Meanwhile

Who is going to fix our economy?
Who is going to secure our border?
Who is going to break our addiction to debt?
Who is going to put America first?
Who is going to secure our energy, now and for the foreseeable future?
Who is going to put us on the path to sustainability?
Who is going to break the back of the deep state, and restore our Constitutional rights?
Who is going to save us from the prospect of nuclear holocaust?
Who is going to preserve the safety nets set up for the very young, the disabled, the elderly, and those expeiencing temporary misfortune?
Who is going to unite America by rewarding work in a mileu of an equal opportunity meritocracy, without favor to race, age, sex, religion, gender, or the many other wedge interests that have been used to divide us?

Trump didn't create these problems. So the answer isn't "not Trump".

Let's pick one problem: the second on the list. Border.

The solution to "Border" will be called "Culling" in the abstract. Think of it as the same as culling a herd of wild rampaging hogs, for example, tearing up a neighborhood, rooting up lawns looking for food. Congress will have to set "Culling" limits: How many migrants can be "culled" during a season? Can females be "culled" or only males? Can immature migrants be "culled"? To make "Culling" easier to understand, it could be the same as killing, but it also could be 1) arrest, 2) appearance before a judge, and 3) deportation. If Congress goes with the 1-2-3 steps to "culling," Congress will have to also pass a much larger budget to cover all those steps.

Whatever rules a committee in Congress writes for "Culling" will never pass so long as there are 41 Senators of the opposing party. There has to be at least 60 votes to overcome a filibuster in the Senate.

The result is no rules get passed by Congress for "Culling" migrants along the "Border" problem.

The same is true with every problem on Signym's list. Until one party or the other has 60 or more reliable Senators, without one or more Senator Manchin pretending to be reliable yet completely unreliable, nothing is going to get done. The Founding Fathers, and Senators, have designed a governing system that was intended to gridlock until one side has a super-majority in Congress. That's a very poor design, unless the electorate is super-supportive of one party or the other. But at the moment the electorate is split approximately 50-50, as it has been for many decades.

A vote for Trump proves you love Jesus and will go to heaven, guaranteed. A preacher knows. Why would he lie?

J.D. Vance went into his Saturday afternoon campaign stop in Monroeville, PA well aware of the potential for controversy. The event had been organized by a far-right evangelical preacher, Lance Wallnau, who was active in the Stop the Steal movement that culminated in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot. Wallnau also periodically makes headlines for incendiary proclamations, most recently that Kamala Harris performed well at the debate because of “witchcraft.”

Vance’s willingness to campaign with Wallnau—who preaches that Trump is prophesied by God to be president so that that Christians can take over American government and society—did not go unnoticed by the press. It was, many analysts concluded, an indicator of Vance’s growing ties to Christian nationalism.

6ix, you are only alive because Federal money pays for your health care. You couldn't afford to keep breathing without Biden's help. The same is true for most Trumptards. They'd be dead without Federal money to keep them alive, thanks to Democrats and no thanks to Republicans:

Courtesy of the Wall Street Journal, here's a map of every county in the US that relies on federal aid for more than 25% of its income:

The Journal's numbers show that over the past 20 years the number of Democratic counties feeding heavily at the federal trough has increased about 80%.

The number of Republican counties has increased more than 800%.

Note that this includes Social Security and Medicare, as well as all other federal aid programs. So part of the divergence is because Republican counties have generally aged more than Democratic ones.

https://jabberwocking.com/raw-data-feeding-at-the-federal-trough/

6ixStringJack, you couldn't afford to feed yourself without Biden's help with SNAP. Thank the Democrats and no thanks to the Republicans. In Texas, controlled by Republicans, the SNAP program does NOT remind Trumptards they are getting free food from Democrats: https://www.hhs.texas.gov/services/food/snap-food-benefits

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday called for “one real rough, nasty” and “violent day” of police retaliation in order to eradicate crime “immediately.” The remarks were delivered by Trump at a rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, just 36 days before the election.

I happen to be reading Max Boot's biography of Ronald Reagan right now, and Trump's outburst reminds me of Reagan's hardline attitude toward protesters at Berkeley while he was governor of California: "If it takes a bloodbath, let's get it over with." Echoing Trump, he said afterward that this was "just a figure of speech." In the end, the only major crackdown he initiated was the People's Park fiasco, which he mishandled badly, but he never backed down: "It should be obvious to every Californian that there are those in our midst who are bent on destroying our society," he said.

His poll numbers soared. People might not have approved of what he did, but they loved the tough rhetoric. It showed whose side he was on, and most people took it as little more than venting.

Both Trump and Reagan gave voice to one of the oldest and deepest conservative tropes: Show 'em who's boss and they'll back down. There's shockingly little evidence for this—just the opposite, in fact—but it retains an almost talismanic hold on the conservative mind. Lots of people love this kind of talk, even if they know it's mostly just talk.

Of course, there are two big differences between Reagan and Trump. In 1969 crime really was increasing and there really was a lot of campus unrest. Today crime is down and campuses are generally quiet.

Second, Reagan, for all his faults, wasn't insane. With Trump I'm not so sure.

Once again, everything you post is a lie.

I've got far too much money for SNAP. You can't get SNAP in Indiana if you have more than $5,000.

https://faqs.in.gov/hc/en-us/articles/360042514611-What-are-the-SNAP-a

Also, if you're between the ages of 18 and 54, you're not disabled and you don't have children you can't get SNAP in Indiana unless you're working 20 hours per week, which would price you out of SNAP eligibility without children anyhow. So no reason to hide all that money in coffee cans for another 9 years.

According to that article it looks like in a lot of other states that was 51 or 52 years old and was raised to 54 this month, but it was always 54 in Indiana.

CNN's Enten: Trump Has Gained 17 Points Among Non-White, Non-College Educated Voters From 2020

You don't have enough white college "educated" wine moms and cat ladies to make up for this.

You've also lost the Teamsters as well.

The polls already don't look good for Kamala vs. the last two election cycles and they're bullshit anyhow. You don't lose 17% of two major voting blocks and a vast majority of labor unions and still end up with a 50/50 split.

Kamala is toast.

The only comment on that article says it all...

"College educated" is synonymous with brainwashed Communist slave of the Democrat Party.

Indeed.

ETA: And I'll tell you who went to college that's still voting for Trump. It's all those girls who were in sports and didn't win because they were competing against men in dresses who had their dicks swinging all over the girls' locker rooms.

It's that kind of shit that breaks the brainwashing pretty fucking quick.

True, we don’t know exactly what Trump would do in office. When he’s pressed about policy issues, even very straightforward ones, he often zones out in a way that Kamala Harris and Joe Biden would never get away with. For example, on Friday, when an attendee at one of his campaign events asked what he would do to keep auto industry jobs in Michigan, Trump — who on Saturday referred to Biden and Harris as “mentally impaired” — began his response thus:

So, pretty much as we’ve been saying and what I want to do is I want to be able to — look, your business, years ago, in this area, I was honored as the man of the year. It was maybe 20 years ago. Oh, and the fake news heard about it, they said it never happened.
https://www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-michigan-man-of-year-award-job-qu
estion_n_66f787dae4b0632d68f6f1b9

The claim doesn’t pass CNN’s fact check, but for Trump, that’s nothing new. More to the point is that his response to an earnest question from a concerned American was to ramble on about himself. (Also, I suppose, nothing new.)

Ask Trump "What would you do to bring down the prices at the grocery stores?" He can do nothing except to give people money to buy the food. Grocery stores would willingly accept two for the price of one coupons with Trump's picture on each, instantly cutting food prices in half. Well, Trump can't do even that until Congress gives him the money to pay those coupons when the grocery stores redeem them for cash.

