely be used against him in a court of law.

All true and so much more SECOND, and just as obvious is how stupid Jack is. He is a full-fledged member of the gang that could not shoot straight. The destroyer of the rule of law and take away all my freedoms and rights gang.

'It couldn’t be going any worse': Trump skipping rallies as his 2024 campaign launch flops
In an analysis on how things are going for Donald Trump since his overly-hyped 2024 presidential campaign launch at Mar-a-Lago weeks ago, Guardian political analyst David Smith claims the former president has lost the "sizzle" that made him such a hot property in 2016 as he skips the type of political rallies in front of supporters that have kept him in the eyes of voters.

MAGA fans fume at Trump over digital trading cards stunt: 'He can't win in '24'
Former President Donald Trump this week teased a "major announcement" that turned out to be a set of digital trading cards that depict him as a variety of American male icons.
If the former president believed that this move would sit well with his base, however, he appears to have been mistaken.
Reaction to the "major announcement" from many longtime MAGA Twitter users ranged from mild disappointment to outright anger that he got them hyped up for major news only to instead sell them $99 NFTs.

Trumps supporters get to get a good look at how Trump thinks they see him. They get to see how he sees them, as suckers.
They are also climbing onto the Ron Desantis wagon. He is catering to their hate and simplistic view of complex issues just as Trump does. He too thinks they are idiots. Want some evidence?

If they want to cheat, let 'em cheat. We're going to cheat better, and we're going to end up taking all the Democrat strongholds away from them co-opting the platform that they championed to allow widespread cheating and never let them cheat better than we will cheat.
We don't allow the cheating in Indiana, but I just might stay overnight at my Grandma's for a few weeks in 2024 and go door to door collecting thousands of ballots from people who would have otherwise been too lazy to vote. Republicans headed for a slow motion 'disaster' that could leave them stuck with Trump in 2024
"Why does Trumpworld want a crowded field? Something like 30 percent of Republican voters, by some estimates, are 'ride or die' with Trump (in a recent USA TODAY/Suffolk University Poll, Trump garnered 33 percent of the vote in a head-to-head with DeSantis). This suggests that Trump would likely lose in a head-to-head matchup with a single MAGA adjacent candidate. But the bigger the field, the more likely Trump’s 30+ percent is to put him over the top as everyone else collects the scraps," he wrote.
He then added, "It’s easy to imagine a scenario where DeSantis, Haley, Glenn Youngkin, Tim Scott, Asa Hutchinson, Mike Pompeo, Liz Cheney, Larry Hogan, Kristi Noem, and Josh Hawley (just to name a few) all run. This could splinter the non-Trump vote and guarantee that The Donald wins with a plurality."
"Once again, Republicans face a collective action problem. They would all be better off heeding my advice, but individual interests discourage it. Absent a party boss who can force cooperation, we are left with this question: Will those Republicans who now understand how dangerous another Trump term would be for America put the country first?" he wrote before warning, "If potential candidates really love this country, they need to consider sitting this one out — or getting out of the way early — to prevent disaster. Otherwise, we all get rolled."

These Doomed Candidates Could Help Trump Survive a Primary TRAIN WRECK
Running for president and losing might seem harmless. This time is different.
There’s a famous scene in Austin Powers, where Mike Myers runs over a security guard with a steamroller. What makes this horrific act funny is that the steamroller looks to be going about 2 mph, and the security guard (who is at least 30 feet away) just stands there yelling “STOP!” for what feels like 10 seconds before he is, inevitably, squashed.
I thought of this scene recently when contemplating the nascent 2024 Republican presidential primary. Everyone can see Trump, who is a disaster, lumbering in slow motion. The key to avoiding the fiasco he represents — for the country and for the GOP — is both simple and obvious.
Keep the field small. Get the hell out of the way.
This dynamic is no secret to Trump or his team, according to the Washington Examiner. “More than a half dozen Trumpworld advisers, former administration officials, and campaign operatives told the Washington Examiner that support for [Ron] DeSantis will slowly erode as more Republicans declare for 2024.”
One member of Trumpworld even went so far as to tell The Examiner, “Basically, we’re praying Nikki Haley runs.”

