Hello Gunrunners -

Just a quick note. I am NOT taking over River full time, please. However she did need to be moved at this time and I had a good River line I wanted to use.

We COULD take turns moving her around until such time as we have an AcKtor for her ... just to keep her in play as it were.

Any thoughts?

Time for an update and some information.

We have a new River who will be joining us soon. In the mean time, for the rest of this week I will continue to puppet her to keep River in play. Changeover will be accomplished as soon as possible.

Merz' last post has been edited to allow Maro's player to speak the line in his OWN words, at my request. This was necessary and has now been accomplished.

WASH/Decoy. Go ahead and answer Brink's question please. An exposition of how the pilot sees the dynamic between the other people will be fun and instructive, and I for one would like to see it finished.

I thought you were leading me this direction because you DO remember that the 'Simon is Niska' reveal by Slight isn't supposed to happen till the Vacation micro. So I took your lead and had the comm/wave interruption be specatacular.

In Slight's original death he was hit by a EMP and you never corrected us. When did you change this to a uber-weakness?

Actually Slight's original death was a combo - chemical & vironites in the Niska/Simon psudeo-ciggys {hee hee, you'll see}, EMP, a caved in chest and THEN further radiation from the exposed engine core. Quite a concentrated attack on ole Brink Helsing!

In Addition: Wasn't Slight not supposed to remember who he was? Sorta like "John Doe" : has all this info...

(remembers the Bule Sun 'plots', but not his place in them or that he{Slight) IS the Blue Son)

...and abilties, but doesn't know who he or what he is. He was supposed to discover 'himself' in his travels with Malachi on the way to New Hokkaido. OR something in that vein.

OK, I checked the Character Bios and all the emails we shot back and forth concerning Slight and his story arc and psyology etc - no mention of a uber-weakness to EMP. Kenw you though the EMP was a cool way to deal with the nanites, but I never realized that Slight would 'shrivel up' and do a complete burn-out.

OH, did Slight 'feel' his father's death? Had an idea about a AtlasBLUE protocol the DeepRED would institute if the signal indicating that Father Helsing died ... but hey, I am just a swishin' at any random thoughts and arcs ...

Okay, in the EMP thing-shoulda mentioned. But as far as the severe problems he now faces (oh, the pain), the nanytes in sarcophagus mode were protection-barely. This time, he doesn't even have a full armor set. Hence, the problems. Oh- also, if I track down KalenVor, I need to talk to him about the meetin. Not exactly an AB, but I had an idea. more tricks in the box, no worries. As far as the no-knowledge, I was frankly gonna have Slight wimp out, and tell em-"Uh, I need to talk to you in person. Where you gonna be?"
And have that sort of "why am I guilty" flashbacks.

As for the rest, he remembers, but only a little. The memory cascades are filling in blanks as we go. I should be playing with that a little more, I know.

What did you think of the post by DragonFlyDirector {me - CapnRahn, o-course} concerning Slight - I tried to make it as interesting to you and the others as possible.

OH! On the NemeSane {translation: Sanity's Ultimate Enemy} thingy - it was to give you room to make Brink quite bit different than the regular Nemisis class. You had told me of the level of {... what, Insanity? PowerMadness what ever it was...} of Brink's father. So I concluded that First Power (Deceased} Helsing would have put in a failsafe in his own child. I have a few ideas, but did not want to set them up in depth without consulting further with you. So gimme an email if your interested in seeing the further depths of my insanity about background details of the ATLASblue and FP Helsing's NEED to be in control!

I hope it was a good direction for your character and a interesting 'techno-post' to boot.

School started on Monday, and I was in an online course until I realized not only was American Liturature insanely intense, but I didn't actually need it for my degree. So I'll be in Copyright law in about six weeks here instead.

Computer seems to be running fine... now just waiting for the other hard drive to fall...

Was cold here for a while... dropped down to 27deg... We almost lost it, because we ran out of hot chocolate... luckaly I was able to put the top up on the car, and go to the store, before they closed the roads. It was a close one, with the 1/4 inch of ice on the strawberrys... sometimes it gets close to the roads.

