Irish friendly - check!
Smart - check! (does smart-a$$ count?)
Geeky - I prefer to think of myself as "coolness-deprived", but check!
Firefly-loving - double-check!
Girl - last time I checked!

Okay, something's VERY wrong here. Very, VERY wrong. Shall I throw in that I love football more than food and that I watch WWE SmackDown whenever I can? Surely that's a BIG no-no!

Ahhh...all's right in the world again.

Wow, that's unexpected. Tell me, do you also hate the delinearisation of contemporary capitalist economies, because that would really seal it for me?

Whereabouts in Ireland? I'm from North Dublin.

I am so lovin this thread. (Although, of course, I am merely an observer, being firmly attached to Mr. Grizwald for 20+ years now.)

I love the idea of conquering the world for Sereniflydom through procreation. I can personally claim credit for 2-1/2 fans myself (eldest daughter doesn't think it's cool, so is only a fan half the time, when she thinks no one is looking, but son and little one are both serious little Browncoats).

Go forth and multiply, Browncoats. Make lots more just like ya.

Whew! Okay, now I feel better. I'm Irish-friendly, not from Ireland. Love the Emerald Isle, but I'm not from there.

Ahhhh...all is again right with the world.

I am sooooo enjoying this post! I am really hoping that someone has a love connection, what an awesome story to tell people about how you met!

I am already involved with a Firefly fan, but if he doesn't give me a ring soon (3 1/2 years and counting!) I am going to be on the prowl for a new Mal/Wash type!

Anyway, keep the posts coming, and here's hoping love is in the air for all tonight!

Awww, poor Guy With Few Vowels! That's almost enough for me to revoke my Heartless Ice Queen status and move to Ireland.

...But not quite enough. I am heartless, after all. Sympathy for you, though. Much of that!

And FOX is just a bunch of potty words that aren't fit for this shiny board. Wouldn't want to tarnish the gleam, ya know.

OK, I'll play along, but am not holding my breath!

SWF with Mal's irrepressible sense of honor, River's brains (well..close), occasional Jayne moods (hey, guns just rock); geek, but also hockey player would prefer another geeky hockey player with Nathan Fillion;s looks, voice and personality (provided he really IS that intelligent, nice, polite, and good at Halo and is not just faking it).

I live in Alaska. Will relocate to anywhere not warm. (ie Canada, Iceland, Norway, Antarctica) Hate plastic shallow people who try to be what they are not. Honesty is good but if you tell me this gun holster makes my butt look fat I *will* shoot you. Hee hee.

Ha! Belowzero, too bad we're both het females, we'd get along! (I know some men's ears just perked up...) I'm also a SWF geeky hockey player, looking for a Nathan of my very own. As in tall, sexy, funny, talented, geeky, smart, and super nice. Is that sooo much to ask?

So I'm also a scientist, a dancer and generally weird. I live in rural New England where there are no single men and I'm turning 34 next week for Heaven's sake. Cupid, help me out here!!

Unfortunately I'm not Tom Cruise. Hell I aint even Michael Douglass. And R. Kelly? I'm not going there, 'K?

The problem with spending time with somebody significantly older than you is that they've already been through a lot of the things your going to go through. Had alot of lifes adventures already and may tend to try to give too much advice on how to handle them. A person likes to live their own life sometimes. It can be a bit like going to a movie with somebody who has already seen it and they keep saying the lines half a second early only they get the lines wrong. Now you have to put up with that kind of stuff from your parents but you really shouldn't have to deal with it from your SO.

Plus do you have any idea what kinda music the kids listen to these days? :shudder: Whatever happened to good wholesome nice music like Blue Oyster Cult, Black Sabbath, and Judas Priest. Now that was music.

I feel like jumping into the fray, it being the day after Valentines.

This was a fun post to read.

SW FF female, 43, brown hair, hazel eyes, no nervous twitches, enjoys musing, elaborate discussions, walking around in foreign parts, hiking in deserts, road trips, eating unfamiliar foods, listening to unfamiliar music, dancing, roller skating at the Veloway on a hot summer day and jumping over the snakes (it being Texas, don'tcha know). Seeking someone who can make me laugh.

Here's to having survived yet another VD episode! Heh heh.

Was that directed at me? If it was... Why thank you, I think. There possibly is some superficial resemblence, I suppose out of all the females on the show I think most like her (though less of the trying to kill people, and no matter how hard I try I can't track down a supplier for that lipstick...) so thats probably where the writing comes from, if thats what you meant.

If it wasn't ignore the above, go about your merry way

That it is. But what I find most humorfull is the reaction at the time. You'd'a thunk it was the end of western civilization the way some people went on about it but listen to it after a bit of death metal and it really is quite sweet and romantic.