Your state run propaganda media won't even ask him any questions. They cut him off when he's speaking live. They refuse to have him on their shows. The only thing you've ever seen Trump say in over 8 years is out of context sound bytes.

And that has NOTHING to do with the fact that Harris has yet to give a straight answer on any question that the media has ever asked her since they did a coup on Joe Biden* after he won the Primary.

Harris will NEVER rise above 1 or 2 points in the aggregate on Trump, even with the gaslighting. She's peaked. This is her plateau.

Once they can't hide her anymore and everybody gets to see how dumb she is and how toxic her policies are for our country, it's all over for you.

Maybe some of you will finally stop blindly believing everything MSNBC tells you once this happens.

1.9 points. 1.9 points was Harris' peak.

She hit 1.7 points on August 21st and has now floundered between 1.5 points and 1.9 points for the 17 days since.

The DNC was August 19th through the 22nd. RFK dropped out of the race on August 23rd.

Both of these events are now baked into the polls.

Morning Consult's most recent poll put Harris at +3 when its previous poll had her at +4. Outside of Rasmussen Reports, any polls that have Harris higher than the last time they polled were a LONG time ago and predated the DNC.

On this day in history Biden was up +7.1 and Clinton was up +3.1 in the meaningless Popular Vote. Harris is only up 1.8 points.

On this day in history, Joe Biden lead by +6.5 and Hilary Clinton lead by +1.3.

Don't worry though. This was damage that Clinton did by calling half the country deplorable. The Legacy Media did a great job killing discussion on that and slowly gaslit everyone into believing she was up +6.7 by the middle of October.

Clinton began her upswing that saw her once again peak at +6.7 on October 17th this weekend. In only 2 days she'd risen from +1.3 to +2.6 today.

Kamala is now at 2.2. If the election were held tomorrow and the polls were as skewed in favor of Democrats as they have been the last 2 elections, Trump still wins the popular vote.

October 1st:

Kamala remained over 2 points for 4 days. 2.1 on September 20th, 2.2 on the 21st and 22nd, and 2.1 on the 23rd. After that 2.0 and back down to 1.8 over the weekend.

You've got 35 days left, and right now it looks like Trump is going to win the Popular Vote.

I made this prediction that she wouldn't rise above 1 or 2 points on the aggregate exactly 50 days ago from today. In that time she only rose .2 points above that for only 4 of those 50 days because of a few outlier polls giving her +5 and +6, and now she's on her way back down.

On this day in History, October 1st:

National00000000Harris +1.8000Biden +7.20000Clinton +2.7

Disaster relief in Republican-land

Three weeks ago:

Republicans in disaster-prone states, eager to present a united front during government funding talks, are shrugging off a disaster aid cliff — even as a storm barrels toward the Gulf Coast.

....“Disasters happen,” said Florida Republican Rep. Mario Díaz-Balart, chair of the State-Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee, when asked about Johnson's continuing resolution.... “I'm not too concerned at this stage.”

The Republican Continuing Resolution did NOT include disaster aid, but it failed to pass so Republicans tried again a week ago:

Lawmakers from disaster-prone states — on both sides of the aisle — were aghast this week at the lack of additional dollars for FEMA’s already depleted disaster relief fund and other federal disaster programs.

As the House and Senate’s top four leaders met last weekend to negotiate a deal to keep the government funded, they were forced to acquiesce to the demands of Congress’ most conservative fiscal hawks, whose votes were thought to be pivotal for passage.... The funding omission was made all the more striking by the fact that lawmakers were leaving Washington two days ahead of schedule, in part because of the hurricane.

Still no disaster aid, even with Hurricane Helene barreling toward the coast. Today, though, the leader of the Republican Party is playing a different tune:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
A REALLY BAD RESPONSE TO HURRICANE FROM KAMALA AND JOE!

Tell Trump it was Republicans in the House who responded badly to the hurricane.

FEMA Money Is for Disaster-Stricken Americans, Not Those Here Illegally

https://www.heritage.org/budget-and-spending/commentary/fema-money-dis
aster-stricken-americans-not-those-here-illegally

1. The White house is now trying to push through a $40 billion “supplemental” funding bill that holds bailout money for FEMA hostage.

2. DHS asked for $800 million—$650 million more than last year—“for communities to support migrants who have been released from DHS custody.”

3. Tying a FEMA top-up to Ukraine aid shows that the Biden administration will maintain open borders at any price.

Quote:

Federal spending is hard enough to keep track of at the best of times, but the Biden administration is highly adept at hiding how they fund their open-borders agenda. In a cynical budget negotiation tactic, the White house is now trying to push through a $40 billion “supplemental” funding bill that holds bailout money for FEMA hostage to sending billions more to Ukraine with insufficient accountability.

It gets worse. If the White House tactic works, and Congress coughs up enough aid to Ukraine that rescue money for FEMA can get through, hundreds of millions of that funding won’t go to disaster-afflicted Americans, but to providing housing, food, health care and transportation for illegal immigrants through grants to activist NGOs and “sanctuary” cities.

That’s right. Even though FEMA grants are meant to help taxpaying Americans prepare for and cope with hurricanes, fires and floods, the Biden administration has used these same funds to pay activist NGOs to settle migrants illegally in the United States. FEMA’s major disaster relief and flood insurance programs are already in debt and need to be refilled each year. The White House’s supplemental request uses that as a smokescreen to slip in grant money for their open-border operation.

>>> President Biden’s Ukraine Supplemental Request Is a Border Trap

FEMA’s Emergency Food and Shelter Program is already being siphoned for over $332 million “to assist communities receiving noncitizens released from custody,” which means housing migrants here illegally at the border, then transporting them to places like New York City. New York has been promised $104 million from this pot, though at a burn rate of $8 million a day, it won’t last long. Big city mayors gripe about a few buses sent by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, but the main train delivering migrants to their sidewalks is driven by DHS, using FEMA money.

And the Biden administration is getting even more brazen. FEMA grant money, unlike its Disaster Relief and Flood Insurance programs, doesn’t require the president to declare a federal disaster—which would at least highlight the self-defeating results of his policies. So it should come as no surprise that DHS, in its fiscal 2024 budget, already asked for a directly appropriated $83.5 million for FEMA Shelter and Services Program grants to “nonprofits and local entities to provide support to noncitizens released from DHS custody.”

Furthermore, DHS asked for $800 million—$650 million more than last year—“for communities to support migrants who have

Sep 30, 2024
The two leading election predictors, Allan Lichtman and Nate Silver have had a rivalry for a long time, but Allan Lichtman is ready to move past their feud.

(Lichtman predicts Harris wins but does NOT predict Trumptards are crazy. I know they are. I have seen decades of their craziness and obscenely sub-optimal behavior which they assume is normality. It is not. If it were, they be getting much better results out of life and would even live years longer.)

Trump is going to win all of the battleground states. In 12 years, no Democrat challenger has shown such small leads or has even been behind in the swing states as Kamala is now, and every time the Democrat ends up doing much worse than the polls show.

This is just a Dick Cheney blowjob article filed under Newsweek's "Opinion" column.

The fact that this is in the Opinion column when just a year ago it wouldn't have been is rather telling.

Also...

Uber Alt-Left polling firm Quinnipiac just gave Trump +5 in Georgia today. That's the highest result for Trump in the Georgia aggregate today, and +2 more than the latest Rasmussen poll.

Last election season, Quinnipiac was known for being 7 points higher for Biden* than reality in the National polling and 8 points higher for Biden* than reality in Florida. If Quinnipiac is giving Trump +5 in Georgia today, Trump might actually be winning Georgia by double digits right now.

