Battlestar '80... ya it sucked. Travelling back through time to fight Nazi's is gay as hell. Travel across multiple galaxies trying to reunite with your long-lost human cousins, then suddenly need to (1) time-travel to fight nazis, and (2) NEVER reunite with Earth-lings.

The show got whored till the last minute.

and then:

the whole slieu of people who think the "political" message of the show makes it great... ya "Rolling Stone magazine" agrees with you. And they aren't even remotely political. Or music-related for that matter, but hey... I'm just ignorant.

Where is Mick Jagger when you need him?

Last ep I saw was the one about black markets where "Apollo" suddenly stopped being all suicidal and put a bullet in some bad-guy's head. I missed the next ep (after faithfully watching since the beginning), and somehow didn't care.

I missed the next ep, and still didn't care.

Then it occured to me... the show was (1) boring, (2) predictable, (3) NOT original contrary to what some people say ~ these storylines have been done a dozen+ times on Trek (TOS, TNG, DS9, Voyager, Enterprise, the movies, and the books), Babylon 5 (the political stuff especially), Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, etc. etc.

Nothing new. Just a repeat of the same. YET, somehow this show is supposed to be better because the lynch mob says so. But... as "WhiskeyJane" says, there is always "someone" who is too opiniated (not to mention I'm a product of "angst" and "poor potty training"). The "opinionated" fool is always the one at the end of the lynch mob's rope.

Note to self: survival = agreement with majority opinion.

I choose survival. "I love the new BSG! Let all the world know it! I also love spinach, liver, and every film and book ever written or made for the last dozen years."

when Berman and Braga were given the kill order for Trek, they revived the whole "travel back through time and kill Nazis" theme. Only this time, the nazis had butt-ugly aliens in their ranks.

It never gets old. It only gets dumber with each new hatchet job on a "kill-order" series.

oops:

EDIT: I'm talkin about "Enterprise". The poisonous end to the Trek.

Serious? You want me serious?
*Thinks hard*
I don't think I can do that...

Here's my attempt:
I have a Viper and Galactica model kits from the original series. I made a Colonial Warrior uniform for a convention (comlete with gun and holster), also from the original. I owned a super-8 version of the pilot before video-tapes were available.

All I want from the new series is a die-cast Viper (When available).

In short; I loved the original, I just REALLY like the new one.

FRAK! That was too gorram serious! Just keep talkin' felgercarb, Xero, a Cylon will wax you any time now (They look like us now, remember?).

Well then...

I'm sorry. There.. you got an apology from me for the way I've treated you. I assumed you were mocking me about the original Vipers from the get-go.

And no, I never built a Viper model but I was a model builder as a kid (and saw them ~ both in the box, and built, finished up, airbrushed, etc.).

I was mostly a boat, ship, and airplane kinda-model builder when I was younger. And now I build boats in my spare-time as an adult. 3 to date, #4 is on the drawing board. Go figure.

You've passed the smell test (I believe you truly were an original BSG fan). Although I don't share your love of the new one. Cept for the new Starbuck. Katie Sackhoff is hotter than a 1000 suns. Hubba hubba. Grace Whats-her-name is easy on the eyes too.

I just hate the storylines. Bored me to tears.

The new BSG is the basically the the most creative sci fi on television, ever. On television. I know how it's a re-make, but they really only kept the basics, like humans vs. cylons, humans try to find earth, and the peoples names.

I'm not sure where I'm going with this comment, but BSG is fantastic.

And to say othersie would make you obviously wrong, because your opinion is wrong, and everything about you is wrong.

Can you feel the sarcasm in that last paragraph?

Hey, mocking is my middle name.

But yeah, the first time I saw the Vipers, all thoughts of the X-Wing left my head. X-Wings take off like lame Harriers. Vipers take off like they mean buisness.
(Oh, I must make mention of Serena, another seriously excellent aspect to the original series, and how I almost stopped watching when they killed her off )

Most creative Sci-fi on TV. Ever. Ok.