Aw, everyone always thinks powerful rock is the end of civilization. They think it's the end of everything because that kind of music makes them FEEL. It makes them MOVE and FEEL and BE.

God forbid we should do any such thing.

*snerks* 'S probably why I like it so much.

And yes, it is quite sweet (though I'll carefully step around the landmine of romance before I say something snarky about it).

Heya waitaminute now. I protest at being labelled "mercenary". I prefer the term "differently moralled". Just because I cheat like a Frenchman doesn't make me a bad person. Well it does almost by definition, but I'm not a bad guy. Well if you're shallow and define it as "large, occassionally violent and needlessly intimidating". But it doesn't if you mean stupid like Jayne. I am NOT stupid. And anyway mercenaries fight for money, and no one can afford my rates.

And hey, I can appear romantic. Just so long as it helps me get the woman into bed.

True enough, but rest assured that I have an extremely broad sense of humor. I think just about everything is funny, and I rarely take anything seriously...even when I should.

Especially when I should. Heh.

However, it's also summat a good idea to CYA on a forum this size. 'S why I leave my signature line as-is, though I've thought of several I'd like to try.

I figure no one can mistake anything I say as serious with a signature line right out of a bad comedy set.

And BitterBierce? If we could just get rid of that whole "cheating on the girlfriend" thing, we could SO be in business. Heheh....

True enough, but rest assured that I have an extremely broad sense of humor. I think just about everything is funny, and I rarely take anything seriously...even when I should.

Especially when I should. Heh.

I think the thing about BB is you take him like he is. He's honest enough to say upfront that he's as duplicitous as duplicitous can be. 'Course considering that he really has no call to get in a whinge if people take exception.

Aztec, you have to tell all where you live as well, or how are interested parties meant to know where to start to stalk?

I appear to have a mild stalking obsession. Maybe I should turn pro?

That it is. But what I find most humorfull is the reaction at the time. You'd'a thunk it was the end of western civilization the way some people went on about it but listen to it after a bit of death metal and it really is quite sweet and romantic.

anything sounds sweet and romantic after Death Metal (scary thing being that DM is made to sound sweet and romantic after a bout of grind core (or whatever they call it), find me something that makes thatsweet and fluffy and, well, then find me a padded cell...)

anyhoo, I like that song! But what I like even more is the use of 'You'd'a thunk '

Bravo!

Anyway, after all that, the only thing I actually had to add to the conversation is maybe we could request a special joke HTML type thing.
Would that work?

[joke] I habitually wear my pants on my head [/joke]
Waddya fink?

EDIT: ok, so not as clever as I think I am, putting the work 'joke' in those little [ ] brackets makes it Disappear. But doesn't change the text.

Well, good news is as of last night that's no a problem...and as a total coincidence, I appear to be moving tomorrow. The bad news, alas, I live in Houston and refuse to commute anywhere just to get laid.

I did notice one very, very, VERY female trait to your original message, though- you didn't mention your age, which means you're over 25. I had a little bit of fun trying to guess based on what you've written- my conclusion was that you were in my age neighborhood (35) or a little older, but not by more than five years. I'm picky about age- I adore older women. Also like the French, I appreciate the finer things in life. Well, and women around my age, they're really clever and cool and eminantly "congress-able". Uhm, well, and 19 year old cheerleader types. Ok so I'm a bit of a whore. I just love women.

Oh, and "StarGirl"? You ruttin' BET. Amen sister, with bells on. I'll email you when I get home from work around six. My ph# is going to change tomorrow, I'll send the new ones.

Ah, the sweet spot, which is from 26 to 32. Young enough for Original Sin lust, but clever and articulate enough so that the universal male urge to duct tape the younger girl's mouth and keep her tied up in the closet until she's needed isn't overwhelming.

If nothing else, this is an interesting view on the diversity of the group.
Most of the browncoats i know are males (with a handful of the ladies) and all in their early twenties... then my father, and all in texas.
I thought my group of browncoats was cool because we have a lot of ethnicities and even have one ParaOlympian (archery).
but this is amazing.

one thing though. I am totally unfamilar with the acronyms. BBW, SMSM? what?

I'm like that as well. True story many yeasr bakc I was working in a stock room with a couple of guys who had just moved up from Mississippi. Now for those who don't know the M'sip accent is very deep and somewhat dificult for those not of the region to understand. Now we had all hired in at about the same time so being low on the totem pole we wound up doing a lot of the same work asignments nobedy else wanted. So over the months they were gradually losing their accent and I was I kid you not gaining it.

