I've only seen Flint Dicker in 3 second bits in other youtuber videos before now. I didn't
know this was a thing and that it was from a channel with over 7.4 Million
followers!!!???? What????

This is something I'm going to have to devote some time to, and it's far better than it
probably has any right to be.

Brilliant setup with the Choose-Your-Own-Adventure story. They must have made a killing on the ad revenue here. Twist that algorithm up in a pretzel with all these unlisted(hidden) videos.

It appears that nobody learned any lessons on budgets so far.

I'm not going to do any graphs or math on the thing, but look at these insane budgets across the board from blockbusters to kids movies to even the horror genre.

My guess is that budgets overall have increased 30 to 40% from 2023 to 2025 across the board.

The only "lesson" that I believe they have learned isn't really a lesson, but just the reality of things. The venture capital has dried up, which means they can't just keep getting a bunch of near interest-free loans to keep funding these woke dumpster fires.

So in lieu of dropping any budgets as they should be doing, the amount of new content (ie: Crap) from streaming to theatrical releases has dropped significantly in that same time frame.

Disney is getting hit particularly hard this year, but I don't really think that's because of any recent Production decisions they've made. My belief is that it is by design the way they re-situated their movie releases and streaming content crap over the last two years.

Think about it for a moment...

How many movies did Disney release last year compared to this year? How many of them were successful last year and how many bombed compared to this year?

Though I'm not going to take the time to go through old posts and/or research these numbers, we already know that Disney made bank in 2024 off of only a few movies (Deadpool & Wolverine, Inside Out 2, Moana 2, Mufasa: The Lion King).

But they decided to release a bunch of movies they knew were going to bomb in 2025. Most of them were movies that were easily ready to go out at nearly any point in time in 2024. (Snow White, Thunderbolts*, Blacktain Anti-America, the upcoming Fantastic 4... as well as finally putting out the soon to be ridiculed Ironheart garbage streaming show)

The end of the Fiscal year for Disney is right around the end of September every year.

Quote:

Disney's fiscal year ends on the Saturday closest to September 30. This means that for most years, the fiscal year ends on September 30th, but occasionally it will end on a different date to ensure it aligns with this Saturday. For example, in fiscal year 2024, Disney's fiscal year ended on September 28, 2024, according to the SEC.

What day is Avatar 3 scheduled to be released?

December 19th... With a re-release of Avatar 2 scheduled when???

October 3rd.

I expect a banner year for Disney next year after dumping all of their woke trash into the dumpster fire this year, with Lilo and Stitch making up for a good amount of their current 2025 losses, with tax write-offs for all the bombs bringing them close to parity until their fiscal year 2026 begins in October.

My prediction for Disney is that they will do at least as well in 2026 as they did in 2024.

Extremely misleading title from deadline here. As I've written about and debunked here not too long ago, Disney has spent 3 to 4 times as much on budgets to get that $1.1B and even with the Lilo and Stitch movie doing as well as it did they are deep in the red for the year. The incoming flop of Elio as well as the very likely Fantastic 4 flop will just make the year even worse for them.

Meanwhile, WB's 2nd place worldwide gross is finding them very, very comfortably in the Black for 2025 so far.

I have predicted right above you that 2026 is going to be a banner year for Disney (assuming they did dump the rest of their woke shit by September 30th of this year, and they've learned any lessons at all about budgeting and making movies that people actually want to see instead of far-left ideology that nobody is willing to pay for anymore).

Not sure if you were following my Elio thread or not, but Bruce predicted $35 Million for the weekend in the US alone.

I said if it did that and the International number came in higher (as it typically does), at say... $55 Million for a nice round $90 Million internationally, then it would still end up being a MAJOR flop.

Well... We just got a $35 Million WORLDWIDE open on this one.

That's 11.6% of the production budget made back on Weekend 1.

Honestly, I think I'd be hard pressed to find another movie I've EVER seen do that bad before. Maybe the bottom few in the 2024 graph that I made? Maybe. But they would have all been low-to-mid budget movies that most people already forgot about. I've never seen a Blockbuster movie do THIS bad before.

I wonder if anybody is going to report this Truth, or if they're all going to try to gaslight you into believing that it's doing well like Bruce did when he said that $3 Million on Preview Thursday was a "strong" number for Elio.

