Message from UIP regarding UK Screenings

Just received the following from one of the very nice people at UIP:

"Having met a few of you die hard fans now - I went along to the excellently
organised StarFury event - I realise what a dedicated lot you are. I met
some really nice people during that event. We are very keen to include the
UK fans in all aspects of our campaign, so feel free to pass along any
thoughts you may have.

I've just come off a conference call with Unviersal, and our UK paid
screenings have just been greenlighted, which is good news.
Will update on venues/date (we'll probably emulate the US and do in 2 or 3
stages so that we can cover off as many cities as possible). More news to
follow soon-ish."

So, there ya go :)

fantastic news! i was wondering if there were going to be anymore screenings here, and paid ones too. very cool.

though i can imagine the whole ebay debacle again.

The thing about the whole tickets on eBay - the way to do it would be to setup a temporary account and just get a few people to bid in the region of £1,000,000,000 - and try to get UIP to remove the listings, just like the Live8 tickets etc. with bob Geldolf & co.

It`s not a lie, but it`s also not definite as yet, we may have to do some travelling to get to these new screenings of the full film, I might be able to provide transport for people on the way to the screening I will attend - although it all depends on the solid facts when they come through

Also depends on ticket availability. Wouldn't surprise me if this sells out pretty quick (not US quick, mind).

well if any are london based, i'll be there. went to the 2nd preview screening, so i have seen a version of the movie. would be great to get to another preview screening, but aint the end of the world if i dont!

Apologies for duplicating a thread at the Browncoats site, but I hope that at least one screening will be in Glasgow between 4th and 8th of August. Because 4,000+ science fiction fans are gathering there for Interaction the Worldcon. Easy win for the Browncoats.

(It would be great if they showed Joss's video beforehand like at the US screenings, or perhaps he'll record another one for us brits!)

The screenings are not planned for the beginning of August and therefore the chance of screening in Glasgow at that time is pretty much a zero. Sorry to disappoint but as I have said on other boards the screenings are to occur towards the end of August not at the beginning.

There may be a SERENITY presence in Glasgow at that time at WorldCon (I've been talking to UIP about it), although not a prescreening. There will very likely be prescreenings close in Scotland shortly after, though.

I dont mind when I have it really

We could either band together and book a corner of a restaurant in london

or I can can hire a smallish hall with a bar local to me (watford, about 20 mins outside central london) and I can get a friend to lay on some food, and we can do that.

Im one of those people that loves to organise things. so you let me know what you want, i will work stuff out and let you know

I reckon what would be nice is to have a full blown party for the London Premier, the August preview screening(s) will probably have their own little thing going on once the full info gets out - I reckon it may be a case of an overnight stay at at least one of the locations.

pop into www.browncoatevents.com & http://shindigcentral.proboards20.com/ (Shindig Central) and start promoting it as a possible idea, see how much interest can be drummed up - the August Shindig for Memorabelia is going ahead but we need more people to buy tickets & support both the Shindig & the UK Firefly/Serenity Fantable - UIP are sponsering us, so I expect we will have lots of mighty fine goodies to give away (not to mention something to watch )
