An arrest warrant has been issued for Prigozhin. I posted before, I think the guy lost his marbles. He might whip up some of his Wagner forces, but he apparently doesn't have widespread support.
Oh, BTW, Moscow is not "burning".

This is the most comprehensive article I've found so far:
Quote:This was supposed to be a march of Wagner forces on ...Moscow?... thru Rostov on Don, if I understand correctly. Not any sort of spontaneous uprising.
The owner of the Wagner private military group has accused Russia of bombing his camps in Ukraine — and is facing arrest on mutiny charges after urging an armed rebellion to oust the country’s defense minister in retaliation.
Yevgeny Prigozhin posted a series of video and audio recordings online in which he claimed Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu launched a rocket strike against his camp, killing “a huge number” of soldiers who were fighting on Russia’s behalf in its war against Ukraine.
Earlier on Friday, he accused Shoigu of leading Russia into war under false pretenses, the Wall Street Journal reported, as the months-long war of words between the two edges on open conflict.
Prigozhin said his mercenaries would now punish Shoigu in an armed rebellion and urged the army not to offer resistance.
“The evil that the military leadership of the country brings forward must be stopped. They have forgotten the word ‘justice,’ and we will return it,” Prigozhin said in an audio recording posted on Wagner’s social media Friday, according to the Journal.
“Anyone attempting resistance will be considered a threat and immediately destroyed. This includes all the checkpoints on our path and any aircraft above our heads.”
The Ministry of Defense in Moscow has denied his claims about the attack. The National Anti-Terrorism Committee, which is part of the Federal Security Services, or FSB, has opened a criminal investigation into Prigozhin on charges of inciting an armed rebellion, state media reported.
Russian generals accused the outspoken Prigozhin of attempting to mount an armed coup against President Vladimir Putin, according to the New York Times.
Russia deployed armored vehicles into the streets of Moscow and the southern city of Rostov-on-Don, near the Ukrainian front lines in the area where Prigozhin’s troops were deployed in response, the Times reported. There have been no reports of any fighting in the streets.
Quote:
“This is not a military coup, but a march of justice,” Prigozhin declared.
The state news agency Tass said Putin is aware of the situation.
The FSB urged Wagner’s soldiers to arrest Prigozhin on mutiny charges and refuse to follow his “criminal and treacherous orders.” It called his statements a “stab in the back to Russian troops” and said they amounted to fomenting an armed conflict in Russia.
Russia’s chief prosecutor said the criminal investigation was justified and that an armed rebellion charge carries a penalty of up to 20 years in prison.
Since Russia launched its war in Ukraine 16 months ago, Wagner’s forces have been among the most successful even as Russia’s invasion has largely been stalled by Ukraine’s defense forces, backed by Western allies.
Wagner troops successfully took the city of Bakhmut, where some of the most grueling and bloodiest fighting of the war took place. It was the only advance made by Russia last year.
Prigozhin has been critical of Russia’s military brass since it was hired to fight, accusing leaders of incompetence and of starving his troops of weapons and ammunition. His feud with Shoigu dates back years.
His words on Friday, however, were a more direct challenge.
The Russian Defense Ministry required all military contractors to sign contracts with it before July 1, but Prigozhin refused to comply.
Prigozhin said in a statement Friday he was willing to find a compromise with the Defense Ministry, but “they have treacherously cheated us.”
“Today they carried out a rocket strike on our rear camps, and a huge number of our comrades got killed,” he said.
Prigozhin claimed that Shoigu went to the Russian military headquarters in the southern city of Rostov-on-Don personally to direct the strike on Wagner and then “cowardly” fled.
“This scum will be stopped,” he said, in reference to Shoigu. [/q

German satirical news site 'Der Postillon' is really having a field day (just like Prigozhin)
Russia submits emergency application for NATO membership
Moscow (dpo) - This step comes as a surprise: Russia's President Vladimir Putin has just submitted an emergency application for admission to the NATO military alliance. His country was spontaneously interested in joining as soon as possible.
"I've always found this principle great, that NATO countries help each other if a NATO country is suddenly attacked, for example by a mercenary force gone mad," said Putin when signing the application. "Alliance case. Great thing. We want to be there."
Furthermore, Putin appealed to the NATO countries. "We ask for a quick and unbureaucratic admission within the next twelve hours. FAST, FAST, FAST!!!"
Otherwise it might already be too late.

