What? Are you taking lessons for Lying By Omission from MSNBC?

Bruce predicts only a -27% drop for some reason this weekend on Weapons, even with a projected $66.8 Million for Conjuring. I would have thought there would be some serious overlap between the two and Weapons would have been buried under it.
So far, he's not right. It's dropped -44% from Friday to Friday, but looking just at F/F drops rarely paints the weekend picture, so I guess we wait and see.
ETA:
Well... he does mention this at the end of his prediction article...Quote:
With all the returning films coming out of a slight uptick thanks to Labor Day last weekend, we might see some steep drops on the chart when we get the numbers on Saturday and Sunday. The model partially accounts for that, but drops of 40% or more for all the returning films are quite likely, in my opinion.
... which is basically what I said on the 2nd regarding Fantastic 4's smaller than expected Labor Day Weekend drop:Quote:
I fully expect FF4 to end up taking a larger than normal dive next weekend to make up for this temporary bump it got with zero new competition.
ETA2:
And a deeper look at Friday's numbers in general appear to support this theory all around.
Friday to Friday drops:
Weapons: -45%
Freakier Friday: -47%
Caught Stealing: -71%
The Roses: -68%
Fantastic Four: -43%
The Bad Guys 2: -62%
Superman: -62%
The Naked Gun: -70%
F1: The Movie: -55%
Jurassic World Rebirth: -66%
Nobody 2: -81%
Toxic Avengare Unrated: -90%
Honey Don't: -90%
Lilo & Stitch: -93%
Which was in reference to the last paragraph of the previous post:

Oh well. WB should be more than pleased at this result even if it nosedives now. It's done well.
Weapons fell -49% for Weekend 5. Bruce's model said it would only fall -27%.
Weapons made $5,370,000 on weekend 5, which was right in between the $5-$6 Million I predicted it was going to make on Weekend 5.
I was right... again.
Bruce's model was wrong... again.

Who is going to make the movies when nobody pays to see them?
Every single streaming service on the planet including Netflix has done nothing but lose money every quarter they've been in existence.
If they don't figure out how to get asses back in seats, they'll just stop making anything new for you to pirate.

King author, this piece of sicko degenerate filth keeps getting movie deals and has a movie The Long Walk. He used to also write under the pseudonym Richard Bachman, a short story The Fifth Quarter was published under the pseudonym John Swithen, the Long Walk was published under the Bachman author name.
For teenagers and kids reading his books his horror might seem original but he seems to have stolen a lot of material or got inspired by other works. King seems to have taken material from other authors such as the dark fantasy Something Wicked This Way Comes by Ray Bradbury, King acknowledges the influence of Bram Stoker, Shirley Jackson, Don Robertson's novels Robert A. Heinlein's book The Door into Summer, writings of Joseph Payne Brennan and a fan and influenced by the work of John D. MacDonald.
King is neither a great writer nor is he original

You ever hear about Richard Bachman's book RAGE?
It was like a blueprint for school shootings back before school shootings were a thing. I think he published that either before I was born, or right after I was born.
Then there was the child sex scenes in his book "IT" that didn't make it to either of the movie versions they made, for obvious reasons.
ETA: King wrote RAGE while he was in High School in 1970. He didn't release it until after he was publishing books under his own name.

I expect it to try push toward getting a Top10 if it does another foreign langauge movie will knock a US Hollywood movie out of the Top10 on the USA's home turf despite Trump's attempt at saving Hollyweird culture and economics with his tariff and sanctions

Yeah. I hadn't heard about it until a YT video about it popped up in my feed the other day. It wasn't the one I sent you, because I couldn't find the one that I'd watched when I looked for it later.
I grew up surrounded by Stephen King. Both my Dad and Mom were huge fans of his writing, and it was about the only thing they had in common.
They're both 3 times Trump voters and are just as sick of King's shit as we are.
I troll that dude constantly on Twitter.