The GOP's first bill exposes the lie of right-wing populism
After a bruising battle over the speakership, House Republicans kicked off their legislative agenda on Monday. It was a farce.
The GOP’s first policy bill would defund President Joe Biden’s efforts to help the Internal Revenue Service crack down on tax cheats. It’s a bill that’s predicated on disinformation, whose only real constituency is wealthy people who don’t want to pay their fair share. And it underscores how the Republican Party’s so-called populism isn’t about empowering the working class — it’s about exploiting them.

Want Moore? Be Careful What You Wish For
In fact, looking at the states where the greatest opportunity for increasing Democratic representation in the House of Representatives are, they reside in the highly populous states of California, New York, and Michigan, which together now have 29 Republican seats. Highly populated Republican states such as Texas and Florida have already been through major redistricting with major Republican advantages in how the districts were drawn. There simply is not much opportunity left there to create much more Republican partisan advantage.

Ok, the republicans are trying to use the Supreme Court to give states more power when it comes to how it handles elections and re-districting. Realize, the republican friendly states currently, and should they get what they want, offer very little opportunity for democratic growth.
However, three democratic states alone have 29 or so republican districts that the democrats can gerrymander out of existence if the republicans win. Districts in NY, California and Michigan. If the court gives the republicans what they want, it would be like the dog catching the car.
Too funny…

Reminder: 81% of white evangelicals voted for a man who can’t name a single bible verse, cheats on all of his wives with porn stars, stole money intended for kids with cancer, and mocked the disabled.
How religion changed the presidency—and vice versa
Evangelical Christians are abandoning their core beliefs to follow a cult leader, says Reza Aslan.
Eighty-one percent of white evangelicals voted for Donald Trump in the previous election. That’s a record. That’s more white evangelicals than voted for George W. Bush—and George W. Bush was a white evangelical.
This makes no sense to people, especially when you consider that Trump is not just the most irreligious president in modern history, that his entire worldview makes a mockery of core Christian values like humility and empathy and care for the poor; That this individual who couldn’t even name a single verse in the bible when asked to do so, and yet - and yet - received a record number of votes by white evangelicals.
Scholars of religion—normal, rational, people—have been trying to figure out why. Why? What happened?
And I think that there are a couple of things to keep in mind.
Number one, it’s white evangelicals. Eighty-one percent of white evangelicals voted for Trump, but 67 percent of evangelicals of color supported Hillary Clinton.
Now, these are people who believed the exact same thing, whose only real difference is that.. is the color of their skin.
So let’s not ignore the fact that there is a racial element to this support.
Jim Wallace, the head of the Sojourners, a liberal evangelical group, said it best when he said that these white evangelicals “acted more white than they did evangelical.” And I think he’s right.
The second reason I think has to do with the pernicious influence of something called the prosperity gospel, which has gripped the imaginations of white evangelicals.
This is that version of Christianity preached by charlatans like Joel Olstein and T.D. Jakes, the essential gist of which is that God wants you to drive a Bentley, that what Jesus really wants for you is material prosperity—and indeed that’s how you know God has blessed you, is by your material prosperity.
Many white evangelicals looked at Donald Trump, and what they saw was a wealthy man. And that wealth, as far as they were concerned, was just a sign of God’s blessings.
And so that freed Trump from having to do what every other candidate, certainly every other Republican candidate for president has had to do, and that is: actually prove his spiritual bonafides. Trump never had to do that. All he had to do was just keep talking about how rich he was. And for a large swathe of white evangelicals that was enough.
Thirdly, Donald Trump did something that no other president, not even any Republican president courting the evangelical vote ever did. He expressly promised secular power to these white evangelical groups.
In his speeches to them and in the conferences that he had, both private and public, he very clearly and very explicitly said that if they voted for him that he would give them “their power back,” even if he didn’t agree with their pet causes that he would just allow them to have those causes.
And you can see as president he’s talking now about removing, for instance, the Johnson Amendment, which is an amendment that prohibits preachers and churches from actually engaging directly in politics and preaching politics from the pulpit. It’s why they get to keep their tax break. No one has ever thought about removing this requirement until Donald Trump.
And now he is very seriously moving towards allowing churches to take part directly in political activism as churches.
But none of this, none of this explains the most important phenomenon about white evangelicals in America, and that is this: In the span of a single election cycle, white evangelicals have gone from being the gro