Larson's concept of human beings living on alien planets is original. That much is true. They are connected to "Earth". That much is still true. Ok... add some "Earth" politics, "Earth-like" drama, dysfunctional earth-people dressed in earth-suits and ties... ya. All of a sudden, it's Earth - circa century 21. Ok. I believe it.

That's NOT everyday modern "soap opera". That's how the "other" humans who evolved differently from us for the last 10K years dress, think, act, etc.

THEY are just like US! Who'd have thunk it?

Moore-whore.

Who'd believe it?

You clowns.

I'm sure our distant cousins who've cracked all the laws of physics ages ago (so-much-so that they can travel FASTER than the speed of light, warp time and space, etc.) are just dying to strap on gucci and armani suits and debate abortion, cylon-civil rights, democracy versus whatever, etc. etc.

Ya. You're being stalked across the infinity of space by genocidal robots (robots have feelings too), and it's time to soul-search on the same type of politics we see on the nightly news.

Gee-fuckin-whiz. This is the best sci-fi I've ever seen.

Take a chill-pill TMurrie:

The "you clowns" didn't necessarily include you. But it prolly will soon enough.

**hands you a cup of kool-aid and a jelly-bean**

"Eat, drink, and be merry."

BSG, after all, is just too damned uber in your mind. And anyhow... it doesn't much matter what is said here. People pick and choose what they want to read, and they find a polar opposite of their point of view when they don't like what they are reading. They do everything they can to discredit and annihilate the person dissenting from them rather than have an open debate.. why bother when your opinion is a "majority" opinion?

The MO: Attack, rejoice that you are a majority opion with superior forces, then retire. You won before you ever started.

I think "Britian" lost the colonies by thinking like that, but I might be mistaken. Who knows?

Of course, "majority opinion" is a relative term. Whole large masses of people think one way, but are told everyday the mass opinion is just the opposite. I guess "majority opinion" is a matter of opinion in that respect. But respect doesn't figure into it anymore (not where truth is concerned), or what a majority thinks for that matter. It's about who controls the "free press". Or the "media" as those of us who free-think like to free-think of it.

Although I call these people "clowns", that is very tame compared to what I think of them as a whole. I'm about to watch all the BSG ep's I missed since I lost interest in the show. What good am I in this debate if I'm ill-informed. I don't particularly care to watch any more of it but I'm not prepared to offer up a decent argument against the fanatical regime of fanboiz-N-galz. I'll come back and shred these whores to pieces when I do. I'm just not gonna be ignorant of the lame plotline. Nor do I imagine there is any point to the debate. They drank the kool-aid before it was ever mixed. Can't poison the willing. When it's voluntary, it's suicide.

We're in the middle of a seasonal break for the show anyhow.

All the actors live in "studio-funded" paradiso palaces, get daily massages, hookers-galore, best food money can buy, waxxing, facials, the world's best gay hair-stylists, ~ the latter 3 = men and women alike...

..an army of lawyers to steal their souls, agents to serve their lawyers, and studio execs to pay their lawyers and then bitch at them about what an ass their lawyer is for being so independant and over-protective of a studio property.

Ah the misery of such a life. Of course... they'll be well suited to play the role of tormented people suffering at the hands of their persecutors given such a hiatus.

House slaves. Every last one of them. This show is nothing but whores and bad actors.

BUT... "Rolling Stone" magazine loves this show. It could be the biggest nuclear-powered pile of shit ever put on the screen come "next" season. But it will live.

Why?

"Rolling Stone" magazine loves it.

Ummm...yeah. It's okay to not like a show. Not everyone will like the new BSG just as not everyone likes Firefly and not everyone likes any other show on television. But to waste so much energy on absolutely hating the show is incredibly ridiculous. Stating an opinion is fine, but going on and on and on and on about it as if your opinion is right is beyond frakked up. I can understand if some fans of the classic series simply don't like the new series, but to be upset about it to the point where you'd watch the new series for the sole reason of picking it apart and hammering on it is just wrong. If you don't enjoy it, don't watch it. Why is that such a problem? Constantly hatin' on the show isn't going to make it go away. It's a successful show and Sci-Fi will keep it going as long as it is. If you don't like it, just ignore it. Watch something you do like. How hard is that?

