No, me too! Not a one of them is wearing something their characters would wear.
Not to be negative, but I like Summer with less make-up, Gina in practical clothes, Jewel Staite with any flesh at all, and above all-I have a policy against preachers in tight pants!

They are so sexy as they are in the show (and from the trailer, River's gonna be even sexier in the movie). Looking like models in a hair ad is a step down. And only Cap'n Tightpants' pants should be tight.

Great shots. But I have to ask, did anyone else think that the robe Jewel was wearing was a little skimpy? Everyone else was wearing actual dress*. Now, of course, I could be wrong and that green robe is supposed to pass for a real dress. They all looked beautiful, including Jewel, in their shots.

*definition of actual dress = a dress that goes down far enough that you aren't going to be exposing anything other than more leg when you bend over.

I just want to say that that is a group of very, very, very pretty people (and I'm including the men in that description). Somehow, I find it to be terribly unfair when people get to be both hot AND talented. It's just so wrong. Oh well. Such is life.

Also, the green robe/dress thing was not too short. Of course, I'm a guy and terribly attracted to Jewel so I may be a bit biased.

Well, I'm a guy, and I grew up in a house full of women. (like Joss in that respect: the irony aint lost on me)

Frankly, I am in the 'they look better in the firefly outfits' opinion... because.... well, someone said it before, that the shampoo commercial thing is sort of a step down.

Now, I don't want this to be a rant against our wonderful BDHs... they all look great, though I'm afraid I can't support the choice of clothing, or at least, camera angles. Just my opinion...

So, i'll take my rant to society: it is a sad thing that these talented women, well, i wont say that its sad that they chose what they wore, but that we, the viewer of the photos (especially the... male... viewers), find another meaning in the clothes than them just being beautiful works of fashion design... Ok, i'm ranting, i'll try to make more sense:

I don't appreciate that our society idolizes women for their sex appeal rather than even their own looks, (ie, there are some really cool pictures of the cast that arent trying to be... provacative) and one thing I liked about Firefly was that the characters, females especially, were so much alive that the teenage demographic idea never kicked in, even with inara, because i had too much respect for the characters....

Also I could offer to prove my point in the sense that there are only pictures of the women and not the men, *cough* catering to use damned males *cough*.......

Ok, that was probably inflamatory and annoying, but just something I had to say. Enjoy.

I'm glad you agree. At least I'm not totally out of it. As for Wonder Years, I used to watchit all the time when I was younger but have been catching a few episodes recently every now and again as it's being shown on Paramount, and its still a great show

Well, I can say that I agree, the photographer must have been a salesman of some type before his current career. I must also say that the man knows his craft, as those are some very pretty photographs, both the group and individuals.
As for the running arguement on whether this is a violation of our sacred trust in the spirit of Firefly, remember...the actor is not just the part you best know them for. I am quite sure they all enjoyed doing that photo shoot, especially Morena, Jewel, Summer, and Gina, since they look quite happy in the photos. Everyone loves getting glammed up once in a while, and it does good things for the soul. Besides, as someone pointed out, this pictures are definitely useable as career aids to the cast, especially the females.
I do agree that it is a little sad that our society focuses on women (especially when they are glammed up) as sex objects first, and the artistry and sheer vibrancy that is those photos, since it is obvious that our BDHs poured their souls into them, clearly just having fun with the opportunity.
So I say we appreciate them, and DO laminate them for any of you lucky enough to get them signed. Me, on the other hand, have to run off now and organize my nice little social "get-together" of only a hundred or so people you may or may not recognize. Trust me, the stars that you love are some of the better people in the business.

I don't think there is any argument going on, and I don't think anyone is claiming this is a violation of a sacred trust. Just some of us think that these pics are the hottest thing EVAR, and some of us think that our BDH's are five times sexier as their characters.

No one would confuse the actor with the role unless they were very confused themselves. I've never kidded myself that it's Allyson Hannigan I lust for, rather than Willow. I don't know these actors (although by all reports they're nifty people), but I do know the characters... and I know what I like.

Is Kaylee this size in the movie?

I seem to recall reading somewhere that Jewell had to gain 20 pounds to get the right look for Firefly. In these photos she seems to have lost those extra pounds.

Just curious. Does anyone know?

Jewel set the record straight at a Con. Here's what she said...

Q: What did you think about Joss wanting you to gain weight for your role as Kaylee??

Jewel: I, I had broken my collar bone about a year before I got the part of Kaylee. And, when I broke that collarbone, I sat on my ass and ate for like 2 months. And I gained about 20-25 pounds. And once I was better and healed, I was like "Ok, I can't fit into any of my favorite pants. What's going on??" So I started working out, and I started doing yoga, and I really got into yoga, and I was really enjoying it. And I lost all the weight and I was feeling real happy. I was in the best shape I had ever been in. And then Joss was like "Yeah - can you gain 20 pounds??" >>laughs, general laughter<< I was like "God! Why?" I was in a jump suit and I was like "You can't see anything. I mean I have a round face anyway, no matter what I do. But, like what's the big deal??" But he just wanted her to be, he just wanted her to be round. He describes her as round. Round personality. She's round, she's got this round fullness around her. She's so full of love, and happiness, and feeling. She's so emotional. He's like "I just see her as, you know, a voluptuous kind of woman." I was like, >>pause<< "Um ok." >>general laughter<< So, he gave me about 3 weeks... And, which is not a lot of time >>general laughter<< when you're in your early 20s it's hard to put that weight on immediately. Like it's probably not gonna be like that forever for me, but uhh, it was difficult. So I ate a lot of cheeseburgers and french fries and piled on the calories, didn't work out. And I was very tired at first. I just felt so full and bloated. And I was just like "Ugggh, oh God! This is just horrible." And Nathan would come up to me and I'd be at Kraft Service eating a donut. And he'd be like "How ya doing??" I'd be like >>rolls eyes<< "I'm so full!" I was full all the time. For the movie, Joss was like "You know what?? You're Kaylee. I'm not going to give the part to anybody else. So, don't worry about the weight gain thing. You can do what you want." And I was like "Alright! Cool. Thank you. Appreciate that." So now I can just eat what I want and when I'm full I can stop. It's nice.

And, much easier on poor Jewel. Gaining and losing weight like that is not healthy. Jewel has a special place in heart: it was her proselytizing Jerry Pournelle at a SF convention, reported on his website, that led me to Firefly in the first place.

Yeah. Poor Jewel! ...Course, I hope it isn't too obvious in the movie. I'm already in shock about Book looking so different. Guess the rules of his order changed?

i think speechless is the proper word to use.

They all look so gorgeous espesicially Morena and i absolutely love the single shots of her.She looks so beautiful in them.She's definitely the perdiest of gang but they're all good looking people.