It's not an uprising or a civil war or even a coup, since Prigozhin was going after shoigu, not the whole Russian government. it's being called a mutiny.
I've suspected for a while that Prigozhin was off his rocker. the one thing that Russia is being very cagey about is ... how many Wagner fighters are following him? if it's a hudred, no big deal. if it's 20,000 ... well, they're hardened urban warfare specialists.

Apparently this was all about a contract that wasn't renewed...
Quote:
As Was Expected...
... the dawning of reality is in progress for the criminal and his group of accomplices that the game is up.
Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko announced on Saturday that he had arranged a deal whereby Wagner Group leader Evgeny Prigozhin will abandon his mutiny in exchange for “security guarantees” for his fighters. “Evgeny Prigozhin accepted the proposal of President Alexander Lukashenko to stop the movement of armed men of Wagner in Russia and take further steps to de-escalate tension,” read a statement from Lukashenko's office. According to the statement, Lukashenko and Prigozhin held talks for the “whole day,” and “came to an agreement on the inadmissibility of unleashing a bloodbath on the territory of Russia.”
Wagner returns to its camps near Bakhmut and Soledar and the procedures of disarming and dismantling start from there. Naturally, all camps will be blocked by military. After that FSB and Investigative Committee will start work. Prigozhin, most likely, will try to escape to 404 [Ukraine] where his contacts, both GUR and MI6, are but I doubt anyone will let him. Now, what was the last straw for Prigozhin? Simple--MoD refused to extend contract with Wagner. And as I stated not for once--the real history of Bakhmut is not what you read in shitty TG channels and most media.

Yevgeny Prigozhin left the southern Russian city of Rostov-on-Don late Saturday to a rapturous reception that resembled the departure of a rockstar, with crowds of men gathering around his car.
The extraordinary scenes underlined some of the broader support Prigozhin appears to enjoy among sections of the Russian population, despite Vladimir Putin calling him a traitor whom he vowed to “liquidate”.
One video showed residents in the city cheering as Prigozhin’s car stopped when one person approached. The smiling warlord, flanked by a convoy of armoured vehicles, then proceeded to shake the man’s hand.
In an abrupt about-face, Prigozhin said on Saturday evening that he had called off his troops’ march on Moscow and ordered them to move out of Rostov after reaching a deal with the Kremlin.
Earlier in the day, Prigozhin’s troops had occupied key buildings in Rostov without meeting any tangible resistance. Some residents told the Guardian that they welcomed the warlord’s arrival.
“Finally, we can welcome them home,” said Evgeny, 36, a supporter of the war who has been among those crowdfunding and ferrying goods into occupied Ukraine. “I hope he wins.”
In stark contrast, hours after Wagner troops left the city, some locals appeared to be angrily greeting the police force that took their place, shouting “traitors” and “shame!” at them.
“Putin is afraid of Prigozhin, ordinary people are clearly not,” said Andrei Kolesnikov, a senior fellow at the Carnegie Russia Eurasia Center, based in Moscow. Kolesnikov said the events in Rostov indicated that Prigozhin’s populist, anti-elite persona who speaks truth to power had clearly resonated with many Russians unhappy with the foundering invasion. “There is a real interest in Prigozhin and his fighters,” he said.
It was remarkable that some residents in Rostov-on-Don were openly showing their sympathies for Prigozhin in a political climate where even the slightest forms of dissent can lead to long prison sentences, he said. “The nation longs for a change. To some, Prigozhin is a valuable alternative to Putin.”

Russian forces are in the process of creating a nuclear meltdown according to Ukrainian intelligence, with the plan currently underway. At that point, your skepticism should have kicked in. Apparently you haven't been keeping track of Kiev's record on honesty, either. It makes a much sense as Russia bombing its own pipelines when they could have simply shut off the tap and Russia destroying its own dam when they could have simply opened the floodgates.
Kiev, CIA, NATO, and our bipartisan Senate warhawks are priming you for a false flag.

