I hope y'all don't mind me using this ooc thread to pose a question to you that is unrelated to the gunrunners rp, but yer opinions mean much to me and this is a good forum to ask. I am lucky enough to have found a super sweet gal, and I was thinking of getting her a ring. I feel like I've been corrupted by too many tv shows and movies though to know the proper etiquette. Should ask her and then take her with me to get a ring, or should I ask her with a ring in hand?

Need a little background here first. As shiny as it would be to ask her with ring in hand (and congrats on your good fortune!), she will be the one wearing it for the rest of eternity, so I would think it would be helpful if she liked what she was wearing.

Not having been married myself or proposed to in... oh, awhile, the best I can do for you is refer you to a couple of fellas who have taken the plunge themselves: Static, and SoulOfSerenity. Soul, in particular, has been very open to me when I ask questions with regard to being a newlywed.

On separate note, I've seen the screening, as I mentioned. You and I need to exchange notes.

Indeed we do need to exchange notes, Channy. I loved the movie. There were parts that left me a little, "eh?" though. I'm sure you know which ones. I'm assuming you got my email. I have questions too, cause some of the BDM was confusing.

Thanks for the thoughtful input, and please don't tell Tash.... at least until I've asked my gal. It's a secret and he can't keep one this big. He'll leak out the potential news to people I don't want to know yet. I say "potential" news of course, because I am assuming it will prolly take much begging first before she accepts.

On a side note my hair is starting to look a lot like my avatar picture of Book. I'm very proud.

Hey Maniac!

I add my congrats to Channain's.

I have been married three times. I have been surprised and I have gotten to choose. For me, I appreciated the choice, it is a big decision.

Then if it has to be ordered or sized, the actual DELIVERY can be a surprise and be done inventively.

I have not seen the movie yet, and don't want to be spoilered any more than I already have ...

Hi Ciara! It's great to hear from you. You should post some of your pics for us to gander upon. I think the gunrunners are starting to turn their cranks again. (by the way Capn, great blended post with Damon)
I've been in surreal mode for a few days. a friend died crossing a river last week and the aftermath has taken it's toll. Book will ride again (with a vengeance) soon enough though.

sorry everybody. I'm such a slow poster. Have had way too much to destroy all my free time. somebody shot at me in my car yesterday and I also found out another old friend died. hung himself. very sad. Work is also a troublesome arena. too much and too little. I have been trying to quit drinking too, so there's extra added stress. Anybody got a happy pill for Jon?

CDC Co-DIRECTOR'S COMMENT

Hey Decoy - you know Wash is in the Galley now, right? Not on the bridge? You've still got him initially located on the bridge. I mean part of his brain is probably always located on the bridge... Hey, I have a notion as to his question on the play... heh heh heh.

Also, you can always edit a post rather than adding on a whole new one when things like this happen - pool games in the middle of dinner at the table and such. We're writing pretty slowly these days, so I don't think there's danger of someone posting over you.

Not to be a detail-hounding noodge, but...okay, yes, I am.

Merz -I was going to run my Table Games nine-ball session to see if I could come up with a reference to work from, but I've been little miss lazybones this week, recouping from the last bone-crushing quarter. If you're comfortable making it up as we go, keeping track of which balls vanish when and where, I'm game!

However, you have my love, and my thoughts. Sending you all I have of love plus a goodly portion of my luck, a giant handfull of hope (better than gummy bears), and some of my own, special peppermint tea. Drink tea hot as you can in a tub of hot water, with a piece of Godiva chocolate or any available chocolate.

(I cut down my drinking and quit smoking altogether. Believe me dearheart, I understand.)

Hey folks! Sorry for my radio silence, but my desk at work has moved - making my screen completely visible to anyone who happens to walk by, which limits my online time severely. When you add in that Meoriar and I are in the process of moving to another county (not country, county ), and I'm in feverish packing mode, that leave me very little time for posting. The actual move is happening this weekend, so things should (hopefully) settle out around the beginning of next week.

In the meantime, I'll see if I can sneak some time later today to do a short Zoe post, but if I can't, assume that she's watching the game and her hubby, completely amused at the whole situation.

Love you guys - see ya on the flip side of the move! (Send me lots of organized moving energy, please! )

Great googly moogly - I had no idea how out of practice I was. I don't know how many times I edited my last post, but I think it's final now. Even if it isn't, I'm determined to leave it alone. No kidding. Hellish week for me. good poetry base-BAD for health and smoking habits. Two weeks ago I slept about seven hours in the entire week. At it was not on any regular schedule. I lived and breathed because of Monsters, which I've heard described as "Meth in a can." I call 'em stimpacks (StarCraft players will understand). Dangerous, it was, since I drank about five of them in a day. My body still ain't workin' right.

I am pleased to say that after an extended hiatus, to which I apologize for taking without notice, that I have gotten past the demented and overwhelming obscurities which have darkened my door and am once again prepared to play my role as Book (and Malachi) with gusto! Forgiveness is requested all around the boat. I will endeavor to create an exciting tale with the rest of you. The Pool hall/Galley scene has been most entertaining thus far. Thanks to all.

I'm finally beginning to crawl out of the mire of this last-minute move, and have a couple of short-term fixes in place for connectivity until the long-term ones come through. I should be able to be a bit more active now.

Merz - Not to worry, nothing is amiss - just a massive case of Laziness. I was alone in the house for the entire day Saturday and got a little too friendly with the DVD player. I picked up a couple of movies that are on my "Meant to watch that but never did for some reason" list and hunkered down. I found that "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" wasn't what I thought it would be, and Clive Owen can still be broody/creepy even when he's being a good guy.

Maniac Garsh - Thanks! Most of my drawing is done for classes these days. I gotta scan some of the newer stuff, methinks.

Contrary to what you all must be thinking, I am not, in fact, lying dead in an alley or anywhere else for that matter. I have been having some issues with my spine lately that cause sitting at the computer at home to be less that comfortable. I'm planning to make up for my transgressions on Monday.

At the moment, I'm at a coffee shop on the way out of town to go visit the folks for a couple of days. See you all on the flip side!

Also, caught the new trailer for the BDM during Firefly last night HEE! In the coming weeks, they'll be showing interviews and behind the scenes bits.
