So with endless caution and awareness that it isn't actors who get to announce revivals and beyond these videos there has been no buzz about anything but with just the tiniest bit of hope that Nathan has specifically said that it isn't a convention, a crossover or a podcast thing... is something actually happening?

The videos are cryptic, the comments mysterious, the possibilities narrowing...

Haken's going to need to overhaul the entire site if people do come back.

This site is held together with bubblegum and painter's tape as it is. 20% of the time you want to make a post here you can't, and there's only about half a dozen of us posting on any given day.

Even an addition of only 100 old Firefly fans trying to post here would be like a 24/7 DDoS attack against a modern website.

The low level rumblings are that they're launching a set of Firefly branded Bobbleheads. Which does fit in with the franchise ("They were little geisha dolls with big heads that wobbled!") but if this is it, I think the only comparable level of reception is likely to be that episode of The Office with Scott's Tots.

Just checked and the already available Funko Firefly figures are not bobbleheads…they do have big heads though.

Everyone aside from Summer and Morena lookin' pretty rough. Not that I haven't aged 21 years since Serenity myself, but nobody is asking me to get in front of a camera.

And you know that if they bring it back, the sensible thing would be to appeal to the prime demo, and I don't see them tuning in every week to watch our crew in 2026 without bringing in a lot of younger talent. And we've seen how well that's worked out in everything from Ghostbusters to Star Wars to Star Trek in the last 15 years.

Better to leave well enough alone and not bring it back if they're going to ruin our memories of the show.

The Matrix sequels ruined the original movie. Unless they have something worthwhile to add and good stories to tell, there's no reason to bring Firefly back all these years later if it's just an ill-advised cash grab.

Given that this is clearly a test outing, something to see what anticipated demand could be for an animated revival, I wonder what metrics Fox (or whoever) is looking for. Is a million likes enough? A million reposts?

My actual prefered choice of studio would be Dropout but I suspect it would be beyond their price range, at least to do it in a decent way.

Wow. That's interesting. I was talking to my old man about this just yesterday. He had heard some vague rumors about the show possibly coming back but hadn't heard it was going to be animated and that it was actually happening. He said that they shouldn't have any problem finding somebody to pick it up. He and my younger brother were the ones who got me to watch Firefly in 2005. I'd never even heard of it until then.

I'm sure somebody is going to want it and they won't have any problems, but it will be interesting to see how many people come back together to help out.

This news has me hopeful that it's actually going to be pretty darn good even without Joss being involved. Makes me believe that they're doing it for the love of the game and not for the love of money.

It's not some ill-advised Cowboy Beebop reboot conceived and run by a bunch of idiots.

I think you'd like cartoons. They're like political cartoons, but they show 8 to 24 images per second and they move. If we're lucky, this will be some high-end animation and we'll be getting all 24 frames.

It does now make sense that they brought back the original cast. Not only can they lend voice to the characters, but any issues with likeness of the actors can be remedied with their participation.

If you look at my post history for the last week or two since word of this first came around, I think you'll see that I've already done as much.

I've also tried getting Ted and Second to keep politics and BS out of the tags and strictly in the RWED, but controlling other people's bad behavior isn't as easy as controlling my own.