Donald Trump ordered to pay Hillary Clinton $172,000
Several months ago Donald Trump lost his bizarre lawsuit against an array of his worst imagined enemies. On Thursday his enemies had their say:
A Florida-based federal judge has ordered nearly $1 million in sanctions against Donald Trump and his attorney Alina Habba, calling the former president a “mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process.”...In the new order, Hillary Clinton got the biggest award of fees for a single defendant: almost $172,000.
Losing the lawsuit is bad enough. Getting fined a million bucks is bad enough. But having a huge chunk of the fine go directly to Hillary Clinton? Priceless.
POSTSCRIPT: Today Trump dropped his lawsuit against New York Attorney General Letitia James. Coincidence? I doubt it.

Donald Trump Rules the GOP For a Simple Reason
The GOP must finally come to grips with the fact that, yes, Donald Trump has taken over and transformed the Republican Party, and it is his policies that dominate what the voters in the party want.
And that makes sense, as it was Donald Trump who won over what I would call Reagan Democrats and millions of others who felt the America of the last twenty years had left them behind.
Many in the GOP want to try and go back in time, try to bring back somehow the boring pro-business, social security slashing, low-taxes, interventionist version of the GOP – make it look like a populist message – but the simple fact is Republican voters want the populism Donald Trump is selling them.
There are no two ways about it.
In effect, Donald Trump is not only the face of today’s GOP – Donald Trump is the GOP for the simple fact that the GOP still refuses to digest his message and learn the lessons of 2016.
As one top Donald Trump 2016 staffer told me just recently: “Do you want to know why Donald Trump – despite all of his mistakes and classless comments and drama – still dominates the GOP? The answer is easy to see: no one in the GOP has fully taken his vision of the party – based on populism and made it their own. Until there is a clear alternative to Trump, Trump rules. Sure, some in the party take a policy position here and there that mirrors Trump. But has anyone really gone full populist like Trump? I would argue no.”
How The GOP Can Move On: Populism Is the Answer
How would one take over the GOP from Trump and beat Trump in 2024? So what would that look like?
Well, you would need a Republican that would 100% embrace:
-non-interventionist foreign policy ideas and would be willing to call out allies in, say, Europe who won’t pay for their own defenses while we arm Ukraine to the teeth
-making China the top national security threat and spending the money and shifting the resources away from other parts of the world to make that happen
-embracing reciprocal trade deals and not blanket free trade
-refusing to cut Medicare and Medicaid
-making illegal immigration a top priority and working to ensure migrant flows are slashed. And yes, that means tariffs if trade partners cheat on deals
-battling the fentanyl crisis that is ruining America
-working to ensure America’s cities are not giant homeless encampments and open drug-use areas
-being pro-law enforcement and making no compromises on that
-being willing to wage a war on wokeness ideology
-and, finally, embracing a tough, no-nonsense, no-BS attitude when it comes to messaging to GOP voters. They clearly don’t want Mr. nice guy or gal. They want someone they feel is bold and to stand up for them.
These are the reasons that Donald Trump is the Republican Party today and why I think he would be very hard to beat in 2024. The only way I see someone coming along and doing that is they have to embrace the vision of the GOP Trump offers GOP voters. Until that happens, Donald Trump is the king of the GOP. Like it or not.
I know what you are going to say: What about that Florida governor everyone is nuts over?
While some argue Ron DeSantis is the person to take Trumpism over from Trump, we still don’t know enough of his preferred policy ideas to get a sense of what he offers the GOP as the man in the Oval Office. He could very well make the populist base happy, but I would argue the jury is still out on that. But I think we are going to find out.

