I for one am a *huge* anime fan... I hate the phrase "otaku," but I guess it does apply to me (my library includes 300 dvds/videos/vcds
).
I was wondering... is there anyone else into anime on the boards?

Yeah, me. Currently watching the Rurouni Kenshin series (Samurai X), I'm up to episode 58. It's an awesome series.

I love the kenshin OVAs... but the series never really piqued my interest... I did enjoy a lot of the Kyoto arc, but not much else... The fights were really good, though, and I'm looking forward to the new OVAs released recently in Japan.
I just finished watching Now and Then, Here and There. It is an amazing series... art at its best. I *highly* recommend dropping everything you're doing right now and go out and buy it... beware, it's a bit emotionally ravaging, and there are some disturbingly real events that happen throughout the series. It's a great deal too, 13 episodes spread over 3 discs.

I am, but I can't afford to buy many DVDs. I'm too busy buying Lord of the Rings figures or DVD TV series.
The one DVD I *do* own is "Royal Space Force: Wings of Honneamise." I do want to get both Patlabor movies (I have both on tape), eventually I'm getting all the Robotech series (okay, it's not anime but gimme a freebie on this one--I grew up with that show) and I would like to get Record of Lodoss War someday.
I guess I'm not a die-hard fan but I do like the genre, especially when it's good.

I'm not sure whether that was an insult or if you were being sarcastic...
In Japan, it's an insult. That's why I hate the term...

I was gonna say 'me', but listening to you guys I'll have to downsize that to an occasional o/s movie collector. Altho, as a query does anyone know anywher I can get hold of the Vampire Hunter D sequel, they reviewed it on sci-fi then it kinda fell off the map!

Vampire Hunder D: Bloodlust is one of the most mainstream titles out there. You could find it at any decent Best Buy or Media Play/Suncoast Motion Picture. I've even seen it at Wal-Mart! For $16.00, no less! Can't get a better deal than that.

This one's for Furyfire...

I was kinda looking for a more internetty kind of purchasing format. We don't have many Wal-marts in Britain.

I *love* Cowboy Bebop (& Novagrass must love it,too, because of the "Space Cowboy" refernce). I wasn't really into anime all that much before I saw it, but now I'm checking out other series & films. I want to see Outlaw Star just because everyone keeps comparing it to Firefly!

PS--See my CB webpage at http://jupiterjazz.cowboybebop.animeavatars.net. It's not much, but I will probably add to it soon.

Definatly an Otaku.
My favorite anime is Kenshin, especially the OVA's and the Kyoto arc.
After that, it would probably be Berserk followed by Bastard! (Just because having 80's bands as spell names is too funny!)
Then there is Golden Boy, captain tylor, cowboy bebop and trigun, nadesico, outlaw star, those who hunt elves, vandred and I could go on all night but I will just stop now.

Me too, me too.
My favorites in no particular order are:
FLCL (Furi-Kuri)
Cowboy Bebop
Golden Boy
Trigun
Uresai Yatsura - I never can spell that one right.
Video Girl Ai
Niea_7
I'm going to watch Nedisico next.

I am an Otaku.
My favs are Ranma 1/2, Inu Yasha, Urusei Yatsura, Love Hina, and Tokyo Underground, but I'll watch pretty much whatever I can get my hands on.

I've seen all of Cowboy Bebop, and most of Evangelion. I have also dabbled in Hikaru no Go and Ranma 1/2, but I haven't watched much in a while.

I'm a anime fan not an okatu though, I don't get all freaked out about it, like I do about Firefly.

Get it and soon, great series. Classic. I'm trying to get the new Record of Lodoss War, Chronicles of a Heroic Knight. But being a college student, I don't have a lot of money to be throwing around, especially not $160.
You might want to check out Vampire Hunter D and Bloodlust. More great Anime.

True, in Japan being called an otaku by someone is a bit of an insult, but here in the US, we have taken the term and adapted it to represent ourselves, so hold no shame in being called an Otaku my brother, for we are all one in the same!