Trump Pulls Out of ’60 Minutes’ Election Interview

The former president, who walked out of an interview with correspondent Lesley Stahl in 2020 amid the last presidential campaign, has cancelled an exchange he was scheduled to make on a special edition of the venerable CBS News newsmagazine for Monday night — after previously committing to do so.

According to CBS News, both campaigns had accepted interview requests, with an agreement reached that each candidate would appear for half the show’s broadcast — two segments for Trump, and two for Harris.

On Tuesday, however, CBS News said that Trump campaign spokesperson notified the program that the former president would not take part.

Trump not wanting to be on TV? Something is wrong with him! My guess is Trump learned to avoid being cross-examined under oath to tell the truth and only the truth. Trump flinches when in court where the bailiff and judge will hurt him if he lies or merely misbehaves. 60 Minutes does not make him swear on the Bible but Trump can’t take the Fifth Amendment on TV without looking foolish and sneaky.

I spent an hour yesterday texting with a billionaire who holds Harvard Law and Harvard Business degrees. He’s not going to vote for Kamala but he calls Trump, with whom he used to golf, “dishonest” and a “monster,” so he’s not going to vote for him either.

He’s “sitting this one out.”

What???

“You want socialism?” he asks.

Well, we already have socialism, I tell him, and have had it all his life. Public schools, public roads, the social safety net. So it’s not as though extending $35 insulin to all who need it, not just seniors . . . and providing first-time-buyer assistance to promote private homeownership and $50,000 tax incentives to promote small-business start-ups . . . would suddenly push us over the cliff from capitalism to socialism.

“You want open borders and 13,000 convicted murderers RELEASED into the USA?” he asks.

Leave aside that it is Trump who killed the bipartisan bill that would finally have resolved the border crisis . . . so it is solely Trump who is responsible for it now.

Here’s the real story on those 13,000 murderers she has allowed to roam our streets:

> First, “the vast majority” (to quote ICE) arrived in the decades before Harris was Vice President — some of them when Trump was President.

> Second, most of them are not roaming the streets — they’re in prison. See the difference?

(These two stories provide the facts.)

But like all those Haitians terrorizing Springfield as they feast on dogs and cats, Trump cultists — and even idiots like my friend — don’t care. They spread this stuff anyway.

He absolutely does not want Trump re-elected (and could easily afford to throw five or ten million dollars at the problem); yet won’t do the one most minimal thing he could do to help prevent it. Vote.

I'm hearing rumblings that Walz might drop out after he gets spanked tonight.

I assume this is just another Coup, just like what they did to Joe Biden*. The buyer's remorse that started creeping up only a week after Harris made that choice has fully sunk in. Even Kamala herself has now said that she hadn't been sleeping well when she made her VP pick.

Unfortunately for Democrats though, Shapiro is now damaged goods and is not going to save the ticket at this juncture.

All we need to do is run ads with Shapiro smiling gleefully as he signed missiles before turning around, getting on his knees and sucking on Dick Cheney's cock.

Dockworkers walked out of every major port on the US East and Gulf coasts for the first time in nearly 50 years, staging a strike that could ripple across the world’s largest economy and cause political turmoil just weeks before the presidential election.

The 36 affected ports have the combined capacity to handle as much as half of all US trade volumes, and the closures immediately halt container operations and auto shipments. Energy supplies and bulk cargo won’t be directly affected. Some exceptions will be made to allow for the movement of military goods and cruise ships.

The significance of a work stoppage at every major container port from Houston to Miami and New York-New Jersey depends on how long the strike lasts. The economic loss from the shutdown, which began at 12:01 Tuesday morning Eastern Standard Time, will be between $3.8 billion to $4.5 billion a day, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co.

Trump campaigns in Milwaukee

Trump mixes up words, swerves among subjects in off-topic speech

Story by Sabrina Rodriguez, Isaac Arnsdorf

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/trump-mixes-up-words-swerves-a
mong-subjects-in-off-topic-speech/ar-AA1rywko

MILWAUKEE — Republican nominee Donald Trump spoke for 33 minutes before his first mention of the ostensible focus of his remarks.

Signs reading SCHOOL CHOICE, EDUCATION FREEDOM NOW and LET PARENTS DECIDE decorated a small auditorium, and a panel of speakers preceding the former president focused on using public funds to let families choose between public and private, especially religious, schools. Trump read from a binder containing a prepared speech on the subject, and he switched abruptly between the text and a jumble of other topics.

“We can be nice and we can be politically incorrect, but the only thing they’re going to do there is cheat on elections, and we just can’t let this happen,” he said at one point. Without warning, he continued: “The city of Milwaukee is the home of first and oldest choice program.”

He spoke of “a million Rambos.” “Turnarounds” and “gotaways” and “dead-head spending.” He mixed up Iran with North Korea and strained to pronounce United Arab Emirates. He marveled at Hurricane Helene coming so late in the storm season, which typically runs through November. He falsely claimed government agencies can’t name the U.S. population, and he compared the conflict between Israel and Iran to “two kids fighting in the schoolyard.”

Trump, 78, often speaks in a digressive, extemporaneous style that thrills his fans at large-scale rallies. But Tuesday’s event, in front of almost entirely reporters, was especially scattered and hard to follow. Polls show voters’ concerns about Trump’s age and fitness have increased since President Joe Biden, 81, withdrew and was replaced as the Democratic nominee by Vice President Kamala Harris.

Trump spoke slowly and appeared tired. It was his second stop of the day, and he has picked up the pace of campaigning in recent weeks.

“I think I’m booked every single day for 33 days,” he said at the end of the news conference, incorrectly citing the number of days until the election, which is 35 days. “I’ve worked for 17 or 18 days when you say in a row, and I’m working even when I’m not working.”

Trump was more energetic during a speech to supporters in Waunakee, Wis., earlier Tuesday. He went on an extended riff about the 1987 film “Full Metal Jacket” and made up a false claim that Harris raised taxes as the San Francisco district attorney, which is not a power of that office.

Trump avoided direct questions about how he would address the escalating violence between Iran and Israel, by repeatedly insisting it never would have happened if he were president. He claimed he could settle that war, as well as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, with a single phone call apiece, but he declined to specify how.

“I don’t want to say what I’d use because I don’t want to give up negotiating abilities,” he said. He even boasted that with a second term he could have struck a peace deal between Iran and Israel.

He did not mention Tuesday’s vice-presidential debate or his running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) at either event until an hour and 20 minutes into the news conference when he was directly asked what advice he’d given Vance.

“Have fun,” Trump answered.

Much of what Trump said here he has said before. He repeated false claims about a U.S. government app directing cartels where to drop off smuggled migrants; in fact the app lets migrants request appointments for legal processing. He falsely accused the Biden administration of admitting 13,000 convicted murderers — a number that in fact reflects several decades of migration and includes people in federal or state custody.

He also repeatedly praised predominantly White countries such as Denmark, Norway and Sweden while emphatically warning against immigrants from Congo in Africa. And he again said migr

Insulin Price Cap of $35 Takes Hold

Jan. 4, 2024 -- The price of insulin was capped this week by the last of the major three suppliers, meaning more Americans are now paying no more than $35 for the diabetes treatment. . . .

Congress, the White House, and others have pressured drug makers to lower their prices on insulin, which is relatively cheap to produce. Eli Lilly and Sanofi announced they would cap their prices at $35 after President Joe Biden called on drugmakers to do so last year.

