Given the lengthy delays in former President Donald J. Trump’s criminal trial for federal election subversion, it’s time for the Department of Justice to face facts: Special counsel Jack Smith will likely have only one chance before the November election to tell the public the story of Jan. 6, 2021, and Trump’s role in it. That opportunity will occur not in front of a jury of ordinary citizens, but before the nine justices of the Supreme Court on April 25, when they consider whether Trump is absolutely immune from prosecution for his efforts to remain in the office American voters had decided he must surrender.
Smith is in possession of the fullest story of the events culminating in Jan. 6: a rich and vivid catalog of witness testimony, documents, texts, and emails that even the House committee that investigated the insurrection has never seen or heard. He is ready to display that material before a federal jury in a public trial. But through a series of procedural filings, Trump has managed to move the locus of the case from a trial judge’s courtroom in the District of Columbia to the Supreme Court of the United States.
The court now stands as the sole arbiter of the calendar in the case of United States v. Trump. That’s not because a majority of the justices are likely to rule that Trump is immune from prosecution—that outcome is too far-fetched for even the most cynical observers. It’s because the court, with its gradual process of briefing, argument, deliberation and ruling, even on an expedited basis, completely controls whether a trial and verdict can happen before the inauguration of whoever stands on the Capitol steps in January 2025.
Smith, of course, has a duty to prevail in the Supreme Court on his plainly correct legal argument that Trump is not immune. But as a special prosecutor in one of the most consequential criminal matters in American history, Smith also has a duty to inform the public—especially if the immunity appeal becomes his sole chance to do so in a court of law before voters cast their ballots in November.
Disclosing evidence that Smith is prepared to present will not prejudice the case. Trump is entitled, as a matter of law, to have access to witness statements and other evidence prior to trial anyway. Indeed, if Trump’s social media activity in his other court proceedings is any indication, he will relish the opportunity to spin potential testimony and influence potential witnesses. But such a risk to the prosecution is substantially outweighed by the public’s need to know what happened in the waning days of the Trump administration.
Given this duty, and the degree of media attention that will be concentrated on this Supreme Court, it is important that Smith take the opportunity to inform the public about the facts the government is prepared to prove at trial.
This means that Smith should resist the rarefied practice of SCOTUS advocacy and high constitutional theory. He must not allow the justices to draw him into epicycles of arcane hypotheticals: What if a president did this? What if a president did that?
This case is not about a hypothetical president or speculative misconduct. This is a case about President Donald J. Trump. It is a case about his attempt to retain power, about his schemes to thwart the will of the people. It is about Trump’s effort to undermine the basic American principle—honored for more than two centuries—that the loser of a free and fair election must peacefully transfer power to the winner. Briefs have been filed before the high court, and on April 25 the people will be listening. At every opportunity—in its opening remarks, in its answer to questions, in its entire presentation of the case before the justices—Smith’s team must tell the court and the public the most specific and vivid story it can about what Trump did.
Donald J. Trump wants to make every public event about him. By all means: Let the Supreme Court case United States v. Trump be about him, his knowledge, and his actions leading to the attack on the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. And le

H.L. Mencken, that nasty old cynic, famously wrote that “for every complex problem there is a solution that is simple, clear, and wrong.” Simple and clear. That’s what most people want — which is why every marketer knows that simple and clear sells, whether you’re selling toothpaste or public policies or politicians. Simple and clear may not work, mind you. It may deliver disaster. But it definitely sells. Donald Trump has repeatedly said the war in Ukraine is so simple and clear he could settle it “in a day” and a large portion of the American population does not take that statement to be the grotesque hubris of a delusional narcissistic conman. They hear confidence and they find it reassuring. Because they are not fascinated by complexity. They are frightened by it. And they want someone to sweep it away — which Trump does at every rally.

On this day in 2020, Joe Biden* was leading Trump by 6.3 points and in 2016 Hilary Clinton was leading Trump by 10.6 points in the same aggregate.
Hillary lost that one, and Joe Biden came in 3 points less than what the polls said on the day of the election.
That's also just polls on the Popular Vote, which are almost meaningless. Joe Biden* is going to get an additional 5 Million votes over Trump in California alone and another 1.5 Million over Trump in both New York and California, but they won't translate to any extra Electoral Votes.
Trump is still up an average of 2.8 points in all 7 swing states and leads in 6 of them, with Joe Biden* only being up 0.1 points on Trump in Pennsylvania. In a 5-way race, that number is even worse for Joe Biden* in the swing states.

Trump tells wealthy donors he wants to extend his 2017 tax cuts. Here’s why they’d benefit the most
Wealthy donors forked over a record $50.5 million at a recent fundraising dinner for former President Donald Trump, but they could also reap big benefits if he returns to the White House.
At the dinner, hosted by billionaire investor John Paulson, Trump told the crowd that one of his core issues for a second term would be extending the sweeping tax cuts that congressional Republicans approved in 2017. While the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act reduced taxes for most Americans, the rich benefited far more than others.
The speech outlined yet another divide between Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, and President Joe Biden, who is campaigning on raising taxes on the wealthy to fund his social and other priorities while protecting those who earn less than $400,000 a year from tax hikes. Biden’s campaign wasted little time attacking Trump for “promising tax giveaways to billionaire donors.”
“Now, Trump is making it clear to his billionaire buddies that he’ll take his first chance to double down on tax giveaways for the ultra-wealthy – all while he fights to rip away Americans’ health care, gut Social Security and Medicare, and raise costs on working families.”