I think I meant that she gambles the kittens (was gunna say stakes the kittens, but um, eew...) I a highly random reference to Spike's game of choice in Buffy, but ne'ermind.

I do that, I absorb accents, one or other cabbie has called me Australian, American (I blame Joss) Canadian and South African(!?!?!?!) I just come out with it, randomly - leaned over a bannister and yelled something in almost unintelligble yorshire once, repeated it almost exactly, but as soon as they told me what I was doing, could not reproduce it. Factor in the early 19th cent. phraseology that works its way in. And the slang absorbed from a hundred different people and not to mention T.V. shows and, well, i'm a delight to listen to i'm sure.

I need to stop talking, I feel like i've gone into a speed dating curcuit and started singing the macarena down a megaphone or something.

Seeking an intelligent conversation with:

Mal-type – integrity, brains, adventure, idealist, humor, open-minded, educated, low-maintenance, hard-working, likes to read, low tolerance for BS, hygiene a must but looks/race not important.

Let’s see where this road goes.

Seryn,

T'was a reference to Steve Martin in "The Jerk"
But thanks for playing!!!

Steve Martin can be funny, but "Cheaper by the Dozen" 2! just hurts my soul.

Still a 24 yr Jayne-type. Like older ladies.

Non-reaver DNA = a plus.

Ah, well, I've not seen The Jerk, so I forgive myself for not knowing, and I'm off to add it to my 'movies to send me' list.

But you shoulda' kept the game going for a little longer, seen if any one else knew of it.

Where you from, hopefully North Carolina? Because I'm 20 years old smart and funny sometimes and I don't mind drunks that love a lot.

You're probably right Seryn.
But something like cat-juggling is too volatile to keep a lid on.

Don't worry, I have plenty more games where those came from!

I guarantee that "The Jerk" and especially "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels" are worth the watch. After that, ditch Steve Martin like a bad tunafish sandwich! (Can anyone tell, I've got nothing better to do today! :))

Man, I love this community.
It's good to know that our stars (Joss, Nathan, Adam, Jewel, and all the rest), actually like us.

Now if only Jewel weren't married. OH WAIT! I didn't say that out loud, did I?

SWM, 28 years old from Central Florida. Wash personality with a little Mal mixed in. We're all special in our own way, but I tend to be special in the head... lol. I'm looking for a River/Kaylee mix. A beautiful mind and fun personality. A hot woman wouldn't hurt either, but I like to be able to carry on a conversation when I have something to say. Must be a Firefly fan and a total geek. Glasses are sexy and big eyes are a must.

Until a year and a half ago I was from central Florida.

But I don't wear glasses and I'm not a total geek. I'm mostly nerdy. But I have big eyes!

Gorram the work thing that takes time out of my fan-boarding! What...does my boss think I have nothing else to do besides show up on time and actually WORK??

As for kittens, I'll see your tabby and raise you a Siamese and two hairless Rex. And if you're VERY lucky, I'll juggle them for you when you realize I'm bluffing and call me on it.

Mostly because I have Simon's facility with the opposite sex. It's only a matter of time before I say something unutterably nasty and you all storm off in a perfectly valid huff. I'm kinda shocked it hasn't happened yet.

D, honey, I think you've been hanging around women who are entirely too sensitive. I mean, here I'm offering you a free thrust and I don't even KNOW you. You seem fine to me, verbal-banter-wise.

*laughs* And no, that's not a thrust out the airlock. Unless that's your thing...I suppose it's negotiable...but I really don't want to see how fast the blood will boil out my ears, delightful description or no.

Call me crazy, but I'd like to find out I'm dead long after I'm supposed to have felt it.

Neat thread. What the heck... I'll play...

SF, 22, SW Ontario (Canada), politics student, likes Firefly (big shock, I know), most sci-fi, reading, movies, stuff... (writing this is harder than I thought it would be ). Kind of a shy Kaylee-type, or a not crazy River,
who is looking for a Simon-y, Wash-ish, Mal-like kind of guy.

Well it's nice of you to say. And hey it's been a long time since I've put myself out so maybe I've gotten better by not practicing. :)

You can fool some of the people all of the time and all of the people some of the time and that's enough to build a marketing plan arround.

SWF, 26 Northern WI (but travels to Milwaukee area often and with a curiosity of Minneapolis)), Zoe's strength, Inara's wiles, River's untampered brains and Kaylee's skillz, seeks Mal with Wash's humor and a little bit of Jayne's insanity, with Simon's brain and a bit of Book's mystery. Likes Sci-Fi, science actual, TV, is very liberal and funny.

BTW: This is how the Hidey Place started... ahh good times
