We don't need any more...

This is inspired by a comment in one of the newbie greeting threads, to wit: "If there's one thing we can always use more of, it's new Browncoats."
But here are a few things we don't need any more of...
- Reavers
- Blue hand guys
- Broke synchronizers
- Operatives
- Failed Alliance behavior-control experiments
- Key members of Parliament
- Husbands for YoSaffBridge
- Fox programming executives
- Flans who gloomily insist that FF/S is "done" or "over"
I'm guessing we can think of a few more...

We could use less of River's bouts of space sickness directed at loving siblings bedspreads. Yuck.

Damage to Jayne's right leg. Seems it's the only place he ever gets hurt.
Should have been amputated after that Reaver harpooning in Serenity.

I disagree...
we get rid of all the bad hurtful and evil stuff and Joss will just stop writing,
because you know it is ALWAYS all about the pain, and the death, and the general mayhem....
so bring on the blue hand guys (do they work for Blue Sun)?
bring on the members of Parliament (who want revenge...but of course from their POV it must be justified)
bring on any left over Reavers who were away from Miranda when .. well, you know...
I would like to meet a lot more of Saffron's husbands...
Jayne can tolerate an unlimited number of leg wounds (see how just pouring liquor over it healed the whole thing of having your leg skewered with a harpoon? amazing)
BRING IT ALL ON! (anything so long as we get our sequel soon...)

Embers,
You're right, of course... as fans we want to see all that and more, and more, and more.
But in real life, or if we were crewmen on Serenity in the 'verse, we wouldn't really want to see any of those things. That's the POV I was taking in the original post.

LOL
I get that...
but I'm just sayin' that in BtVS Joss once said that he'll never be writing about "the boring world of happy people"(!)

- Less lipstick-based woozy makers.
(but more hats made from trees!)
If you're Mal anyway.

oh, yeah, and as a fan, what we could definetly do with less,
- Shirts
FozzieWash, Hey, look! They're sending us free lumber!
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
...yes!, no more shirts on Mal, Simon or even gadzooks, Wash.
They can keep the suspenders(the old ones from the series, not rubbery ones from the movie)-would look a little different but sexy
NOTIFY: Y | REPLY | REPLY WITH QUOTE | PERMALINK | TOP | HOME
you're forgetting Jayne!
Jaynes ability to really emote and convey the more, ah... well.... attractive facets of his character would be vastly improved by the absence of a shirt.
But I am derailing the thread. Carry on...
From Kaylees pov, less
- Light power switches most of the way up that wall at the back of the engine room
- shooting at folks
From my pov, less
-needles!

Yes! Less shirts!
No shirts for Inara, Zoe and Kaylee. That would make the 'verse infinitely shinier. Heck, I'll even allow the guys can be shirtless too, so long as it's a coed deal.
Are you sure you're not Joss? 'Cause that was genius...
Pectorally,
zoid
P.S.
And should YoSaffBridge make a return, sauce for the goose, shirtwise...

So we are all agreed, Firefly would be infinitly improved by a sudden lack of shirts in the 'verse.
Well, thats all our problems solved! Morena Baccarin and Adam Baldwin shirtless? Fox will love it! Quick, someone get an exec on the line! We have to schedule a meeting!

Done. I'm having my girl phone their girl, so they can do lunch. Whatever they decide over a couple of Mimosas, we'll do. It's the Hollywood Way.
What good are shirts, anyway? I mean, all they do is cover up Morena's... Ummm, that is, they hide a person's... erm, characteristic mammalian physical features, uh... Ulp! I need to sit down for a sec. I'm suddenly very light-headed, for some reason.

We don't need any more -
Psychotic one eyed former Feds out to kill our Captain.
Characters we like dying.
Reasons to like the show ((But ten to your one we'll get em anyways.))
And most definately, less shirts.
p.s. Good question Zoid. Maybe because it makes us menfolk more pliable, less able to concentrate on the task at hand, etc. etc. and so forth.

We don't need
1) More people who think Stars Wars is better than Firefly (its good but not that good)
2) Trolls
3) People with no faith in the verse
4) Fox, Fox and more Fox
5) Trolls
We need
1) More Browncoats
2) More Jayne
3) More Firefly
4) More Serenity
5) Pitchforks for storming Fox HQ to steal to reclaim the Firefly rights.

Hmmmm how about a thread about blue handded operatives of parliment that after a failed allied experiment to fix broken syncronizers decide to sick reavers on fox programing executives and fans that insist that FF/S is "done" and constantly swoon over YoSaffBridge.
I think that thread would be good

I wonder, what those Alliance-Guys in their rubber-uniforms remind me of… I can´t remember right now. I only know, that I.A.V. “Dortmunder” might be a hint…
Whatever they look like: we don´t need any more of those space-balls-starship-troopers-and-star-wars-kind-of-leni-riefenstahl-fashioned-villains. The Nazis in Indiana Jones seemed to be deeper in characterization. Shame on you, Joss.

Perhaps you aren't aware that Firefly reused the Alliance soldier outfits from Starship Troopers as a cost-saving measure. If they're too storm trooperish for your taste, well, blame Verhoeven, not Joss.

Spoilers Ahead if one has not seen Buffy, Angel, or Firefly or Serenity yet.........go no further and pick up those DVD's now!!
We don't need any more of our shiny big damn heroes dying on any of Joss's shows. Can't count Buffy, Spike or Angel cause they all came back. I miss each and every one of them: Buffy: Jenny, Joyce, Tara, Anya. Angel: Doyle, Cordelia, Fred, Wesley, Darla, Lindsey, Lilah
Firefly/Serenity: Book & Wash
Special Mention: No more eye gouging, Xander deserves both his eyes. That was disturbing to watch.
No more gorram potential slayers.
No more gorram space pirates trying to take Serenity and trying to kill our crew.
I'm a leaf on the wind....Watch how I soar.
Wash: Captain, don't you know kissin' girls makes ya sleepy? Mal: Sometimes I just can't help myself.

Didn´t know that, DC. Shame On You, Paul!
But it´s not only about the fashion-side of things. The movie “Starship troopers” (as far as I remember) was a satire about american-style action movies and it also dealt with fashist symbols and the glorification of militarism. I believe that the movie was a satire about the book, written by the former graduate of the Naval Academy, Robert A. Heinlein. That´s why the movie Starship Troopers is such a masterpiece for me. The book might be on the reading list of the U.S. Army as well and although it won the Hugo award back in 1960 there´d always been a controversy about the novel being too simplistic and militaristic and the characters just being mouthpieces for the political believes of Heinlein.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Starship_Troopers
So, the Problem is, that in Starship Troopers you have flat and extremely good looking Beverly Hills 90210-Topmodels (which is intended by P. Verhoeven) and not complex characters like Mal, Kaylee or Wash in Firefly / Serenity. I understand, that Firefly is also a satire somehow. I love the series. But I think, the better the nasties, the bigger your chances to characterize those persons, who are really important. I think the nasties in Firefly lacked some credibility. I think that Joss might have had some similar thoughts, because he introduced this great alliance agent (The Operative) in the movie, who is a real big threat to the crew and also a very complex character with his own thoughts and believes.
So. Please forgive my harsh critique. It´s only a very small one and a sign for my overall love of the show. I also apologize for my (school-)English.