And the worst part about it is that it isn't "Biden" doing it. He's a meat puppet.
It's been a joint effort by our Democrat and Republican "representatives" for three or four decades now. The only difference back then is that both parties used to use language that would be deemed to harsh today when referring to them. Now one side will call you a Nazi for telling the truth about the problem and the other side pretends to be to scared to do anything about it anymore. The NeoCon part that wanted it too, at least.
It turns out that people have agency beyond what the Government believes are nothing more than statistics. Yup... Even minorities.
As it would turn out, 2nd and 3rd generation Mexican Americans don't much like the idea of a bunch of freeloaders taking their tax dollars and setting up shop here for free without following any of the rules any more than any reasonable white folk who didn't get their brain full of disease by going to college in the last 40 years.
And low-income black areas are getting their schools and freebies taken away to give to illegal foreigners in big cities isn't going down well at all either. It's going to be hard for Biden* to sell that once every 4 year lie that he and Democrats give a shit about these black communities when they're struggling to pay the bills under Bidenflation.
The Biden* Administration says a lot of "nice" things. The entire Leftist run media conglomerate is going to Orwell you into believing a bunch of lies about the economy and everything else under the sun if you're dumb enough to believe them. But the only people that believe anything that's said in those papers and on those shows anymore is college "educated" white people who have a bit more income than most other folk.
This is going to be a very interesting election cycle.

"Nobody can lead this place": House GOP erupts over “dysfunction” after hardliners kill vote
House Republicans' internal tensions reignited on Wednesday after a group of right-wing hardliners blocked a key federal surveillance bill from coming to a vote.
Why it matters: It marks more than a half-dozen times this Congress that Republicans' right flank ran the party's legislative agenda aground by revolting on a standard party-line procedural vote.

Joe Biden Gets Poll Boost in Key Swing State
Nikki Haley voters in North Carolina could hand President Biden victory in the state in November's presidential election, a new poll indicates.
More than half of people in the Tar Heel state who voted for the former U.N. ambassador in the Republican presidential primary told pollsters that they would vote for Biden over former President Donald Trump in a matchup. Also, also...
The Quinnepiac University poll didn't actually poll Republican voters. It polled people who voted for Nikki Haley.
And we already know that a large party of Haley's money spending was appealing to Democrats to vote for her against Trump in open primaries and even switch party affiliation before the primary to vote for her against Trump.
NC parties decide before an election if they will allow unaffiliated voters to vote in their primaries. It was decided this year that they could do so. We don't know the amount of Democrat voters who usually skip primaries and were unaffiliated until this year voted against Trump in 2024. We also don't know how many switched party affiliation up to 25 days before election so they could vote against Trump in the primary either.

There's a lot of nuance to polling that you are either not intelligent enough to wrap your head around and/or you're far too lazy to investigate yourself for to give any meaningful analysis about polling and what it means.

And it's handled no different than it was last election cycle, so I fail to understand your point here.
Look at the graphs of the collective aggregates of all 3 cycles together and you'll see they behave very similarly as far as time and relative losses and gains by the players go, even if the numbers were quite a bit more in Democrats' favor the last two election cycles.
The truth is, under the same system of weighted averages used in the last election cycle it looks as though Trump is quite a bit ahead of Joe Biden* any way that you look at it right now. And history tells us that both previous candidates of Trump had a much greater supposed advantage on Trump than they do today. And we also know that the advantages stated for Democrats over the last two election cycles via the polls were incorrectly in favor of the Democrat candidate. The differences to the polls and reality were not inconsequential.
There is no Democrat advantage here in 2024 by any metric. For the first time in at least 8 years and 3 election cycles, Democrats enter this Presidential Election at a deficit in polling averages, a deficit on trust, and a deficit on the overall beliefs that Democrats are competent enough to handle all of the problems the nation faces right now.
That number you're looking at doesn't keep going up, Ted. Not when Biden*'s favorability level is 40.6%. Except for a few rare events while he was in office, Trump hardly ever spent a day wavering under 44% favorability and spent most of his time in office above 45%. By comparison, Joe Biden* has spent a majority of his favorability while elected under 40% in the aggregate.
This is just around Joe Biden*'s ceiling in polling. Unless there are some major news shifts over something, this number starts going right back the other way for a while and vice-versa until Election Day. Just like it does all the time.