This could be the last movie that Pixar ever makes.

Thanks Bob Iger. Thanks DEI.

Here's what Google AI said when I asked if it was the biggest failure of all time:

Quote:

Yes, Elio, the latest animated film from Pixar, is experiencing a significant box office failure, marking the worst opening weekend in the studio's history. The film grossed only $21 million domestically and $14 million internationally, totaling $35 million globally, according to That Park Place, The Daily Beast, and Variety. This performance falls short of even Pixar's previous lowest debut, Elemental, which earned $30 million domestically and $44.5 million worldwide. Despite mostly positive reviews and high audience scores, the film failed to attract significant ticket sales.

Not much gaslighting going on that I can tell. At least from the headlines. They all pretty much read like this one from Forbes:

‘Elio’ Flops With Worst Opening Weekend Ever For A Pixar Movie

I think the gaslighting here is that they're not telling you that it IS or is very close to being the biggest blockbuster failure of all time.

Can't wait to see the drop next weekend.

My old man made Megan 2 sound like it was going to be Terminator 2.

I haven't watched a trailer, but I love the concept. Enjoyed the 1st movie well enough.

Maybe they'll have the budget to buy the rights to use Toy Soldier in this one. From the sounds of it, the song might be a better fit to the sequel.

AMC works really hard to make going to the movies terrible

By Colette Bennett | July 1, 2025

https://www.thestreet.com/entertainment/amc-works-really-hard-to-make-
going-to-the-movies-terrible

As streaming media has exploded in popularity over the past few decades, fewer and fewer people have seen the point of getting into the car and going to the movie theater.

Despite being a beloved activity that people have adored for well over a hundred years, going to the movies really isn't what it used to be.

Add up the price of a ticket or two, overpriced concessions, the cost of driving to and from the theater — not to mention the high possibility of loud groups of kids who don't mind talking over the entire movie — and it's just not appealing.

The pandemic hit movie theaters hard, and although America has recovered, the movie theater industry hasn't.

Typically it made between 10 and 11 billion a year before 2020, but since then, it hasn't exceeded more than 8 billion, per data from Box Office Mojo.

One way theaters coped with getting people back in theater seats was to entice them with limited-edition merchandise like themed popcorn buckets, which actually did wonders for their bottom line. AMC alone raked in $65 million from sales of this merchandise.

Now AMC has a new idea to change the theater experience. But unlike its innovative collectible popcorn buckets, this will actually add yet another reason to justify staying home on the couch with Netflix.

Your movie date just got longer

We all go to the movies expecting to see trailers before the show starts, and some people even like it that way, knowing if they're running a bit late, they won't miss the main event.

AMC has decided this is a good thing, and as of July 1, will now show more pre-movie ads than ever, including "as much as" a whopping five minutes of commercials, as well as a new ad called a "Platinum Spot" that will play before the last few movie trailers you see.

Trailers and other promotions can mean the movie doesn't start for 25-30 minutes, according to the AMC website.

The advertising decision comes as the result of an agreement AMC made with the National CineMedia ad network, which is the largest of its kind in the U.S.

Back in 2019, AMC declined using these ads, despite the fact other chains such as Regal adopted them, saying it believed that moviegoers would react "quite negatively" to them.

But it has since pivoted, saying in a June Bloomberg interview, “While AMC was initially reluctant to bring this to our theaters, our competitors have fully participated for more than five years without any direct impact to their attendance."

Why AMC is making this move

AMC has had its share of struggles over the past few years. While it's been slowly recovering since the pandemic, 2024 didn't pan out so well, with AMC reporting a decline in revenue in 2024's Q3 and an attendance decline.

AMC also announced on July 1 that it had entered into a new agreement with its creditors, which will provide $223 million of new money financing that will be used to refinance its debt.

The agreement will also allow AMC to equitize at least $143 million of its current debt, and has the potential to allow the company to equitize as much at $337 million.

Commenters on social media did not take well to the news of the new ads.

"I would like to warn AMC to expect 25-30 years of me never coming back to their theaters," said X user TexasPharmD.

"Just another reason to avoid the movies," X user Laz252 said.

"Stop. I like how they want more people to watch movies, but they're also still making the experience worse," X user 360 No One said.

