Hi,

A friend and I are having fun while watching Firefly and she said "What shows would not want to see crossover with firefly" as well as "Shows that would make great crossover episodes"

My top choices for shows I'd least like to see crossover with Firefly

The Lost World - As much as I think this a cute show and how cool would if be if wash could of seen dinosaurs I just didnt think it would work.

Mutant X

Shows that would of made cool crossovers

Charmed - The Charmed ones on board! it be cool!
Angel
Buffy
Both Stargate Series

I'd love to see the crew encounter some Aliens from the movie "Aliens". Maybe give the crew some pulse rifles etc.. Maybe even meet Ripley. I know, I know she's dead but stranger things have happened.

D'you know, I think Kaylee would make an ideal companion for the Doctor of Doctor Who fame!

Also, the 2000AD comic Strontium Dog (in which the only career option for mutants of the future is state sanctioned bounty hunting) reminds me a lot of Firefly. How would Johnny Alpha get on with Mal?

I gotta tell you, just about every show I like nowadays I wonder about the FF crossover perspectives...

YES: DR. WHO, STAR TREK: VOYAGER

NO: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (I just don't like the idea of them in the same boat as the humans in that show. The struggle should always be of just trying to survive in general, not being on the run from killer robots with the extinction of the human race a possibility. Too depressing for me.)

* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

And wow! Hey! What's this thing suddenly coming towards me very fast? Very very fast. So big and flat and round, it needs a big wide sounding name like ... ow ... ound ... round ... ground! That's it! That's a good name - ground! I wonder if it will be friends with me?

Bubba Ho-Tep and Firefly could work pretty well as a crossover.
I can imagine the crew picking up cargo and the soul sucking Mummy being in one of the crates. At night, old Bubba could come alive and wander the decks of Serenity. It would have to set at least 30 years in the future when the BDH's are old and wrinkly though.

You're suggesting that Joss should script a movie in which a crew of outlaws and mercenaries(though mostly good guys at heart) should encounter the long presumed dead Ripley, followed by a battle with Aliens?

That's just crazy talk!

Good:

1) Battlestar Galactica would be fine, if the Cylons came in as a new threat, new to that area of space. You could actually have some interesting plot lines with a temporary "common enemy" with the Alliance. Maybe bring back a more seasoned version of that Alliance guy from Bushwacked? He's the one Alliance guy that seemed quasi-intelligent. He could be torn between the Alliance party line and the Browncoats' view...

2) Aliens, same reason.

3) Strictly on a charater basis, I'd love to see the Gibbs from the CBS show "NCIS" meet Mal. I see them as similar characters, but on opposite sides of a "central authority". The teams of both shows would be interesting to put in the same room (or ship).

4) Quantum Leap. Wouldn't that be great to see Scott Bakula's character turn up as Zoe, Mal or River? Ooo - or Niska?

Not good:

1) Star Trek or Star Wars. Their universes are too cut-and-dried to get along well with Firefly's. Not enough gray areas.

2) Any magic themed show - Charmed, for example. I like the show, but I just don't like to combine those types of themes. Too much tendency for the science of one show to get lost.

3) Any superhero show - Batman, Superman, The Incredibles . Same reason.

Did you know Joss was supposed to have written a script for one of the shows in the current (2005) series of Doctor Who? Unfortunately, he didn't get the chance to hand in the script... :( Still, Kaylee as the Doctor's assitant? Sounds great to me.

I'm currently working on a Final Fantasy VII/firefly crossover fanfic (those crazy Blue Sun guys!), so I advocate that.

Greatest. Crossover. Ever. would have to be with Angel. Serenity could land on a moon or something and find Spike and Angel still arguing about who would win: Astronauts or Cavemen. Then some reavers could show up so they could test their theory, proving Angel right at last as Mal, Jayne and Zoe easily gun down the reavers.

Back to topic. I can see the Dr. Who thing. In general, I don't like crossovers. However, I'd love to see them be cartoons. Just one episode. Wouldn't that be fun? They wouldn't need a reason, just not be fleshy. Sigh. For an episode? What am I...high? They're not on tv anymore.

Awl, thanks twg, I love you too.