I can see why you would want to debate what you believe against those who don't agree, and that's fine as well. Ahh. The intellectual approach.

Of course you're trying to be a dick. Stop lying fool. I can smell a set-up on you from a mile away. Ask me a question with no simple or short answer. What shows do I agree to?

Let's see. Umm... the ones that are (1) based on science, and (2) fictional.

Quote me some more "Voltaire". Or did a woman say that first? Odd... I recall seeing a man say that first. But, then I read too much. That's a puzzle I'll leave unsolved for those who opt to not read.

Just believe what the boob-tube (and the "search engines") tell you. Sheep need to obey.

To "somewhat" answer your question...

I've watched and seen it all.

Your question is prolly the only one I've seen asked that is worthwhile through this whole thread. But it would take toooooo many keypunches to answer it justly. I'll give you a partial (and beginning answer). I'll touch the tip of the iceberg. And then, I'll listen to the BSG fan-whorez call me all kinds of names. They always win.

Shows I love... I'll start with olde school (and this is only partial, I can't list ~ and explain ~ them all)

The original "Star Trek" (TOS) ~

...including the 3rd season where the Studio whored Roddenberry and took it out of his hands. They needed to bring the up-and-coming directors out of the shadows. His show was the perfect place to do it. It was sci-fi. Sci-fi was a joke. "Mars Needs Women"!!! Nobody takes this shit serious. But let's humor the insignifigant sub-culture of TV viewers who love science and think that all great future-fiction revolves around it.

The whores hated sci-fi. They had a bunch of xero-talent writers and xero-talent directors they had to give a shot to... (Studio Exec. relatives, pay-me-back deals, etc.)

They killed a show (TOS) that should have lived. But they spawned a fanatical fanbase that would push sci-fi forward to where it is now (even though it's still as whored-out as it was in Roddenberry's day).

I also "loved" the original Doctor Who. Which is about to get whored like the old BSG.

Lemme guess... the new Doc will have a Brit accent (an absolute must), but it'll be all modernday politics compared to ancient history.

There is also "Blake's 7" too but that is too "olde school" and not mainstream.

Anyhow... there's a basic beginning to an answer.

Why don't you ask me something simple like "What's the meaning of life?" or "Why do we exist?" or "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie-roll Tootsie-pop?"

Ok dude I'll grant you that. I am, indeed, an asshole. And if in fact you were genuinely asking the question for the sake of discussion, then you have my apologies. I was figuring you'd give me a laundry list about how lame all the scifi shows I DO love are. It's exhausting having to deal with the bait-&-switch sneak attacks. And yes, each of the scifi shows I list(ed) has something retarded about them, but taken as a whole, the good tends to heavily outweigh the bad.

Don't mind River90210. She's president of my fan club (which as you might guess, is comprised of most of the people in this forum).

To finish up answering your question, the remaining shows I like are:

(1) "Most" of the Trek Cannon. I loved "Next Gen" ~was brilliant from beginning to end. I thought Voyager was decent.. started out great (great premise), then began to drag. I was about to quit watching it (as I did with new-BSG), but then they added the large-breasted Jeri Ryan into the mix (wearing a catsuit). Lust saved the day (and the show for that matter). Deep Space-9 for the first few years was just bareable. Sisko was weak and effeminant and the plot was overly-political and dull. Scriptwriters have probably never known a bonafide black military officer. It's a shame. I've served under many of them and they are strong fine men. But (3rd season I think it was), they had a change of attitude. Sisko shaved his fro, grew a goatee, and roared back to life ready to fight the dominion. No more mister milquetoast. And they added Worf (fuckin "A" ~ Klingons rule!). Enterprise was hideous. Final season was great, but everything else stunk like hell.