Medicare enrollees now pay no more than $35 due to Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

6ixStringJack, you have failed the fact check. The Trumptards lie so freely in real life because they don't get knocked down and kicked in the head until dead when they lie. Lying becomes habitual, as it has with Trump.

I know for a fact that insulin is far more than $35.

This entire story is a big fat hoax and has been since the beginning.

I've got a big fat stack of receipts over the last year and a half to prove it.

And on top of that, Diabetics need a LOT more than just insulin, and none of the prices of those other things have gone down a single penny either.

Another good story ruined by an eyewitness.

Now that your bullshit is out of the way...

6ix, you get supplies from Indiana, right? A Trumptard controlled state, right? Until the Federal government sells supplies directly to people living in Indiana, the Trumptards controlling Indiana also control supply costs:

Most Medicaid enrollees receive insulin for free or at a significantly reduced cost. However, each state makes its own determination about which diabetes medications and supplies are covered through its Medicaid program. For more information about what medications and supplies are covered in your state, please contact your state Medicaid agency.

J.D. Vance Won the Debate. But Tim Walz Got the Clip.

z-aca-climate-change-china-abortion.html

At the very end of the debate, though, Walz seemed to get it—and was able to produce Vance’s worst moment of the night, and a defining takeaway for the Harris campaign to use.

In this case, Walz was paying attention when Vance, asked about Trump’s efforts to steal the 2020 election, did his usual cool and collected dissembling of it as all a big misunderstanding. Walz pounced, and effectively. While noting that the two might have “agreement” on some other issues, Walz said, “this is one that we are miles apart on. This was a threat to our democracy in a way that we had not seen. And it manifested itself because of Donald Trump’s inability to say, he is still saying, he didn’t lose the election. I would just ask that: Did he lose the 2020 election?”

“Tim, I’m focused on the future,” Vance said. “Did Kamala Harris censor Americans from speaking their mind in the wake of the 2020 COVID situation?”

“That is a damning non-answer,” Walz shot back.

For however many were watching this debate, Vance may have improved his image. He may have been able to settle some nerves about a second Trump administration. Walz may have been on his back foot the whole night. But in the end, Walz got the clip.

Still. Trump's record is that he will work for the USA as he sees best, and Kamala's is that she's a deep state puppet who will tirelessly in everyone's interests except ours.

As usual with the M$M, this is a misrepresentation. FEMA, and the Federal govt, is funded thru December. Here's what happened

Quote:

Days before Southeastern states were ravaged by Hurricane Helene—with catastrophic flooding affecting inland areas previously thought to be relatively protected from the increasingly frequent storms intensified by climate change—Congress left Washington without approving any additional funding for disaster relief.

Despite the knowledge that Helene would make landfall on Thursday, lawmakers embarked on a six-week recess for the preelection campaign sprint last Wednesday, after passing a bill keeping the government funded temporarily through December. Left out of the measure: billions of dollars in supplemental disaster funding. Although the temporary measure extended funding for the Federal Emergency Management Agency through December 20, the agency’s disaster relief fund is facing a $3 billion deficit by February. Rather than receiving the bulk of its money through the regular appropriations process, the relief fund is primarily funded through supplemental appropriations bills in response to major disasters—measures that come with their own complications.

https://newrepublic.com/article/186576/congress-helene-relief-efforts-
fema

It sounds to me like the REAL problem is the way FEMA is "usually" funded, i.e. piecemeal, on a disaster- to- disaster basis, rather than receiving a regular yearly budget.

Given that, it was extremely short sighted not to vote for ADDITIONAL funding, knoeing that disaster was bearing down on eastern states. Also, we should expect more and more climate related disasters bc of global climate shift.

Quote:

THGR And now it's, please Mr. President, can we have some money. Actually, can we please have lots and lots of money.
Well, there is enough $$ in the FEMA budget for them. It's the next disaster that gets shorted.

Yeah, fuck those who voted against additional funding.

*****

FEMA is a large, lumbering agency, very slow on its feet in providing immediate aid like rescue, water, food, shelter, and utility restoration. That usually seems to be handled by county and state firefighters (rescue), police, and relief agencies; and utility consortia. Maybe the best thing FEMA can do is help fund local/ county rescuers and beef up emergency preparedness on the front end, and low cost loans and grants on the back end.

Not really sure how that would work best, but something to think about.

From the People Who Brought You Project 2025: Manufactured Evidence of Voter Fraud

While the Heritage Foundation has previously spread disinformation about purported noncitizen voting, the organization has now turned to desperate measures in search of nonexistent voter fraud.

By Jasleen Singh | September 10, 2024

ught-you-project-2025-manufactured-evidence-voter-fraud

The DC-based Heritage Foundation has long spread disinformation about elections, claiming there is widespread voter fraud despite ample evidence to the contrary. More recently, it has gained attention for its authoritarian and antidemocratic Project 2025 plan for a second Trump administration.

Ahead of this fall’s election, Heritage has been at the forefront of pushing the lie that noncitizens are registering and voting in significant numbers, laying the groundwork for election deniers to use in case the results don’t go their way.

Now its efforts to undermine trust in elections have taken a dangerous new turn — a boots-on-the-ground approach to fish for voter fraud where there is none. In July, men working with Heritage knocked on the doors of suspected noncitizens in an apartment complex outside Atlanta, asking about the residents’ citizenship status and whether they are registered to vote. The pair misrepresented themselves as being with a company that assists Latinos with navigating the election system and secretly videotaped their interactions.

Several of the people said they were noncitizens and had registered, which the Heritage Foundation touted as supporting its false claims on the topic — but according to state investigators, the New York Times reported, there is no record of any of these people being registered. At least one of the people recorded told investigators that she was just giving answers she hoped would make the two men go away.

But Heritage posted the videos to its website and claimed that based on a mere 7 people, 14 percent of noncitizens in Georgia were registered to vote — an estimated 47,000 people. It’s a ludicrous assertion. The office of Georgia’s Republican secretary of state dismissed the video as a “stunt.”

Yeah. I read that one too after posting the long list of Alt-Left articles last night.

He got the clip alright.

And after 2 minutes of using Kamala's go-to "I was born in a middle class family" line, the moderator actually did her fucking job and asked him the question again about why he lied about being in Hong Kong in the Tiananmen Square protests. He "misspoke" and he's a "knucklehead".

What he is, is a big fat fucking liar about everything, like most politicians. But unlike most other politicians, he's no good at it. And the lies are just so dumb and easily disprovable. Everything from stolen valor to lying about never using more than black pepper on his "white guy tacos".

Jack Smith’s Big New Jan. 6 Brief Is a Major Indictment of the Supreme Court

Trump’s detailed plot to overturn the results of the election was brazen and a major threat to American democracy. Because of it, even today, millions of Trump supporters believe the last election was stolen, and that primes the public for new attempts at subversion.

And now perhaps the most important case in American history may never get to a jury and the American public will never get a chance to learn about this evidence and a jury’s judgment of this evidence before they consider returning Donald Trump to office.

GOVERNMENT’S MOTION FOR IMMUNITY DETERMINATIONS

The defendant asserts that he is immune from prosecution for his criminal scheme to overturn the 2020 presidential election because, he claims, it entailed official conduct. Not so. Although the defendant was the incumbent President during the charged conspiracies, his scheme was fundamentally a private one. Working with a team of private co-conspirators, the defendant acted as a candidate when he pursued multiple criminal means to disrupt, through fraud and deceit, the government function by which votes are collected and counted—a function in which the defendant, as President, had no official role. In Trump v. United States, 144 S. Ct. 2312 (2024), the Supreme Court held that presidents are immune from prosecution for certain official conduct— including the defendant’s use of the Justice Department in furtherance of his scheme, as was alleged in the original indictment—and remanded to this Court to determine whether the remaining allegations against the defendant are immunized. The answer to that question is no. This motion provides a comprehensive account of the defendant’s private criminal conduct; sets forth the legal framework created by Trump for resolving immunity claims; applies that framework to establish that none of the defendant’s charged conduct is immunized because it either was unofficial or any presumptive immunity is rebutted; and requests the relief the Government seeks, which is, at bottom, this: that the Court determine that the defendant must stand trial for his private crimes as would any other citizen.

