Republicans remain convinced that they’re failing financially
Results from this week's YouGov poll:
60% of Republicans say they're worse off than a year ago even though the economy has boomed over the past 12 months:
• The prime age labor force participation rate is up 0.3 points to the highest level in 20 years
• Real GDP per capita is up 2.5%
• Real wages are up 1.5%
• Savings are up 5.7%
• Inflation is down 1.3 percentage points to 2.4%
• Real spending per person is up $1,100
At a guess, I'd say that no more than 10% of the population is worse off financially than they were a year ago. But 60% of Republicans think they are thanks to Fox News.

Republicans think everything is terrible
As long as I'm at it, here's a sampling of what Republicans think about various things according to YouGov:

Dancing to the Finish Line, Donald Trump Frees Us
We are finally freed from the task of deciding how to interpret the words that spill out of Donald Trump.
By Dahlia Lithwick | Oct 16, 2024 12:16 PM
For anyone who has dedicated the better part of the past decade to trying to affix meaning to the words spoken by Donald J. Trump, there is something transcendentally satisfying about the news that as of this week, there is nothing left to be parsed. There is just the dancing, and perhaps that can only be witnessed but never understood. At a town hall meeting in Oaks, Pennsylvania, this past weekend, the former president grew weary of his words and language and audience questions, and opted to just crank out the tunes and, well, boogie down for 39 minutes to a playlist of his own choosing.
It is conclusively clear that Trump’s words do not matter. Maybe the only thing that matters is the Dance.
Many Trump supporters appear to like him precisely because they actually don’t believe anything he says. The slippery incoherence is a feature, not a bug. And, as their pollsters noted, “in the latest New York Times/Siena College poll, 41 percent of likely voters agreed with the assessment that “people who are offended by Donald Trump take his words too seriously.” The character flaw now lies in those attempting to understand him, not in his inscrutability. And by those lights, the Dada of a dance recital in lieu of a town hall makes perfect sense.
If anyone asks why this presidential contest is so unbearably close, you can remind them that it’s because we’ve landed in the language-optional era of democracy, in which millions of voters who no longer believe in politics, or the media, or even the stability of language itself nevertheless find it soothing to watch their preferred candidate sway and grind to tunes for which we all, weirdly, know the words by heart. Whatever else has collapsed, the immutability of “It’s fun to stay at the Y-M-C-A” is the one thing we can all still rely upon. Words that signify nothing beyond the fact that words themselves have finally failed.

They're only polling the rich white Democrats.
Probably a good thing, since a lot of those "other" Democrats are finding a home right here with me.

Trump has a lead in the aggregate in all swing states except for Wisconsin now. Harris' lead in Wisconsin is only +0.3.
If the state polls look like that on Election day, the blowout is going to be even bigger than anticipated with the chronic historical Democrat bias in polls.

So, THG, what ARE the "generally accepted, fundamental aspects of human existence"?
Care to list them?
Since you can't list any policy reasons WHY I should vote for Kamala, or list America's interests, or - even more pointedly- America's problems, I suspect that you grabbed that phrase from an online definition but don't have a clue what it means, or even what you're trying to say.

Knowledge, morality and human values. And I used the term Nihilism to describe you and Jack because it fits you two like a glove. The proof of that is who you chose to champion vs. who I chose to champion.
It's that simple; comrade. It comes across in almost all your guys' posts that you lack these qualities.

Oh, I believe in knowledge, son. After all, I have a degree in chemistry and a minor in physics and was a working chemist my entire professional life..
My a priori ["nothing before"] assumptions are that we exist in a real world and that it is possible to learn about it. We will never know EVERYTHING bc our minds are limited, but we can get closer and closer to the truth (i.e. understanding the real world).
But unlike you, don't believe that "the authorities" have a lock on knowledge. After all, science is ... supposedly... the endeavor of ASKING QUESTIONS. And when you're talking about political authorities... well, they generally dont know shit from shinola, and their desire to stay in power gives them fundamental motivation to lie. Which, I have observed them doing over and over.

Funny comrade. I kept it simple and short. None of your rebuttals hold water. You support Putin who is wanted for committing war crimes against children. And oh my god so much more.
You also support Trump. So far, he has been convicted of sexual assault and 34 felonies. And comrade, he has many more felonies he is charged with that will end him when he loses the election. He was also ordered to pay a fine of millions for stealing money from his own charity and forced to shut it down. Forced to refund people and shut down Trump university because it was all a fraud. Trust me, it goes on.
I don't support either of these psychopaths, you two do. Like I said, you two do not possess any qualities that include knowledge, morals, or human values. You two are pigs.