What Is It About Robert Redford?
By Richard Rayner | May 10, 1998
https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/1998/05/18/robert-redford-profile-e
xistential-cowboy
Robert Redford told me a story recently about John Huston and his 1948 film “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre.” The movie, based on a B. Traven novel, is about three American treasure seekers who find gold in the mountains of Mexico, go crazy, and end up trying to kill one another. Redford saw the film as a child of eleven, and regards it as one of the most meaningful cinematic experiences of his life. “The Treasure of the Sierra Madre” is uncompromising in its emotional intensity and its depiction of a character—Fred C. Dobbs, played by Humphrey Bogart—made paranoid and homicidal by his appetite for money. “Huston was interested in greed and power,” Redford said. “I, too, find them appealing, because greed and power make things go. The wheel finally turns on greed and power. They’re the motives that are important to know. All systems that control us, whether political or financial, or simply an industry that controls a town, run on greed and power.”
Charles Robert Redford, Jr., born in a Spanish-speaking neighborhood of Santa Monica on August 18, 1937, was the only child of a Scots-Irish milkman who later became an accountant and who, in the early nineteen-fifties, moved his small family into a tract home in the San Fernando Valley, in search of a better life. “It didn’t seem like a better life to me,” Redford said. “It seemed like a step down. Back then, the Valley was a big oven with nothing in it, a great sea of nothing, an ocean with no ships on it, and at night if you went out there were very few lights. I spent my time wanting to leave. So it was sports and getting into trouble. And cruising and getting into trouble. Drag racing on Van Nuys Boulevard.”
Redford was a gifted athlete but bone idle. He also hated school, and often skipped it—a rebellion against his family, many of whom were educators. He had twin great-aunts who were both teachers, one a Republican, the other a Communist and a follower of Emma Goldman. They died within ten days of each other, both run over, one on the East Coast, the other on the West. His uncle, a Rhodes Scholar, had a contract to play baseball for the St. Louis Browns, enlisted, and was serving in Patton’s Third Army when he was killed by a German sniper in Belgium. “Don’t get me going about my family,” Redford said. “It’s a lot of bad luck.” His father was obsessed with not having enough money. “When I was born, my father earned thirty-five dollars a week. I remember hearing that figure most of my life. It was jammed down my throat, or up my ass. Somebody who’d worked so hard for so little didn’t take kindly to his kid lying in the grass staring at clouds. He’d say it over and over again, ‘Thirty-five dollars a week, thirty-five dollars a week, thirty-five dollars a week.’ I obviously wasn’t going to amount to much. It gave me an edge. I went out looking for it, the wildest possible edge, and I went after it with a vengeance.”
His mother died when Redford was eighteen, and soon after he left the Valley to attend the University of Colorado (he started as a prelaw student and then changed to art). “I wasn’t happy. I was drinking, and talking all the time about going to Europe, dreaming about Utrillo and Matisse and Braque,” Redford recalls. “I wanted to be in that place, where they’d been. I’d wanted out of L.A., but Colorado wasn’t far enough. I had a teacher, Richard Dudley, who said, ‘Don’t talk. Just go do it.’ ”
So in 1956, Redford dropped out and left. “Around the time I went to Europe, I got interested in who I was. I felt as though a film had been ripped from my eyes. I’d done sports, I’d done trouble, and suddenly something clicked into place. I went everywhere with a pad, sketching, drawing pictures, making notes. A consciousness is what happened to me.”
He had, in effect, a crash course in European politics. He met French commu

He went on a big apology tour over that Kirk comment. I doubt it was any more genuine than when Rosie O'Donnell made her big apology only a week earlier, but these are two of the last people you'd ever expect to be issuing apologies for their behavior. Times have changed. They know this now.
We'll be watching both of them.

The Long Walk is a 2025 American dystopian survival thriller film directed and produced by Francis Lawrence from a screenplay by JT Mollner. It is based on the 1979 novel of the same name by Stephen King (under his pseudonym Richard Bachman).
Stephen King wrote The Long Walk between 1966 and 1967 as a freshman in college, but it was not published until 1979 under the pseudonym Richard Bachman. He began the novel as a teenager, completing his first draft at 19 years old. He is 77 years old today, born September 21, 1947. Next week, he will be 78. It shows that Hollywood is silly to make that novel into a movie, but King doesn't care.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Long_Walk_(2025_film)#Production
By the way, Charlie Kirk's resurrection after burial in the Pet Cemetery (or Pet Sematary, alternate Stephen King spelling) will not be made into a movie because who buys tickets to movies about some dead Angry-Poor-White-Trash/Propagandist/Trumptard?