Oooh, I didn't actually put down a crossover. Doctor Who would probably work but only as a Who episode, the Doctor doesn't fit well as a special guest character but drop him into a rugged setting and bob's your uncle.

If we could do movies, how about Firefly meets Blazing Saddles?

I think crossovers with Firefly are a terrible idea.

However...

I've joked with friends that a Firefly/Cowboy Bebop crossover would be fun. I'd like to see the Mal Reynolds vs. Spike Spiegel fight, as well as Jayne Cobb vs. Jet Black. I think the crew of Serenity would be very, very badly beaten by the slick, professional bounty hunters... For the first three acts before figuring out a way to turn the tables and get away with their skins intact... If just barely.

How about "Oklahoma"?

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, Persephone
where the Alliance is really far away
where a Firefly
can save a guy
shooting lazy bad guys with his gun

..or "Les Miserables"...

I dreamed a dream of days gone by
where Niska never got away
I dreamed the engine never died (in OoG)
and we kept flyin', flyin', flyin' ...

... and of course, feelin' really Frankenstein-y here, if we crossed Survivor and Firefly, anyone voted off the ship would be sucking vacuum ...

A crossover with Firefly? Maybe 'The 4400', that would explain why Summer is in both, and why her characters have an ever so slightly skewed view on reality, and special powers.

I should elaborate now that someone agrees!

I don’t want it to be comic-booky. Oh no, this should not be too realistic. If they’re going to be cartoons, they need to look like cartoons. I don’t want them to be magna or anime styled cause then we’re flying into Bebop territory. No. Cartoony. I’m not sure how to explain this. Not perfect. Not realistic in any way. Kaylee would have little pink circles on her cheeks because she’s happy…Jayne could have lots of gruff looking specs on his face as stubble. Just raw and bubbly and there should be cartoon sound effects. Boings and pows and such.

I’m insane.

I am a fan of the crossover idea, but not in the sense of "this ship is stronger than that one" or "Mal could beat Kirk in a fist fight" (most likely). I would like to see Mal et al in the Cantina sitting around a table with Han Solo, swapping smuggling stories. A table in the corner has a couple of Colonial Viper pilots playing whatever card game they play. It's a scenario you wouldn't likely see Star Trek officers, but Worf on the other hand, would fit right in. Plus I'd love to see Jaynes reaction to the other alien species.

But the main reason is: there is nothing I'd like better than to see my favorites ships sharing the same sky.

Just my 2 cents worth, and at the current exchange rate.....oh well...

Like Mal would fistfight Kirk...He'd just shoot him out from under that toupee...Points to Mal!

Does anyone see a resemblance in Mal to Indiana Jones? Anyone at all? I mean, there are times that intelligence seems to be pouring out of him. His vocabulary is great! Both characters seem to get run through the ringer all the time, with hardly a moments peace. Both guys have run someone through an engine...Both have shot an adversary rather than fight him. Both oppose crushing military forces. I mean, I see the obvious comparison to Han Solo, but for some reason, it doesn't sit right with me...

Kaylee: "What's so damn important about being proper? It don't mean nothing out here in the black."
Simon: "It means more out here. It's all I have..."

My handle is ShinySeven because that's what I call the Blakes7/Firefly crossovers I write. B7 is the *perfect* crossover because it has the same worldview.

There's a LiveJournal "Scoobies in Space" ficathon where the challenge is to have one or more Buffy or Angel character in either Firefly, Star Wars or Star Trek; I'm writing "The I in Tam"--you don't fix Faith, she fixes you.

How about the A-Team? There are Serenity RPG stats for them as an ex-Alliance spec-ops team on the run in the Waves In The Black forum at http://www.aimoo.com/forum/postview.cfm?id=671180&CategoryID=455831&st

with my comments. Can you imagine a conversation between River and Murdock? And Face's reaction to the bevy of beauties on board? Would Mal be jealous that Hannibal's plans always seem to "come together" while his plans "and what takes place ain't ever exactly been similar"? Would Jayne and BA have an attitude problem or find common ground in their love of weapons?