Kamala Harris Is Not a Realist. I’m Voting for Her Anyway
The only realist choice in this year’s election is to reject Trump.
By Stephen M. Walt | October 16, 2024
Stephen M. Walt is a columnist at Foreign Policy and the Robert and Renée Belfer professor of international relations at Harvard University
https://foreignpolicy.com/2024/10/16/kamala-harris-realist-trump-elect
ion/?tpcc=recirc_latest062921
At this point, there might only be a few dozen undecided voters left in the United States, so writing a column to convince people to vote the right way may be pointless. But given that the election may come down to a few votes in some swing state, I’d feel bad afterward if I hadn’t done all I could. So here’s why I’m voting for Kamala Harris and why you should, too.
You might think a realist/restrainer like me would be leaning toward Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, especially given my dismay at how Biden and his colleagues have handled Gaza, the war in Ukraine, and some other foreign policy issues. Harris wasn’t responsible for those policies, but she has declined to say they were wrong when given the opportunity. Although her principal foreign policy advisor, Philip Gordon, has written sensible things about the limits of U.S. power and the folly of trying to remake whole regions in our image, there’s no sign that Harris’s own views on foreign policy lie outside the Beltway consensus or reflect a realist view of international affairs. By contrast, Trump and Vance say they want U.S. allies in Europe and Asia to bear more of the burden when it comes to their own defense, think it’s time to bring the war in Ukraine to a close, and regard the foreign policy “Blob” with skepticism if not outright contempt. That’s why some self-described realists are enamored with them, and you could easily conclude that I shared their view.
So why am I not ignoring Trump and Vance’s troubling deficiencies of character—which is putting it mildly—and planting a Trump-Vance sign in my yard? Let me count the ways.
First, as I noted repeatedly when Trump was president, he is not a realist, and you’re as likely to get sensible foreign policy from him as you were to get an education from Trump University. He is more accurately seen as a crude nationalist and unilateralist, and the “ism” that best captures him is narcissism. During his first term, he was better at garnering attention than making constructive diplomatic gains, which is why his reality show summits with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Chinese President Xi Jinping, and Russian President Vladimir Putin went nowhere. He didn’t end any “forever wars” during his first term, gave the Defense Department more money that it didn’t need, and was perfectly content firing missiles into foreign countries to kill leaders he didn’t like. He was impulsive, crude, inattentive, and incapable of forging a clear strategy and sticking to it, which is why his four years in office were devoid of genuine foreign-policy achievements. The much-ballyhooed Abraham Accords don’t count, as they helped lay the groundwork for the carnage that is now convulsing the Middle East, just as critics had warned. (That’s what you get when a president lets his unqualified son-in-law play diplomat in a volatile region.)
And let’s not forget that Trump allowed Iran to restart its nuclear program by leaving the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, abandoned the Paris climate accord, and weakened efforts to balance China by jettisoning the Trans-Pacific Partnership and picking fights with Asian allies instead. This is a foreign-policy record no serious realist should support. Nor would a realist think that sowing division and telling Americans to fear each other is the best way to strengthen the country, let alone make it great. Yet that is exactly what Trump has done throughout his career, and especially during this campaign.

