Since there is a jayne-is-the-hero-tread around i figured the board could use a similar mal-centered thread... so here it is... just feel free to post your favorit situations or lines with mal....

I really loved the dialogue at the end of train-job when they are trying to get back the cargo and the sheriff gets them on the way back to town:

And my signature. I just love how he just stands up for Kaylee like that. It's actually the quote that reconnected me to the 'verse. After the show got canned I didn't have money for the DVDs so my Browncoat faded a bit for a while. Then when it reaired on the Sci-fi channel, that scene was what brought back into the 'verse. My Browncoat's all better now, bright and shiny. And of course now I have the DVDs.

there is one i really admire:

-The Sash!?
-It indicates lordhood!
-aaaand it does a great job at that!

not that it is an extraordinary line, but the way it is played, its just terribly good!!!!
you know it gives you the feel that for the first time in the whole series malcom reynolds meets someone who he has to convince of himself and not like most of the time he just feels "better than" others.

how was this conversation going? i dont know it exactly any more but it must have been something like:

-I have a problem with your attitude, with you thinking that you are better that other people.
-only the people i am better than

I loved the way that was played, like it was the most logical argument in the world. Also, of course:

Since I'm not uptight, this just cracked me up, rather than offending me. I've never met an uptight Buddhist, actually, but if they exist, you know they woulda took that all wrong. I just thought it was funny. He does bear a strking resemblance to Santa, after all.

And, in the pilot, where he doesn't even think or hesitate, just shoots Dobson's eye out! Classic!

I've only seent he episode once, but it was real funny. I think it went something like this:

Saffron: I heard of a place where men don't appreciate their wives.
Mal: Now look, I'm not that. If anyone was to try and harm you well you kill them right back.

Mal's own little comforting words of reason. Gotta love it.