Nuclear Falseflag on Zaporozhye NPP Heats Up + Major Wagner Updates and More
A completely coordinated campaign over the last few days has affirmed this. Not only was Budanov’s maiden speech after reappearing from his Kalibrated cranial trepanation centered on Russia’s alleged ‘mining of the ZNPP’ basement, but now several new instances of highly coordinated messaging have been released by Ukraine and its Western controllers.
In fact, since that video from days ago, he’s released a new, even more urgently threatening message...
“The 4th and 6th power units of the Zaporozhye NPP were mined by Russia,” – Kyrylo Budanov "The situation has never been as serious as it is now.
The plan of the terrorist attack at the ZNPP has been fully developed and approved. To accelerate the catastrophe, they can use technical means," Budanov stated
Now, Zelensky has made two separate videos where he plainly states that Russia is preparing a massive terrorist attack at the ZNPP plant “just like they did at the Kakhovka dam”. He goes on to sternly warn the world and charge them with the responsibility to act with utmost severity in response to this upcoming Russian attack. He specifically invokes the threat of radiation crossing the borders into other NATO countries for obvious effect.
And a day later, in coordinated fashion, Lindsay Graham threatened Russia with massive NATO retaliation should Russia use any type of “nuclear” aggravation

It’s not clear why Putin “blinked,” making concessions to Prigozhin after vowing revenge on the mercenary leader.
After Belarus’ leader mediated, Putin agreed to allow his former protegee to escape to Belarus.
Commentator and author David Ignatius said that the speed with which Putin backed down suggests that his sense of vulnerability might be higher than most people realized. “Putin might have saved his regime on Saturday, but this day will be remembered as part of the unravelling of Russia as a great power — which will be Putin’s true legacy,” he wrote.
https://www.dailychatter.com/2023/06/27/pugachevshchina/
Could you imagine a US Marine Corp General shooting down at least six US Army helicopters and a plane then Biden allowing the Marine General to escape into Canada? It would be the end of Biden. The equivalent happened with Putin and Russian helicopters and a plane.

“It’s just a fighting unit that will do anything that Putin says,” he adds.
It is a charge the Kremlin denies. In June, Putin said of military contractors in Syria: “These people risk their lives and by and large this is also a contribution in fighting terrorism … but this is not the Russian state, not the Russian army.”
But analysts say it’s inconceivable that Wagner would exist without Putin’s approval. Indeed, its training camp in Molkino in southern Russia is attached to a Russian special forces base, guarded by regular soldiers who do not welcome visitors.

‘Don’t see why not’: China envoy on backing Ukraine’s ’91 borders
Brussels, Belgium – China’s envoy to the European Union has suggested that Beijing could back Ukraine’s aims of reclaiming its 1991 territorial integrity, which includes Crimea – the peninsula annexed by Russia in 2014.
In a recent interview with Al Jazeera and two other media outlets, when Fu Cong was asked about supporting Kyiv’s goals, which includes reclaiming other Ukrainian regions now occupied by Russia, the senior Chinese diplomat said: “I don’t see why not.
https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/don-t-see-why-not-china-envoy-on-
backing-ukraine-s-91-borders/ar-AA1d6iMn?ocid=msedgntp&cvid=9ef6218572184fbf926859cbef20a8ef&ei=33
Of course he did. There is little sense behind pretending any longer they have Russia's back. Not after they've seen Putin can't even control his own. The diplomat knows China is going to reclaim Siberia. Hell, they have already said as much. So, backing Putins' annexing another countries land won't fly. They want others to agree Siberia was annexed from them. Giving them full rights to take it back.
Poor Putin. He's about to lose more land and resources than he tried to annex from Ukraine. Signym, this shits just too funny.