(2) Farscape ~ it was a trip down the weird and wild-side. If it was anything at all, it was unique. Strange at times, but overall was a great show. Note: here again, the show got axxed by scifi channel even though it was their highest rated show at the time. They promised the Jim Henson company a full season, and on short notice broke their promise. It ended terribly (leaving fans like me pissed). Thanks bonnie hammer. But, they wrapped up the plotline with PK wars which has to rank right up there with Star Wars in my book. What a friggin great show that was.

(3) Lexx. Which was just too weird to explain. Because of how bizarre (and utterly unique it was). The same reasons why it's weird are the same reasons I couldn't stop watching.

(4) Babylon 5 ~ which I only moderately enjoyed. Some people get all freaky over it but, I dunno, it was a decent show but didn't send thrilling shivers down my spine.

Ok, that covers everything in the past. Now the present.

(5) Stargate SG-1 ~ I absolutely love the first 8 years of this. It's one of the single best scifi shows ever put on the air. I'm not too sure I like where they're going in this last season (the "Ori" enemies replacing the defeated Goa'Uld are ok, but this whole King Arthur thing is just tacky as hell). Plus, after the way scifi chan whored the Farscape stars (Ben Browder and Claudia Black), it's nice to see the dynamic duo back in the saddle again.

(6) Stargate Atlantis ~ ok I've saved this one for last. I didn't much care for it in the 1st season, but I've slowly warmed up to it and this whole last season has converted me. This has rapidly become probably the very best scifi show I've ever seen on TV (with one exception).

Finally ~ the exception. Firefly. Although it was only 14 episodes, no scifi show ever made me fall so in love with it. Whedon definately found his calling. I hate that it's gone. But then, hey, such is the fate of scifi when it's in the hands of idiot executives and political hacks. Thankyou network and studio whores.

Long thread so I do not know if this comparison has been made yet.

All space shots are silent with music for both TV shoes. BSG always has those badass drums beating.

BSG is a great show, Firefly is just a better show, or was that The Best Show. Never thought about Firefly being the best show I have ever seen...that is kind of depressing in retrospect.

And yes, each of the scifi shows I list(ed) has something retarded about them, but taken as a whole, the good tends to heavily outweigh the bad.

Hey man, thanks for the appology, no harm done. I know how it can be over the internet.

I agree with most of the shows you listed. As a matter of fact, Next Generation is on the tv in the next room as I type this.

But ya, I like what you have to say about the other shows, except Lexx. That show must be too out there for me to grasp at, oh well.

It was funny, when I told my brother that Ben Browder was going to be on Stargate, he merely said "Ah yes, Stargate SG-1...the show where all sci-fi actors go to die". It's almost like Farscape is trying to overrun Stargate, but whatever, I love it. Valla Maldoran is a great character, it makes Claudia Black that much hotter.

Anyway, good travels!

I know he disrespects BSG because he knows that it will upset us, and we will come-a-runnin trying to defend why we like it. I know he does this for the sole purpose of getting a rise out of us. But I suspect (and I KNOW I'm right) that he watches AND enjoys the new BSG, he's just being what he is....a pig, and besides, you DO feed the trolls sometimes because if you feed them, they are in one spot and you can harpoon them. Okay has anyone figured out which two t-shirts i.e., manufacturer, color and style, are the ones the flight crews wear in Galactica?

I have some of my old Air Force stuff (including a bunny suit I can dye orange ... don't rat me out to Uncle Sam) but of course, none of it is the shiny whatever the heck it is stuff the flight suits are made of.

There's a big convention coming up this summer and when I'm not in the room hosting our Firefly party, I'd like to wander 'bout the hotel in 'Galatica Gear'. www.convergence-con.org

I can't even imagine walking around in the quilted stuff the actors wore in that 70's show. Yer like to melt into a puddle of sweat - not to mention being stalked by Amish ladies looking for fabric swatches.

For the Honor Harrington fans, David Weber is a guest of honor at Convergence this year.

