I don't believe they do. However, I think you can get "one-shot" Visa cards that you load the money onto and then use online to buy something.

Also, VERY VERY shiny! Firefly is also at #9! Woo hoo!!! Go 'verse! :D

fcyberdragon - If they don't accept PayPal, you can also order with a Visa Debit/Check card if you have one, or send in a paper check. The downside to this is that they don't ship until they get your check. If they don't accept PayPal your best bet is probably just to go to the store and buy it, you can check Best Buy/Target etc. websites to see who has the lowest prices.

For a cancelled show, and a movie that did MEH in the theatres, this is awful damn good to be at the #1 spot for the movie and #7 spot (10:45pm Monday) for the series.

I always thought Serenity would make more cash as a DVD than in the Cinemas. There are legions of fans of Buffy and Angel out there, and even if they haven't seen Firefly its likely they will buy the DVD because its Joss created. Just like people bought all those videos of Buffy and Angel then followed it up by the DVDs. Thats a big market.

I was reading on the net that movie tickets sales are decreasing, probably as home cinema gets better and better. So hopefully we are looking at the tip of the iceberg in regards to Serenity sales.

Also if I am looking in the right place in regards to Amazon, their rankings are done on a daily basis, which means that prior to today Serenity was Amazons 4th best DVD seller each day nearly since its pre-order was available. That must be big numbers people, and its only one place you can buy Serenity on line.

I picked up copy number four today at Circut City. The other three were ordered from Amazon as Christmas gifts. In theroy, I was going to wait until after Christmas to see if I got a copy from anyone, but then it was just sitting there on the shelf and, well, ya know.

So now I have to hope the folks I bought these for:

1) Don't buy me a copy
2) Don't buy a copy for themselves

I have decided though. If I have an extra copy or something, I'm going to randomly give it away. Maybe make a new fan!

As of right now Serenity is #1 on Amazons Best Seller list, which is updated hourly, and is beating the likes of Firefly which is ranked #5, as well as March of the Penquins, Sin City (Directors Cut), 40th Aniversary Sound of Music, and Wedding Crashers(preoder). How are the rest of the movies that were released today fairing you ask? Well none of them are in the top 25, and that includes Exorcism of Emily Rose, Four Brothers, Brothers Grimm, ER Season 4, The Great Raid, and Must Love Dogs...all of which Blockbuster recieved more rental copies than they did for Serenity. Pity Blockbuster has such poor standings with Universal.

I'm ashamed to say that I never watched firefly when it was running on tv. A friend of mine told me i had to watch the episodes a couple months ago and i listened to him. By the time I finished the episodes it was just barely too late to go see serenity in the theatres. I ran out and bought it today as soon as i got out of work and watched it. Unbelievable movie. Nothing would make me happier than a sequal or more episodes being made.

Just an update,

Serenity is still at #1!

Firefly is at #5!

If it wasn't for the penguins and The Sound of Music (wtf? everyone who likes this film must have seen it a gazillion times already) I think we'd have a real chance of taking the top 2 spots in Amazon.com's DVD chart. That would be very very sweet @D

EDIT: Ok, someone already noted that FF was at #5. My post is a waste, woe is me.

i'm hoping to get the dvd. i've been buggin my mom about it ever since i got home for christmas break. we are going shopping today, so she put it on her things to buy list. i hope i get to get so i can watch it on the super-long 16 hour drive to florida from oklahoma. of course, i flew from cali to oklahoma, so that was good. anywho, back to the movie. i'm gonna watch my dvd set, then i'm gonna watch serenity for the remainder of the trip. i'm just glad it came out in time for christmas. that will really boost the dvd sales. anywho, gotta go. laterz.

It makes me CRAZY that DVD sales #s and $$s are kept so secret. There has to be someone on the inside that could "accidentally" let us know how many copies of both the series and the movie have been sold.

Why such a deep dark secret? Especially when box office $$ is so public.

This is a point that is being overlooked...Its not just that Serenity has been in the top 4 for the past week...The week that it didn't leave the top 4 that ended with it being #1, is Amazons being sales week of the year...We need to figure where we can find DVD sales figures...I would wager that an impressive # of Serenity copies have already been sold..

I'm thinking that the Fullscreen version isn't as high because most people would rather have Widescreen. No one I know gets Fullscreen version of anything.