Been busy so I haven't devoted much time to this, but spent some time puzzling over the source of this mutiny, its resolution, and what it all means for Russia.
I think the ultimate cause was the reliance of the Russian government on PMCs like Wagner. There are a number of constitutional and political restraints on Russia sending troops to fight foreign wars in Africa, the Mideast, and so forth. While the Russian air force was extremely active in Syria, the bulk of Russia's (fairly small) ground forces were PMCs, with a few official trainers, advisors, and intel thrown in.
The other aspect is that Putin has two sources for his support: a normalized economy and a sharp nationalist bent. However, these can be contradictory and they appeal to two that don't overlap much. He is also extremely risk averse.
Altho he's been known to take swift and decisive action (recently in Kazakhstan and earlier in Chechnya) most often he takes a squishy approach. For example, he could without a doubt bomb all American positions in Syria and clip Israel's nose over Syria... but he doesn't. He still does a dance with Erdogan. He started the SMO softly softly, so it's hard to know when he's going to go full-on Grozny on someone and when he's going to just wind things down.
The one thing I can't square is his calling Prigozhin a traitor and the next day just send him into exile. He's had to explain that recently so I think he's taken some criticism for not dealing with Prigozhin harshly. I'm still trying to figure out the about-face.
One more thing: Apparently orders came down from on high not to interfere with Prigozhin. So border guards, police, the military itself were all told to stand down. The only death was an IL-something observational plane that was shot down by Prigozhin's splinter forces with a Pantsir. They weren't supposed to have Pantsirs so Russian internal security is delving into that.
All Russian officials and semi-officials, even ones critical of the Russian military and how the SMO is being conducted (they want a more aggressive approach) were forced to choose and came down on Putin's side.
No doubt FSB is looking into anyone who may have supported the mutiny. The way to keep this from happening again is to eliminate Wagner, which is being incorporated into the Russian military by accepting Wagner forces. Prigozhin himself and his band of Merrie Men could be contracted to fight in Africa.

Since playback isn't working ATM..
Prigozhin,as it turns out, had been in jail for armed robber - choking and beating a woman on the street along with somebody else, and robbing her of everything including her boots.
He was a self-promoting businessman who had lucrative contracts supplying food to schools and the Russian military, as well as being part-owner of Wagner. Apparently his orders were to stay on the outskirts of Bakhmut and engage Ukrainian the periphery. But he decided to take Bakhmut, which meant that many of his fighters were killed and the Russian MoD had to divert troops to protect his flanks, planes, artillery and tanks to keep Wagner from getting slaughtered. As a result of breaking orders his contracts were being eliminated, and that's when he went ballistic.
The bad blood between him a the Russian MoD goes back to Syria, when he and a local Syrian warlord decided to cross the line of contact that Russia and USA had decided on, in order to grab some oilfields. When USA asked Russia "are those your guys?" Russuyof course said "no", so USA bombed them and Wagner lost appx a dozen men.

THAT TIME US FORCES TORE HUNDREDS OF RUSSIAN WAGNER GROUP MERCENARIES TO PIECES IN SYRIA
Against that backdrop, Russia and the US opened up a communications hotline to avoid direct conflict with each other while supporting their proxies on opposite sides. In February 2018, after three years of gingerly avoiding a direct confrontation, the two world powers went toe to toe for the first time since the end of World War I in what came to be known as the Battle of Khasham — a roughly four-hour battle in which the mighty Russian bear (with its Syrian allies) was reduced to a whimpering pup by a much smaller force of American commandos.
As the afternoon sun began to sink over the cradle of civilization on Feb. 7, 2018, a group of US Marines and Army Special Forces soldiers watched surveillance drone feeds in disbelief as a large enemy force amassed 20 miles away near the eastern bank of the Euphrates River. The combined group of Syrian forces and Russian mercenaries from the infamous Kremlin-linked Wagner Group swelled to an estimated 500 troops by early evening. With them were 27 vehicles — including Russian T-72 tanks and armored personnel carriers.
American brass monitoring the situation at the air operations center at Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar and the Pentagon were baffled as they watched a massive enemy force positioning itself to attack a nearby outpost where about 30 US Army Rangers and Delta Force commandos from the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) were working alongside Kurdish and Arab forces. American commanders readied aircraft and ground crews, and the members of the JSOC detachment prepared to defend themselves.
The Marines and Green Berets at the mission support site 20 miles away from the JSOC outpost in Deir al-Zour in northwestern Syria prepared a quick-reaction force of about 16 troops, loading four mine-resistant vehicles with anti-tank missiles, thermal optics, food, and water.
At 8:30 p.m., as three Russian tanks moved in closer, it became clear an attack was imminent, and the quick-reaction force prepared to launch.
Fighting from their vehicles, the Green Berets and Marines engaged the rapidly diminishing enemy force. Several Marines ran much-needed ammo to the commandos’ defensive positions while combat controllers guided a second wave of lethal strikes from American aircraft. An hour after the QRF’s arrival, the remnants of the attacking force fled the field. In their wake lay between 200 and 300 dead fighters. Inside the JSOC outpost, one allied Syrian fighter was wounded, and no Americans were harmed.
n the aftermath of the slaughter, Russian state media downplayed the battle. Maria Zakharova, press secretary for the Foreign Ministry of Russia, said only five Russian contractors were killed. Reports of audio recordings purportedly featuring Russians describing the battle tell a muc