Economists agree another Trump term would ruin the US economy — will voters listen?

By Paul Bledsoe | 10/02/24 7:00 AM ET

Trump’s tariffs are “economic proposals that can actually cause inflation and put you into a recession – at the same time,” says David Kelly, chief global strategist at JPMorgan Asset Management, calling them a “perfect stagflation machine.”

The deeply conservative National Interest publication says “Trump’s tariffs would be a disaster for America, sparking 20 percent inflation or more for many goods and burdening average consumers with high costs.”

The conservative Peterson Institute for International Economics estimates Trump’s plans could cost the average household $2,600 a year, with low-income Americans suffering most.

The Financial Times points out that Trump’s proposals are similar to the protectionist Smoot Hawley Tariff Act passed by Congress in the 1930s that helped prolong the Great Depression. The Times calls the Trump’s plans “a poison pill for the American people, the US economy and the world.”

Trump just keeps upping the ante, making his tariffs larger and worse. He now says they could be up to 20 percent across the board and 60 percent for China; if countries planned to reduce their dependence on the dollar, they could be hit with 100 percent tariffs “as punishment.”

Trump’s proposals would also skyrocket the U.S. debt — The Penn Wharton Budget Model concluded that his policies would add $5.8 trillion in deficits over 10 years. No wonder The Economist magazine echoes the National Interest, finding “Trump’s tariff plans would be disastrous for America.”

On top of all this, Trump has made explicit threats to the Federal Reserve’s independence, which is a lynchpin to America’s global economic leadership. The ex-president has repeatedly demeaned respected Fed Chairman Jerome Powell, questioning whether Powell was a bigger “enemy” of America than Chinese leader Xi Jinping.

On the whole, “economists of all stripes agree that Trump’s agenda represents a far more radical extension of the policies introduced during his term in office between 2017 and 2021,” as the Financial Times notes.

David Frum writes:

I’ve known Vance for 15 years. In that time, I’ve witnessed many reinventions of the Vance story, heard many different retellings of who he is and what he believes. Last night, he debuted one more retelling. His performance of the role was well executed. The script was almost entirely fiction. Yet theater reviews aside, three issues of substance stayed with me.

The first is that Vance truly is no friend of Israel’s.

The evening opened with a question about yesterday’s Iranian missile barrage. This question presented Vance with a trap. On the one hand, Vance’s party wants to criticize the Biden-Harris administration as weak on defense, soft on Iran. On the other hand, Vance is himself intensely hostile to U.S. alliances. He has led the fight to deny aid to Ukraine. He keeps company with conspiracy theorists who promote anti-Semitism. Vance managed that contradiction in the debate mostly by evading the question about what the U.S. might do to support Israel. Israel’s actions, he said, were a matter for Israel to decide; beyond that, he had nothing to say.

But the trick in evading a question is that the evasion works only if it goes unnoticed. This evasion does not. If you care about Israel, what you heard was nothing where there needed to be something. He offered no solidarity with the Israeli families who had spent the evening in bomb shelters because of the most massive country-to-country ballistic-missile attack in the history of the world. No friendship, no sympathy, for the state of Israel. Above all, what Vance delivered—Israel will do what Israel will do—was a message of abandonment, not a message of support. If you wondered what kind of voice Vance would be in the Situation Room when Israel is under threat, now you know: not a friend.

The second enduring impression is that Vance has thoroughly analyzed the Republican problem on abortion and decided that the only option is to lie his way out.

When the Trump Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade in 2022, it opened the door to a new regime of state-level policing and punishment of American women. After this year’s election, Republicans may or may not have the votes in Congress to pass a national abortion ban. That’s not the most important question, however. The most important question is: Will a Republican administration use executive power to aid Republican states in their surveillance of American women? Vance’s own record on that is emphatic: Yes, he will, and, yes, he has.

Onstage, Vance disavowed his record. He professed support for generous investment in maternal health and child nutrition. But his record has not disappeared because he denied it. Vance’s actual preferred health policy is to restore to health insurers the right to treat people with preexisting conditions differently—to do less risk-sharing, not more, even if that leaves many Americans without affordable insurance. Women and children face more health risks than able-bodied men. Vance’s policies are the direct opposite of Vance’s slogans.

American women have had their privacy and autonomy ripped away from them—and Vance offered nothing to protect them. He was able to purr his way past his own cat-lady comments. But if American women were wondering, What happens to us under a Trump-Vance administration?, they have their answer: Your sex life and reproductive rights will be subject to government control in a way it has not been for half a century.

The third enduring impression is that Vance remains all in on Trump plots to overthrow the election. At the podium last night, Vance refused to accept the results of the 2020 election. That’s not just a lie about history. It’s a threat to the future.

Right now, Republicans in key states are working to bend the law to convert voting defeats into Electoral College victories. They hope to disenfranchise unwanted voters, to disqualify unwanted votes, to use a bag of old Jim Crow tricks and some new ones to defeat the people’s

Special Counsel Says Trump Committed ‘Private Crimes’ in Bid to Stay in Power

Prosecutors’ submission of evidence says Trump was unconcerned about Vice President Pence’s safety on Jan. 6, 2021

By C. Ryan Barber and Sadie Gurman | Oct. 2, 2024 8:04 pm ET

https://www.wsj.com/politics/elections/special-counsel-says-trump-comm
itted-private-crimes-in-bid-to-stay-in-power-8697e1e8

Special Counsel Jack Smith, seeking to kick-start the federal prosecution of Donald Trump on election-interference charges, laid out a 165-page road map for allegations that the former president “resorted to crimes” to remain in power after losing the 2020 election.

The filing, unsealed Wednesday in a Washington, D.C., trial court, amounted to a defense of the case even after a recent Supreme Court ruling that conferred broad immunity on presidents for official acts at the core of their constitutional powers. Smith’s team asserts that Trump’s “scheme was fundamentally a private one,” leaving him open for prosecution.

The Republican presidential nominee has pleaded not guilty and accused Smith of ignoring the high court. A Trump campaign spokesman, Steven Cheung, called the court filing “falsehood-ridden.”

“This entire case is a partisan, Unconstitutional Witch Hunt that should be dismissed entirely, together with ALL of the remaining Democrat hoaxes,” Cheung said.

Here are some highlights from the filing:

‘You still have to fight like hell’

Flying aboard Marine One after Election Day, Trump told his family that “it doesn’t matter if you won or lost the election. You still have to fight like hell,” according to a White House aide who overheard the remarks on the president’s helicopter.

The aide, identified as an assistant to the president and director of Oval Office operations, “happened to overhear this comment, but wasn’t participating in the conversation,” prosecutors said.

“The statement is plainly private,” prosecutors wrote, in defense of using such evidence at trial. “It was exclusively about the election and the defendant’s determination, as a candidate, to remain in power whether he won or lost.”

‘0-32 on our cases’

In December 2020, Trump amplified a false claim that election workers at State Farm Arena in Atlanta had committed misconduct by counting “suitcases” of fraudulent votes. The claim was disproved publicly and directly to Trump, prosecutors said. But still the president pushed fraud claims and urged the Georgia attorney general to look at them again “because we’re running out of time.”