THG: MAGA practices Nihilism. Your viewpoint is any viewpoint that rejects the generally accepted, fundamental aspects of human existence,
SIGNY: So, THG, what ARE the "generally accepted, fundamental aspects of human existence"?
Care to list them?
Since you can't list any policy reasons WHY I should vote for Kamala, or list America's interests, or - even more pointedly- America's problems, I suspect that you grabbed that phrase from an online definition but don't have a clue what it means, or even what you're trying to say.
But, yanno, if you want to take a stab at actually explaining what you mean, have at it.
In a while, if I have time, I will explain what you mean, even if you can't.
THG: Knowledge,
SIGNY: Oh, I believe in knowledge, son.
So, yeah... I don't respect bullshit masquerading as accepted wisdom.
THUGR: ...morality
SIGNY: I have a morals, son, and I have clearly stated them. All of our endeavors are for human benefit, sustainably. If we sacrifice, it's for some greater, or later, benefit. Not for shits and giggles. AFA how we treat each other, I'm a golden rule/ fairness kind of gal.
THUGR: ... human values.
SIGNY: No idea what you mean. Please explain.
You are championing a cabal that has relentlessly impoverished average Americans and bullied and tried to impoverish the rest of the world. All for the benefit of a vanishingly small number of people. They TALK about freedom and human rights, but they bring starvation and death.
What chaps your ass, son, is that I don't "believe" the established instituitons and authorities. Not in the political realm, anyway. Like the scientist that I am, I insist on some kind of validated evidence before accepting something as "fact". And even then, I'll change my mind if given better information.
You conflate "established authorities" with morals and knowldege. Thats a mistake.
THUGR: Funny comrade. I kept it simple and short. None of your rebuttals hold water. You support Putin who is wanted for committing war crimes against children. And oh my god so much more.
I don't "support" Putin. I call things as I see them:
Russia is going to win in Ukraine.
Putin has done many good things for Russia and Russians, and maybe we should try some of what he's done (rein in oligarchs, try officials for corruption, reindustrialize the economy)

The slaveowners would have remained in business and there was a high likelihood the slaveowners would have eventually conquered the USA, instead. Knowing what happened to the ex-slaves after the Civil War was completed, I would have taken the additional step of hanging all slaveowners just to make certain that somebody like Trump would never attempt another conquest.

I stopped being kind and generous to my Trumptards. The law allows me to discriminate. The results are that the Trumptards' lives fall apart. They have been harmed because I no longer help the Trumptards avoid the consequences of being fat, lazy, stupid, drunk, tax-cheating, incompetent, dishonest employees. I see why Trumptards vote for Trump. He is them. They are him.

A well-known example of widespread evil behavior in American history was slavery. The slaveowners (and those who were comfortable with slavery without the wealth to own slaves) even went to the extreme of killing non-slaveowners and attempted overthrow of their government. Afterward, the slaveowners (and wannabe slaveowners) never did rectify the evil they had done. And why would they? They couldn't admit that slavery was evil. It smelled great to them. No rotten meat odor coming from the ancient institution of slavery. These people with defective noses then set in motion a new system that mimicked slavery without the need to own the slaves. They couldn't smell the rot. The slave-owners flipped the script by accusing the victorious abolitionists of being evil, even going so far as approving when saintly Lincoln was murdered for thwarting evil.
From that past history, I don't find it at all unusual that a large number of Americans would support evil Donald Trump. They can't smell evil, not in themselves and certainly not is someone who stinks as bad as they do and has their shortcomings and defective thinking, including tax-cheating, dishonesty in business, deliberate misstating facts, gluttony, the whole long list of sins caused by having erratic self-control because, hey, America is all about getting high, not about working toward admirable purposes and goals.
In other words, about half of Americans want to live like Trump. And the other half would despise the Trumptards for how they live if they knew in detail the Trumptards' disgraceful private lives. See 6ix's addictions and cheating the government to gain benefits he doesn't deserve because he is a lazy turd.
Americans have a huge amount of detail on Trump's life. About half are not disgusted by those details since their own lives are just as evil. And how do they handle being evil people? The same way as the slaveowners did, by accusing the opposition of being evil. Signym does this in the purest form by accusing the Ukrainians of being evil. Typical for evil people to designate good people as the true evil.