The War in Ukraine is a disaster for both sides, Ukraine has some slight wins of late and I try to be objective and I see in reports At Least 100,000 Dead on Both sides maybe even more Russians dead. Ukraine has taken back some land but it is mostly a meat grinder.
The event has made Putin look chaotic and weaker, you also had the possibility of foreigners, islamics, the Merc type over-running Russian bases with Bio Chemical and other WMD weapons.
Some predicted Russia would fall with sanctions that was under estimating Russia's ability, some others said Ukraine would fall in four days once the line of Tanks were outside the Ukraine Capital. It's possible Putin might ride this out as other dictators have done, Russia part II is collapsing politically again just as the USSR Union of Soviets Collapsed.
Wagner might be convicts, gangsters, thugs, ex-convicts and guns for hire but they are well equipped, they knocked out a Russian aircraft, were bale to invade the South West flank of Russia, they shot helicopters out of the sky and after Bakhmut they are now battle hardened. Putin might look weaker but in the end Russian dictator tyrant culture has a chaos element and is unpredictable, the Mutiny could in the long run even Increase Putin’s Longevity.

Putin Narrowly Escapes Assassination Attempt as Russian Secret Service Thwarts Moscow Bridge Explosion
The Kremlin leader grew increasingly paranoid about being assassinated. The 70-year-old's greatest fear manifested into reality on Friday.
According to the Kremlin's security agency, Federal Protection Service (FSO) members thwarted a plan to kill Putin. The failed assassination attempt allegedly centered on an unnamed bridge that Putin and his motorcade were expected to travel over.

Putin Cannibalizes the Russian Economy to Survive Personally
Amidst such undisguised plundering of the Russian economy, stripping it down for war toys, it is perhaps no surprise that Prigozhin’s failed putsch this past weekend revealed no lost love for Putin domestically from the Russian populace and elites. After all, not only did military leaders and civilians alike passively wave columns of Wagnerites through checkpoint after checkpoint on the road from Rostov to Moscow without a shred of resistance; even Putin’s own regional governors were lethargic in their response, and even now, a whopping 21 of them have yet to express any support for Putin. Ironically, the only group of Russians who rushed to Putin’s defense with any genuine enthusiasm prior to Belarusian President Lukashenko’s diplomatic intervention were brigades of Chechens who sped to Moscow and Rostov, led by Putin’s longtime ally and newly-minted selfie-pal Ramzan Kadyrov.
Historian Daniel Goldhagen’s 1996 book Hitler’s Willing Executioners reminds us that the evil of the Third Reich triumphed through the complicity of average Germans through their complacency. We now see Russians’ willing complacency with the murderous autocratic Putin.

