Don’t Forget!! Universal’s
SERENITY Trailer Goes Live In A Few Hours!!
I am – Hercules!!
"Serenity" isn’t due till Sept. 30, but it’s already got itself a dang trailer! It appears on the Apple Movie Trailers site on Tuesday. I was a little hazy on exactly when, so I was going to suggest everyone just keep checking that Apple Movie Trailers site for the next 30 hours or so.
Then the film's writer-director - who doesn’t blame me even a little for ruining his many excellent TV shows with incessant and unnecessary spoilers – wrote in with this:
Herc -- yes it's me […] again. Here's th' vital info: The trailer goes up at 1:00 pm PST tomorrow [Tuesday]. Sing it to the world.

That piece about the trailer in AICN was awfully disrespectful of you, I thought. It made us out to be butt-buddies, which apart from that one magical night under the stars is TOTALLY untrue.

Joss is, of course, kidding. We are still the biggest butt-buddies. Ever. Despite the oddly cold and lawyerly tone of his representatives’ cease-and-desist letters.
I digress.
Beginning 4 p.m. New York time, bask in every ounce of “Serenity’s” ZOIC-y greatness!!
Then we all get to go to the movies on Friday and see that same trailer on the big screen. Probably before “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” Maybe before that movie with the chubby, middle-aged guy who replaces Vin Diesel as “XXX.” Hopefully not before “House of D.” But no promises are made!!

As it says above "The trailer goes up at 1:00 pm PST". PST stands for Pacific Standard Time, that means Washington, Oregon, and California.

lol i missed out on a lie-in today so i could see the trailer before i went to college then it turns out that it wont appear on apple.com until the evening in the UK argh gorram different time zones! I suppose im lucky though ive only just got into firefly after watching the DVD so my wait has been short compared to some...

I assume he meant 1 pm PDT (Pacific Daylight Savings Time) not 1 pm PST (Pacific Standard Time). Unless he's just being tricky, and it will actually be available at noon.

The serenitymovie site maybe, but it's unlikely we'll make a dent in Apple/Akamai's servers: the Lord of the rings trailers were downloaded several tens of millions of times.

Shiny! Though clearly a more mainstream picture of the film than the previous trailer - focus on action over character interaction and the witty banter we know and love.

(sidenote: Oh please, please let there be at least one scene with everyone around the dinner table on Serenity, talking over each other and such...)

Still, looks very cool. I can't stop watching it! Though where's Book? Not much Kaylee, either!

Forget Star Wars; this is the film I want to see!

When I saw the Star Wars trailer I thought "Ooo this looks like it could be pretty decent this time round". When I saw Serenity...well I didn't think about it until the end when the resounding thought was "Wow - Firefly is BACK". I looked up at my DVD shelf, saw my Firefly boxset sat up there and was proud

IMDB still shows Book as one of the characters. Perhaps he has a "surprising" role in the movie, hence no scene with him in the trailer?

I agree with ya!! I LOVE IT!!! I CAN'T WAIT THE MOVIE! 5 months seems so far away for me now. *cries* I'm just so happy I got to see the trailer. I got it tucked away on my favorites list. My mother saw how excited I was when I was downloading it and thought I was a bit crazy.

I've seen it four times today (I'm in a project due Thursday) and let me just say:

That was a BDT with the BDH from the BDM and September can't be here soon enoough (and the fact that I'll be a year older by the time the movie lands into theaters doesn't affect me in the least...)

Awesome trailer, I'm even more excited now (if possible) than I was before.

Looking it the trailer from a mainstream appeal perspective, I wish they'd cut some of those captions. Namely, the quotes from critics makes it look like a TV spot, and I think the BDM needs to get away from the TV feel as much as possible; I'm also not so sure announcing that it's from the "creator of [Buffy and Angel]" is the best idea; let it stand on its own two feet, there are a lot of people who only know Buffy by its name and premise and despise it out of ignorance. I think it has the potential to turn some people off who might otherwise be interested, especially coming at the beginning of the trailer like that.

Just saw HHGG and regret to report no Serenity trailer on that particular big screen. Will go to another theatre tomorrow in the hope that different [read, larger] theatres get different trailers.

I'm not happy with this situation. We need the EXACT same type of people that want to see the Hitcherhikers Guide to see the Serenity trailer. In order for it to succeed it needs to be marketed to lots of different demographics. To pass on HHGG in my theater was silly. There were plenty of folks from 12 to 70 in the theater interested in HHGG. I listened to three 14 year olds sitting behind me "OHHHH" "AAAHHHHH" the Batman Begins trailer. Serenity would have blown them away.