https://newrepublic.com/article/180617/steve-bannon-trump-lies-biden-j
ill-stein
Steve Bannon no doubt thought he was being deviously clever. Speaking with The New York Times this week, he elaborated on a sophisticated plan that Donald Trump’s allies have developed for boosting third-party candidates, so they siphon votes from President Biden.
A key part of this scheme, Bannon noted, entails boosting expected Green Party candidate Jill Stein by highlighting oil production under Biden to pull environmentally concerned voters away from him. As Bannon put it:
No Republican knows that oil production under Biden is higher than ever. But Jill Stein’s people do. … Stein is furious about the oil drilling. The college kids are furious about it. The more exposure these [third-party candidates] get, the better it is for us.
Whoa, that’s some serious 11-dimensional chess, Steve! Except for one thing. If you think for a second about Bannon’s quote—that “oil production under Biden is higher than ever”—it entirely undermines one of Trump’s biggest lies: the claim that Biden’s effort to transition the United States to a decarbonized economy has destroyed the nation’s “energy independence,” leaving us weak and hollow to our very core.
This saga captures something essential about how MAGA-world fights the information wars. You’ll note that Bannon is not even slightly troubled by the idea that telling the truth about Biden’s record to one set of voters—left-leaning, green-minded ones—might contradict one of Trump’s most frequent lies to countless others.
It isn’t just that for Bannon, assertions should be evaluated purely for their instrumental usefulness. It’s also that he apparently has total confidence that voters who really need to hear the truth he uttered—those in the industrial and Appalachian heartlands who are the targets of Trump’s propaganda—never, ever will, even if he admits to it right in the paper of record.
It’s hard to overstate how central Trump’s story about “energy independence” is to his campaign. His basic claim is that under his presidency, we produced record levels of oil, inherently making us strong, whereas under Biden, we’re seeing a “war on American energy” responsible for many ills: deindustrialization, vulnerability to leftist enemies within, dependence on China and other nefarious “globalist” actors, and all-around national decline.
In reality, Biden’s green policies are facilitating billions of dollars in investments in rebuilding the industrial base via green energy manufacturing, which is creating a whole lot of advanced manufacturing jobs for people without college degrees—exactly the targets of Trump’s demagoguery. Those policies are driving a manufacturing boom, ironically in red-leaning communities. Green manufacturing makes us stronger, not weaker—more prepared for a future in which climate change becomes a more pressing threat, not just to the world, but to our own national interests.
Importantly, all this is happening while the U.S., under Biden, is producing more oil and more natural gas than ever before. Incidentally, as Washington Post fact checker Glenn Kessler details, Trump wasn’t even that responsible for the recent oil boom anyway: It started before his presidency, thanks to new energy technologies.
“The U.S. is now producing more oil and gas than it ever has, and exporting more than ever,” Jesse Jenkins, an energy expert at Princeton University, told me. “We’re a net exporter of all fossil fuels. So we’ve achieved that long-sought goal of physical energy security.”
Now the idea of “energy independence” is confusing to begin with. Even if we export more than ever before, oil is a global commodity, which inevitably makes us vulnerable to internation

Donald Trump wanted Congress to kill renewal of the FISA surveillance program:
Trump had urged members to “KILL FISA” in a social-media post Wednesday, and holdout Republicans then blocked the bill from proceeding, forcing leaders to scramble to rework the proposal.
....While dozens of mostly minor changes geared at safeguarding privacy were included, an amendment vote to add a warrant requirement failed Friday in a nail biter of a vote, with 212 in favor and 212 against.
I wish the House had added a warrant requirement. It's not as if the FISA court ever turns them down. I could even have accepted a streamlined warrant requirement—just something to keep the FBI honest. Even if you accept that its massive violations of surveillance rules are mostly honest mistakes, many of them aren't. Requiring a warrant is the best way to cut that down.
So does this mean I agree with Trump? Not even a little bit. Trump doesn't give a hoot about warrants. He wanted the entire program killed out of personal pique. He thinks the program is used to spy on him, so he wants it gone.
But the program doesn't spy on him and it does spy on lots of potential terrorists. This is a good example of how Trump's disordered mind is genuinely dangerous. His ego makes him the center of everything, and if he were president he presumably would have killed renewal completely, thus ending an important national security program. All because he's nuts.

No. I didn't. If you're going to attempt to use my history against me at least get it right.
I was stabbed in the back while being brutally beaten by four guys.
The doctors shoved a catheter up my pee hole and into my bladder and another one up my nose and into my stomach to drain everything out. Then they cut open my belly to insert a third tube. This one had an IV bag full of saline in it. They held it up and emptied it into me, then they unceremoniously threw it right onto the floor and watched it fill up without any red in it.
One of the doctors told me that the guy must have been a surgeon to have stabbed me where he did and not nick a single organ. I assume if a priest were there he would have told me about my guardian angel.
Then they pulled the tube from my nose and ripped the catheter out of my dick and I screamed like a banshee.
I then got up, looked around at all the doctors and interns that were there during this whole process and said "I'd rather you had all gotten in a big circle and beat the shit out of me again".
I'm sure they all got another great laugh when I went into the bathroom and screamed bloody murder while taking the most painful piss in existence right after that.
So no. I was never stabbed in the kidney, nor did I ever say to anyone that I was.
Your memory is just as faulty as I knew it already was. You would do best not to make an ass of yourself like this when you can't keep any facts straight in that hate-filled little brain of yours.