Introduction
Reconceiving Central Aspects Of The Holocaust
Captain Wolfgang Hoffmann was a zealous executioner of Jews. As the commander of one of the three companies of Police Battalion 101, he and his fellow officers led their men, who were not SS men but ordinary Germans, in the deportation and gruesome slaughter in Poland of tens of thousands of Jewish men, women, and children. Yet this same man, in the midst of his genocidal activities, once stridently disobeyed a superior order that he deemed morally objectionable.
The order commanded that members of his company sign a declaration that had been sent to them. Hoffmann began his written refusal by saying that upon reading it, he had thought that an error had been made, "because it appeared to me a piece of impertinence to demand of a decent German soldier to sign a declaration in which he obligates himself not to steal, not to plunder, and not to buy without paying...." He continued by describing how unnecessary such a demand was, since his men, of proper ideological conviction, were fully aware that such activities were punishable offenses. He also pronounced to his superiors his judgment of his men's character and actions, including, presumably, their slaughtering of Jews. He wrote that his men's adherence to German norms of morality and conduct "derives from their own free will and is not caused by a craving for advantages or fear of punishment." Hoffmann then declared defiantly: ''As an officer I regret, however, that I must set my view against that of the battalion commander and am not able to carry out the order, since I feel injured in my sense of honor. I must decline to sign a general declaration."1
Hoffmann's letter is astonishing and instructive for a number of reasons. Here is an officer who had already led his men in the genocidal slaughter of tens of thousands of Jews, yet who deemed it an effrontery that anyone might suppose that he and his men would steal food from Poles! The genocidal killer's honor was wounded, and wounded doubly, for he was both a soldier and a German. His conception of the obligations that Germans owed the "subhuman" Poles must have been immeasurably greater than those owed Jews. Hoffmann also understood his parent institution to be so tolerant that he was willing to refuse a direct order and even to record his brazen insubordination in writing. His judgment of his men—a judgment based, no doubt, on the compass of their activities, including their genocidal ones—was that they acted not out of fear of punishment, but with willing assent; the

Xi Jinping's Schadenfreude Over the Mutiny Against Putin
Craig Singleton
In war, more things often go wrong than right. If that inconvenient truth was somehow lost on Chinese leader Xi Jinping more than 16 months into Russia’s planned two-day takeover of Ukraine, then last weekend’s rebellion and march toward Moscow by the Wagner Group surely set him straight. Indeed, while Xi often champions the ostensible novelty of the Chinese system, deep down he fears that China is afflicted by the very same ideological ills that once plagued the Soviet Union—and continue to curse its Russian remnants.
Chief among these ills, according to Xi himself, are “political corruption, ideological heresy, and military disloyalty,” all of which were on full display during last weekend’s Russian rumble.
Moscow’s short-lived mutiny, led by a wealthy, well-armed former member of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s innermost circle, represents the sum of Xi’s greatest fears about China’s post-Deng Xiaoping political framework. No doubt, Putin is Xi’s “best, most intimate friend.” But Xi has hardly been shy about criticizing Putin’s perverse preference for power sharing, whereby the Russian leader lets competing factions vie to keep each other in check. If nothing else, last weekend’s dramatic events re-affirmed Xi’s intense distrust of any form of pluralism—even within a country’s power elite—and will likely lead him to pursue ever more radical policies aimed at making the world less safe for democracy.
Generally speaking, Xi and Putin agree on most everything, with one major exception: the reason for the Soviet Union’s demise. In Xi’s estimation, the Soviet Communist Party’s rule did not collapse as a result of any specific external pressure, nor because of the structural fragility inherent in the Soviet Union’s state-directed economy. Instead, Xi asserts the “great Soviet socialist nation fell to pieces,” seemingly overnight, because its “ideals and beliefs [were] shaken.” Putin, meanwhile, has long argued economics, not ideology, led to a collapse in the Soviet Union’s social sphere. The elite infighting that followed, Putin posits, gave rise to long-term consequences in the political sphere and, eventually, the Soviet Union’s self-destruction.
Based on these differing diagnoses, Xi and Putin have pursued wildly divergent strongman strategies—the former relying on purges and purposeful political discipline, the latter on graft and growing his coterie of cronies, a group that until recently included Wagner chief Yevgeny Prigozhin. If the failed rebellion is any indication, Xi’s initial ideological instincts were right all along.
No doubt, the seeds of Prigozhin’s short-lived mutiny were sown the moment Putin foolishly embraced paramilitaries as foreign-policy force multipliers. But the veneer of competence and control long synonymous with Putin’s 20-plus years in power truly began to crumble last month, when explosive-laden drones penetrated Russian air defenses and struck several apartment buildings in Moscow. In that moment, the Kremlin’s misadventures in Ukraine became too serious for the Russian power elite—the siloviki, such as Prigozhin—to ignore.
Now, Putin’s problems are Xi’s, too. For if the Soviet Union could implode so suddenly and unexpectedly, Xi surely realizes the same fate could befall Beijing’s junior partner.
Beijing’s near-term challenge is compounded by its limited, almost myopic, insight into Russian decision-making. That extends to accurately assessing whether long-simmering resentment and recriminations over Putin’s failed attempts to subjugate Ukraine might lead other disgruntled elites to exploit Russia’s current power vacuum. Even worse for Beijing is the begrudging realization that it is merely a bystander in Putin’s Ukraine power play—incapable of either helping Moscow win the war outright or effecting a diplomatic solution that ensures Putin, and by extension Xi, can save some much-needed face. Indeed, with prominent Chinese theorists speculating that time may no long