It's Hollywood material. Turning Point USA is ART! Let's consider that the other founder died from COVID in 2020. Two people start a conservative organization to push COVID conspiracies and pro-gun ideals, among other things. One dies of COVID. The other dies of gun violence. It's so on the nose that it's actually cliche, which is perfection for Hollywood!

Don't care.
But he did come out and apologize, admit he was wrong, and admit that he got sucked in by propaganda without fact checking it.
And the fact that King has "Fuck You" money and didn't need to apologize but still did shows us that as big of an asshole as Steve is, and he is a gaping asshole, he's still a better man than either you or Ted are.

Demon Slayer Japan Anime a big US opening and it has nice music
...but....doing 'Elio' numbers now, even Thunderbolts didnt crash this hard and its the wrong time of year for box office
Huge drop on Demonslayer 2025 First Wednesday and First Thursday
it can still beat The Fantastic Four remake Worldwide and can stay in the Top10 unless another bunch of Pixar / Disney toons are coming before Christmas or a movie like Tron Ares does great numbers
Stephen King's 'The Long Walk' did $1,070,759 on Wednesday...it could be sub 1 million already? they wont even release the Thursday numbers

Good call. They put the numbers out after you posted this...
$895,698 for Thursday (Day 7)
$18 Million worldwide on a $20 Million budget. It probably doesn't need $50 Million to break even being a low-budget Lionsgate film and it probably wasn't very heavily advertised, but it probably won't hit $40 Million anyhow.

not sure but maybe The Fantastic Four remake seems to have opened at number 1 in China and Spain?
Demon Slayer Japan anime is number one in South Korea
even though 'The Fantastic Four' remake seems to be making a comeback on interntional numbers as these world wide sales come in...I dont see it making much more
it just seems too late and the wrong time of year to catch the 'Superman' remake
if you want to make money with one of the comicbook films that can still make money in a post-Covid Marvel/DC fatigue world then you need to be doing it during the summer
so predictions are correct that Fan4 wont catch Superman

its starting to struggle so Monday maybe Less 850K? maybe < 800,000 on Monday
2nd Wednesday < $700,000
2nd Thursday < $570,000
3rd Monday its over...
it seems like its up against lots of Horrors like Horror film The Strangers – Chapter 2, Bone Lake horror, Coyotes horror, Shell horror, The Woman in Cabin 10, Killing Faith supernatural thriller, WB One Battle After Another movie coming, The Smashing Machine Dwayne Johnson Emily Blunt, Tron Ares.
currently at $22 Million, plus $2 Million international = 24
so it needs a big opening in China or Europe
I'm not sure Hollywood Horrors do well in Asia as they seem to have their own unique style of Horror movies.
the Hollywood style Horror movies seem to do better in Europe but the market is not a guarantee of any future money earning, there might be local competition from indie European film.

It looks as if One Battle After Another is dead on Arrival is it a political movie, a black comedy, an action or a thriller?
It does not really compare to Joker, Angels & Demons 2009, Chinese Lost in the Stars 2023, Dark Shadows 2012, The Hunt for Red October 1990, Parasite SKorea 2019, Clear and Present Danger 1994, The Wolf of Wall Street 2013, Fahrenheit 9/11 2004, China movie Crazy Alien 2019, Gravity
...maybe Wolf of Wall St but that had a poor open with a lot of staying power
You can see Fahrenheit 9/11 by Michael Moore's had Battles delayed openings and "Fahrenheit 9/11" faced distribution challenges amid censorship debates
back in the days of high DVD sales movies could recover an average box office with sales of the Fahrenheit 9/11 DVD for example
or comicbook movies could sell lots of T-Shirts and comicbooks and Disney Rides
that era is almost gone
I doubt anyone will really buy 'One Battle After Another' on DVD

