Morning everyone, how are you all today?

Goodluck with the Summer hunt Matt.

I just got this email at work:
I have been let down at the last minute, and have a spare weekend camping ticket available for the Reading Festival, this coming weekend, which I don’t want to let go to waste. I go to Reading every year, and it is a great event!

I am happy to let the ticket go free of charge to anyone that is daft enough to want to head along with me, all I would ask is that you make a donation to Action Aid who are the sponsored charity for the weekend and will be collecting at the event. Face value on the ticket is c£120, but you can donate what you feel is appropriate (I promise not to look).

Gah, got plans this weekend! Not fair!

But I ain't got any plans at all for tonight...

Enjoy the film guys - can't say I was too bothered about meeting Joss anyway!!

(OK, so the "dentist" is my secret "I have to leave work early" plan, held over from a couple of weeks back when I was supposed to meet some friends in London. So I plan to leave at 4pm and catch a train...spooky thing is that my boss's wife left at 4pm yesterday - to catch a train to London. That was nearly very inconvenient....)

G'morning, Randomites. For those seeing that dreary rip-off of tired old anime themes at the theater today, I squee in your general direction.

It's going to be a quiet evening in Spinland. My oldest daughter and her boyfriend are moving down to Georgia next week (to take work opportunity which is sorely lacking up here in upstate NY), and they're spending the evening hanging out with us as sort of a good-bye. Might be an opening to drop in a DVD at some point (hmm, they're up to "Shindig" methinks) but more likely just chatting and visiting.

The weekend will be interesting, for sure. We'll be helping a former workmate move into his new house, and they're going to cook for us. Piles and piles of yummy Puerto Rican food! They both cook like geniuses.

Oooh, so happy for him!!! (He's going to be unbearable for the next few weeks though. Unbearable in a cute way.) I used to say the opposite thing about Florida. No one knew what to do when it rained (even though it rains nearly every day in the summer.) A common scene amongst my friends and I:

Me: Oh no! What is this wet substance falling from the sky?

Friend: The sky is falling! The sky is falling! The end is near! We're all going to die!!!

All of us: Mock panic, the occasional running around in circles, etc. etc.

Meanwhile, because of the rain, traffic is at a near standstill, everyone's going at least 20 miles under the speed limit, there's a traffic jam at the entrance to any building because no one dares walk out into the rain, so they all just stand there, huddled in front of the entrance. It was so very annoying. It's just rain people! It'll be over in an hour.

I went to Orlando last November with my sister - please explain this to me:

People go on all the water-rides and are happy to go soaked. Yet the minute a teeny bit of rain comes down, the macs come on. Where is the logic? Plus I'm sure the rain water is a darned sight cleaner than what's on those rides!

Oh, and save the cocktails for afterwards, it ain't a film you can spare 5 minutes from to go to the loo and it sure as hell isn't one you can sit through with any kind of alcohol induced giddyness! Fray: To your question:
1) I don't understand either. People are crazy. But people in Orlando doubly so. Most of them are tourists anyway. I was there last weekend and in line for ice cream at a friendly's there was us, the locals; a hispanic father and his two children, also probably locals or migrants, hard to tell; a family from England (didn't ask where, but the daughter was SO cute telling us all about how she met Captain Hook and that he was "very very angry") and then this mother and her daughter from NYC.