What Elon Musk Really Wants
The Tesla and X mogul has long dreamed of redesigning the world in his own extreme image. Trump may be his Trojan horse.
By Franklin Foer | October 19, 2024
https://www.theatlantic.com/books/archive/2024/10/donald-trump-is-elon
-musks-trojan-horse/680309/
In Elon Musk’s vision of human history, Donald Trump is the singularity. If Musk can propel Trump back to the White House, it will mark the moment that his own superintelligence merges with the most powerful apparatus on the planet, the American government—not to mention the business opportunity of the century.
Many other titans of Silicon Valley have tethered themselves to Trump. But Musk is the one poised to live out the ultimate techno-authoritarian fantasy. With his influence, he stands to capture the state, not just to enrich himself. His entanglement with Trump will be an Ayn Rand novel sprung to life, because Trump has explicitly invited Musk into the government to play the role of the master engineer, who redesigns the American state—and therefore American life—in his own image.
Musk’s pursuit of this dream clearly transcends billionaire hobbyism. Consider the personal attention and financial resources that he is pouring into the former president’s campaign. According to The New York Times, Musk has relocated to Pennsylvania to oversee Trump’s ground game there. That is, he’s running the infrastructure that will bring voters to the polls. In service of this cause, he’s imported top talent from his companies, and he reportedly plans on spending $500 million on it. That doesn’t begin to account for the value of Musk’s celebrity shilling, and the way he has turned X into an informal organ of the campaign.
Musk began as a Trump skeptic—a supporter of Ron DeSantis, in fact. Only gradually did he become an avowed, rhapsodic MAGA believer. His attitude toward Trump seems to parallel his view of artificial intelligence. On the one hand, AI might culminate in the destruction of humanity. On the other hand, it’s inevitable, and if harnessed by a brilliant engineer, it has glorious, maybe even salvific potential.
Musk’s public affection for Trump begins, almost certainly, with his savvy understanding of economic interests—namely, his own. Like so many other billionaire exponents of libertarianism, he has turned the government into a spectacular profit center. His company SpaceX relies on contracts with three-letter agencies and the Pentagon. It has subsumed some of NASA’s core functions. Tesla thrives on government tax credits for electric vehicles and subsidies for its network of charging stations. By Politico’s tabulation, both companies have won $15 billion in federal contracts. But that’s just his business plan in beta form. According to The Wall Street Journal, SpaceX is designing a slew of new products with “national security customers in mind.”
Musk has only begun to tap the pecuniary potential of the government, and Trump is the dream. He rewards loyalists, whether they are foreign leaders who genuflect before him or supplicants who host events at his resorts. Where other presidents might be restrained by norms, Trump shrugs. During his first term, he discovered that his party was never going to punish him for his transgressions.
In the evolving topography of Trumpland, none of his supporters or cronies will have chits to compare with Musk’s. If Trump wins, it will likely be by a narrow margin that can be attributed to turnout. Musk can tout himself as the single variable of success.
It’s not hard to imagine how the mogul will exploit this alliance. Trump has already announced that he will place him in charge of a government-efficiency commission. Or, in the Trumpian vernacular, Musk will be the “secretary of cost-cutting.” SpaceX is the implied template: Musk will advocate for privatizing the government, outsourcing the affairs of state to nimble entrepreneurs and adroit technologists. That means there will be even more opportunities for his companies to score gargantuan contracts. So when Trump brags tha

Trump is historically a very poor negotiator. Early in his career he massively overpaid for a USFL team; the Eastern Shuttle; the Plaza Hotel; and his Atlantic City casinos. Then he went bankrupt. Since then he's overpaid for golf courses and hotels, which is why they make little to no money for him. His recent income has come mostly from The Apprentice and from licensing and management deals.
Donald Trump is full of stories about his negotiating prowess. Here are some examples.
1. John Deere: "I said, ‘If John Deere builds those plants (in Mexico), they’re not selling anything into the United States.’ They just announced yesterday they’re probably not going to build the plants, OK? I kept the jobs here.”
Reality: This simply never happened.
. . .
7. The Taliban, as told by Wesley Hunt: During these negotiations, Trump told Taliban leaders that he would kill them “if you harm a hair on a single American,” prompting the translator present with them to appear stunned. “And Trump goes, ‘Tell him. Just tell him what I said!’” Hunt said on The Sage Steele Show. “Reached into his pocket, pulled out a satellite photo of the leader of the Taliban’s home, and handed it to him, got up, and walked out the room.”
Reality: There's no record of this happening. The real story is that Trump was desperate to withdraw and negotiated an epically bad deal.

