Rupert Murdoch loathes Donald Trump so much that the billionaire has not just soured on him as a presidential candidate but often wishes for his death, the author Michael Wolff writes in his eagerly awaited new book on the media mogul, The Fall: The End of Fox News and the Murdoch Dynasty.

According to Wolff, Murdoch, 92, has become “a frothing-at-the-mouth” enemy of the 77-year-old former US president, often voicing thoughts including ‘We would all be better off …?’ ‘This would all be solved if …’ ‘How could he still be alive, how could he?’ ‘Have you seen him? Have you seen what he looks like? What he eats?’”

The Fall was announced last month and will be published in the US next Tuesday. The Guardian obtained a copy.

After Trump entered US politics in 2015, winning the White House the following year, he, along with an increasingly extreme Republican party, Fox News and other properties in Murdoch’s rightwing media empire formed a symbiotic relationship.

But Murdoch has long been reported to have soured on Trump – a process which, according to Wolff, saw Murdoch personally endorse the Fox News call of Arizona for Joe Biden on election night in 2020 that fueled Trump’s campaign of lies about voter fraud, culminating in the deadly January 6 attack on Congress.

By the beginning of this year, Wolff writes, what Murdoch “adamantly didn’t want … was Trump.

“Of all Trump’s implacable enemies, Murdoch had become a frothing-at-the-mouth one. His relatively calm demeanor from the early Trump presidency where, with a sigh, he could dismiss him merely as a ‘fucking idiot’ had now become a churning stew of rage and recrimination.

After Trump left office, Wolff writes, Murdoch “like much of the Republican establishment … had convinced himself that Trump was, finally, vulnerable. That his hold on the base and on Republican politicians had weakened enough that now was the time to kill him off, finally.”

But now, as another election year approaches, Trump is in rude political health.

The newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the public absence of his "adopted" Black son.

Johnson and his wife took custody of a Black teenager named Michael 24 years ago and raised him as their son.

However, others raised questions when it became apparent that Michael was absent from Johnson's public life, including his absence from Johnson's family portrait on his website.

Johnson's communications director, Corinne Day, explained Michael's absence in a statement to Newsweek: "When Speaker Johnson first ran for Congress in 2016, he and his wife, Kelly, spoke to their son Michael — who they took in as newlyweds when Michael was 14 years old.

"At the time of the Speaker's election to Congress, Michael was an adult with a family of his own. He asked not to be involved in their new public life. The Speaker has respected that sentiment throughout his career and maintains a close relationship with Michael to this day."

The New York Times reported that Johnson has previously compared their experience to "The Blind Side," a 2009 movie starring Sandra Bullock, in which a white couple takes in a Black teenager who goes on to become a football star.

The Times also said that though he raised him as his own, Johnson said he never formally adopted Michael because of the "lengthy adoption process."

While testifying against reparations for slavery in front of a House committee in 2019, Johnson said that he understood discrimination because of his experiences with Michael.

We are not quite as bad as Russia 1998, or Mexico, or even the EU. But we also have an entrenched oligarchy, and ours is big enough to have ambitions of global dominance. Also, ours is firmly entrenched.

Point is, Trump is not a capable administrator, and he has some IMHO dysfunctional policies ... towards Israel, Iran, and the USD for sure.

In that way he's a little like BoJo the Clown (Boris Johnson) of Britain, who rode a huge wave of popularity by getting Brexit done, only to die on the rocky shoals of anti- Russia policy.

We'll see.

Is it possible, Jaynez, that not living in America you don't truly understand the entire underlying, societal and cultural vibe shift that has taken place here yourself?

Unless the economy goes up in flames between now and 2028, there is not a single person that hasn't already defected from the Democratic Party that they could put up except for maybe John Fetterman.

My prediction, and I wasn't joking the other night, is Stephen A. Smith.

He is the strongest possibility that the Democratic Party has. Just right now, in this very moment. A lot can happen of course in 3+ years.

Nobody else that you hear of though. All the Democratic Party names that you've ever heard of are incapable of running the country and everyone knows it.

And like I said... if the economy isn't up in flames, or god forbid Americans are actually hopeful for the future for the first time in this fucking century, everything that any Democratic Party politician, figure head, appointee, government employee, media talking head, journalist, hollywood producer or actor has said and done can and will be held against them in the court of public opinion when it's all being put on full blast 24/7 online and in every state and local campaign ad countrywide in the months leading up to the election.

The Democratic Brand is TOAST buddy.