Firefly has been cancelled. Battlestar Galactica won't be back on the air until October. What am I going to do? My Saturday morning ritual of getting up, downloading BSG while I make breakfast has been seriously interruped here. Are there any other shows out there besides SG-1 (I refuse to watch it!) that are worth my time to get addicted too?

Why do we have to wait until October? Why not July? What network decided this?

I need a new show quick or somebodies gonna get their kicked.

They're not currently in production so getting addicted might not be the best idea. Having said that, go look for the DVD collections (or hunt down VHS tapes) of ...

Monarch of the Glen (DVD - 4 seasons) - Scottish television show about Archie MacDonald, family and friends when he has to come back to the old family estate (GlenBogle) and take over as Laird.

China Beach - Vietnam experiences of MacMurphy (Dana Delaney's first starring role) and other nurses and doctors. It's also where Marge Helgenberger got her start.

Babylon 5 (DVD 5 season + movies) - One of my fellow Minnesota Independents (shout out to Mario) has loaned me the first season of Babylon 5. I'm through 5 of disks so far. It's not bad - He said to hang in there because of a 4 year story arc. I'm going to give it my best.

Coupling (BBC DVD 5 seasons). Not the pitiful American rip-off but the original British series. Be careful, when Steve begins one of his rants, you might laugh milk out your nose.

The only show "worthy" of your time is SG-1.

Least the 1st 8 years of it. Go watch that. Then watch SG-Atlantis. DON'T watch SG-A till you see the 1st 8 of SG-1. Can't love SG-A w/out SG-1. And SG-1 is loveable in spite of whatever stupid notions you have rattling around in that tiny brain of yours. Teal'c gets fuckin nuclear power-cool in season 8. Season 8 ep 7. Just watch you'll see.

Won't replace FF. Won't kill off the need for that next heroine fix, but it helps.

1 gay show a day. One day at a time. Achtung! 12 steppers can now goose-step with frau nipples and der skoobie doo krew (mach schnell!).

More importantly... DO NOT watch the specific Ep I listed without seeing the whole thing. It won't be the same.

Trust me on this one. You'll see.

..and if you do, you'll watch SG-(A)tlantis and you won't be blown away as I currently am. It's up to you.

Even though I hear that SG-1 is a good show, SG-1 is on my "forbidden" list of television series not to watch for personal reasons; It would be a serious "trigger" If I were to watch 1 episode of SG-1, I would want to strangle someone right after, so I better not.

Thanks for the suggestion though.

I have babylon DVD sets from season 1 to 3, but I'm pretty much done with it. Its good and I liked B5 a lot, but I need something more comforting. I'm heading into a depressive-cycle, so I guess I better fallback on old reliable..Firefly or my entire Audrey Hepburn DVD collection, but thanks for the information on all those other movies!

I was depressed yesterday, so I went out and blew $700 cashy money, and bought an Archos, DVR movie player. Its one of those devices that puts the ipod to shame. Here is the link so you will know what I speak of: http://www.archos.com. I bought the AV-700. It small enough to carry around with you, and it has 100 gigabytes of storage, so I can record all my movies into it. Lastnight i recorded Serenity into it and today I made myself a picnic and went to the park and ate, watched people with lives, and watched Serenity...it was a good day.

The TRUE hero of the spacelanes is the underestimated Raptor. Being the extendable eyes, ears and brains of the battlegroup, the Raptor tells the lowly assVipers where to go and what to do. From being able to make its own FTL leaps, perform recon, jam enemy systems AND deliver both strike teams and munitions on target, it is a multipurpose vehicle vastly superior to the Wiper in every way that counts. The highly trained team of pilot and ECO have saved the Fleet repeatedly, from finding water to finding Kobal, and have done so in a spacecraft that isn't even usually armed. The Wiper could be easily replaced by an unmanned drone piloted by a 14 year old who grew up playing video games (as is being done today in the real world). When the going gets tough you send in the best, and then bring on the Wipers to handle the rest.

My friend has learned to do origami versions of the Firefly and the Viper. I have a fleet of both decorating my desk. I'll have him start working on a Raptor next.