I can't imagine that anybody is excited over this or Fantastic 4. How many times have we rebooted these things now and never gotten anywhere with them?

Superman had a few movies that went down as classics, really just because of good timing. You'd be hard pressed to find a character in literature that is more difficult to make interesting than Superman. And they already nailed it the first time so why do they keep trying to do it over again?

I guess that gives an argument at least to trying Fantastic 4 again since they've never made a good one, or one that anybody is ever going to care about.

Do you think it's possible that Fantastic 4 just isn't ever going to be popular with the mainstream?

I dunno. I was into comics when I was a kid and I never cared about F4. I already thought they were dated and kind of dumb in the mid-80s.

To me, the only thing that ever happened that was interesting with Fantastic Four in my entire lifetime was somebody getting Jessica Alba to wear that outfit.

Still wasn't enough to get me to watch the first movie from start to finish or even watch a minute of the 2nd flick.

Now we're just going to girl-boss our way with past-their-prime upper-mids with casting almost as bad as Borderlands, all while you know there's going to be at least a little bit of scolding left in there no matter how much Disney tried to tone it down in reshoots?

I hope you at least didn't ask Neil Druckman for advice on what you do with Pedro Pascal and Reed is still alive at the end of it.

Good luck!

That makes sense. At one time, during the 60's, Fantastic Four was Marvel's most popular property.

But it's a relic. For whatever reason it didn't age well. My friends NEVER talked once about Fantastic Four during the 80's or 90's. They didn't bother having any cartoons for them, and when they did finally make a movie we didn't even know about it because it was made never to be shown to the public just to maintain the rights.

They've tried putting the on the big screen like 3 times now and nobody cares.

I think they probably nailed the asthetic for this new version, and I think had they not had a bunch of DEI writers and bullshit from the last 5 years involved, just because of the look of this thing I think it would have done well.

I was intrigued by the following review. Could it really be that bad, while looking so good?

You know what needs to go extinct? The 'Jurassic World' franchise

While the previous ‘Jurassic World’ films were disposable but were rescued by some cool chase scenes and effects, the latest lumbers and sinks like a dinosaur in a tar pit

By Cary Darling | July 1, 2025

https://www.houstonchronicle.com/entertainment/movies_tv/article/juras
sic-world-rebirth-review-20402484.php

"Jurassic World Rebirth," the third in the splinter "Jurassic World" franchise and the seventh film set in the "Jurassic Park" universe overall, is like a copy of a copy of a copy. Even at its best moments, "Jurassic World Rebirth," opening Wednesday throughout Houston, just serves to remind viewers of what they liked about the previous films.

That's a bit of a surprise since this installment marks the return of screenwriter David Koepp who co-wrote the original "Jurassic Park" and the follow-up, "The Lost World: Jurassic Park," with Michael Crichton, on whose novel the concept was based. Director Gareth Edwards knows his way around a giant monster movie, having directed the 2014 "Godzilla." But the result here, despite some effective touches and cool dinosaur moments, feels rote. It's a by-the-numbers summer blockbuster that seems longer than it is and is the weakest in the "Jurassic" franchise.

The movie is set five years after the events of the last film, "Jurassic World: Dominion," in which the public has grown weary of dinosaurs. The amusement park that once featured them has long been shut down and the remaining creatures live wild across various equatorial islands that are now off-limits to humans. But the fascination with them has long been extinguished, except among bookish scientists like Henry Loomis (Jonathan Bailey, "Wicked," "Bridgerton) who works at a museum that few visit.

But he gets his chance for relevance when he's recruited by a drug company represented by the slick Martin Krebs (Rupert Friend) to be part of a team assigned to extract blood from the three biggest air, land and sea dinosaurs in order to make a drug that will combat coronary disease. (It's never explained why the company needs blood from three separate creatures instead of synthesizing what they need from one. The only real reason seems to be so that we get to see our heroes fight off death in three different environments.)

Also part of the team is Zora Bennett (Scarlett Johansson), an expert at extracting things in dangerous situations, who hires her boat captain friend, Duncan Kincaid (Mahershala Ali) and his crew to get them to the island. Simultaneously, a family of four — dad Reuben (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), daughters Luna (Teresa Delgado) and very young Isabella (Audrina Miranda), and Luna's slacker boyfriend Xavier (a very funny David Iacono) — is hoping for some bonding time with a trip on their sailboat, La Mariposa, to Cape Town.