How Donald Trump Gets Special Treatment in the Legal System
The former president rails against a “two-tiered system of justice.” But he’s the one benefiting from it.
By James Romoser | 04/12/2024 05:00 AM EDT
https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/04/12/trump-trial-special-
treatment-justice-system-00151814
Nearly 500,000 people in America are in jail while they await criminal trials. Trump is not one of them. He was allowed to remain free with minimal conditions of release. The central condition is that he must refrain from saying anything that would threaten or harass potential witnesses, co-defendants or jurors. His Georgia bond order, for instance, states: “The Defendant shall perform no act to intimidate any person known to him or her to be a co-defendant or witness in this case or to otherwise obstruct the administration of justice.” It goes on to say that the rule applies to both “direct” and “indirect” threats. Trump’s release conditions in his other cases contain similar admonitions.
Yet Trump has repeatedly used his public soapbox to hurl menacing language that — if uttered by any other defendant — would likely be deemed to have crossed the line.
In August, just three days after he was indicted in the federal election subversion case in Washington, D.C., Trump posted on Truth Social: “If you go after me, I’m coming after you.” In September, he suggested that retired Gen. Mark Milley, former chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a potential witness in the federal election case, should be executed for treason. In October, he attacked Michael Cohen, the star witness against him in his New York case, and he attacked his former White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows, a co-defendant in the Georgia case and a potential witness in others.
And that’s to say nothing of Trump’s relentless verbal attacks on his prosecutors and judges (and their families), many of whom have faced threats to their personal safety.
Prosecutors have raised the alarm about how all of this mudslinging poses grave risks — of pressuring witnesses, polluting the jury pool and even stoking potential violence. Trump’s lawyers, in turn, have insisted that, as a presidential candidate, he must have wide latitude under the First Amendment to criticize his adversaries. Judges have imposed various gag orders, crafted and recrafted in careful legalese, that attempt to demarcate exactly what Trump can and cannot say. But no one has seriously attempted to revoke his pretrial release and send him to jail.
Similarly situated high-profile defendants have not had so much luck. Take, for instance, Sam Bankman-Fried: While awaiting trial for securities fraud, he had his bail revoked and was immediately ordered to jail after he contacted a potential witness and provided information to the press about a government cooperator.
“Whatever you think of those actions, they don’t come close to the kinds of attacks that Trump has leveled against anticipated witnesses in the Manhattan trial, like Michael Cohen, for example,” Noam Biale, a criminal defense lawyer at the law firm Sher Tremonte, told me.
“Nor did Bankman-Fried have the capacity to inspire followers to commit acts of violence,” Biale added. “So I think it’s pretty obvious that if other defendants acted in the manner Trump has, their bail would be revoked and they’d be forced to defend the case from pretrial detention.”
The judiciary’s unique solicitude to Trump runs all the way up to the Supreme Court.
In February, the high court effectively stalled Trump’s federal election subversion trial for at least several months so that the justices can we

Now for a prediction: Trump will not stop making wrong decisions and slandering people who point out his horrendous mistakes. He is in court this week for one of those mistakes. Neither will 6ix stop. That prediction is based on what I see with my own eyes, not through their words, about what other Trumptards are doing with their foolish lives. In November the Trumptards will certify their loyalty by voting for Trump. Trumptards have been wrecking themselves and their local economies for decades. I am hoping there aren't enough certified Trumptards to wreck a country.

All the Trumptards I know find Trump's characteristics attractive. I don't have to speculate why. It is because they display Trump's traits in their lives. Those traits do not serve them or Trump well. It is why Trump and his Trumptards have to cheat on their taxes. Truth Social continues to plunge amidst new weirdness
By Kevin Drum | April 16, 2024
https://jabberwocking.com/truth-social-continues-to-plunge-amidst-new-
weirdness/
Keep in mind that the actual value of DJT is about $2 plus the value of the Truth Social platform. So, about $2. Maybe $3-4 if we're being generous. In other words, it still has a ways to go before it hits bottom.
But the stock isn't plummeting just because people are figuring out it's a scam. It's also because of an announcement that management plans to sell more shares:
The filing describes a plan to offer more than 21.4 million shares of common stock, issuable “upon the exercise of warrants,” the filing shows. Stock warrants give their holder the ability to buy shares at a predetermined price within a certain time frame.
Trump Media predicted in the filing that it will receive “up to an aggregate of approximately $247.1 million from the exercise of the Warrants.”
The idea here is that holders of the warrants will exercise them to buy newly issued stock at $11.50 per share, which will net the company $247 million but dilute the value of all the existing shares. The warrant holders can then turn around and sell their 21 million shares on the open market at a profit. The warrants are held by ARC Global Investments, which is controlled by Patrick Orlando, who set up this whole deal until he was fired last year. He's currently suing Trump Media.
But that's not all! There's also this:
The company also seeks to offer the resale of up to 146.1 million shares of stock from “selling securityholders,” 114.8 million of which are held by Trump himself. Trump owns 78.8 million shares of the company, and stands to obtain 36 million “earnout shares” if the stock stays above a certain price for enough trading days.
I don't even know what this means. Some of Trump's earnout shares accrue if the stock stays above $12.50 for 20 days over the next 18 months, which is pretty certain. Others have different requirements. But what does it mean to offer them all for resale? Beats me.
In any case, this has all spooked shareholders, who had plenty of reason to be spooked already. I expect further declines.

In subsequent Nuremburg Trials of 177 defendants, 24 were sentenced to death, 20 to lifelong imprisonment, and 98 other prison sentences. Twenty-five defendants were found not guilty. “Reacher” star Alan Ritchson is receiving attention for harsh words he had for Trump’s devotees.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published earlier this month, the action star explained why he’s confused by Christians who support the former president.
“Christians today have become the most vitriolic tribe,” said Ritchson, who himself identifies as a follower of Jesus. “It is so antithetical to what Jesus was calling us to be and to do.”
“Trump is a rapist and a con man,” he went on, “And yet the entire Christian church seems to be treat him like he’s their poster child and it’s unreal. I don’t understand it.”