On the day of Trump’s call with the state attorney general, his campaign staff acknowledged that the fraud claim involving State Farm Arena was baseless. And they emailed one another about the fact that television networks might decline to run campaign advertisements promoting it.

“When our research and campaign legal team can’t back up any of the claims made by our Elite Strike Force Legal Team, you can see why we’re 0-32 on our cases,” one campaign adviser wrote, according to Smith’s brief. “I’ll obviously hustle to help on all fronts, but it’s tough to own any of this when it’s all just conspiracy s—beamed down from the mothership.”

‘So what?’

Trump’s Twitter post on Jan. 6 attacking then-Vice President Mike Pence for refusing to block President Biden’s win spurred Capitol rioters to threaten Pence, prosecutors said. An aide rushed into Trump’s dining room to inform him that Pence had been taken to a secure location, hoping that Trump would take action to ensure the vice president’s safety. Trump instead only looked at the aide and said, “So what?” according evidence cited in Smith’s filing.

Prosecutors said that exchange further revealed “the private nature of his desperate conduct as a candidate, rather than a President.”

An ‘honest assessment’

Many people in Trump’s orbit tried to persuade him that he had lost and that his baseless claims of widespread fraud wouldn’t hold up in court. In one newly disclosed conversation, one of Trump’s lawyers told him the

9/3 - 9/4 had Harris up +2

Two things seem to go together about bosses I have worked for: The good ones, who are inevitably psychologically stable and capable of operating competently under stress, take good care of their people and their own health. The bad bosses, and Trump would be one of them, do not take care of themselves and they are not mentally stable at work. The bad bosses get fat (that's Trump), catch venereal diseases (that's Trump), and have addictions (alcohol, sex, drugs, gambling, etc.) (Trump, one more time) and they come flying apart when under even mildly stressful conditions (Trump, again).

I have had several bosses die on the job. Funny how all of them were bad bosses, just like Trump. We employees were glad to see the bad bosses dead, buried and no longer in a position to fuck up the job. With bad bosses, everything is the worst problem, exactly how Trump handled being President, always in Crisis Mode, never calm and quiet or rational.

Why Did Justice Alito (appointed January 31, 2006) Teach Law With A Man Who Tried to Overturn the Election?

Mark Martin floated fringe theories to keep Trump in power. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito taught with him — even after January 6.

On the evening of January 6, 2021, retired North Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark Martin had a nine-minute conversation with former President Donald Trump. This call followed weeks of efforts by Martin to find any legal means to keep Trump in power, during which he peddled fringe theories of election fraud and constitutional law to state officials and the Supreme Court.

Just 20 days after the insurrection, Martin had another intimate audience with another powerful right-winger: He taught a three-day seminar on constitutional law with U.S. Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito for Regent University Law School in Virginia, where Martin was the dean at the time.

This link between a Supreme Court justice and such a close legal adviser to Trump’s Big Lie efforts has not been reported previously, and it adds to mounting questions about Alito’s sympathy for Trump heading into the election.

Despite evidence at the time that Martin was part of the Trump campaign’s legal brain trust and fed Trump radical ideas about the Constitution, Alito taught the three-day seminar with him again in 2022.

Martin and Alito did not respond to The Intercept’s questions for this story.

“It was and continues to be a shock to the system knowing that the upper echelons of the legal community used their legal talents to subvert the will of the people,” said Gabe Roth, executive director of Fix the Court, “and that Supreme Court justices of all people are friends with these individuals.”

As November approaches, it looks likely that the Supreme Court will play a significant role in deciding whether Trump returns to the White House. And out of nine people on the country’s highest bench, one of them decided to teach alongside a lawyer who helped orchestrate the Big Lie’s legal strategy.

The Reason Netanyahu and Putin Both Want a Trump Victory

Vladimir Putin and Benjamin Netanyahu both want Donald Trump to win so they can prolong and intensify their brutal wars.

By James Risen | October 3 2024, 4:39 p.m.

https://theintercept.com/2024/10/03/netanyahu-putin-israel-russia-trum
p-election
/

Netanyahu knows that if Trump wins, he will give Israel a green light to conduct a far more brutal campaign in Gaza, southern Lebanon, and the West Bank than he has during the Biden administration. While Biden has called for limits on Netanyahu’s conduct of the war, he has ultimately not stood in Israel’s way despite a growing groundswell of opposition to the war within the party. Whether that voter pressure might eventually push Harris to put more limits on Israel is an open question. But under no circumstances will Trump pressure Netanyahu to agree to a ceasefire and will never demand that Israel agree to the creation of a Palestinian state. Trump will endorse Netanyahu’s push for Israeli control over all remaining Palestinian territory. Many Israelis now want Trump to win in order to allow for a more aggressive Israeli military campaign; a September poll found that 58 percent of Israelis would vote for Trump if they could.

For Netanyahu, escalating the war into a regional conflict against Hezbollah and Iran also provides an October surprise designed to damage Democratic chances in the U.S. election.

Meanwhile, Putin’s war against Ukraine will remain in limbo until the U.S. election is decided. If Trump wins, he will almost certainly withdraw U.S. support for Ukraine, and Putin will be free to mount an even more aggressive military campaign. Trump is also likely to reduce or end the U.S. commitment to NATO, leaving the Baltic states and other countries in Eastern Europe under an increasing threat from Russia.

Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ukraine’s president, was in the United States last week, meeting with both Harris and Trump. The Biden administration pledged $8 billion in more aid to Ukraine, while Trump, who has repeatedly criticized Zelenskyy, pouted and nearly canceled a meeting with the Ukrainian leader.

When they did finally meet, Trump made a point of saying that he has a “very good relationship” with Putin. Trump’s pro-Russian running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance, also attacked Zelenskyy for touring an ammunition factory in Pennsylvania where the Ukrainian president thanked the workers for supplying shells for the Ukrainian military. Vance was petulant because Zelenskyy toured the factory with the governor of Pennsylvania, who happens to be a Democrat.

In fact, it is no secret that Trump, Vance, and the MAGA cult that now dominates the Republican Party support Putin and want Russia to win the war and conquer Ukraine. Vance is part of the Christian nationalist base of the party, which loves Putin largely because he has cracked down on gay rights.

For his part, Putin sees Trump as his puppet who will meekly stand by while he conquers Ukraine and rebuilds the Russian empire in Eastern Europe.

Putin is once again working to help Trump win, and just as he did in 2016, he is using the internet to do it. Russian disinformation designed to help Trump is accelerating in the weeks leading up to the election.

Feds say there’s no money left to respond to hurricanes — after FEMA spent $1.4B on illegal alien invaders

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas set off outrage Wednesday when he told reporters that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) “does not have the funds” to see Americans through the rest of this Atlantic hurricane season — after the agency spent more than $1.4 billion since the fall of 2022 to address the migrant crisis.

“We are meeting the immediate needs with the money that we have,” Mayorkas said during a press gaggle on Air Force One en route to tour damage from Hurricane Helene in South and North Carolina.

“We are expecting another hurricane hitting,” he added. “We do not have the funds. FEMA does not have the funds to make it through the season and what — what is imminent.”

...

The December 2022 funding bill authorizing spending on migrants vaguely described the purpose as for “providing shelter and other services to families and individuals encountered by the Department of Homeland Security.”

A relatively paltry $4 million has been paid directly to families and individuals in the week since Hurricane Helene ravaged the Southeast, killing at least 202 people and causing severe flooding damage from Florida to North Carolina, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said Thursday.