Of course, the paths of the family, the team and lots of hungry, angry dinosaurs cross. When the dinosaurs, many of which are mutant breeds designed by Jurassic scientists back in the day before everything shut down, are on screen, "Jurassic World Rebirth" recalls the best moments of the previous movies. The fact that the biggest dino has a face that looks more like the creature in "Alien" is all kinds of disturbing. As is always the case with these movies, the technology and technicians that allow this world to be portrayed so vividly is always impressive.

But the human stories aren't particularly compelling, despite some good performances. If there's supposed to be a spark between Johansson and Bailey, it never really ignites. And there's even the introduction of a cute CGI baby dinosaur that Isabella forges a bond with that is an obvious attempt to appeal to the youngest of moviegoers. But it just comes across as contrived and manipulative. Kil

Another bad review. I have to download it to see if it stinks as bad as described:

'Jurassic World Rebirth' Shows Why Hollywood Fails to Make Great Dinosaur Movies

By Rita Dorsch | July 5, 2025

https://movieweb.com/jurassic-world-rebirth-why-hollywood-cant-make-gr
eat-dinosaur-movies
/

We’d all be petrified if we encountered an Allosaurus in the wild, but people — and kids especially — aren’t afraid of dinosaurs. They’re fascinated by and love them.

Jurassic Park loved dinosaurs, too. It brought them back to life and perfectly captured the terror and wonder they inspire. Plus, it had the luxury of doing it first and the combined talent to do it best. In the years since, Hollywood has failed to adapt. Banking on that bigger is better (and the wild in-world notion that regular dinosaurs are boring), the Jurassic World movies have rehashed the same basic story but with increasingly ridiculous genetically modified (and digitally-rendered) big bads — Indominus rex, Indoraptor, and now Mutadon and Distortus rex — that never existed. We don't need old stories with fake dinosaurs. We need new stories with real dinosaurs.

I thrilled at watching Spinosaurus sails cut through the water because I love Spinosaurus, even if I know Spiny's main function will be to kill off tertiary crew members in the first act. Nobody loves or cares about the silly, made-up D. rex. The climax of Jurassic World Rebirth represents either the franchise's worst impulses, or, if we're being generous, meta commentary. The film comes down hard on the side that InGen shouldn't have played Frankenstein with these animals, and neither should've filmmakers. Until someone can figure out how to use these terrible, wonderful lizards to entertain and enlighten us again, there won't be another dinosaur movie that leaves a footprint.

I think its just from a different era, the big sellers have been Spider-Man and Batman, maybe Xmen kind of sells or if you team up Ironman, Hulk, Thor, Hawkeye, Captain America, Black Widow into one movie you also get a huge hit but with Fantastic Four not so much

most comicbook hits are kind of grounded, Ironman is an inventor in a suit, Spider-Man's real alter ego has trouble paying the rent, Batman is gritty etc

The rest were godly, you had Superman which are guys with godly powers, the Flash runs so fast its ridiculous, then you have Flash Gordon I guess he's more real but elite he's also a polo player and Yale University graduate then he goes off to have this ridiculous Fu Machu adventure in 'Space' vs Ming int he movie with a 'Queen' soundtrack he plays football, its fun and campy I guess, you had Wonder Woman more super powers is she another of the gods like Superman?

maybe you can say Fantastic Four is from another time when the 'Nuclear Family' was a thing, good economy traditional happy Christian White family the economy is doing ok until some big KingKong moster comes along and 'Mr Fantatsic' has to figure out how to beat him with a spray or ray gun and rope. Hold up. Wait a minute...

What's this?

https://www.the-numbers.com/movie/Superman-(2025)#tab=international

All I was hearing about was how badly it did internationally, and I know a few days ago that's what I was seeing at The-Numbers. I had heard several youtubers say that it only made $5 Million in China and a few other places as well over the weekend.

I do see that those opening weekend numbers still show up there, but now I'm seeing MUCH HIGHER numbers for all territories and the international numbers as a whole. And it's only Wednesday. I doubt very much the Monday and Tuesday numbers are even in these "corrections".

