"Tim Minear - Feb 10, 2006 6:54:51 pm PST
Okay, so now I can mention, my pilot got picked up today. Go team. "
" Okay, the show is called "Drive." The network is, um, Fox. And it’s a big, sprawling, ensemble that is utterly serialized. In the pilot, for instance, there are... let me count... about 16 possibly regular characters. "
" Which means I got me some killin’ to do. "
Yay! Tim! go Tim! Timmmmmmmmmie!

The loneliness calls him, And the edge which must be sharpened,
He's losing it. And he knows.

TIM: I like to think of it as "Magnolia" on wheels with a dash of "North by Northwest" every week.
None of this means you'll see a series, but that's the goal. The network greenlit us to shoot the pilot. So that's what we're gonna do.

Cool. Looking forward to the inevitable post-cancellation DVD set.

Is this the show that Tim was working on with Chris Buchanan and Zoic?

This sounds cool. I'll check it out if it makes it to air.
The thread title is a bit misleading, though. "Picked-up" means the network has committed to episodes beyond the pilot. At this point, according to that post of Tim's, they just have a pilot order. And many, many pilots never see the light of day.

Yup, fortunately Minear knows the enemy and will design the story arcs with cancellation in mind.
Does anyone know why he keeps working with Fox??

Sorry about the "picked up", the other info came later. so I added it. Again sorry for the confusion. Not sure why Tim is still working with them. My understanding was that any contract he had with them was completed with The Inside. Maybe he shopped it around and only FOX took an interest? If there is aproblem to be defined with Tim and/Joss's work, I think it's too smart for the folk coming up with the ads. It's easy to sum up simplistic junk in 15-30 seconds, but their stuff runs deep, and attempts to sum it up, need more than a 15-30 second ad. but I'm rambbling here. I hope it makes it to air. I hope it lasts. I hope it gets The Inside DVDs made.

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over in the same way and expecting different results. Tim belongs on another network or in the loony bin.

I just love how he says the network is um fox. Like he can't outright talk badly about the guys signing his paycheck but we all know what he's thinking. Hilarious.
Now I don't get why he's still working with them unless no one else will have him. Though I do wonder why is fox still working with him? I mean if all you've ever done is cancel a dude's shows due to lack of ratings, why do you keep giving him a chance?