Department of Homeland Security Announces $380 Million in Additional Funding to Communities Receiving Migrants
Release Date: August 28, 2024

DHS continues to provide unprecedented resources to support border & interior communities

WASHINGTON – Today, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), announced the allocation of over $380 million through the Shelter and Services Program (SSP). Through the SSP, DHS directly supports communities that are providing critical support such as food, shelter, clothing, acute medical care, and transportation to noncitizens recently released from DHS custody and awaiting their immigration court proceedings. FEMA, in coordination with CBP, is administering these SSP grants with state, local and tribal governments as well as nongovernmental organizations to help prevent the overcrowding of short-term CBP holding facilities. This funding augments the $259.13 million in SSP grants that DHS distributed in April 2024.

The news ain't good, and most of it is coming from Alt-Left Media.

Tim Walz has a problem misspeaking.

Since being tapped as Kamala Harris’ running mate, the folksy, plain-speaking Minnesota governor has had to explain a growing number of inaccurate statements — and at times embellishments — about his past. They range from comments about his military service to his visit to Hong Kong more than three decades ago to clarifying that his family didn’t specifically use in vitro fertilization.

It’s unclear whether Walz’s verbal errors will undercut his credibility with voters. But the need to continually clean up those claims could politically hurt Walz and Harris, who are locked in a tight race with Donald Trump and JD Vance. And in some cases, key members of Harris’ circle weren’t aware of some of the inaccurate statements until they became public despite the vetting process, according to four people familiar with the conversations who were granted anonymity to discuss the matter.

It's called LIES.

If that were Trump, everybody knows you wouldn't have a problem saying that word 10,000 times from now until Election Day.

Quote:

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz had an awkward moment at Tuesday’s vice presidential debate when moderator Margaret Brennan asked him to respond to a report that he was not in Hong Kong during the Tiananmen Square protests in 1989, contradicting a claim he has made on multiple occasions.

Walz initially responded by sharing various unrelated details of his past as a teacher and a politician and describing himself as “a knucklehead at times,” but he did not acknowledge the specific discrepancy: Though Walz did travel to Hong Kong and China later that year, he did not arrive in either country until months after the protests. Pressed again by Brennan, he then said, “I got there that summer, and misspoke on this.” But then, confusingly, he proceeded to seemingly reverse his clarification: “I was in Hong Kong and China, during the democracy protests, went in.”

The strange pattern continued at a campaign stop in Pennsylvania the next day. Walz both admitted again that he had mi

Also, bad bosses rage and strike their subordinates, who work around the lunatic-in-charge to solve complex problems beyond the boss' comprehension. (That is also Trump.)

Well, first of all, if Harris is such a GOOD boss, why does she suffer 90-95% staff turnover everywhere she goes?, And that includes her current stint as VP as well as her previous Presidential campaign. The complaints have to do with her being indecisive and constantly blaming, criticizing, and undercutting her staff whenevrr anything goes wrong, which is often.

If you're going to criticize Trump, at least harp on something where he is demonstrably worse than she is.

Secondly, I've had bosses who were a lot like you: sociopaths who liked to make anyone with a spark of independence suffer thru deliberate, abusive harassment. They didn't threaten physical violence, like you do, but they sure loved to hold your job over your head. (Something you have bragged about often)

If you're going to criticize Trump, make it for something where he is worse than YOU are.

His original program was a success, starting with getting out of TTIP. Compare his four year record Biden*/ Harris'.

Here is a Trump proposal that doesn't make sense.

Quote:

... if countries planned to reduce their dependence on the dollar, they could be hit with 100 percent tariffs “as punishment.”

This is one of those hare-brained schemes that would probably do the opposite of intended. The reason why nations are looking to de-dollarize is because we have weaponized the dollar so badly with (illegal) sanctions and secondary sanctions, nobody wants to get caught on the wrong side of that. You can get a threat work with "use the dollar OR ELSE" tariffs, but you'll only provoke other nations to seek alternatives, and if there are any that develop, nations will bolt into that as soon as able.

Financial Times: US union members and leaders are not always on the same political page

The data behind the Teamsters’ refusal to endorse a candidate may be more widespread than we think

Quote:

The saying goes, “don’t ask the question if you don’t want to know the answer”. US labour leaders have taken that advice to heart, largely declining to poll their membership on what political positions their unions should take. The problem is that, for many of them, their own progressive instincts are often woefully disconnected from the views of their members.

Public polling typically shows union members are only slightly to the left of the general public. Nearly three-quarters of potential private-sector union members, who work full-time in non-supervisory roles, say they would prefer organisations to stay out of politics and focus only on the workplace. Among those who say they would not vote to join a union, “union political involvement” is the top reason cited. Still, the labour movement’s leftward tilt survives on the circular logic that unions support Democrats, which goes to show the Democratic party is the pro-worker one, so that’s who they support.

At least, it survived until last month, when the International Brotherhood of Teamsters took the extraordinary step of releasing its own extensive internal polling data to explain its decision not to endorse a presidential candidate. Among Teamsters members, Donald Trump led Kamala Harris by more than 25 points.

What would the margin be among the autoworkers, steelworkers or carpenters, whose unions all endorsed Harris? It seems likely that Trump would have been the pick of many of them — at least, that should be the presumption until their unions conduct and release polling of their own.

Still, the labour leaders may not care. Again, look to the Teamsters. While the national organisation declined to issue an endorsement, many regional and local councils have done so. In Florida, the polling indicates that Teamsters members would prefer to see their union endorse Trump over Harris by 63 per cent to 35 per cent. Every single Teamsters council in Florida endorsed Harris anyway.

This election is so over...

My guess is that the polling in 2024 is even worse than it was the last two election cycles and when we all wake up on November 6th nobody who voted for Harris is going to have a fucking clue about what just happened. My guess is also that Kamala Harris' actual numbers right now aren't really any better than Joe Biden*'s were before they performed a coup on the person that the Democrats voted for, which is to say this election is still going to be the blowout that it was going to be 3 months ago before we were all thrust into the most chaotic election season ever inflicted upon the American People.

Will they finally wake the fuck up and realize that the media has been lying to them about this, just how they lie to them about everything else?

Doubtful.

We'll have 4 years of faulty logic, reasoning, and chronic crybabyism... all egged on by the main source of MSNBC and the likes of $30-Million-A-Year-Talking-Heads like Rachel Maddow. Just like we witness every single time.

And then JD Vance is going to destroy whoever they try to run against them in 2028 because Democrats don't have anybody good to run, let alone a deep bench to draw from. Any decent Democrat politician that the people would vote for who haven't already been kicked out like RFK and Gabbard will have defected from the Democratic Party by then and either announced themselves as Independent or even switch sides entirely.

We are finally witnessing the death of the current form of the Democratic Party.

That's a great thing, and it was a long time coming. Not just for Trump voters, but every single American Citizen.

We NEED at least 2 political parties to survive as a free nation. And my hope is that by 8 years from now all of the NeoCons will finally be ousted, as well as the evil fake-progressive activists like Nancy Pelosi who has

Deny, attack, reverse – Trump has perfected the art of inverted victimhood

October 4, 2024

https://attentiontotheunseen.com/2024/10/04/deny-attack-reverse-trump-
has-perfected-the-art-of-inverted-victimhood
/

Early this year Sidney Blumenthal wrote:

Time after time, with predictable regularity, never missing a beat, Donald Trump proclaims his innocence. He always denies that he has done anything wrong. The charge does not matter. He is blameless. But this is only the beginning of the pattern. Then, he attacks his accusers, or anyone involved in bringing him to account, usually of committing the identical offense of which he stands accused.

