OMG i have been i firefly fan from before it was even on television (joss is so cool i knew i would like it cos he made it!!!!!)

BUt the problem is when the movie comes out it will undoubtably be as big as star wars an all new people will come to this site an be all like i like serenity im a fan blah blah an i will be all like I WAS A FAN BEFORE YOU BUT. but i couldnt do anything and i would be ignored by all the new people.

so we have to do something to make us be regognised and have the respect and admiration we deserve from all the new fans i have a few ideas.

1. make a list of all our names and post it in every topic made by the new fans ( at the top of the list it should say if your not on this list your not a true fan an u suck)

2.
ban any new members from registering when the movie comes out, (this will make us look cool an mystyrous to all the new fans an everyone would wish they could post here but they cant cos there not true fans and they will relise they suck an hopefully kill themselves.

3.turn up to cinemas in large mobs an forfully stop people from seeing the movie we may have to resort to resort to murder or sodomy to stop people. also you should start a rumour that sereniy is like that tape in that movie where you die if you whatch it.

Have I summed it up correctly? Let's get one thing straight. I've loved Firefly since I read abou tit in the sci-fi premiere mag wayyyyyy back in early 2001. There are individuals here that became fans after the set cam out. I was one of those frothing at the mouth for the set to come out. They are no worse than I, I am no better than they as regards to fans because I actually watched FF with commercials.......

AND NEITHER ARE YOU!

And such, any new fffans that show up here after the BDM, I will welcome with open arms, the same as everyone else....including your trolly butt.

yeah well i prejudged Firefly before i ever watched it, and decided it wasn't for me. because i am a huge nerd i and i like aliens. and depiste the fact that i love joss whedon to death and buffy and angel are my two favorite shows, i still wasn't going to give it the time of day. so i didn't. then one day while i was bored with disposible income, i purchased the DVDs, watched it and now i love firefly more then i love most people. i've had a crush on a TV show the likes of which i have never had. and now although i do still love buffy and angel to the max, firefly squeaks in above them on my list.

where does that leave me?

I was a fan of Brisco County back in 93 and I thought it'd be a better show if it was set in space and was a little more serious and had Dixie bein' more like a whore, so I am the defacto sole UBERFAN of Firefly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think it is very possible that Serenity will be better than Star Wars (yes, even the first three), but I do agree that it most likely won't be more popular. People just aren't that cool!

I have been a FF fan since back in the day. I get what all of you are saying about embacing any new lover of Serenity that happens to come along...However, I've got to admit that I'm a little reluctant to share my 'verse with a buncha wannabe's that show up on opening day. Who is going to believe me then, when I say "Yea, but I was there from the begining. It was me and my fellow browncoats who begged and pleaded and wept and prayed for the show, the dvd,s and ultimately the movie for which you are a johnny-come-lately." I am a shallow person I know. No flames from me. Heck, everyone's entitled to their own stupid opinion.

Firefly is different from Star Wars, in that it's not about superheroes saving the galaxy. It's about people struggling to find a place - something I can relate to. So for my money, it's already better than Star Wars. But I loved episodes IV thru VI as much as anyone, so I'll not be slamming them.

Sadly though, I found episode one silly and soulless - so much so that I haven't even seen number two and have no intention of wasting my time with number three. Great reviews might change my mind, but that seems unlikely.

I was playing hold'em poker in 1997 and was very often the youngest guy in a card room at 22, younger by 20 years sometimes. Now with the explosion of popularity of the game I've found that I'm often the OLDEST at 29. I've never jumped on anybodys case about being a bandwagon hopper.

I honestly can't wait for the popular explosion. I was a toddler when Star Wars Ep 4 A New Hope was released and the unexpected firestorm of fandom started. I would just LOVE to see this happen to firefly.

My love for Firefly has come from buying and watching Firefly on DVD after reading good reviews and speaking to fans. I did not even know Serenity was any relation to Firefly until a friend in work told me.

I've been a Star Wars fan since 1977 when I first seen A New Hope. So does that mean the new kids that started their Star Wars love affair from Phantom Menace cannot be true fans and should not be allowed to watch the earlier films?

Well, I didn't see Serenity 'til it came out on DVD, - THEN - and only - THEN, did I buy FireFly. Before - THEN - I did not know FireFly even existed as It did not make it to TV here.

Lol. I have to say, Troll Country is my favorite forum here so far. I just spent an hour reading all the threads, FUN! Cracked me up a dozen times.

I'm a new browncoat myself but I'm not offended by this thread. While some of the threads here were obviously started by truly hateful trolls with nothing better to do, I can't help but think that this one was meant as a joke. While reading the op, I was laughing so hard I almost threw-up.