Get a brain, 6ix, and stop playing with matches and gasoline around dumpsters. Trump, the giant retard towering over his Trumptards, has deep cognitive dysfunction. For examples of his extreme stupidity while playing with matches and gasoline:
• He opposes aid to Ukraine because they resisted his extortion attempts in 2019 and got him impeached.
• He hates wind turbines because they ruined the view from one of his Scottish golf courses.
• He wants to repeal Obamacare because President Obama made fun of him in 2012.
• He detests electric cars because GM once closed some plants in order to free up money for EV development. The plant closures infuriated Trump, who had promised to revive manufacturing jobs.
• He opposes the FISA anti-terrorism surveillance program because he's convinced the intelligence community has spied on him.
• He opposes shutting down TikTok because it would help Facebook, which took down some of his ads during the 2020 campaign and then suspended his account after the January 6 insurrection.
• He favors cuts to the FBI budget because they investigated his Russia ties and raided his Mar-a-Lago home.
I could go on and on. We all know about Trump's endless litany of grievances, which constitute most of his stump speeches, but not enough attention is paid to the way they affect concrete policy.

Joe Biden Is Now Beating Donald Trump With Republican Pollsters as Well
Joe Biden is narrowly beating Donald Trump ahead of November's presidential election, according to a new poll.
The survey from Echelon Insights, which was cofounded by former Republican digital strategist Patrick Ruffini and pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson, found that 49 percent of respondents would either definitely, probably or lean to voting for Biden, while 46 percent said they would opt for Trump.

When Janet Yellen went to China to ask them to slow down production so we could catch up and compete, China told her ... "Yanno, you depend on us to BUY YOUR DEBT SO YOUR GOVERNMENT CAN KEEP SPENDING MONEY IT DOESN'T HAVE"
China has us over a national debt barrel. But we put us there.
NATO, as NATO, is afraid to tackle Russia directly. How do I know this? Because they're hiding behind Ukraine and refuse to come out from behind. If NATO knew they had the wherewithall to fight Russia now, and win, they'd do it in a heartbeat.
And we tried to destroy Russia economically, financially, politically ("regime change" anyone?), militarily... and failed.
We're threatening to steal Russian Central Bank assets. NOT a good look for OUR central banks, or trust in our currency.
Our major ally in the Mideast, Israel, just genocide 30,000+ civilians in Gaza, and attacked an Iranian embassy unprovoked. NOT a good look for us with the global majority.
We're having to juggle military assets between Ukraine, Israel, and Taiwan. Can you say THREE FRONT war?
Dood, we've managed to make enemies all over the world.
We made ourselves vulnerable, financially, economically, militarily, and politically.
Up until now we've managed to intimidate, bully, and regime-change our way across the world for decades, but...
We've also managed to cement the rising powers together, along with a bunch of less powerful nations who are seeing the way the wind blows. They're either shifting loyalty or at least seeking to profit from an "equidistant" relationship and putting us under pressure for better deals that we can't afford
If we don't do better, in a major way, we're going to get rolled. That's ok if you don't care much about America and Americans
... clearly, SECOND, you don't... but I do.

I think I mentioned before Joe Duncan, an Eastern Airlines pilot, I knew back in 1962, first in a very long line of assholes I have known. Joe had a high opinion about his importance to society but I knew him to be a loudmouth stupid jerk. Joe is dead, having choked on a chicken bone because he was a greedy bastard, so I cannot prove he would have voted for Trump, but I have known thousands of Joe Duncans since then. The Joe Duncans are a plague on America, much like Trump is. A great deal of my energy while working construction was getting projects completed despite the Joe Duncans screwing things up all while insisting their opinions and demands must be accommodated. There has always been an absurd gap between a Joe Duncan's or a Trump's minuscule accomplishments and their inflated opinion of themselves. When guys like Joe or Trump are fired from projects, schedules don't slip, goofy mistakes and major accidents stop happening, and even theft of fuel and tools is minimized.

Dood, you once said you were collecting comics that will be worth something... when you're 130! What 80-year old with his head screwed on straight even thinks like that?

The real problem is that our governing bodies are corrupt, and not thinking about the good of the country/ state/ county/ city.
How did it come to a choice between deep-state, swamp denizen Biden* and wheeler-dealer Trump, or Ted Cruz and Adam Schiff anyway? Dunderheads abound.
But the system, having been thoroughly corrupted by money, works for THEM, not for us, our children, or the long term. Three- front wars? Seriously?
BTW even tho I disagree with Trump on many issues, since foreign policy is the President's bailiwick I most strongly disagree with him about Israel and Iran. Despite that, I give Trump the edge over Biden* for being (mostly) less ideologically driven, more practical in dealing with nations that have leverage over us.

Well, Mrz. Calmes... I'm going to have to politely agree to disagree about all that. I think it looks just fine on Trump. And pretty much anybody who does already did, and pretty much everyone with a problem with Trump are just seeing more of what you've been seeing all this time.
And none of it has gone well for you so far. And you make it obvious to others that you're aware of that. It's easy to smell it off of you when you write an article like this one.
As for how you finished the article...
Quote:
In short, Trump in just two days all but obliterated the edge he had over Biden on the age issue that so weighs on voters’ minds.
From the start, Trump has made his campaign for reelection an extension of his legal fights, all about him and his grievances. For a time, it worked; he rolled over his Republican rivals for the party’s nomination. Those days are past. He’s penned in. Whether he resembles a jailbird or a crabby baby, he’s hardly projecting the image most voters want in a president.
Meh... Bullshit.
Nobody is going to forget about Biden's "age issue", which we all know is your dog whistle calling out anybody who is rightfully concerned he needs cheat sheet cards at public appearances, he regularly can't finish sentences, and when he does he's just saying something stupid and nonsensical.
That reality isn't going to go away just because Trump is in yet another court case.
Joe Biden*'s only chance is if the Democrats somehow manage to cancel the Presidential Debates this year. Everyone knows that is true, and those who would never admit it are the ones secretly praying that is exactly what happens. Having to get on a debate stage alone with Trump would be the worst possible thing the Democrats could ever allow to happen to Joe. He'd be defenseless, and he would be destroyed.