Russia-Ukraine War: Prigozhin's Failed Coup Was a Blessing in Disguise
By Christopher Clary, an assistant professor of political science at SUNY Albany, and Joshua Shifrinson, an associate professor at the University of Maryland School of Public Policy.
July 10, 2023, 2:52 PM
When the Wagner Group’s rebellion against the Kremlin unraveled, many commentators welcomed the prospect of Russian unrest and potential regime change as a way of complicating Russia’s war in Ukraine. In reality, however, the United States likely dodged a bullet when this uprising failed to topple Russian President Vladimir Putin. Though a weakened Russia might struggle to sustain its operations in Ukraine, political turmoil in a nuclear-armed state has historically given Washington good cause for hand-wringing, sparking fears about the stability and security of foreign nuclear arsenals. And even though Russia takes considerable steps to secure that arsenal in peacetime, the sheer size of its nuclear weapon and fissile material stockpile leaves it open to major risks. The Wagner Group crisis may be in the rear-view mirror for now, but as Washington contemplates future challenges to Putin’s authority, it ought to tread carefully. Russian political turmoil might be good for Ukraine today but awful for other U.S. priorities in the near and distant future.
Political instability in nuclear-armed states is more common than one might think. Of the 10 states that have developed a nuclear weapon, seven—France, China, the Soviet Union, South Africa, North Korea, Pakistan, and India—have experienced serious political turmoil in the form of coups or coup attempts, regime changes, civil wars, or other forms of widespread domestic instability. Lest anyone in Washington be too quick to judge others, the recent record of political stability in the United States is far from exemplary.
Domestic instability in nuclear states tends to scare foreign governments—and for good reason. In the nuclear age, no one wants ambiguity over who has authority over decisions to use or deploy nuclear weapons. Most states have announced publicly who has this authority in peacetime and crisis conditions, but domestic instability can render these procedures irrelevant, leading insiders and outsiders to fear the worst.
The canonical example is the Soviet Union. As Soviet political authority imploded in the early 1990s, punctuated by the August 1991 coup attempt against President Mikhail Gorbachev, there were pervasive fears that Soviet nuclear command and control procedures would unravel in chaotic fashion and undermine the U.S. ability to assess Soviet nuclear behavior. Following the collapse of the Soviet state in December 1991, Soviet nuclear weapons and material were scattered across four newly independent states—Russia, Kazakhstan, Belarus, and Ukraine—leaving U.S. policymakers scrambling to make sense of nuclear decision-making in a fluid security environment and to develop diplomatic, military, and economic tools to minimize the risk of crises.
Even when events threaten to topple an adversary, foreign-policy makers tend to worry that a replacement might be even worse than the leader or regime they know. For example, despite having started the Korean War in 1950 and fighting against the United States, when North Korean leader Kim Il Sung died in 1994, many U.S. officials feared his successor, Kim Jong Il, would be worse. William Perry, then the U.S. deputy defense secretary, went so far as to argue that before the elder Kim’s death, a primary goal of U.S. policy was to prevent North Korea from developing a nuclear arsenal in case a power transition turned violent. “This is a government which has clearly failed and in my opinion is going to collapse sometime in the next few years,” Perry said in 1993. “Our concern is, if it goes out with a cataclysm, we don’t want it to be a cataclysm with nuclear weapons.”
Equally disconcerting is the risk