$35.8 Million in China. $21.6 Million in the UK. $17.7 Million in France. $15.4 Million in Mexico.

These aren't bad numbers at all.

Current international total is now $159.4 Million, which is nearly $5 Million more than the US take including Monday and Tuesday. And like I said before, I don't believe these revised international numbers include anything beyond Sunday.

Take away the $25 Million it's made in the US since Sunday, and that was an opening weekend of $290 Million. On a production budget of $225 Million, this is easily a winner if it doesn't crash and burn here or internationally.

More weird international numbers. I archived them this time, but Box Office Mojo is replicating what the-numbers shows now so it probably won't be changed.

https://archive.ph/3pr6O

Now we're up to $142.8 Million internationally. Doesn't make sense that they'd put those numbers out on Friday night / Saturday morning.

That may be accurate if it's up to date as of Thursday. Because even with just a $95 Million opening weekend internationally, I would expect somewhere around $170-$200 Million at the end of Weekend 2, since the 1st week and 2nd weekend combined is usually pretty close to double the first weekend for the internationals.

It would also mean that yes, Superman should fairly easily cross $400 Million by Sunday night.

Not sure on this one. Box Office Mojo doesn't even show that it was released in China at all. Bruce's number is still stagnant at the $6.6 Million early number for China. I think my old man may have mentioned that he heard China was shutting it down from because of unrelated (to Hollywood) political/economic issues, but if that's really the case I haven't seen any documenatation about that, and he may have just been getting that confused with earlier reports that it might not have even got a Chinese release from a few weeks ago.

Right now, There's $52 Million unallocated in the "Rest of World" money on Bruce's International Tab, which we have already discovered over time doesn't necessarily mean other countries not on his list, but just that he hasn't taken the time or doesn't yet know the country by country breakdown of the international numbers at this point in time.

And honestly, I'm not sure if that 2nd bump is even new money, or it's some of the 1st weekend money put back after they put it up and took it down the other night. Who knows what the international total really is right now? Near impossible to figure out because of how it is presented even when they're presenting it on a regular schedule. Absolutely impossible for us to track at all when they pull these kinds of stunts.

Yup. My actual thinking was $410 Million, but I didn't bother saying it because I didn't know for certain what was going on with those internationals. Looks like my instincts were right though.

It looks as though the internationals have been reconciled according to Bruce, and that these are now the current international numbers at roughly $172 Million after the 2nd weekend.

Superman is now at $408 Million worldwide.

It only needs about $155 Million now to break even. It should probably be pretty close to 2/3rds of the way there by the end of next weekend, and another $50-$60 Million should be easy to recoup in the few weeks after that. They'll probably make a few bucks on this one before it goes to streaming.

Depending on its legs, it could even make $100-$150 Million for the studio, especially if the rest of the summer box office is pretty weak and if FF4 takes a huge shit like a lot of people assume it will.

$410 was just about what I thought it would look like after last weekend if I was right about the state of internationals, while saying getting past $400 Million (reported in one of the articles) was something I was in agreement with. It turned out being $408. I didn't say what I thought we were still going to get.

I agree with you here. $750 sounds about right. It's not going to go over $800 unless a summer miracle happens for it and everything else ends up flopping and people are still watching this thing well into next month.

My prediction on this one opening weekend is that it won't crack $100 Million in the US. I think they're doing whatever damage control they can do to try to save this thing last minute, but the opening weekend predictions just keep getting revised down.

By the end, I expect Disney to lose more money with FF4 and I also expect them to keep Kevin Feige around like they do Kathleen Kennedy because at this point I'm sure both of them have some huge blackmail material against either Bob Iger and/or somebody else big enough that they are unfirable no matter how much damage they do at Disney.

Unless the Marvel fan boys were out in force last night, my sub-$100 Million prediction may have been premature. It grossed $2 Million more than Superman did on preview Thursday and is already 25% on its way to $100 Million before the weekend starts.

Bruce says his model is telling him $157, but he personally thinks that somewhere around $125 sounds right.

$125 is still not a great opening. During Marvel's heyday, that number would have been the biggest flop for them by far all year. It only looks good when all the other comic book flicks you put out all year were flops and the only comic movie your competition put out all year was a minor success.

