Here's a fun one (I hope),
In the sci-fi world of TV and movies, which character would you be, not who would you like to be; which sci-fi character comes closest to your actual character- and don't be so picky about physical resemblance, it doesn't matter in here anyway ( I'd like to be Mal, myself, but I ain't that much of a leader-type, and I'm not as dark as he can be).
So, here it is:
I'm Luke Skywalker. Take away my dopey sense of humour and that's me (I knew there was good in Vader, too).

I think I'm gonna say Kassidy Yates. She does her own thing. She doens't always do the right thing and she accepts the consequences of said actions. She loves her man, despite their differences. She is a good hearted woman. She may be a bit more strong than I am.

Willow from Buffy. Not so smart, but smartish, geeky (but geeks are in, right?

I am Kaylee.... no wait.....yea I am. That is not a cop-out, easy answer either (well, maybe it is). I am generally happy, loyal to friends, try to make people feel better, will put the little finishing touches on things.

I think I'm closest to Cpt Picard: stiff, formal, moralistic, and always going for the neat resolution. But then again sometimes I feel more like Meg Murray (A Wrinkle in Time) - not as smart as her brilliant younger brother or as intuitive as her older friend. And as hard as I tried to come out different, my FF character is definitely Zoe... not that I have anything against Zoe, it's just that I'm bored being so much like myself.
But what I'd LIKE to be like is Signy Mallory (Downbelow Station) complete with life extension treatments!

That fits me to a tee! Have you ever seen such a rain of shit come down on a character like Marty? What does Marty do...Marty overcomes...That's what he does! Marty is an action kind of guy...He doesn't back down (to his detriment, sometimes) Tries to follow directions to the letter, and never made out with his mother!
When Marty is pushed into action, he became a hero. Granted, he only saved himself (and Doc, and his siblings...and his parent's marriage...okay...the guy's really a hero), but Marty McFly gets the job done, baby...and That's what I'm talkin' about!!!

Most likely be Mal. Frequently dark, use cruelty as humor ("She's dead"), generally a loner, don't open up to people too much, can be humorous with my friends, fiercely protective of my close group of friends, generally untrusting of other people, love my guns (but haven't gone so far as to name them), tend to end up doing what's right in the end even if it takes me a while to get there, and I do, on occasion, enjoy hitting people with closed fists. Or a chair...whatever's handy. Plus, I kind-of speak like him, growing up in the South and Northwest. Southern style without the accent.

Good question....I always thought Moreta from the Pern Dragonrider books was a pretty good match for me, but I do tend to be an interesting mix of leader, brainiac and goofball, so hard to pin down....
I always said my Klingon character was based on Keh'lahr (Worf's girlfriend--I like her kick butt yet elegant demeanor and smartaleck attitude. A little touch of Aeryn Sun (Farscape), a smattering of Kaylee's perky can-do personality, and we're getting close.

Well, I'm a little taller than Marty, but not by much. Okay...I'm four inches taller than Marty McFly. But, think about this. Watch Aladdin...And, if you see a similiarity between Aladdin and Marty, its because Aladdin had two body models, or rather, he was based physically on two people. Strangely one of them was MC Hammer (Whose superpower it is to lose a shitload of money, but find God on the way), and the other was Marty McFly. At one point, Michael J. Fox was supposed to provide the voice for Al, but it didn't work out. But, the animators still made Aladdin move like Marty. Its something I hadn't really noticed until I got the trilogy on DVD, but its there.
I know that's not supposed to be anything cool, but, hey...I think that rocks!

I gues i'm a lot like xander, cause in high school i hung ut with a lot of hot girls that i had no chance with, i sometimes crack funny jokes, graduated from school with four D's and an A-( and proud of it!) and am in no way going to collage. i'm like spike in the fact that a lot of the time i'm just as happy being alone( plus i smoke like crazy) and kinda like shepard book in that i try to reform people that i care about(and , ya know, chistian.)
Also that guy from the first episode of buffy, the one guy who was xanders friend, can't remember his name. I've literally had a girl laugh at me when i asked for her number.

Ironically, 'Giles' was my nickname in college and I hated it. I had a friend who loved to watch Buffy and he gave me the nickname.
It was the way I spoke clearly and wore glasses. I sometimes took my studies seriously which didn't help.