True, I do like the idea of the Russian military rotting. That said, I would point out that if it’s true you live here, and if by some chance your love for Russia and hate for the United States, allowed for America to become more like the authoritarian state, Russia, then your children’s children will have to live there. I wonder if they will remember you fondly for wanting that and preaching that should be Americas' future? It's my guess they would not.

Funny is right. You hide here and play ignorant to the Plight of Putin and Russia. I post updates and you avoid them like the plague. No matter, facts are facts. It's not important how your ignorance plays out here. The world knows better.
Putin used to control the army and the FSB. Now the FSB controls the army. And, Ukraine has in one week, taken over three hundred miles of Russian territory.
This war was to be won and done in 72 hours. After all, Ukraine was up against, as you have told us so often, superhuman Russia.
Oops...

In your "Kamala for President" thread, I've asked you repeatedly to explain why Kamala should be President. You still haven't made a cogent argument. All you can do is name-call and blather about Trump.
Apparently, you're completely unfamiliar with the process of "thinking"!

Here's an anti-Ukraine truth:
Since Kiev's army can't hit militarily relevant targets in Russia, they aim their drones at apartment buildings and grocery stores.

A difficult number to believe of civilians have died in Ukraine. Untold amounts of civilian infrastructure have been bombed, because of being targeted. Only the end of the war will allow for those numbers to be fully realized.
Also, it's possible those structures in Russia were military in nature. Maybe military offices or housing. We'll find out, I'm sure.
You're sick to post this after blowing off all the times Ukrainian hospitals and schools have been targeted by Russia. That said, get used to it.

the West seems to be burning more than Moscow, despite idiot Putin's efforts to get friendly with those jihadi Mosque types
despite the blunder and foolish meat grinder of Ukraine
Paris burned and much of France burned as islamics riot, jails attacked
did we forget the George Floyd Antifa BLM riots?
London riots, fighting and looting and burning across much of England
and on the East front in Ukraine lots of shooting, missiles and burning
but Moscow not so much

You're right, THGR. I don't waste my time on your posts, bc your "sources" are junk. "Moscow" Times? "Kiev says"? Peter Zeihan? Really?
BTW are you even American? The reason why I ask is bc you really keyed on RUSI and not 1:100,000 Americans know what RUSI is. In fact, I doubt most British civilians know what it is. I only know bc I listen to a British channel.
Are you UK military?

The exact opposite, actually.
We know, from many, many, many years of experience that anything you post is bullshit. Whether it was bullshit out of the gates or proven to be bullshit with time, makes no matter.
Ignoring you and others like you is the sane path in 2025. It always was, but only now is everybody else finally figuring that out.
You are finished. The world you thought you were living in 6 months ago is dead.
Either jump off a cliff and die along with it or grow the fuck up and stop being a monster spending all his time trying to bully other people online and ruin everyone else's day because you have no idea how to be happy yourself.
You are a fake ass bitch with the personality of a wet noodle who has no clue how to cope now that he can't use his media manufactured sense of morality and emotional blackmail as a cudgel to beat everyone else over the head with every day for his quick and cheap daily dose of dopamine and serotonin. You will have to find new ways to support your drug habit. Hopefully they're more constructive and less abusive than what you had going for you here before that well went bone dry on you. None of that works anymore. And it never will again. At least not in your or my lifetime it won't.
Everybody sees right through you now. You're invisible now and you've no secrets to conceal.
How does it feel?
Tell me, Ted... How does it feel?