Babylon Bee: Democrats Wondering If It's Too Late To Go Back To Joe Biden
https://babylonbee.com/news/democrats-wondering-if-its-too-late-to-go-
back-to-joe-biden
U.S. — After watching Kamala self-immolate on national television, Democrats have begun wondering if it's too late to just go back to Joe Biden.
"He was at least able to answer some questions, occasionally," said strategist Neil Massey. "I mean Biden was like Winston Churchill compared to this word salad of vindictive psychopathy."
At publishing time, Democrats had decided that Biden was indeed too senile, but checked to see if perhaps Jimmy Carter was interested in a second term.
Harris Complains She Was Not Informed The Interview Would Include Questions
https://babylonbee.com/news/harris-complains-she-was-not-informed-the-
interview-would-include-questions
WASHINGTON, D.C. — In response to her testy interview last night, presidential candidate Kamala Harris has stepped forward to accuse Fox News of journalistic malpractice, claiming that the media company never informed her the interview would include questions.
According to Harris, the interview constituted an ambush unlike any she has ever faced in her legal or political career.
"Holistically speaking, me and my team, we were holistically not informed that this interview would include questions," Harris said as several journalists from ABC gave her a back massage and worked on editing her next interview. "It's absolutely terrible. Even CNN at least gave us the questions holistically in advance. These chauvinist pigs at Fox are completely taking advantage of a very strong, competent, fragile woman of color. Holistically disgraceful!"
While several aides have reportedly tried to calm Kamala down with offerings of Jack Daniels and Pinot Grigio, she has remained defiant.
"Joe never had to do anything like this! I shouldn't either!" Kamala shouted at Gayle Quare, a purple-haired intern. "Where's my shot glass??"
At publishing time, Kamala had demanded that the media atone for their heinous deed by applying some heat to Donald Trump instead of always picking on her like they do all the time.
THIS ELECTION IS OVER.

Trump: "Xi Jinping knows I’m fucking crazy"
The Wall Street Journal asks Donald Trump how he would persuade Xi Jinping to leave Taiwan alone:
“Oh, very easy,” the former president says.... “I would say: If you go into Taiwan, I’m sorry to do this, I’m going to tax you” — meaning impose tariffs — “at 150% to 200%.” He might even shut down trade altogether.
Mr. Gigot: “Would you use military force against a blockade on Taiwan?” Mr. Trump: “I wouldn’t have to, because he respects me and he knows I’m fucking crazy.”
I guess this is his all-purpose answer for everything. I wonder if Trump realizes that he can only do it once? Or that if he followed through we'd be short of gallium, antibiotics, and iPhones in pretty short order? Probably not.

Kamala Harris is likely to win in November:
My guess is that Trump's ceiling lies in his favorability rating: around 44-45%. Conversely, Harris's ceiling is everyone who doesn't view her unfavorably: around 52-53%.
My reasoning is simple: Trump is a very well-known quantity. The only people who will vote for him are those who actively approve of him. If you don't, or if you're still not sure after eight years, you just aren't going to vote for the guy.
Harris, conversely, is new on the scene for most people. Even if you're not sure you like her, it's a lightly held opinion. You might still vote for her.
This puts Harris ahead of Trump by 7-9 percentage points in potential support. I don't think Trump can overcome this in the next two weeks.

For the book tied to the movie, Trump gave an interview to the "Vindicating Trump" movie director/writer.
The Afterword from "Vindicating Trump"
An Exclusive Interview With Donald Trump
Q: The Democrats have a horrible candidate. They’ve got horrible policies. Usually when you’re in that situation, you think, how do I cheat? How do I cheat my way to victory? Now, I think it’s probably fair to say that in different elections, the cheating isn’t exactly the same. In 2020, they use one strategy, you know, the mules, in 2022, suddenly the tabulators don’t work in Maricopa County, suppressing the Republican vote. And my question is, are you confident that between the Trump campaign, between the RNC, the new RNC, that you got your eyes on this election and that you’ll be ready if the Democrats try to pull something.
Trump: You can never be too confident. I’d love to tell you I’m confident. But they cheat in many different ways. That’s all they’re good at. They’re not good in policy. They’re not good in government. They’re not good running things. They’re good at cheating in elections or they couldn’t get in. You can’t get in when you’re in favor of open borders. You can’t get in when you are in favor of things that are just so outlandish, so ridiculous. You know, no water coming out of your faucets, no water coming out of your shower. Men in women’s sports. You have to use electric cars. You know, you can’t win that way. You can’t win. You win only by cheating. So when you say, are you confident, I don’t even want to say that. I can say that we’re working very hard and spending a lot of money on stopping it. And the one thing that is, and even that is not conclusive, but too big to rig is a statement that we use. But if you take a look at Pennsylvania, I was so far up in Pennsylvania, then all of a sudden I’m like tied. I said, what happened? Now I tell my people, don’t help me with getting out the vote. We have all the votes we need. All I want you to do is guard the vote. When that vote comes in, make sure it’s not swamped. It’s not thrown out. Bad things don’t happen. They don’t drop ballots. And, as you know, this stuff happens. A lot of people don’t know it. But as you know, it happens and it happens at levels that nobody’s ever seen before. So now we have bad elections and we have bad borders. And those are the two things you have to have to have a great country. We don’t have either. We’re going to be focused very strongly, strongly on elections. But we have to get there first. We have to win. If we don’t win, we can’t fix that problem. We want to go to paper ballots. Do you know, paper ballots would cost 8 percent of what all of those fancy equipment costs. And they go out and they buy the most sophisticated equipment in the world. And then they say they’ll have the election result in nine days! If you get paper ballots, they read it off that night. France had mail in a while ago and they had a lot of fraud. Any time you have mail in ballots, you’re going to have massive fraud. And they went directly to paper ballots, so they had 38 million votes. It was all done by ten o’clock in the evening. And nobody complained. All paper ballots!
Q: I was going to ask you about this because one of the things that we expose in this film is that since we don’t have any kind of marking on a ballot, it doesn’t have a code, it doesn’t have a watermark, you can actually buy ballots. And by that I mean you can buy the legitimate ballot paper from the very people who make it. Then you can then go online and get or even request an absentee ballot. You can then copy the absentee ballots onto the paper and you’ve got a ballot. Then you can just make copies and you got multiple ballots.
Trump: That’s right. You’re 100 percent right. But that’s one of many things. People need to know we have very dishonest elections and we’ve got to straighten it out.
Q: There are going to be some Americans who have heard about the fraud, and they’ve heard about it going back now for a midterm election, the 2020 electi