Only one critique: The statement from Wash that River is reacting to: That was actually a playback from Serenity's computer, while they're figuring out what happened to the signal, so the rest of the crew wouldn't have heard it - only those on the bridge, where the playback was occurring. One way to play this could be that River's picking up the reverb of everyone else's reaction to hearing it again...

You know, funny thing about the chocolate - Rowan took it intending to give it to Damon... then she conveniently forgot! I think there's a Freudian thing mixed up in there somewhere.

And I hate to say this, but it may behoove us to consider maybe taking a little hiatus.

Astriana is on the injured list. From personal experience, I know it's going to take her a few weeks to get so that computers are comfortable again.

Capn's computer - also on the injured list, not to mention he's been unwell for some time and able to come out and play.

Inaraesque is in the midst of moving - we all know what that can do to a schedule.

SJ is in that special level of hell known as overtime - reserved for the hopelessly talented or occupationally devoted. Been there too - fella's lucky he can recall his own name.

Me? Well, time is and will be an issue as long as I'm in school. But I have noticed everyone's writing freqency is down.

I'm just saying it might be good to take another break. We did it once before and everyone came back fired up. It's just a suggestion, that's all.

I love you all and I am more afraid than I care to admit to lose you and what we are building together. But it's supposed to be fun!

I offer this:

Three months or so. Take a vacation from this mental exercise and deal with the real world. Sort our heads and keep our characters and their lives on the back burner as needed. Come back here rested and refreshed June 1, 2005, and take up where we left off.

I agree to this, reluctantly but with love.

But Gunrunners, do me a favor ... talk to me if you see me online and are inclined. Don't diss Decoy because he takes the best possible care of me. However I am alone here ... without you and until I move I am alone. And with that I do not deal well.

I am accepting of this idea. I wonder if perhaps we should go at it with a "time is going to pass in the rp" attitude... and so we should agree to let certain things happen, unwritten. Perhaps we can pick up (in June) at an agreed-upon "rp" point-in-time, or we can pick up right where we left off. We are very good at details, and so the story takes us a long time to tell. We're like Ents. Anyhow, lets hear from some other viewpoints.

As much as I'd like to go "noooo, we caaaan't" and whine like a petulant child(e), this sounds like a rather wise idea. I've got school, the bellydancing community is dragging me in, and Renaissance Faire season is starting. Add my inability to say 'no' to other projects, and I'm losing some decent sleep here. All my fault of course, but it's a disservice to try and wedge RP'ing between all that.

Not that being insane is necessarily a disqualification to write for River. *laugh*

So, reluctantly, I think it a wise idea, but not at the cost of losing touch with everyone. Y'all are too much fun; I'm not letting go so easily.

And if the Cap'n is still having computer troubles of a hardware kind, we might have to chat. I'm probably upgrading my system, and will have some of the (still working) parts from this beast when I'm done.

Yes there is something a bit Entish here, but I am patient and love the story we are making, slow, steady and well, neat.

Personal opinion is I am content to take it up where we leave off - possibly start a new thread with a 'where were we' and go from there. It may be that we can have a full 'past history' transcript done by then for anyone who wants one.

My two cents. And see me, I'm hardly whining at all ...

COMP STATUS
New P4 3.2G comp is back so this P3 800 can get it's fanny bashed back into shape. I just got to move a bunch of drenn - both physically and digitally.

HEALTH
Found out why my immune system has gone haywire - I have crossed the diabetes border - but not TOO far. My Doc believes that the pancreas stimulation med should do the trick - as long as I lose weight - which I GAINED 25 lbs from being a tad invalid due to my hip STILL being bunged up from the accident last Aug.

On the vehicular accident note - Astriana: Are you doing any better after your bang-up?

OK - me tired now ... going to back up the current ACT and OOC threads and will keep in touch via FFFn threads, emails, IMs etc ...

Why don't we use the miniseries discussion thread or make a GunRunners hiatus thread to post thoughts, ideas and to keep in touch?

Three months should do, I think. I couldn't remember how long the break was last time - I may be blocking it because I know I'll miss you all fiercely.

Maniac's idea does have some merit - and might make coming back easier if we had a fresh canvas. However, it could also open us up to a whole plethora of Flashback sequences, and for my own part, I think I've done more than my fair share of those as it is. So I'm thinking we pick up from where we are now.

Rowan and Merz will still have that game - no worries bao bei.