Catch up quick: DeSantis suspended Warren, a Democrat, in 2022 after accusing him of "incompetence and willful defiance as early as June 2021."
The Republican governor said Warren wasn’t doing his duty by signing a pledge to avoid pressing charges against those who receive abortions or their doctors, as well as families who seek treatment for transgender minors, Axios’ Selene San Felice writes.
Warren then sued DeSantis to get his job back, claiming that DeSantis violated the First Amendment.
This was the ruling of a hyper-partisan judge and is not a legitimate verdict.
That will be thrown right out in an appeal and he will lose his job.
Warren has the right to freedom of speech and to tell the whole world that he doesn't agree with his job duties, but to say that he will refuse to do his job duties is a dereliction of duty and grounds for being fired.
And, you should really read the fucking articles you post instead of just the headlines, because the bottom of the article echos what I just said...
Quote:
Yes, but: Hinkle said federal law does not allow the elected prosecutor Warren to immediately return to office despite the violations.
“The Eleventh Amendment prohibits a federal court from awarding declaratory or injunctive relief of the kind at issue against a state official based only on a violation of state law,” the judge ruled.
Warren’s suspension will stand and he will have to plead his case before the Florida Senate, which will have final say on his potential return to office, NBC News reports.
And when that time comes, he will lose his job for not doing his job.
You are a fucking idiot, Ted.

'Not president anymore': Haberman says Trump insiders stunned they can't get Republicans to 'show up for him'
Donald Trump is headed to Columbia, South Carolina this week to jump-start his 2024 presidential bid and, with reports that it is off to a rough start, the New York Times Maggie Haberman appeared on CNN to report that his close advisers are taken aback by how bad things are going.
Over the weekend, the Washington Post reported that Trump's close allies were working the phones trying to round up attendees in South Carolina and finding no takers.

Sure. lol
It's 2 years away from an election. Nobody cares, and quite frankly, with the economy the way that it is now everybody is exhausted.
Let me know how Trump's rallies are going 1 year from now and we'll compare to the middle of January 2023.
What a stupid article, written by stupid people.

Trump’s killing spree: The inside story of his race to execute every prisoner he could
Published on Jan 27, 2023
By 9:27 p.m. Bernard was dead. In that moment, he became the ninth of 13 people executed in the final six months of the Trump administration — more federal executions than in the previous 10 administrations combined. Of the 13, six were put to death after Trump lost the election, his Justice Department accelerating the schedule to ensure they would die before the incoming administration could intercede. Before Trump, there had been only three federal executions since 1963; in January 2021, Trump oversaw three executions during a single four-day stretch.
The only reason the administration stopped at 13, Barr says, is that they ran out of time.
Should he be the GOP’s candidate for 2024 and ascend to the White House again, Trump will surely pick up where he left off with federal executions.

