If you had your own cool spaceship (or more than one) in the Firefly sci-fi universe, what witty or cool name/s (other than anything as dull as a normal person’s Christian name) would you call it or them and please say why, for each spaceship.

But again I say I have always liked "The Dauntless" from E.E.Doc.Smith's Lensman series(pretty sure it was that series, but definitely one of his series of books).

Yep, this has been posted before, but its kinda fun to think about such things, I'm having problems naming my brand new spaceship, err, erm no I'm not, what spaceship...

DragonFly was the name I was going to give a 3D model I have in mind for an Independents 'Dropship'/Combat transport, that was made by the same company/design team as the FireFly, cool...

....After much consideration I think I'd have to go with :

The Dog

I think it'd feel right y'know saying things like:
"Ok everyone, back on The Dog!"

Or if some officious fello were to enquire:
"Who's dog is that?"

I'd be like:
"That's my Dog....!!!!"

Or space peeps be asking:

"Man that Dog is one quiiiick son of a bitch!!!!"

and I'd be like:

"Yah huh!!! Better believe it... Fastest pooch in the 'verse!!!!"

and everyone knows a dog is a mans best friend so it's sorta fitting.

I want a pretty name for a BDShip. Something like Trixabelle, the hardest warship in the 'verse.

Oh, you shouldn't have mentioned that. At the start of Descent 3, I cried when the ship got destroyed.

Anyways, I'd call my ship The Silver Angel. Because it sounds good.

Ship names I might pick (and curiously, I might actually have the opportunity one of these days).

1: For a trading ship, it's hard to beat George R.R. Martin's ship for his character Haviland Tuf: "The Cornucopia of Excellent Goods at Low Prices."

2: Personal Sentimental Favourite: "Rick D. Husband." Guy was a classmate of mine. One of the good guys. Google him.

3. Alternative Sentimental Favourite: "Mary Ellen Carter." From the song by Stan Rogers.

4. "Serenity." One of the guys that used to work for me had a personalized plate on his Corvette ZR-1 that said, "Kp Flyin." I like the idea a lot.

5. "Enterprise." There's a song by Jean Stevenson that has the lyric, "These sister ships of different times have ever harboured iron men.." It's not just the Trek ship, but the whole idea that that name should always be flying.

6. "Risa." My wife.

The top of my list is "Filthy Whore" (film referance) so I'll be able to say things like:
"Get off that Filthy Whore!" and
"Don't let them touch the Filthy Whore!" or
"Seeya hon, I'm going back to the Filthy Whore"

My second choice would be (freetrader) Beowulf....any old time gamers may remember the pen and paper rpg called Traveler. That was the ship named on the original box cover.

That would be pretty valuable to some people....have you taken it to a con and shopped it around? I still have multiple copies of all the books and supplements, all well worn.

Yall are gonna think this is a lack of originality and me being a copy cat, but I'd name my ship, "Serenity".

I'm not copying Firefly, this is just the name that I'd name a ship or some thing before I even heard of Firefly. Honestly if I ever have a daughter I want to name her, Serenity.