One Battle After Another destined to flop...?
and if it had good word of mouth and that's a big IF then it could push to 75-80 Million
its getting trashed now so even if it had a good start it would be finished by bad word of mouth, it might struggle to reach 100, $3.4M in France, $3.4M in the U.K. & $2.0M in Germany.
the elite critic magazines are hyping it like crazy...Hollyweird Shills?
I would not be shocked to see it censored in Arabia or China or other places, the murder, the LGBT Gay Lesbo stuff, the politics, the ethno issues racial mixing weird fetish messages, Bolsevik Rightwing vs Letwing revolution the general violence and degeneracy ...if it gets censored in Asia that's a loss of income...and in general Asian people have different movie tastes, while they do have violence they seem to be more subtle with messages and can seem less political charged compared to Baizuo aka? the 'white left' messages

Box Office Report Prediction
Quote:
What would have been an especially slow weekend at the box office will be given some much needed life with AMC Theatres Distribution's release of Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl. The music film starring Taylor Swift is a companion piece to Swift's new album, The Life of a Showgirl, which is also being released on Friday, October 3. Despite not being announced until last month, a sizable amount of Swift's fans will no doubt be catching The Official Release Party of a Showgirl in theatres this weekend. And for those wanting to see the film in theatres, they will have to do so this weekend, as Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl is only scheduled to play for three days (this Friday through Sunday). Understandably, Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl isn't expected to come anywhere close to the $93.22 million debut of Taylor Swift | The Eras Tour concert film back in October of 2023, but delivering just a fraction of that performance would lead to Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl having an impressive performance of its own this weekend. BoxOfficeReport is predicting that Taylor Swift | The Official Release Party of a Showgirl will easily take first place this weekend with a $39.0 million haul.
Meanwhile, it could prove to be a close race for second place this weekend between Warner Bros.'s One Battle After Another (in its second weekend of release) and A24's The Smashing Machine (in its first weekend of release). Last weekend One Battle After Another debuted in first place with $22.00 million, which was in line with consensus expectations. The critically acclaimed Paul Thomas Anderson directed action thriller starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Sean Penn also looks to be going over very well with audiences after receiving a strong A rating on CinemaScore. Midweek grosses this week have been encouraging for One Battle After Another, though the film could also prove to be relatively midweek heavy in general. One Battle After Another will continue to play on IMAX screens this weekend, with some IMAX showtimes going to The Smashing Machine and the re-issue of Avatar: The Way of Water. Back in October of 2023, Killers of the Flower Moon declined 59.9 percent in its second weekend to gross $9.32 million, but it appears likely that One Battle After Another will have a stronger second weekend percentage hold this weekend. One Battle After Another could decline a respectable 50.0 percent to gross $11.0 million this weekend.

I always go by Bruce's numbers and he said it cost $140 Million. My old man said he heard it cost $175 Million, but I told him that was a Variety or Deadline article that said this, but they also said it could have cost as little as $120 Million. Either way, I said it probably ain't making $120 Million.
It will hit $100 Million. Bruce is predicting a 56% drop this weekend at just shy of $10 Million in the US, and it has made almost 56% of its money internationally so far. Assuming we haven't had most of the international money added since last weekend, it's probably more like 60% international. So another $10 Million here could mean another $12-16 Million internationally by Monday morning. At $16 Million, it would be at right around $97 Million.
It depends on how it holds on after that point. It's possible it actually sees $120 Million too, unless it gets yanked from theaters really early. This is only weekend 2.
I have serious doubts it would ever hit the $140 Million production budget by the time it's gone. At the end of the day, it needs $350 Million to break even, and it's not even going to come close to half of that.
Looks like I was right about Taylor Swift. Her star has fallen. Bruce predicted $38-$39 Million this weekend, and now we're seeing $30-$32 Million.
My buddy's daughter and her friends used to screech at the mere mention Taylor's name. Now they talk about her as if she's old news and they grew out of that phase.