But the analysis includes other possibilities that show far higher deficits under Trump. If his tariffs raised less money and there were higher costs for his mass deportations and tax breaks, the national debt could jump by $15.2 trillion.

The funny thing is, if you strip away national policy, I think Ted and I actually agree on a great majority of policy positions. He's so confused because he'll still be the first to call somebody he doesn't like a Nazi, but he has come out and said that he's strongly against things like CRT in the classroom. He doesn't EVER share an opinion on it because he's been conditioned not to, but I don't imagine he's at all on board with things like Drag Queen Story Hour either. There's a lot of topics that Ted just doesn't comment on at all and I could be wrong but I've got him pegged that it's because he personally doesn't agree with the Media Narrative on them either, but he wouldn't be a good little soldier for his party if he were to speak up out against them. The fact that he was so strong about his opinion on CRT in the classroom actually blew my mind a little bit when that happened.
20 years ago, or around the first time I started posting to this site, you could have arguments about Topic X, but be in complete agreement in another thread about Topic Y. You and I still do that all the time here, Sigs. And I appreciate that even if we say something shitty to each other that you hold no grudges about that outside of that particular thread just like me.
But after they were gifted with Trump, TPTB have been able to drive a hard wedge straight through the heart of the country with him. I still know people in real life who have nothing to do with each other just because of who they vote for. Some of them were really close before too. It's a really sad thing.
So when it's just two strangers online who don't agree on things, there's just no way to even have a real conversation. And because of my own honesty and how much I've said about my own life in the past, any time I'm getting somewhere I just get a past mistake thrown in my face for it. They certainly have me at an extreme advantage there, since I know nothing at all about either of them, let alone any of their own dark secrets.
BTW... If you've wondered why I don't talk about my family much anymore it's not because we don't still do stuff. I just don't like it when Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb start bringing up people I care about in their shitty tirades. I'd like them to keep that at just throwing my own bad decisions in my face and leaving my friends and family out of it, but knowing them like I do the only way I can get that outcome is by not talking about my relationships at all in this forum anymore. That's also a really sad thing.

The only material thing Trump accomplished is run up the National Debt and ignite inflation. Trump screwed America and the Trumptards blame Democrats because retards do NOT understand that there is a time delay between handing out free money to everybody and price gouging that follows months later when sellers all realize that Trumptards are still stupid and will pay whatever price increase sellers choose, until the money runs low.
Prices always increase until sellers have taken all of the dumbest buyers' money. Only then do prices stop rising. Retards never understood how Capitalism sets prices and never will. They have some vague notion of "Fair" prices while a true Capitalist sets prices to take the maximum amount from each buyer. There is nothing "Fair" about that.
Tax cuts and pandemic relief measures enacted during the Trump administration added $8.4 trillion to the national debt.