A growing contingent of right-wing evangelical Christians view Donald Trump as an actual prophet
By Chris Lehmann | April 15, 2024
https://www.thenation.com/article/society/trump-evangelicals-nar/
It’s a two-minute video that Trump posted to his Truth Social account just prior to the third anniversary of the January 6 insurrection. Called “God Made Trump,” the campaign spot is brazenly messianic in tone and substance:
“God had to have somebody willing to go into the den of vipers, call out the fake news for their tongues as sharp as a serpent’s. The poison of vipers is on their lips, and yet stopped. So God made Trump. God said, ‘I need somebody who will be strong and courageous, who will not be afraid or terrified of the wolves when they attack.” (Here a shot of a wolf baring its teeth briefly morphs into a photo of Democratic Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.) “A man who cares for the flock, a shepherd to mankind who won’t ever leave nor forsake them. I need the most diligent worker to follow the path and remain strong in faith, and know the belief of God and country.” Here the background video shows Trump caressing a flag, and being prayed over by a circle of preachers during his 2020 presidential run.
Neatly distilling the central narratives of Trump’s 2024 campaign, while leaning heavily on well-established tropes from the politicized world of evangelical worship, the video delivers a central message: Trump and Trump alone is anointed as your country’s savior, and indeed your personal messiah. Placing Trump at ground zero in the battle for Christian control of the United States is an audacious move—he was, after all, the man who posted a holiday greeting to his Truth Social account inviting his rivals and critics to “rot in hell.” But as “God Made Trump” makes clear, a country besieged by malign and demonic forces can be redeemed only by unlikely and miraculous intervention from on high. God has chosen the person of Donald Trump to cast out all the many evil spirits holding the true America hostage.
The Trump revolution in the Republican Party has shed many of the last remaining vestiges of traditional interest-group alignments—most strikingly, the business-evangelical accord at the heart of the powerful Reagan coalition that reshaped right-wing politics in the 1980s—and has begun to morph into something unprecedented in modern American politics: a nakedly Christian nationalist push for maximum worldly power, primed to usher in a post-democratic age of state-sanctioned Kulturkampf on the right. What began as a faux-populist appeal to rescue an imperiled, mythic “real America” is now a full-fledged political revival movement, replete with personal redemption narratives, baptisms, and a new spiritual argot, steeped in the absolutist rhetoric and disposable memes of the Internet.
A central doctrine that gives the New Apostolic Reformation’s (NAR) theological politics a distinctly militant charge is the notion of spiritual warfare. Where the main run of evangelical eschatology defers the settling of spiritual accounts to the aftermath of Armageddon — the Last Judgment and the Rapture — NAR apostles find the battle for cosmic control embedded firmly in the here and now: in the struggle to direct the leading institutions of pub

So many political analysts have either memory-holed how presidential elections actually work in the U.S. or are demonstrating that motivated cognition is one hell of a drug. Because for Trump to lose this election, it does not require over 50 percent of people to say that this trial would flip their vote. Many people are already absolutely determined not to vote for the criminal defendant. As in 2016 and 2020, the 2024 election will come down to margins of 1 or 2 percentage points in just six states. In this game of winner-takes-all, even by a hair, dropping “only” 9 percent of your base upon a Bragg conviction — as the most Trump-favorable poll testing the stakes of this case reports — means you would lose the election. https://www.politico.com/news/magazine/2024/03/18/poll-conviction-trum
p-2024-elections-00147338
Thus, while it is absolutely the case that 36 percent of independents saying that a guilty verdict would move them away from Trump is less than the 44 percent saying it wouldn’t, when your vote total is presently neck and neck and electoral precedent says it will come down to the wire, you cannot afford to lose anyone, let alone over a third of the gettable voters. That 36 percent matters greatly.
And so, those who are dismissing the electoral consequences of this criminal trial by declaring that events in Manhattan over the next few weeks will merely animate Trump’s base — a base that will see this trial as yet more proof of the Deep State’s (™) persecution of their Lord — are also demonstrating a fundamental misunderstanding of electoral math. You cannot mobilize the voters who are already absolutely voting for Trump to any greater heights. No matter how rabid their fury, and how bottomless their sense of shared grievance, they still get only one vote each — at least until they figure out how to commit the voter fraud they love to decry on a broader scale. The rank and file in the tank for MAGA cannot become more impactful.
It’s important to remember that this is really an election interference trial, with a crucial trifecta of sex, money, and voter deception. So, yes, the public opinion data is one way to understand the influence — and in fact, it points toward this case being quite consequential. But the larger, as yet unquantifiable element of this criminal lawsuit currently playing out in the midst of a presidential election is the story it transmits. The trial is a long-awaited step toward accountability for a presidential candidate publicly performing the role of criminal defendant, sitting reluctantly before a jury of other Americans. This telegraphs a very loud tale about him and, more importantly, the stakes of this election.