It will hit $100 Million. Bruce is predicting a 56% drop this weekend at just shy of $10 Million in the US, and it has made almost 56% of its money internationally so far. Assuming we haven't had most of the international money added since last weekend, it's probably more like 60% international. Every dog has his day, and a good dog just might have two days. — Johnny Copeland
LATER than usual one summer morning in 1984, Zoyd Wheeler drifted awake in sunlight through a creeping fig that hung in the window, with a squadron of blue jays stomping around on the roof. In his dream these had been carrier pigeons from someplace far across the ocean, landing and taking off again one by one, each bearing a message for him, but none of whom, light pulsing in their wings, he could ever quite get to in time. He understood it to be another deep nudge from forces unseen, almost surely connected with the letter that had come along with his latest mental-disability check, reminding him that unless he did something publicly crazy before a date now less than a week away, he would no longer qualify for benefits. He groaned out of bed. Somewhere down the hill hammers and saws were busy and country music was playing out of somebody’s truck radio. Zoyd was out of smokes.
On the table in the kitchen, next to the Count Chocula box, which turned out to be empty, he found a note from Prairie. “Dad, they changed my shift again, so I rode in with Thapsia. You got a call from Channel 86, they said urgent, I said, you try waking him up sometime. Love anyway, Prairie.”
“Froot Loops again I guess,” he muttered at the note. With enough Nestle’s Quik on top, they weren’t all that bad, and various ashtrays yielded half a dozen smokable butts. After taking as much time as he could in the bathroom, he finally got around to locating the phone and calling the local TV station to recite to them this year’s press release. But—“You’d better check again, Mr. Wheeler. Word we have is that you’ve been rescheduled.”
“Check with who, I’m the one’s doin’ it, ain’t I?”
“We’re all supposed to be at the Cucumber Lounge.”
“Well I won’t, I’ll be up at the Log Jam in Del Norte.” What was the matter with these people? Zoyd had been planning this for weeks.
Desmond was out on the porch, hanging around his dish, which was always empty because of the blue jays who came screaming down out of the redwoods and carried off the food in it piece by piece. After a while this dog-food diet had begun to give the birds an attitude, some being known to chase cars and pickups for miles down the road and bite anybody who didn’t like it. As Zoyd came out, Desmond gave him an inquiring look. “Just dig yourself,” shaking his head at the chocolate crumbs on the dog’s face, “I know she fed you, Desmond, and I know what she fed you too.” Desmond followed him as far as the firewood, tail going back and forth to show no hard feelings, and watched Zoyd backing all the way down t

It made $11 Million in the US Box office on Weekend 2. It's at $103 Million right now including the $1.1 Million it made on Monday. International take is 58% after you remove that $1.1 Million from Monday.
At this point I think it will see $120 Million too. But it's not going to see Bruce's $140 Million production budget number.

I don't know if anybody actually believes that China had a movie that earned $2 Billion though.
They lied about creating Covid in a lab for years and the US media covered for them.
Who's going to argue Xi when he says that his movie made $2 Billion? Anybody who does inside of China will be murdered.
Anyhow... Avatar 3 is still coming out this year, isn't it? If that's the case, there is still a chance that Hollywood comes out on top either way. Although I'm hoping that A3 will fail and people stop watching that stupid shit.

Leonardo DiCaprio's 'One Battle After Another' looks to be an unlikely box office failure
Variety estimates that the critically acclaimed film will lose about $100 million
By Dan Gentile, Senior Culture Editor Oct 16, 2025
https://www.sfgate.com/sf-culture/article/leonardo-dicaprio-one-battle
-after-another-failure-21104309.php
I wonder why the above article says unlikely box office failure?
From experience with the kind of movies Leonardo DiCaprio agrees to star in, it was a very likely failure:
Leonardo DiCaprio's Killers of the Flower Moon [2023] did not recoup its production and marketing costs from its box office revenue, leading to a significant financial loss. While estimates vary, the total estimated budget is around $200–$215 million for production, with marketing costs potentially pushing the total to over $300 million. The film's global box office gross was about $157 million, meaning it fell far short of breaking even and likely lost hundreds of millions of dollars.

You'll get no argument out of anyone for that statement.
The ideologues in Hollywood are as creatively bankrupt as they are morally bankrupt.