I love how the Vipers in the new BSG actually obey the laws of physics & can spin and rotate with the thrusters. Now if it was just silent...

Yeah, when we're inside the cockpit with the pilots I have no issue with sound (like when we could hear the cylon debris impacting Starbuck's canopy) but when we're floating in space & hearing the thruster vents & chain guns hammering away, that bugs me.

"In space, no one can hear you shoot other people." - me

And now I stole it from you:

Ain't it just?

Hell. Its special.

P.S. Thank you for being contentious. I feel better.

That's 'suggested interperative' sound layed in as a kindness for the non-Firefly fans, not literal recorded sound. If it were real sound, it would REALLY IRRITATE me too!
So I'm glad it's just 'suggested interperative' sound.

BTW, to the producers: there are no non-Firefly fans who watch your show; you can turn the 'suggested interperative' felgercarb off in future eps.

Chrisisall, LAUNCH!

Speaking as a former aircraft technician in Uncle Sams Traveling Air Circus ...

The point of which machine is better is one best left to the mechanics who maintain the beasts.

Ask the Chief about the PIP factor.

Raptor or Viper: Which is less likely to dump a gallon of hydralic fluid on you? Which is less likely to rip the backs of your knuckles off opening panels? Which is easier to crawl around inside of and bend your tibia and fibia in three places to get to what engineers should have put in an easier place at design stage.

Pilots will take out perfectly good aircraft (or spacecraft) and they'll come back broke. I don't want to hear about pulling G's and having Cylons shoot at you and nebula clouds mucking up your canopy. Frac that noise. Bring my machines back in good condition!!!

Ok I've started watching the eps I missed.

So far... man-warriors and -man-pilots are incompetent buffoons. Consistent. But thankfully we got chick fighter jocks flying vipers... we're all safe. At least I finally got a whole episode where people (all women) are fighting cylons instead of whining day and night about how dysfunctional and fucked up their lives are ("Scar ep.").

Oh. Then there's this. I kept seeing this when I was watching SG-1 and SG-A in commercials.

"Adama" quote: "I'm not gonna sacrifice a military asset on your altar of revenge."

WTF?? Pompous dialogue given to a man whose acting is (1) hideous, and (2) a pure fuckin sleeping pill.

Jesus. Who needs sedatives when you can record that line and play it over and over in an endless loop. I finally saw the fantabulous super-dooper ep where the terrorists take over the bar on Cloud-9 and E.J. Olmos has to break out all badass and make this pronouncement. What a fuckin disastrous retarded thing to write into the script. I can't believe these incompetent ass-clowns at scifi chan would dare put this in a commercial and force it down my throat again and again and again and again while I'm trying to watch the shows I love. Whores. All of them. What? The plug from the quote whores at "Rolling Stone" magazine didn't boost the ratings enough?

I guess not.

What's next? Hamlet starring "Gilbert Godfrey" and "Ben Stein"?

Dear Xerogravity,

I promised myself that I would ignore you but I really must thank you for clarifying things.

I get it. You don't like the new Galactica. Thank you for explaining it ad nauseum.

We're attempting to have a discussion about a show the others in this thread DO like.

Instead of being able to enjoy a discussion, we keep getting treated to you explaining to us how we're all stupid and how you don't enjoy the new Galactica.

We get it. You can go find something else to do now.

In the spirit of mutual cooperation, I'd like to give you just a bit of advice on how to win friends and influence people -- or how to just not irritate them beyond their ability to treat you as an adult.

Far be it from me to censor your speech; however, I would suggest finding some new words in your vocabulary.

Your extensive vocabulary has aided you in all of your ever so persuasive arguments. Just to let you know that the ability to form an intelligent argument without resorting to obscenity is an asset. I'd also like to ask if you kiss your grandmother with your mouth.

I'm bored tonight so I decided to kill 5 minutes by pasting all of your comments in this thread and running a check in word of the contents.