Staying on a military theme, how about After M*A*S*H in the Black? For Alliance Colonel Sherman Potter, Serenity Valley was the last straw. Forced by orders to wait helplessly in orbit while the two sides hammered out the terms of surrender, he and his M*A*S*H unit had to listen to the Browncoat's desperate pleas for aid as the survivors of the battle slowly died. When his medship was finally allowed to set down, there was hardly anyone left to save. Unable in good conscience to continue to serve a government he no longer believed in, he turned down the offer of a prestigious post as director of a major Alliance veteran's hospital, and with several of the former officers under his command signed up with the Hippocrates Foundation to crew one of their Firefly class "Mercy ships" bringing medical care to the Rim. What about StarTrek: the Next Generation, because who wouldnt like to see the Borg fight the alliance. C'mon I mean just because they would like to "ASSIMILATE" everyone doesnt mean that they shouldn't be given a chance. Maybe Counselor Troi would give Inara a run for her money. Riker could get to be fast friends with Simon, and Kaylee could get to work on B4. (B4 took data's place when he blew up).Zoe could get training from everyones favorite klingon, Worf.

I think a cross over with Babylon 5 would work real well. Both have enough dark area to fit well plus seeing Mal deck Sheridin or maybe Garabaldi would be fun and Zoe and Susan would have beating each other up. Oh and River meets freind, they may be power crazed telepaths but something along the lines of that.

YES! But only if it had Bruce's "Elvis." I'd say JFK too, but, you know. R.I.P. Ossie Davis. Another character to cross over needs to be Evil Dead's Ash. Or George Romero's zombies.

Well, for one of my choices I'd have to jump on the Doctor Who bandwagon. We'd just have to hope the TARDIS didn't materialize in Jayne's room or it'd be an awfully short episode.

The other choice is going back aways (yeah, I know, like Doctor Who wasn't)to the seventies, and going for the extreme silly factor...Quark. Just what they'd need: space garbagemen(dustmen) to go with a botched job. Maybe someone accidentally tossing the haul into a planetary garbage center and out intrepid anti-heroes chasing the Quark crew to get it back. Or not. Dumb, huh?

The crossover I'd most hate to see: Seinfeld. it's the only thing I can think of that would make an ep of Firefly completely unwatchable for me.

i reckon Stargate would be good. SG-1 or Atlantis. One thing that bugs me about those shows is that whenever they go to another world, the people there always speak all stately and proper. Haven't they ever heard of slang?? I could just see the SG-1 team arrive through a Stargate at the Blue Sun headquarters, then be rescued by River, then she could help them get back to Earth using... something or other, and all the while their thinking 'Where the f*** have we ended up!!!!' That would be awesome.

I reckon any crossover with a show that involves magic (eg, buffy, charmed etc.) would just totally mess with the mythology of firelfy.

BSG would be cool. i would love to see Starbuck (from the new one, not the old one) and Zoe get into it though. I could see them hating each other!!!! And Callie (i dunno if thats how you spell it) and Kaylee would spend hours in the engine room, arguing over how to fix the compression coil.

Oh, and Doctor Who would be cool too.

While not a movie or series, I think that Joss could easily bring in Robert Heinlein's "Future History" characters, like Lazarus Long.

The world that Joss came up with for Firefly (frontier planets, like a western) is quite similar to that of RAH's "Future History."

I think the immortals from Highlander could fit into the Firefly universe pretty well.

Aside from the conceit of immortals existing, and the occasional psychic, there really are no other magic/supernatural elements. It would be cool if there were a few people floating around the verse who remembered Earth that was.

The following will only make sence to those fammiliar with Highlander:

I think the rules of the immortal game would have to be changed to suit interplanetary-travel. Spaceships would have to be akin to holy ground, ie. no fighting. Imagine what the effects of a quickening would have upon a space craft. And imagine the horor at the idea of an immortal getting spaced - ala Jubal Early?

I'd like to see the crew of Serenity and the crew of The Betty throwing back a few.

And then maybe they pick up a bounty hunter named Toombs who needs to deliver his bounty, Riddick, to Butcher Bay.

Meanwhile, back on Earth that was, a new Slayer named Fray has appeared...

id love to see a Stargate Atlantis crossover simply to see a rading party of reavers take on a bunch of wraiths and see who would win (lets see how the wraith like geting fed on!), id also love to see a bunch or reavers try going thru the stargate to atlantis and splatter against their big see thru energy shield. Also love to see Kaylee put Mckay in his place about some kind of mechanical fault and Mal and Shepard duke it out.