Kathryn Bigelow's Nuclear Nightmare
By Tom Nichols | October 16, 2025, 9:52 AM ET
https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2025/10/kathryn-bigelow-hous
e-of-dynamite/684569/
Hollywood and the American public have treated nuclear war as yesterday’s problem, a nightmare that was long ago somehow solved. Bigelow has broken this silence with a film that reminds us that the world is still in danger—perhaps more today than ever—from a nuclear conflict.
I am not a film critic; I watched A House of Dynamite as someone who has spent much of his professional life studying nuclear weapons and strategies. (I also had the opportunity to visit the set and watch parts of A House of Dynamite while it was being filmed, and to discuss the movie with the director as well as the producer Greg Shapiro and its writer, Noah Oppenheim.) Like Bigelow, I am a child of the Cold War, and as I wrote this summer, I have long been distressed by how quickly the threat of nuclear war has faded from both America’s collective consciousness and its popular culture. Bigelow shares that concern, and she has created a film whose settings and scenario are all too possible.
A House of Dynamite opens with a missile appearing over the Pacific, headed for the continental United States. The missile’s origin is a mystery: Somehow, the U.S. early-detection systems missed its launch. (Was it a glitch? Sabotage? No one knows.) It might be a mistake. It might be a desperate move by the North Koreans, a sneak attack by the Russians or the Chinese, or the first wave of a larger attack by a combination of America’s enemies. Or it might be, as one of the officers at U.S. Strategic Command muses to his boss, that “some fucking sub captain woke up, found out his wife left him, and snapped.” Within minutes of detection, the missile’s target is confirmed: Chicago.
Now what? The story is told three times, from three different vantage points, but always ends with the same stomach-churning request: “Your orders, Mr. President.”
When I first saw an early version of A House of Dynamite, I expected to have something of a “punch list” of gripes, things experts might notice that seem wrong or out of place. I found very few. (I would argue, for one, that the film is too generous in its estimation of the possible efficacy of U.S. missile defenses.) More to the point, I worked for a U.S. senator in Washington during the first Gulf War, and later taught at the Naval War College, and I was struck by how many people in the film spoke and acted like the policy makers and senior officers I’ve met over the years. Tracy Letts was especially effective as the commanding general of STRATCOM. He was, like many top officers I knew, capable of turning from snippy martinet to consummate professional almost in the same moment.
Experts might also quibble with, for example, the likelihood that some enemy might launch just one missile, and why. But the reality is that the Cold War scenarios of the previous century, which were based on nuclear exchanges erupting during a major war between the United States and the Soviet Union, are no longer the only ways a cataclysm could unfold. Nuclear deterrence was a dicey enough business when it was a two-player game; today, nine states can point nuclear arms at one another in a web of overlapping enmities and alliances. Wisely, Bigelow and Oppenheim did not stoop to making a morality play with villains and heroes. Everything in A House of Dynamite is plausible; the people at the center of the crisis follow procedures, make decisions carefully, and in general do things for sane and understandable reasons.
For example, I spent much of my career

Wow. Did not see this one grossing over $160 Million. It didn't have a good opening weekend, but its weekend-to-weekend drops after that seem to average in the low -40%, which is actually really good for a movie. It's the international money that got it this high though. Only $61 Million so far in the US, but it's made $100 Million + internationally at this point.
It's still a colossal flop, regardless. At only 2x, it needs $280 Million to break even. At 2.5x, it needs $350 Million. It ain't coming anywhere close to the lower of the two numbers.

One Battle After Another: Why this year's most acclaimed film flopped
https://www.bbc.com/culture/article/20251020-why-one-battle-after-anot
her-flopped
Variety magazine reported that several recent films aimed at a grown-up audience had all missed their targets, among them Roofman and The Smashing Machine. And the biggest loser of them all? You guessed it. "Though the global haul of $140m (£105m) is impressive for a film that's original, R-rated and nearly three hours long," said the article, "One Battle requires roughly $300m (£224m) to break even."
In the post-pandemic era, when so many films are available to stream, it does seem that nothing except IP-based blockbusters and horror films can tempt large numbers of paying customers into the multiplex.
One Battle After Another is an art house film. Its hectic rhythms, nerve-jangling music, deeply flawed characters, intensely political subject matter, and eccentric mix of seriousness and silliness mark it as the work of a writer-director who is determined to fulfill his own creative ambitions, however uncommercial the results. The reviews and the word of mouth may be superlative, but it's still a challenging film for anyone in the mood for a Friday night blockbuster.
Did I mention that One Battle After Another is available for free at the same time it is in the theater?

This movie was Leonardo DiCaprio's second recent failure. The other one was Killers of the Flower Moon [2023], because nobody wants to see a movie based on David Grann's non-fiction book Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI. It was absolutely crazy to squander a production budget of $200,000,000 (worldwide box office is 0.8 times production budget) on such dull material.