Prosecution says jury should know that Trump is a big fat liar
The jury has been chosen for Donald Trump's hush money trial and the judge has moved on to what's called a Sandoval hearing. This is where the prosecution explain the kinds of questions it would like to ask Trump if he decides to take the stand. For my own amusement and yours, here's a selection of excerpts from the New York Times coverage https://www.nytimes.com/live/2024/04/19/nyregion/trump-trial-hush-mone
y
We are now hearing from Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor with the district attorney’s office, who says that the civil fraud trial finding from the judge — “repeated fraud and illegality” — would be highly relevant in calling Trump's testimony into question.
....Colangelo is bringing up a moment during the civil fraud trial when the judge found that Trump had violated a gag order in that case. The judge in that case summoned Trump to the stand and found that he had lied, and said that his testimony rang “hollow and untrue.”
....Justice Merchan just read another judge’s determination aloud, from a case in which Trump sued Hillary Clinton. That judge found that the lawsuit was "completely frivolous, both factually and legally,” and “was brought in bad faith for an improper purpose.”
Justice Merchan reads another quote from the judge in that suit, in which he labeled Trump a “sophisticated litigant who is repeatedly using the courts to seek revenge on political adversaries." The judge said: “He is the mastermind of strategic abuse of the judicial process, and he cannot be seen as a litigant blindly following the advice of a lawyer.” Justice Merchan sounds inclined to allow prosecutors to cross-examine Trump on this matter.
In other words, Trump is a congenital liar and nothing he says on the stand is worth the spit he uses to utter it. That sounds like a very reasonable thing to confront Trump with. It also suggests Trump would be insane to testify on his own behalf.

With Republicans Like These, Who Needs Russian Propaganda?
Some far-right members of Congress seem to be parroting Vladimir Putin’s talking points. That doesn’t mean anti-Ukraine conspiracy theories can’t be homegrown.

hnson-republicans-marjorie-greene-putin-propaganda.html
Earlier this month, Republican Texas Rep. Michael McCaul, the head of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told Puck News that Russian propaganda had “infected a good chunk of my party’s base.” Several days later, another Republican, Rep. Michael Turner of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, said he agreed. “Anti-Ukraine and pro-Russia messages, some of which we even hear being uttered on the House floor,” Turner told CNN, are “directly coming from Russia.”
It was a notable moment—and a telling one, as the House gets ready for a contentious vote on aid to Ukraine. The vote is being loudly protested by far-right politicians including Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is pushing to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson from his role over the issue.
It’s not the first time Republican lawmakers have accused their colleagues of essentially being Russian pawns. But as far-right rabble-rousers in the Republican Party have increasingly advocated against continued support of Ukraine—and even some mainstream Republicans no longer interpret Russian aggression as a ruthless threat to democracy and the international order—the most extreme lawmakers appear to be mirroring the Kremlin’s own propaganda.
Last Monday, Greene told Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast that Ukraine was waging a “war against Christianity” and Russians “seem to be protecting” the religion. The idea of Russia as a great (white) Christian nation has been percolating in right-wing thinking for more than a decade, despite Russia’s history of suppressing non-Orthodox Christianity and exerting power over the Russian Orthodox Church.
But Greene didn’t limit herself to praising Russia’s religious nationalism on Bannon’s show: She cited, as fact, anti-Ukraine disinformation that “the Ukrainian government is attacking Christians” and “executing priests.” This prompted former Rep. Ken Buck, another Republican, to call Greene “Moscow Marjorie” on CNN.
And indeed, this assertion does mirror Russia’s own talking points about Ukraine. (In actuality, the crimes Greene accused Ukraine of committing are crimes Russian forces have perpetrated.) But whether the Kremlin’s own talking points are being piped into the brains of right-wing American politicians—or just bear a striking similarity to the new isolationist rhetoric of the far right—is a matter of interesting debate.

I won't predict that Trump will be fine, because "The Interagency" is willing to do anything...and I mean ANYTHING... to stop Trump.
Even if it means a convenient "accident" that takes Trump out.
That they're willing to go as far as they have shows how desperate they are.
Desperate people do strange things.

Just like a Republican to snatch Defeat from the Jaws of Victory.
Republicans will always lose on the Abortion issue. This is why Democrats would never actually codify it for you. It could be the one thing that saves Democrats in November.
That's fine. Just keep on destroying the country. As long as I can fuck all I want and I get to kill my babies.

Anyone who seeks to manipulate the foreign policy of the United States, whether the tin-pot autocrat in Hungary or the Communist Party of China, now knows that a carefully designed propaganda campaign, when targeted at the right people, can succeed well beyond what anyone once thought possible. From the first days of the 2022 Russian invasion, President Vladimir Putin has been trying to conquer Ukraine through psychological games as well as military force. He needed to persuade Americans, Europeans, and above all Ukrainians that victory was impossible, that the only alternative was surrender, and that the Ukrainian state would disappear in due course.
Plenty of Americans and Europeans, though not so many Ukrainians, supported this view. Pro-Russia influencers — Tucker Carlson, J. D. Vance, David Sacks — backed up by an army of pro-Russia trolls on X and other social-media platforms, helped feed the narrative of failure and convinced a minority in Congress to block aid for Ukraine. It’s instructive to trace the path of a social-media post that falsely claimed that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky owns two yachts, how it traveled up the food chain late last year, from the keyboard of a propagandist through the echo chamber created by trolls and into the brains of American lawmakers. According to Senator Thom Tillis, a Republican from North Carolina, some of his colleagues worried out loud, during debates about military aid to Ukraine, that “people will buy yachts with this money.” They had read the false stories and believed they were true.
But with the passage of this aid bill, Russia’s demoralization campaign has suffered a severe setback. This is also a setback for the Russian war effort, and not only because the Ukrainians will now have more ammunition. Suddenly the Russian military and Russian society are once again faced with the prospect of a very long war. Ukraine, backed by the combined military and economic forces of the United States and the European Union, is a much different opponent than Ukraine isolated and alone.
That doesn’t mean that the Russians will quickly give up: Putin and the propagandists who support him on state television have repeatedly stated that their goal is not to gain a bit of extra territory but to control all of Ukraine. They don’t want to swap land for peace. They want to occupy Kharkiv, Odesa, Kyiv, and more. Now, while their goals become harder to reach, is a good moment for the democratic countries backing Ukraine to recalibrate our strategy too.
Once the aid package becomes law this week, the psychological advantage will once again be on our side. Let’s use it. As Johnson himself recommended, the Biden administration should immediately pressure European allies to release the $300 billion in Russian assets that they jointly hold and send it to Ukraine. There are excellent legal and moral arguments for doing so—the money can legitimately be considered a form of reparations. This shift would also make clear to the Kremlin that it has no path back to what used to be called “normal” relations, and that the price Russia is payi