The first time international box office revenues for Studio movies surpassed domestic was in 1997, mostly due to the strong global performance of just three films: Titanic (70% of the global intake came internationally), Men in Black (57%) and The Lost World (63%). But it wasn't until 2003 when international revenue dominated the domestic market for good

We'll see. The-Numbers has been down for a while, so I can't really check anything now. Too much of a variance between them and what BoxOfficeMojo shows for me to make any meaningful comparison.

Not really a big deal in the end, if they're not lying about the $225 Million budget. They only need about $60 Million more to cover that before they make at least some money. What's the last DC comic book movie that can say that it made money? I forget at this point.

I'll bet if they cast John Krazinski as Mr. and Sydney Sweeny as Ms. Fantastic, this movie would have made close to $1 Billion.

Good luck making sequels to this a decade from now when the actress playing Sue is 47 years old and the actor playing Reed is 60.

Nice forward thinking there, everyone. Pat yourselves on the back. Good job. Well done.

You guys and gals done yet? Are you tired of losing money every single time you're at bat?

Fire EVERYONE in Hollywood who has been making decisions and/or has been managing other people in the last decade.

START with completely hollowing out every HR and/or DEI Departments.

Everyone who actually WORKS for a living in Hollywood should stay, assuming that they themselves weren't DEI hires. That caveat to that, of course, would be that if the DEI hire in question is actually pretty good at the job, by all means they should remain gainfully employed. But don't keep people around who under-perform. It's really quite simple and it's how things used to work when the world used to work. Shouldn't be that hard to go back to.

All Hollywood needs is some genuine creative talent, backed by a workforce of knowledgeable and talented people to do the camerawork, cinematography, editing and sound, and some good, solid management who understands what it takes to make a product that people want to see.

At one time, we had that.

We had a lot of things we took for granted that we don't have anymore.

Maybe some of them are worth taking back and fixing.

I got nothing against it except for the casting of Pedro Pascal. I want to see it fail just because of him.

Well that and fuck Disney anyhow. They have it coming to them.

BTW... Disney's park revenue is abysmal in 2025, Second.

It's looking like Fantastic 4 is going to end up getting spanked by Superman in the end.

It may have posted a stronger opening weekend by a few million dollars, but after 7 days the Domestic total for both movies after 1 week was $177.7 Million for Superman and only $158.4 Million for Fantastic 4.

It took 11 days for Superman to have a sub-$10 Million day. It only too 6 days for Fantastic Four to drop under $10 Million.

Including Preview Thursday, Superman had a 51% drop from opening weekend to 2nd weekend. Projections I've seen all think that FF4 will fall at least 60% this weekend from last.

The only saving grace FF4 may have is the international numbers, but I think that's too early to tell right now. FF4 has an international share 4% higher than Superman did. We'll see what happens on Monday. 4% doesn't sound like much, but that's 4% both ways and even if this does end up flopping or coming close to breaking even, we're still talking about nearly half a billion here so 4% is still nothing to sneeze at, and could easily be the difference between losing money and barely breaking even.

On paper right now, FF4 had a $200,000,000 budget. I'm not sure that I believe this because it's one of the cheaper budgets I've seen for a Disney/Marvel movie in a while and they say there was quite a bit of changes made after the initial test audiences rejected their intended cut.

But I hear that instead of doing full-blow re-shoots on this one, more of the changes came from simply cutting more out of the movie. That checks out since it's only got a 1hr 40min (100 minute) runtime. According to Google AI, the average run time for all Disney/Marvel movies combined has been 2hr 11min (131 minutes). That leads me to believe that any "fixes" they made here, however disjointed they may have left some parts of the movie, were much, much cheaper than what they had to spend to fix movies like Blacktain Anti-America and the black not-Ariel live-action Little Mermaid reboot nobody asked for.

Will FF4 make $500 Million?

Yeah. I think so. Unless the ticket sales fall off of a cliff this weekend and drop something stupid like -70% or more, I don't see it not making half a Billion.

But people should check back in a year from now and see what Bruce has the production budget for this movie set at then. I've caught Disney now on more than one occassion apparently fessing up to what movies ACTUALLY cost to make long after they've fallen out of the news cycle, and even Bruce doesn't mention that when it happens.