I don't watch much sci-fi, honestly...
But I'd have to say Kaylee. Seriously, she's the one I relate to most.
I love to see, and constantly look for, the best in things and people. I appreciate the smallest details just for the fun of it. I'm incredibly loyal to the people I love and I don't mind wheedling my way into a little attention when I can. I take care of my belongings and appreciate what they do for me (people think I'm weird because I name and talk to my car, my computer, etc...). I like to personalise my spaces and have been known to decorate my work space with quirky touches.
And I love that Kaylee has such a *healthy* attitude to everything: food, sex, play, relationships. Because that's me, too.
And a million other reasons. She's just so real.
This is who I relate to most.
And for comparison, the other sci-fi shows I watch that I could have chosen from are: Buffy, Angel and Dark Angel.

Firstly, while I would have preferred my profile saying I'm most like Zoe (strong, capable, etc), I'm most like Jayne! I can't figure that out.
When I was young I most wanted to be like Spock, but I've always been too emotional. I'm probably more like Sulu: a bit of a hot head though in control of it, smart, savy. Oh, that's probably why I rated most like Jayne...the hot head part.
I'd like to say I'm like Kaylee, affectionate, nurturing, all that. My friends indicate I am, but I don't feel like it. After years of sleep deprivation (kids and school), I'm not as sweet as I once was (grouch would be an appropriate word, which would NOT be Kaylee). I'm trying to turn that around.
I'm also like Holly 13 (Farrah Faucet's character) in Logan's Run. Honestly, when I was 27 I was getting a lot of ribbing for being an airhead. I called my mom and asked if I was one and she said, "Well, dear, yes you are." Remember "Spock's Brain" when Kara (Marj Dusay) says, "Brain and brain: what is Brain!?" Well, I've made the mistake of using that in front of my kids and, yep, they've used it when I'm being a ditz.
Hmmm, a smart airhead? Yeah, that's another Jayne
trait.
Lastly (though I'll probably think of more but won't put them here), I most empathized (at the time) with the last droid in Silent Running. All these years later I still get a little weepy thinking about that droid being left alone in that habitat. Sniff.

Wow! Well, I didn't see those in the theater, but I did see 2001: A Space Odessy in the theater. I was pretty young, so it was pretty confusing. Just to take this in another direction, I took the Firefly Personality Test listed in one of the blog entries today. (I'm a newbie to this site and board, still trying to find my way around.)
It says I'm either Simon or Inara. Now I can see how I could be Simon (no, I have no siblings, crazy or not). But Inara? I apparently have some other, um, "talents" with untapped potential.
Personally, my sense of humor is more like Wash, so I was expecting some similarity there.
For other sci-fi? Spock was my hero as a kid. Daniel Jackson, because I like languages.
I'm a big Farscape fan, but I'm personally not like any of the characters. For Dark Angel, I'm a little like Logan, maybe.

Okay, I'm going for something different. The person in sci-fi I am closest to is Vinnie Gognitti from Max Payne. It's sort of sci-fi (he can slow down time). The reason I'm like Vinnie is because I want to be higher up in the chain of command but I always seem to be taking orders from someone above me (better than)

Anyways, we're going a secret infilitration mission to One Eyed Jack's. Another character I loved from that show was Deputy Andy. It was so easy to feel sorry for him, and it was nice to have one nice character that wasn't a suspect.
Also, he and Lucy were so cute!

I'm like Spock, mostly: a little confused about human interaction, especially when it is illogical. I have this tendency to think of emotionality as weakness (in the self, at least). Like Spock, I can do social interaction if it is explained and coached a bit.
On my good and bad days I'm more like River on her good and bad days, respectively.
These characters are both my favourite of their series. I think with Spock it's mostly because I identify with and understand him. With River, it's just because she is goddamn awesome. I was very pleased to be able to say that I am sometimes like her. Of course, on my bad days it really isn't that good...

I've always thought it would be fun to be Slippery Jim diGriz AKA: The Stainless Steel Rat.
No matter how oppressive and technological a society gets, there will always be rats in the woodwork so-to-speak... people who can sneak through the cracks by turning the technology against itself and work the system to their favor from outside of it. Is Slippery Jim a high tech thief? or is he the liberator of the future?
Those are fun stories (by Harry Harrison) that left an impression on me.