But it is not enough for him to lash out. Then, he declares himself to be the victim. Whatever it is, he is falsely accused. But his self-dramatization as the wounded sufferer is only half his story: he insists that whoever has accused him is in fact the offender. He emerges triumphant, the martyr, the truth-teller, courageously unmasking the real villain. J’accuse!

Trump’s pattern is textbook manipulation – literally. It has a precise name given to it after decades of academic research. Jennifer Freyd, now professor emerita of psychology at the University of Oregon, developed the theory over her career studying sexual assault, trauma and institutional betrayal. She named the process by which the perpetrator seeks to avoid accountability Darvo – a strategy with the elements of denial, attack, and reversal of victim and offender.

“I named the idea in the 1990s,” Freyd told me. “People can deny an accusation without resorting to Darvo. Why not just say, ‘I’m disturbed by what you’re saying, it doesn’t comport with what I remember, these are important issues, I want to understand.’ You can stick to a firm denial without being a victim. But the viciousness of the attack is intended to be silencing.”

Freyd observes: “The people who use Darvo are different from the people who don’t … It’s a red flag.”

Trump’s behavior in the E Jean Carroll case has been a classic exhibit. The defamation case was brought after Trump said she was “totally lying”, explaining that “she’s not my type”, about her description of his sexual assault of her in a book and a New York magazine article. He issued a formal statement from the White House on 19 July 2019: “If anyone has information that the Democratic Party is working with Ms Carroll or New York magazine, please notify us as soon as possible. The world should know what’s really going on. It is a disgrace, and people should pay dearly for such false accusations.”

All the elements of Darvo, his familiar pattern, were present in his deflection. He denied the incident occurred: “I’ve never met this person in my life.” He attacked her: “Shame on those who make up false stories of assault to try to get publicity for themselves or sell a book or carry out a political agenda.” And he turned the tables to make himself the victim and her the aggressor deserving of punishment: “People should pay dearly for such false accusations.”

This is pretty fucking blatant at this point. Democrats have taken it way too far this time and their entire house of cards is falling.

You can only push all of this when people are feeling safe and they've got enough money to be able to binge watch netflix. That was all ruined in 4 short years of intentional mismanagement.

It's all fun and games when we're talking about gay robot dogs in every Disney movie, but now we're talking about as-of-yet countless American citizens lives being ruined to win an election. Two elections in a row.

If the Establishment could get away with killing everyone in Rural NC, they would do it. But using an event like this to just allow them to die and/or just leave them ruined for the next month so they can't vote is the next best thing.

There is a cure for paranoia.

What causes paranoia?

Researchers don’t know the exact cause of paranoia. But they think certain factors may contribute to it, including:

• Childhood trauma, especially bullying, and victimization.

• Environmental factors, like low socioeconomic status and social isolation.

• Intense or chronic stress.

What are the possible complications or risks of not treating paranoia?

If paranoia becomes long-lasting or more severe, it can cause significant distress and lead to issues like:

• Difficulty maintaining relationships.

• Job loss.

• Isolation.

• Anxiety and depression.

Because of this, it's important to seek help if you or someone you know has persistent paranoia.

Another wackadoodle belief from Signym. These untruths don't arise naturally, but are cultivated for a purpose:

I Lost My Family To A Terrifying Religious Group. Now It's Happening Again — With Trump.

"I knew something ominous had crept into our lives — and I had no idea how to make it stop."

By Cyd Chartier | Oct 4, 2024, 06:30 AM EDT

In 1974, amid the resignation of President Richard Nixon and the final years of the Vietnam War, my parents became swept up by an apocalyptic, fundamentalist religious organization called The Move of God. I was 15.

I initially thought their involvement with The Move would be simply a passing phase, like my mother’s sudden and ultimately failed plan a few years earlier to move the family to Australia, or her determination on another occasion to win a jackpot by solving a scavenger hunt sponsored by a local AM radio station. I remember crowding with my siblings into the backseat of our Ford Fairlane while Mom zipped around Topeka chasing down clues. She often entertained big ideas that led to nothing, so I didn’t immediately worry about her latest flight of fancy.

Granted, the holy roller prayer meetings I witnessed in our living room that spring, complete with praying in tongues, witnessing and dancing around in praise of Almighty God, were, to this high schooler, outlandish and supremely embarrassing. I couldn’t imagine my parents would carry on like this for long.

That’s what I believed would happen until the day I heard the disembodied voice of Sam Fife, the defrocked Baptist minister and founder of The Move of God claiming he would never die. In angry rants emitting from the tinny-sounding speakers of a cassette player Mom kept on the kitchen counter, Fife warned that demons roamed the earth in search of human hosts. These proxy devils, he said, existed everywhere and could inhabit any human being. More than a little shaken, I asked my mother about Fife’s strange monologue.

“Shhhh. I’m listening,” Mom said, waving her hand at me as if she were swatting away flies.

When she reached across the Formica countertop to turn up the tape’s volume, I knew something ominous had crept into our lives — and I had no idea how to make it stop.

. . . in 2015, as I watched Donald Trump float down the Trump Tower escalator to announce his candidacy for the U.S. presidency, I felt a stab of recognition. Under the guise of a politician with a fake tan and bad haircut was an angry man, an arrogant man, a dark and dangerous man — a man so like Sam Fife that I immediately knew I was facing the same threat I had faced as a young woman all those years ago. Then, when Mom and our three younger siblings declared their enthusiastic support for Trump, I felt overcome by the terrifying possibility that my history was repeating itself. Only this time, the entire country would be at risk.

After he won the election, I saw more and more Fife whenever Trump opened his mouth. The lying, misogyny, apocalyptic language, fear-mongering and the enthusiastic embrace of conspiracy theories all set off ancient alarms inside of me.

True Americans (Trumptards are untrue) would not support a tax-cheater. Trump doesn't pay his taxes and so FEMA doesn't have money for hurricanes.

By the way, Signym, in past days, America has spent tens of trillions of dollars to stop Russia from taking over the world. And so America spends a few billion in the present day to stop Russia from taking over a little corner of the world in Ukraine.

Between 1940 and 1996, the U.S. spent at least $11.3 trillion in present-day terms on nuclear weapons development. Over half was spent on building delivery mechanisms for the weapon. $709 billion in present-day terms was spent on nuclear waste management and environmental remediation.

I voted today.

Dropped my absentee ballot straight into the post office outgoing main slot.

It felt great.

But when I first opened the three-page official ballot, I faced the usual helplessness.

I knew my choice for president, of course. But state tax collector? Which judges to vote to retain?

So here’s all you do:

1. Click BlueVoterGuide. https://bluevoterguide.org/

2. Enter your address.*

3. Make your choices.

Try it — even right now, if you have a few minutes.

If you think it’s as helpful as I do, spread the word.

*But wait. First, just above the address field (and below the big 1), click “instructions.” You’ll see how to build your ballot, save it, print it, and share it with friends. (Not your real, official ballot, of course; but a way to remember what you plan to do inside the voting booth or when you vote by mail.)

I read, and I can't where, that FEMA is deliberately bolluxing local rescue efforts in order to interfere with the vote come November. The thought is that people in metro areas will be able to vote, while those in the hinterlands, where rescue efforts are being thwarted, will be too preoccupied just getting their feet under them to vote.

It would be the equivalent of trying to hold a vote in LA after a major earthquake.

You read my ass. How about some sites on those claims? I know, why don't you checkout the governor debunking the bullshit you spew? He says Biden and FEMA have offered all they've asked for.

Do you know the last time NC suffered a crisis Trump only gave them 1% of what they asked for. Did you know that? You're such a moron.