Americans Struggle The Most In Cities Controlled By Radical Democrats
A new Census Bureau survey highlights the 15 largest US metro areas where residents face the most financial difficulties, almost all of which are under Democratic leadership. This comes as no surprise as issues of elevated inflation, high taxes, soaring violent crime, and a migrant crisis are spiraling out of control across many blue cities.
The survey asked 70,000 respondents between March 5 and April 1 in major metro areas these three questions:
Difficulty paying for usual household expenses,
food scarcity,
and unable to pay energy bill.
The survey's findings are stark: Riverside, California; Houston, Texas; and Chicago, Illinois, are the top three metro areas with the most financial hardships. All three cities are under Democratic leadership. With the exception of Dallas (#4 on the list) and Miami (#6), the rest of the metro areas are under liberal control.

For the RECORD and 6ix and Signym: nobody but a Trumptard believes other Trumptards and their complaints about Democrats.
I was watching the local TV news, which I seldom do because of the sad parade of Trumptards in trouble with the law. There was an excerpt from a bail hearing where the defendant loudly complained: "You are making me sound like a bad mother." She had beaten her twins to death. "No mother is perfect. Why am I here?" Then she raged against the Judge and the Prosecutor, accusing them of bias against her. Trumptards (by which I mean Trump, 6ix, Signym) don't understand that 100% of the trouble in their lives is caused by 0.01% of the time they do something wrong, like the occasional beating to death of a child or cheating on taxes or paying a bribe or stealing an election. Since Trumptards are not murdering their children 100% of their waking life, Trumptards can't see why they are in trouble 100% of the time. It doesn't seem fair to Trumptards. Since nobody is perfect, why are they being singled out for something that could happen to anybody who is not perfect?

Check out Trump leading by 0.2 points according to real clear politics. Then check out the polls.
If you disregard or adjust Rasmussen because it has Trump up by 8 points. Twice as much as anyone else. Then if you take into account the poll was conducted at the end of March by an ultra-conservative, you'll see no way Trump still leads Biden. And with the abortion issues taking hold while Trump is on trial, the first of many, I predict Trumps' numbers are going to collapse; hard and soon.

The inherent absurd comedy of these exchanges aside, this is serious stuff. The most egregious Trump post was something the former president put on Truth Social last week after the first two days of jury selection. In it, he went after jurors, which is just about the biggest no-no in the U.S. court system, even if you don’t have millions of rabid fans, some of whom have already demonstrated their willingness to commit crimes at your behest.
The concerns about witness intimidation are very real. Multiple jurors backed out at the last possible moment prior to being seated, and one even did so after being seated. Another juror tried to back out on Monday and was apparently convinced to stay on. Each of the past two days I’ve been in the court, jurors have tended to stare straight ahead without looking at Trump, even though they enter and exit the courtroom by walking right by him. How could they not be intimidated by a man who holds the loudest platform in the country and is willing to use it?

More than 150,000 Republicans voted for Nikki Haley in Pa.’s presidential primary
More than 16% of the state’s GOP electorate supported the former South Carolina governor over former President Donald Trump, the party’s presumptive nominee.
Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley dropped out of the Republican presidential race in early March but still received more than 16% of the vote in Pennsylvania’s Republican presidential primary Tuesday, a sign of discontent with former President Donald Trump as the GOP nominee.
The vote for Haley, whose name appeared on the ballot despite her campaign suspension, was strongest in Southeastern Pennsylvania, with Montgomery County giving Haley nearly a quarter of the vote.

How to change your political party
On the voter registration form, select the box that says 'Change of Party.'
You can change your political party at any time. When the change gets made in the system depends on when you make the change.
Changes made more than 15 days before an election will take effect for that election.
Changes made 15 days or less before an election will take effect for the next election.

It's heartening to know that out of a state with over 13 Million people in it, there's only 150,000 of them that are this sad.
Meanwhile, Joe* wasn't too far behind Trump's 82.8% with only 88.2% of the Democrat's vote in Pennsylvania.
That's better than he did in 2020 though when Biden* only got 79% of the Democratic vote in the primary with Bernie grabbing 18%.

Only 88% last night? Well I thought Joe Biden* wasn't running against anybody after the DNC made it clear there wasn't going to be any debates and that no other Democrat candidate would be taken seriously.