That makes me wonder how much they're paying Bruce not to mention it, really. Because I can't see any other reason why he wouldn't. He's one of very few people who are privy to that info, and even fewer who have current knowledge of changes made like this long after anybody else would even be thinking to look at it.

I don't consider him a stupid person, but I don't understand why he wouldn't say anything about this because there would be money in it for him to do so.

...

But the more I think about it though, how much money really would be in it for Bruce to blow the lid on stuff like that when it happened? Probably only a fraction of the money that would be hoovered up all over the place... especially by ambulance-chasing anti-woke YouTube channels that have been hemmoraging viewers all year.

And Bruce has worked up his relationships in Hollywood for a long time, however tight or not they are right now. Probably better and safer for him to just stay out of that and silently update those numbers as he gets them like he's been doing.

Clownfish TV incorrectly reporting today that FF4 fell 80% from last weekend. They got things mixed up and were applying the Friday with Preview week to week number as if that were the full weekend drop.

According to The-Numbers and the early projections, it was "only" a -66% drop.

Still though, with a weak international number on this one already, that's BAD news.

We're talking $40 Million now for weekend 2, when Superman had $58 Million on weekend 2.

And let's not forget, even though FF4 is going to be the first Marvel movie of 2024 to make any money, if it does make any, it won't be all that much and certainly won't cover the losses of the ones that came before it.

At least 1 out of 3 of the Pedro Pascal movies currently in theaters is a major box office failure. One of them has made a few bucks.

Eddington cost anywhere from $25 to $50 Million to make, depending on the source. It hasn't grossed $10 Million. It has been projected by A24 to only gross $150k today. Major loss for A24 on this one. (These budget numbers come from sources like Variety and Deadline. Bruce does not have a Production Budget number for this movie listed.)

The Materialists, another A24 film, has a production budget of $20 Million according to Bruce. This one has made a few bucks with a total worldwide current gross of $62 Million. (At least a $7 Million profit here, but I don't think A24 spends much on marketing so maybe $10 Million???).

In any event, that movie is done too with only $42k being reported as the projection by A24 today. One if not both of these movies will likely be dropped out of most if not all theaters on Friday, leaving A24 with a loss of at least $20 Million, but as much as $40 Million on Pedro Pascal movies in 2024.

If FF4 doesn't gross $500 Million, or if it comes to light that Disney spent more than it is admitting it did, it will be another flop for Pedro in 2024.

I think it should probably hit $500 Million, but I'm not so sure.

I wouldn't ever expect there to be 2 Pedro movies in the theaters at once again, let alone 3. In fact, we might not see much more of him at all in the future.

I'll bet you that telling everyone years ahead of time who was playing Dr. Doom is going to leave everyone who sees this movie feeling real cheated that they didn't get that reveal on opening night.

This is just symbolic of how bad Disney is at telling stories in the 2020s.

FF4 falls another -60% on Weekend 3 for only $15 Million, once again disappointing Bruce and falling another $4 Million below his own expectations. With only $30 Million internationally coming in for the entire last week, it's not looking good for Disney.

I have high doubts we even see the $500 Million Disney needed to break even with their $200 Million budget figure we all know is a lie in the first place.

All 3 Disney Super Hero movies to come out in 2025 were flops. Ironhart on Disney+ was a flop.

"Eyes of Wakanda" will be a flop when it comes out.

Black not-"Wonderman" will be a flop when it comes out.

And unless they find some magical crossover of the few people who still give a shit about Marvel, pay for Disney+ AND still care a lick about Zombies in 2025, "Marvel Zombies" will be a flop when it comes out.

STOP MAKING MARVEL SHIT.

Superman breaks even and more this weekend, passing the $562.5 Million it needed to. It's now at $578 Million.

Like I said before though, once it hit break even point there wasn't much left for it to make. It only made $7.8 Million over the weekend. It will make $4 Million next weekend.

With no huge movies on the near horizon and FF4 being a flop, WB might get lucky and eek out $50-$70 Million out of this one. Nothing I would be celebrating. Especially not when recognizing if things went the other way and FF4 ended up being a Billion Dollar movie for Disney, Superman would not have broken even.

I think it's time that James Gunn gets retired from making movies in general. He's clearly lost his touch and the switch from Disney to WB didn't really do him any favors.