In your many needless posts, you have used:

Shit – 16 times
Fuck – 19 times
Whore - 20 times
Ass - 26 times
Bitch - 1 time
Gay (as a bigoted term) - 9 times
Dick - 2 times

Go on. Rip me up one side and down the other about how I'm oppressing you. Go on, Frau Nipples and the Nazi high-kicking scoobie gang or whatever it is you are ranting about this week, has given you permission to act like a Jr. High student with a magic marker and a whole bunch of bathroom walls at your disposal.

You, Xero, need a hobby real bad. Go find one and please, please, please, leave the discussion to folks who are actually discussing the show.

Where is Haken when you need to him stamp out a roach?

Go away. The roach motel has an open room booked for you.

XeroVonGravity,

What a bitter, little Hushpuppy you are! I guess they aren’t feeding you enough in that work-release program that you’re in.

Your dysfunctional review of BSG is as always…extreme and full of the same, old nonsense, and as usual, you sound like you are about to cry! Is BSG that bad for you? Get a clue! The episodes are well written, and all the actors and actresses they picked are good enough for the roles, though I do have some issues with Grace Park’s acting abilities, but that’s another story that I rather not get into right now. E.J. Olmos makes the perfect Admiral Adama. Lorne Green was okay playing Adama, but I prefer E.J. Olmos’s acting style better. It’s dry, low-key, and thoughtful, and most importantly, it’s believable. He looks like a commanding officer and he acts like one too. I think you are way into the late 70s view of things. You want a bunch of fair-haired looking Luke Skywalkers and cigar chomping, womanizing, Starbucks running around firing their blasters and rescuing a bunch of stupid, helpless females, who can’t do for themselves. You don’t like this show because not all the men are in charge of everything. The men on the show seem to be sharing power with the women and I think that is what really annoys you the most. I guess you are used to shows where the whole show is about a man’s ego and he’s central to the very plot of that show. Well, get over it and grow the hell up because the new Battlestar Galactica is here to stay. Time for you to join the modern world bubblehead.

The episodes are very well done, and the action and drama is the sort of thing that keeps us coming back for more. The show is a fine balance between the masculine and the feminine…there’s something for everyone in this new BSG. The new twists with the Cylons are great! I like them better than the original ones. The original Cylons were a complete bore, but I liked their base ship and their Raiders, but the whole “Imperious Leader” idea was stupid and childish, and only fit for Saturday morning television for children, or people with bubblegum for brains.

I know you want to keep the “Brady Bunch view of BSG, but its changed into a more interesting world so, just stick with your SG-1 shows, or that complete boxed set of Gilligan’s Island DVDs I know you have, and leave our show alone. Better yet, go over to the sci-fi boards, and go into the Battlestar Galactica forum and repeat there what you just wrote

I saw BSG before seeing Firefly on DVD.

I have enjoyed both immensley, although I feel that it is unfair to compare the 2 shows becuase they are both about a different subject matter. Sure they are both SciFi but the genre covers such a wide spectrum.

I have never felt that Digital and computer effects have been able to capture the authentic feel of old school photographic effects, the lighting never seems right however, the special effects guys have done a perfect job on Firefly & BSG, the best Digital effects I have seen so far.

So far as the content of both shows goes I think both have raised the mark. For a long time I have merely been a spectator, the only show in recent years that have enjoyed has been Star Trek Voyager but it wasn't enything that hadn't been seen already as it almost mirrored the original series.

BSG messes with your head, is can be slow at times and my only criticism is that it is too character focused with not enough emphasis on the mamoth journey being undertaken. Other than that the first thing I thought when I say BSG was "this is damn good" and this still holds true. I have just seen part 1 of the Pegasus episodes and the writers
have done a fantastic job, real edge of the seat stuff.

I started a thread titled "hasn't scifi got better lately? and everone who responded agreed.

The true acid test has been my wife, who usually only watches Friends, frazier, Desperate Housewives & Sex in the City. She hates SciFi with a passion (except for Star trek, she likes Pickard)She has been brought to tears by watching Firefly and has been aguing with me about wherther Adama is a Cylon, I also think that she fancies Lee Adama.