First, you hate America because you're a Russian troll. How's that you ask? All your posts suggest America is decadent and in decline.
Second, it doesn't matter what evidence is out there that disputes what you post, you ignore it. Why, because you are a Russian troll, and you hate America.

How about addressing the question: How am I immoral? How am I a "low life“?
I went to university and studied hard.
I did my best at every job I ever had, from telemarketer to grocery store cashier to technician to chemist. I have an honest day's work at whatever pay and whatever job.
I am the best wife and mother I know how to be.
Like SECOND continually trumpets, I pay my taxes! I don't cheat! And don't do drugs!
I don't overspend.
I am honest with others and myself. (Apparently this gets me in trouble with you!)
I do my best to understand the world around me, physically, ecnomically, politically, and socially ... and even militarily ... which TBH, altho important, bores me to tears (Apparently this gets me in trouble with you too!)
I care about my fellow Americans, all of humanity, and the environment.
I have worked most of my professional life working to improve the environment.
I want everyone to be prosperous and in control of their future.
So what's the problem?

YOU go to the effort to tell the world you are a horror and don't know it. I will hint at how that works for other horrors because using YOU as the only example, you would not understand. Example 1: Every slave-owner was "moral" in their own estimation. They lived free after losing their slaves (except the slave-owners killed in retribution by slaves and soldiers; not everybody believes that only the courts can decide who deserves punishment) but they were guilty of horrible behavior. Example 2: Every Nazi prison camp guard would declare they were highly moral. Their behavior was horrible but they didn't suffer and lived free after all their prisoners were dead or released. Example 3 (the one Signym will never understand): Every defender of Trump would say there is no final proof he is a crook, thief, rapist, tax cheater, nor that Trumptards are attracted to Trump because they do what he does and remain out of jail as Trump does.

Trump and his Trumptards will not admit what he is. And so long as they won't, they firmly believe they can't be convicted without their confession. Who else was like that? Nazi prison guards thought they were moral and most didn't get punished. (Guards should have remembered to burn the payroll records before the last day at work or else the Nazi hunters might find them when they are 95 years old.) All that happened to most of the guards was losing a high paying job. They found other work instead of incinerating prisoners. Slave-owners thought they were moral. The worst that happened to most of them is losing an unpaid work force. Instead, they had a minimum wage work force and no control of the Federal government and no way to make slavery legal, again. Trumptards think Trump and they are moral. (Trump's lawyers will keep him out of jail until the day he dies, therefore he is not guilty. Even if he is jailed, he is not guilty in their minds.) The worst punishment that can happen to Trump and his Trumptards is not controlling the entire Federal government and making not paying income taxes legal, again. The sad Trumptards won't have all their evil dreams come true.

Yes, I think America is decadent and in decline.
But if I truly hated America, I'd be advocating everything I thought was BAD for America, just to kill it off sooner
I'd be posting "Yeah! Run up the debt!"
Or, are you saying the massive indebtedness is GOOD for America?

Kamala Harris leads Trump by 24 points among recent deciders
From an Emerson poll a few days ago:
“Voters who made up their mind in the last month or week break for Harris, 60% to 36%,” Kimball said. “The three percent of voters who said they could still change their mind currently favor Harris, 48% to 43%.”
This gibes with my belief that most people who haven't already committed to Trump are likely to vote for Harris when they finally make a decision. We'll see.

Vladimir Putin is doing whatever he can to help Donald Trump win:
U.S. intelligence officials on Tuesday said Russians seeking to disrupt the U.S. elections created a faked video and other material smearing Democratic vice-presidential nominee Tim Walz.... They added that Russian government agencies and contractors, which generally seek to boost Republican former president Donald Trump’s campaign, are considering trying to instigate physical violence in the fraught period after voters cast their ballots.
....Russia is “potentially seeking to stoke threats towards poll workers, as well as amplifying protests and potentially encouraging protests to be violent,” the official added.

Why is Putin so enamored of Trump? Lots of reasons, but I suppose the biggest one right now is that he thinks Trump will cut off aid to Ukraine and guarantee a Russian victory. If I were Putin, I suppose I'd prefer Trump too.

Signym, $9.2 trillion does not sound too bad to you, does it? But the analysis includes other possibilities that show far higher deficits under Trump. If his tariffs raised less money and there were higher costs for his mass deportations and tax breaks, the national debt could jump by $15.2 trillion.
Signym, I say $15.2 trillion for electing Trump is too high a price to pay for him saving Putin from the consequences of invading Ukraine.