I suppose putting out the first DC property in a while that wasn't complete dog shit and a financial loss for WB IS an improvement, but this isn't the win they were hoping for. I don't understand why they keep giving these losers 2nd and 3rd and 5th and 10th chances when everything they touch turns to shit.

The one movie this summer that Pedro turned down because they put him in everything else is the only one making money.

Warner Bros' Weapons nearly breaks even after only 3 days in theaters. Pedro had to back out of that one and he was replaced by Josh Brolin. WB must be thanking their stars for that happy accident, because this would have bombed if Pedro were in it.

Even funnier, his Silver Surfette co-star from FF4 also stars in Weapons.

Your Hollywood career is finished, Pedro. Maybe Brie Larson or Rachel Zeigler can get you a part on Broadway where they currently have racist, bald-headed lesbian freak black chick who played the wicked witch currently playing the Titular role of Jesus Christ in Jesus Christ superstar.

Well... looks like it actually made over 5 Million on the 3-day.

I'm not going to count that as a loss for me though, because without any new flicks coming out Bruce got pretty much every prediction he had for the weekend wrong too, with Superman also making $1 Million more than he thought it would, because it was a "Popcorn Flick" weekend.

Terrible news for Hollywood in general this weekend though. They didn't even make $55 Million this weekend in the entire US Box Office for all movies combined.

Ouch.

I fully expect FF4 to end up taking a larger than normal dive next weekend to make up for this temporary bump it got with zero new competition.

All that being said, FF4 right now has $507 Million worldwide now, which is a profit of $7 Million if Disney isn't lying about the $200 Million budget. They've been caught doing so quite a few times already, so I'll have to remember to come back to this in about a year and see what the actual budget was. FF4 likely won't cross $525 Million and might stall out before hitting $520 Million before it's out of theaters.

Nobody in Hollywood spends $200 Million plus massive marketing expenses to get a $7 Million return on investment. Don't expect a sequel. And if the next Avengers movie takes a shit as well, that just might finally be the end of Comic Book movies for a long time.

Fingers crossed.

$241 Million on a $38 Million budget?

Not too shabby.

It made way more money after breaking even than Superman and Fantastic 4 did combined.

Sounds like it could be an interesting flick from the synopsis.

ETA: Superman and FF4 combined have made $58,282,821 after breaking even combined.

So far, Weapons has made $145,940,178 after breaking even.

And even though this is a WB flick, I doubt that they needed to hit 2.5x to break even because I doubt they spent enough on marketing to bump them much past a 2.0x breakeven point.

And if you remove Thursday previews from the first weekend, all three weekend drops so far were in the mid to high 30s.

It will probably make another $5 or $6 Million in the US this weekend. Although, now that I look at the new movies that just came out, The Conjuring is probably going to overlap that audience by quite a bit and there might be a pretty big fall for Weapons this time around, so maybe not.

Oh well. WB should be more than pleased at this result even if it nosedives now. It's done well.

Maybe Weapons does better than I thought despite the Conjuring coming out this weekend?

Bruce predicts only a -27% drop for some reason this weekend on Weapons, even with a projected $66.8 Million for Conjuring. I would have thought there would be some serious overlap between the two and Weapons would have been buried under it.

So far, he's not right. It's dropped -44% from Friday to Friday, but looking just at F/F drops rarely paints the weekend picture, so I guess we wait and see.

ETA:

Well... he does mention this at the end of his prediction article...

Quote:

With all the returning films coming out of a slight uptick thanks to Labor Day last weekend, we might see some steep drops on the chart when we get the numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The model partially accounts for that, but drops of 40% or more for all the returning films are quite likely, in my opinion.

... which is basically what I said on the 2nd regarding Fantastic 4's smaller than expected Labor Day Weekend drop:

Quote:

I fully expect FF4 to end up taking a larger than normal dive next weekend to make up for this temporary bump it got with zero new competition.

ETA2:

And a deeper look at Friday's numbers in general appear to support this theory all around.

Friday to Friday drops:

Weapons: -45%
Freakier Friday: -47%
Caught Stealing: -71%
The Roses: -68%
Fantastic Four: -43%
The Bad Guys 2: -62%
Superman: -62%
The Naked Gun: -70%
F1: The Movie: -55%