I would like to see a Pirates of the Carribean crossover. Put Captain Jack Sparrow and crew on another firefly and call it Pearl of the Black. Heck, the actress that plays Captain Sparrow's first mate is named Zoe in real life. Add Grace Jones as Zula from Conan the Destroyer to play a Jayne role. Throw in Sean Connery to play an old and wise shepherd. Have them meet Serenity at Capitol City and steal a lot of gold together and then throw a big party in space. Shepherd Sean could stop them from making a golden calf.

So many worlds. So little time.

How's this for a slice of fried gold...
Serenity touches down on a moon and in a bar, Mal is approached by Yul Brenner and Steve McQueen, and they ask him and Zoe to help protect a village from bandits. The name of this episode? "The Magnificent Nine." To bad both actors are no longer with us.

Or what if there is a fortune in gold buried in a graveyard, and Eli Wallach knows the location, Clint Eastwood knows the name on the tombstone, and Mal has to win a three way shootout to get paid.

Ok, last one. It deals with Wash's backstory, how he joined flight school to see the stars, went off to war, and lost the edge when his copilot was killed due to jet wash. Ironically enough, that's how he got the nickname "Wash." Finally he overcomes his fears and sense of loss to beat Val Kilmer and win Top Gun. Iceman loses and his name goes on the alternate's plaque in the women's restroom.

Not strictly speaking a cross-over but I think it would be a hoot to see the crew from TNG on an alliance cruiser. By the time they figure out how to reverse the polarity on the sensor net and chanel the output through the secondary cortex link the BDHs would be two sectors over planning their next heist.

I'm surprised no one has suggested a Red Dwarf/Firefly crossover yet. They seem to have quite a lot in common: an emphasis on the dirty, gritty realities of space travel as opposed to the sterile perfection of Star Wars/Trek, and a totally irreverant humor.

I would love to see these two crews interact and see who buddied up with who. What would our BDH make of the smegheads? Would Simon see more of himself in Kryten or Rimmer? Would the Cat be able to outshine Inara in outfit selection? The world may never know.

Two words, you rule.

Seriously, though. Firefly and Cowboy Bebop have so many similarities, it isn't funny. Especially the constant theme of "broke-itis" that both ships seem to share. Another good crossover would be Firefly and Outlaw Star (but then some people call that a rip-off of Cowboy Bebop anyway).

I've got a fanfic that's a FireFly/Highlander crossover with a difference -- the quickening isn't witnessed, and the crew doesn't ever realize that immortal is immortal. I'm finishing its 4th rewrite now, and looking for a good place to publish it (it's my first fanfic).

It just came to me how the immortal Amanda "I was never a cheap whore" Montrose might react after meeting Mal "I'm not a petty thief" Reynolds, not to mention Inara.

Heres my idea for a crossover: Firefly and Animorphs.

The crew of Serenity are transported to a strange planet that is like northern canada except warmer and woth some deasert and some jungle. Somehow, Jake, Marco, Rachel, Cassie, Tobias and Ax end up near by and the two groups have to held each other in order to survive. They decide to trust each other and just when everything is going smoothly, Visser Three shows up! He wants to make River a controler so that the Yeerks will be able to find the "Andalite Bandits" (who, as anyone who's read the serries knows, are really Jake, Marco Cassie Rachiel Tobias and Ax). The Animorphs fill the crew in on the Yeerks and when Visser Three come by the ship to "collect" River, Simon takes a .357 Magnum and puts a bullet through the abominations head, hitting the Yeerk slug with a lead slug (sorry, bad punn).

You can fix anything if you have a big hammer and enough duct tape.

Aliens: like i already said

Star Wars: who doesn't want see Mal take on Luke Skywalker. it'd be the ultimate battle of whits, which Mal would win with his gun...

Terminator: Just coz it wood rock!

Another Reaver vs Allience star-cruiser battle like in the BDM, i mean if that wasnt one of the coolest scenes i dunno wot is.

Chuck Norris and Ace Ventura need to have cameos

The Alliance fed troops remind me of Star Ship Troopers, so chuck them in. We need more space battles, they made the Star Wars movies SO cool, so it can't hurt to put them in the best tv series ever concieved.