Trump: ‘I Need the Kind of Generals That Hitler Had’
The Republican nominee’s preoccupation with dictators, and his disdain for the American military, is deepening.

In April 2020, Vanessa Guillén, a 20-year-old Army private, was bludgeoned to death by a fellow soldier at Fort Hood, in Texas. The killer, aided by his girlfriend, burned Guillén’s body. Guillén’s remains were discovered two months later, buried in a riverbank near the base, after a massive search.
Guillén, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, grew up in Houston, and her murder sparked outrage across Texas and beyond. Fort Hood had become known as a particularly perilous assignment for female soldiers, and members of Congress took up the cause of reform. Shortly after her remains were discovered, President Donald Trump himself invited the Guillén family to the White House. With Guillén’s mother seated beside him, Trump spent 25 minutes with the family as television cameras recorded the scene.
In the meeting, Trump maintained a dignified posture and expressed sympathy to Guillén’s mother. “I saw what happened to your daughter Vanessa, who was a spectacular person, and respected and loved by everybody, including in the military,” Trump said. Later in the conversation, he made a promise: “If I can help you out with the funeral, I’ll help—I’ll help you with that,” he said. “I’ll help you out. Financially, I’ll help you.”
Natalie Khawam, the family’s attorney, responded, “I think the military will be paying—taking care of it.” Trump replied, “Good. They’ll do a military. That’s good. If you need help, I’ll help you out.” Later, a reporter covering the meeting asked Trump, “Have you offered to do that for other families before?” Trump responded, “I have. I have. Personally. I have to do it personally. I can’t do it through government.” The reporter then asked: “So you’ve written checks to help for other families before this?” Trump turned to the family, still present, and said, “I have, I have, because some families need help … Maybe you don’t need help, from a financial standpoint. I have no idea what—I just think it’s a horrific thing that happened. And if you did need help, I’m going to—I’ll be there to help you.”
A public memorial service was held in Houston two weeks after the White House meeting. It was followed by a private funeral and burial in a local cemetery, attended by, among others, the mayor of Houston and the city’s police chief. Highways were shut down, and mourners lined the streets.
Five months later, the secretary of the Army, Ryan McCarthy, announced the results of an investigation. McCarthy cited numerous “leadership failures” at Fort Hood and relieved or suspended several officers, including the base’s commanding general. In a press conference, McCarthy said that the murder “shocked our conscience” and “forced us to take a critical look at our systems, our policies, and ourselves.”
According to a person close to Trump at the time, the president was agitated by McCarthy’s comments and raised questions about the severity of the punishments dispensed to senior officers and noncommissioned officers.
In an Oval Office meeting on December 4, 2020, officials gathered to discuss a separate national-security issue. Toward the end of the discussion, Trump asked for an update on the McCarthy investigation. Christopher Miller, the acting secretary of defense (Trump had fired his predecessor, Mark Esper, three weeks earlier, writing in a tweet, “Mark Esper has been terminated”), was in attendance, along with Miller’s chief of staff, Kash Patel. At a certain point, according to two people present at the meeting, Trump asked, “Did they bill us for the funeral? What did it cost?”
According to attendees, and to contemporaneous notes of the meeting taken by a participant, an aide answered: Yes, we received a bill; the funeral cost $60,000.

You don't.

Quote:This is your third chance to respond, Signym. And you are cheering Russia on, the infamous country that killed 64 million of its people, including 4 million Ukrainians back when it called itself the Soviet Union. Name changes didn't change its nature as a mass murderer. I can't say every Russian is an accessory to murder but pretty close to every Russian has amnesia about those murders, as do you, Signym.

Trump promised on TV to pay funeral expenses for a dead soldier. When it came time to pay, as he has thousands of times before when presented with the opportunity, Trump reveals his true character:

Trump became angry. “It doesn’t cost 60,000 bucks to bury a fucking Mexican!” He turned to his chief of staff, Mark Meadows, and issued an order: “Don’t pay it!” Later that day, he was still agitated. “Can you believe it?” he said, according to a witness. “Fucking people, trying to rip me off.”
Khawam, the family attorney, told me she sent the bill to the White House, but no money was ever received by the family from Trump.

Not paying, until he loses a lawsuit, is a lifelong theme with Trump.