Retired conservative Judge J. Michael Luttig helped stop Trump on Jan. 6. He wants to finish the job
His obsessively precise written opinions for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 4th Circuit in Richmond had marked Luttig as one of the leading conservative intellectuals in the legal system — the most conservative judge on the most conservative court in America.
More than a quarter-century later, it was Luttig (pronounced LEW-tig) who would get a late-night call to come to the aid of his tribe: Mike Pence, in his final days as vice president, would seek out Luttig’s legal advice on the night of Jan. 4, 2021, as Donald Trump pressured him to help overturn the results of the 2020 election. But Pence and his allies would need more from Luttig than his private counsel.
They needed his imprimatur.
What began as a late-night phone call has turned into the quest of a lifetime for Luttig, the pinnacle of a long and storied career, highlighted last summer by his stirring appearance before the congressional panel investigating the Jan. 6 uprising at the U.S. Capitol and by the committee’s final report released in late December, which mentions his name more than 25 times.
“Donald Trump and his supporters and allies are a clear and present danger to American democracy,” Luttig told the committee on live television.
But Luttig wasn’t just condemning Trump and Trumpism. He was trying to bring a nation to its senses.
“We Americans no longer agree on what is right or wrong, what is to be valued and what is not, what is acceptable behavior and not, and what is and is not tolerable discourse in civilized society,” he said. “America is adrift.”
Months removed from that star turn, Luttig’s worries have begun to ebb ever so slightly. He now envisions a nation one day disentangled from Trump’s influence, even as the former president launches a new campaign. It’s a future Luttig is trying to shape in court cases, in legislative chambers where he’s helped craft election law changes and in professorial public appearances where he explains in painstaking detail how American democracy, though imperiled, can still be preserved. . . .
His 7-tweet thread, posted early on Jan. 5, offered Pence both legal and political cover.
https://twitter.com/judgeluttig/status/1346469787329646592
Luttig explained — as if speaking to first-year civics students — that, no, the vice president couldn’t just change the vote total. And, no, refusing to do so didn’t mean he was disloyal to the president.

In his recent book "Thank You for Your Servitude", my colleague Mark Leibovich quoted a former Republican representative who bluntly summarized his party’s plan for dealing with Trump: “We’re just waiting for him to die.” As it turns out, this is not an uncommon sentiment. In my conversations with Republicans, I heard repeatedly that the least disruptive path to getting rid of Trump, grim as it sounds, might be to wait for his expiration.
Ha! Good luck with that. Consider this:
• Donald Trump has a Filet-O-Fish–centered diet, exercises only by playing golf, and employs some of the least trustworthy-seeming doctors to have ever been associated with the medical profession.
• He did not take the threat of COVID seriously at all and actually got COVID himself just before the last election.
• He’s 76 years old.
• He nonetheless recovered fully from COVID and has had no known health problems since. He looks fine. (He looks less frail than the Democrats’ likely 2024 nominee, for one.)
Have you ever seen Velveeta go bad? No, because it’s not real food. The same is true of Donald Trump and being a human.

RNC Urges Candidates to Double Down on the Thing That Made Them Lose in November
It's a bold plan.
In the wake of a disappointing midterm election cycle for the GOP, which analysts and exit polls attributed in large part to widespread public dissatisfaction with the party’s efforts to criminalize abortion, the Republican National Committee is urging party members to … er, redouble their efforts to criminalize abortion.
A resolution passed on Friday at the winter meeting of the RNC exhorts GOP lawmakers to “pass the strongest pro-life legislation possible”—essentially, to double down on one of the least popular parts of the party’s platform. The document suggests that six-week abortion bans, such as the one that took effect in Georgia after the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, are one example of the types of laws Republican legislators should pursue, but it implies something much stricter: The “strongest possible” anti-abortion legislation would be a total abortion ban. The resolution also makes an oblique comparison between abortion and human enslavement, noting that the party’s original 1856 platform “rejected ‘the twin relics of barbarism,’ polygamy and slavery.”
Abortion, the document states, is one of “the new relics of barbarism the Democratic Party represents.”
The resolution goes on to criticize Republicans who, in the lead-up to the 2022 midterms, strove to attract moderate voters by keeping quiet on the topic of abortion or walking back their extreme stances. In the parlance of the document, these candidates “failed to remind Americans of our proud heritage of challenging … the forces eroding the family and the sanctity of human life.”
As a strategic move, this all very unwise. But what’s the Republican Party to do? It has spent the past several decades rallying its base by claiming abortion is literally murder—the RNC would look like a bunch of chumps if they backed down now that the dog has caught the proverbial car.
