Well, I guess it's one of those topics that we're always interested in. And the way I see it, Nathan's niceness and the genuine care he takes with fans just adds to the appeal of the whole Firefly/Serenity phenomenon.

I had some news that is all sorts of interestin' for you Appreciatin Nathan girls. Since serenitymovie.org's down, I'll post my news here!

I spoke to Aria at Moonlight Rising. She said that we CAN give Nathan a card during the autograph session!!!

I promised nothing huge, just 8 1/2 x 11. So Vanessa and I will be doing that.

YAY! So if we want to either mail that birthday card or just hold onto it till June, we can. Or we can do something else from us AppreciatinNanthanites. OR we can do both and Vanessa'll give him one and I'll give him the other. We'll hold each other's cameras and take pics.

We were doing one from Serenitymovie.org's Appreciatin Nathan thread.

I've already promised to do that one and I've promised to only give Nathan one thing. This has been discussed since last week sometime?

I really hate to say no, but I did make commitments and I don't want to overstep my bounds. People are being exceedingly nice and I refuse to take advantage of that. Aria's a sweetheart and I refuse to go too far and push my luck.

Oh, I've found you guys! I have been having the sweats and shakes from withdrawl. But that photo of Nathan and a baby was a great fix.

I'm in on any card idea, so put me on the list.

I'm also thinking about using my credit card (or tax refund)to go to the Flanvention; anyone else going, and thinking about roommates yet? I am about 75% certain I will do it, but I need some roomies to defray the cost... After getting a taste of Nathan this weekend, I find I need more. Nathan is my crack!

Anyways, we figured out MalNourished is going to work on doing the art for our card to Nathan from the Appreciators. It'll make the rounds and land with me at the end. She and I will make sure to take it up to Moonlight Rising and hand it over. Everyone make sure you get FollowMal your snail mail.

IF you are going to be a part of this, there will be a few rules.

1) If you decide to sign, it will be YOUR responsibility for postage to pass it on to the next person. If your name is on this list, we are ALL depending on you to keep it going.

2) You may not keep the card for more than two days. It's got a long way to go and a short time to get there.

3) Keep it tasteful and respectful.

4) Keep the card safe.

If you think you are a forgetful person, please do not sign up for this. There are a lot of Appreciators who are going into this and we ALL want to make sure it gets where it's supposed to go: into Nathan's hands. There will most like not be time to make a second one if something happens.

I think Kaele has good points for the card. And I will reiterate--please don't sign up for this if you're not going to keep it rolling. This won't work unless we are all responsible enough to do our part. Hey girls (are there any guys? i don't want to offend...). Finally done with dinner, and can relax a bit. *pulls up a chair*

So, Moonlight Rising is June 2-4, and to be safe I'd say that Kaele needs the card at least a week before that. (Agree, Kaele & FollowMal?) The sooner the better, really.

I suppose that we need to decide on some of the design elements so I can get started on it. I'll do the work, but I'd love to hear any input that you all might have. Should we pick another mphillips masterpiece, or several depending on how many appreciators want to participate? What do we want it to say? In my opinion, the signatures should be the centerpiece of this card, but I could still incorporate an mphillips drawing into the design.

I think that each of us should be sure to write where we live with our signatures, so that Nathan can see how far the card has traveled. Also, if we're including blurbs with our names, then we will have to impose a strict word limit.

Ugh.

Kaele fell asleep around 8:00 after putting the kiddies in bed. It's been a hectic week. They tried to start mom's chemo on Monday. Spending over 2 hours in the doctor's office with a one year old was a trial in patience. Especially since an hour and a half of that was in the itty waiting room. The baby was fine, Mommy was going nuts. Fifteen old people with cancer and my daughter...good times, good times. *sigh* Uncle had open heart surgery today (triple bypass!). So yeah, Kaele's a little on the stressed side.

Woke up around 1:00am and now I can't get back to sleep. Too tired to write but too keyed up to sleep.

I think I'll do some writing tomorrow and just stare into space tonight until I drop off again...*yawn*

Oh. There's discussion about possible T-shirts. The design we've been tossing around is a pic on the front (to be decided) with Appreciatin' Nathan above it in black. Scrawled across the pic will be "We love our Captain." On the back will possibly list the websites: this and our other board. To do: getting permission from everyone 'official' so's we don't step on any toes. I can't see a problem for it as it'll be free advertising for them. *Shrug* But it's always nice to ask. MalNourished and FollowMal and I were also discussing getting fabric pens and writing our screennames on the sleeve.

Nothing's done yet, but just thought I'd toss it out there.

If we get really pressed for time we can all write a blurb and sign it and send it to a central location (ie whoever has the artwork) and they can paste the blurbs onto whatever....

We can still put where we are.
I am thinking of mailing times to Alaska, the UK, etc and going, hmmmm. Maybe for his birthday NEXT year.

I may have to take my kid if I ever make it to Flanvention. Wonder what Nathan will do when this skinny, geeky looking 8 year old walks up to him and says, "Hi, Captain Mal. My mom can kill you with her brain. Where's Jayne?" ;)