In conclusion, I love both. And whoever says otherwise has lost the plot.

"Where the hell did I leave those plans?"

There you go again. Reading absurd notions into what I write. I have no problem with women warriors (in fact, I find it kinda sexy). But is it necessary to emasculate every man in the show?

Ok. Like Apollo for example. Katie Sackhoff is buck nekkid, rarin to go, and ready to make a little thunder between the sheets. Apollo, Mr. limp-noodle, backs off at the last minute. Someone get this fool some viagra.

But I can relate in a way. There was that time when my boat sunk in the Carribean and I was rescued by a yacht filled with lingerie and swimsuit models. I had to spend the next few months being the only man onboard a pleasure craft entirely manned by nymphomaniac supermodels. It was hard to hold onto my virtue and chastity (for at least the 1st 15 minutes).

Believe me. You can't know the hellish torments I had to endure. Not to mention the perils of the sea. More than once I had to dive overboard to save one of the swimming models from a man-eating shark. Do you have any idea how hard it is to beat down a tiger shark with a martini glass? It ain't easy.

Ready to be shocked?

Just polished off the final 1/2 of season 2 finale. I will be tuning in for season 3. Holy shit. Hell froze over, pigs are flying, the sun has exploded, and Frau Knibblet stopped goose-stepping and started disco dancing. The whole world got silly. And there was much rejoicing.

Since Frau Nipples is my self-proclaimed opressor, I was all ready to form up a resistance movement. Frankly, I'm a little wet behind the ears when it comes to resisting opression. In fact, I didn't even know "she" was my oppressor, or that I was "oppressed", until she said so.

There is something very sexy and "tres shiek" about being oppressed. Why? Who cares. It just is.

I grew a long-ass beard, bought a 1950's Korean War set of Olive drab duds, I even started smoking cigars. I've moved onto an island and am living in the mountains ~ gonna recruit me some peasant guerilla fighters. I'm even gonna get that gorrilla-chick "Jane Goodall" to help me train them.

XG opression must end! Vive la non-XG opression.

Damn that's catchy.

Yes. I actually am coming around on the new BSG. It still sucks donkey balls on so many levels, but the last few eps FINALLY brought some seemingly directionless story arcs into focus. And Baltar just got kinda sleazy in a suddenly believable sort of way. Shit. I wanna hang out with him and debauche the ladies. Don't make me president cuz I would outdo him on how many lingerie-wearing bimbos I'd bring into the presidential office. It would be a "chicks gone wild" episode to rewrite the history books.

It's my second favourite show of all time, and like the title says, it's kinda dark. But it shows people surviving losses and pushing on, I guess that's why I like it. Plus- lots of cool fight scenes. The second season gets a little 'genetic anomoly' filled, but it's all good.
It's the best $70 (for both sets) I ever spent.

No. I'm not being a smartass.

But correct you are. She was only fishing for compliments with that picture.

She's obviously attractive, but posts her pic and whines about how ugly she "is".

You fit my theory of why there are so many jerks on the 'net. Cause it's the only place you can mouth off like that without gettin' the snot kicked out of ya.

River - is that picture you? If so: VERY ATTRACTIVE

Time for some thrilling heroics.

Attractive? OMG! You have such low standards! I don't think so! I thought it would be a good idea to let you jokers see the freak show which is myself, so you at least have an image to hate and loath, and shake your collective fists at. In the end, who really cares?

River

Nah, I just dig older women... ;) :p

Time for some thrilling heroics.

No it hasn't occured to me that you truly think that and I wouldn't believe it if you said so. I guess fake humility is better than having you run around saying "Don't hate me because I'm beautiful."

Only 2 types of men would find you unattractive. Richard Simmons-types and men who have au ugly-fetish.

There are actually men who have a thing for ugly chicks. It's actually quite a wise philosophy...

Marry an ugly chick. She'll never leave you, and if she does, who cares?

No such thing as gravity. The "Earth-that-was" just sucks.
