For those of us who were blessed enough to get shiny tickets, I though we could start making plans for a meetup. Let's do that in this thread
YAY!!!!!!

Is no one interested?

I am extremely interested, but alas, am not able to make it early to Riverside.

Definitely interested - if only I can get a ticket!
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Good luck with that
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Wimpering, because I can't go! Have fun!
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I don't have a ticket, so I won't be going to Riverside.
Does anyone just want to meet and watch episodes on day this summer?
NOTIFY: N | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Looks like my wife and I will be there (possibly with two freinds) but the earliest we will arrive is 7pm, probably much closer to 10. But if anyone knows the area and wants to suggest a place to meet, we will try.

I will try and figure out an easy place for everyone to meet at
And now it's OFFICIAL that it's Serenity being shown in Riverside, so I'm hugging myself.
Continue posting if you want in on the meet up.

A wonderful Browncoat is selling me his extra ticket!! I'd love to be part of the meet-up!
:-)
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I'm also interested if I can get a ticket. Anybody? Anybody? I will pay....
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
A little :bump: so maybe serenityfound will find a ticket!
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Thanks a bunch for the bumps ;)

Hi!
New to the board, but have been Serenity- obsessed since a friend lent me her DVDs. Would you mind a newbie droping by?

Not at all!! Glad to see someone else is interested! Any others?
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I wish that I could. I'll just have to curl up with my DVDs and Finding Serenity book instead.
If you guys do any other type of get together, I would be more than happy to attend.

Ditto the non-movie get together interest. That'd be awesome.
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Cool.
I think my friend and I will be there late afternoonish.

If we were looking for some non-screening meetings, I can offer a suggestion or two.
There is a resturant in Burbank/Toluca Lake called "Sebastians" that has a back room you can rent out. The room has a flat screen plasma tv, pool table and comfy couches. They serve gourmet fries, sandwiches, salads and soups (price range is about $8-14). They don't charge for renting the room. We could watch a couple of the episodes and meet fellow browncoats. Just a suggestion.
There is always a Browncoat pot luck BBQ. Have fun little games and whatnot. I was at a Lord of the Rings one that was pretty fun. No reason why we couldn't do the same. We could even have a squirt gun shootout.
If there was enough interest, I'd be inclined to help organize something.

Can't find it, with either MapBlast (MSN Maps) or MapQuest. Do you have an address & telephone number?

Either the restaurant or the bbq sounds fun to me and I'm off for the next two months because school is out.

For anyone who would like to get together before the movie check out this message and thread at the OB: http://forums.prospero.com/foxfirefly/messages?msg=23594.147
Even if you don't have tickets, you could still come and socialize. Plus there is always the outside chance that someone will have extra tickets. One or two people got lucky that way at the last Phoenix screening.

Thanks for the info on the meetup. Unfortunately, we won't be in the area until after 5:30 at best. Maybe we'll just try and hookup with ya'll in the line.
NOTIFY: N | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Yeah, I don't know if my Mom is going to want to go over to the theater at 6 and wait for 4 hours...
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Well, I won't be making it there very early either. Get off work by 4, get home by 5, feed the dogs and head out. With traffic it'll probably be a three hour drive, so we probably won't be there until 8pm

That sounds cool. I work in Glendale, so it's just a hop, skip...

You'll like it. Try the gravy and cheddar fries. Trust me on this. Best gorrum fries in the 'verse. I work down the street from them and am in there all the time.

Yeah, that's a mite early for where I'm coming from.

Okay, I'm hungry now.
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Thanks for the link Bleyddyn. Anyone who wants to is welcome to show. We do plan on travelling over to the theater around 6-6:30 so if you can't make it we'll see you in line.
Just so everyone knows, there's plenty of fast food places around the theater itself, just nothing I saw that looked like a good shindig location.
And I think I'll be buying a lot of extra breadsticks at Pat and Oscars, cause they are so good. Just follow your nose and find the guy in his shiny new Comic-Con Browncoat Staff T-shirt.
I'll have other things to hand out (I hope) so make sure to say hi!
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
8ish sounds like when my Mom and I might get out there...maybe that's what time rest of us non-early birds can meet?
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I don't have a ticket but I would be interested in meeting fellow LA browncoats. Unfortunately yeah making it to Riverside by 4:30 will be tough. But maybe I can swing it. We'll see. How will I know everyone?
I did catch the Vegas screening last go-round so I don't feel left out. Just eager to meet fellow fans since I know LA shindigs aren't as common as other areas....
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
There will be a large group of uncommonly good looking people gathered in a section of the restaurant.
I'll have a Browncoat Staff t-shirt on with a picture of River on the front and Serenity in large letters on the back.
Other than that I'll tell the people at the counter and other employees who we are in case anyone asks.

Hey Fangirl, your idea for a non-screening meetup interests me as well. If anything like that were to be set-up I'd be in- plus I live near Glendale so option one sounds good.
But will try and say hello to everyone on the 23rd if i can get there in time.
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
I could make it to a shindig sometime this summer. I won't be at the Riverside meetup because I live two hours away without traffic . I don't have ticket to the screening and don't want to make the drive on the off chance that someone has an extra ticket.

Howdy, L.A. Browncoats!
I'm sorry to bug you, but, there's a plan afoot to celebrate Joss' birthday at all the 35 screenings on June 23. Since he's likely to be at your screening, would there be a volunteer here to lead the charge?
The idea is that the leader will bring a Happy B-day banner to the screening for everyone to sign. There are currently 4 designs on the thread at the Universal Board.
Then, at 9:30 (read Sept 30) the leader will lead everyone in a round of Happy Birthday. We've got 20 cities involved already, but no CA locales yet. Any volunteers?
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
it's looking less likely I'll be able to make the pre-screening shindig. However I am still totally down for a non-screening LA browncoat meeting.
Do keep me posted or update this thread if anyone else feels likewise.

What is this about Joss being likely to be at our screening?

Well, Joss does live in LA, no? I'd say that gives us a slightly better chance for a Joss appearance than, let's say, Toronto.

Okay, there are about a million resteraunts around the theater....what kind of food/situation do we want for the meetup? Chinese, Mexican, hamburgers, sandwitches??? If everyone could just quickly post, I'll try and find a place today!

Here are some choices that are RIGHT by the theater:
Quizno's
Subway
KFC
Sizzler
In-and-Out
Lucky Wok Chinese Food
Carrows
P.S. I am a broke college student who JUST finished student teaching, so if anyone wants to donate a dollar for my dinner, you just feel free
It would be a HUGE help!

Fangirl, all the discussion now is going to revolve around the June 23 screening, but I really like your idea of a Sebastian's meetup, either linked with the July advance screening (my wild guess, but there does seem to be a pattern) or around a month before the premiere. Can we get a Sunday night for the people who have to make a drive?
NOTIFY: N | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
Yeah, Mojave is right...this is specific to June 23rd before the screening.
I'm thinking Lucky Wok Chinese, since that's my favorite and no one else has stated a preference

There doesn't seem to be much interest...maybe I'm beating a dead horse.
