Actually, this isn't against DA rules. Hotlinking is against DA rules, not linking. If a user is direct linking to the website's files to use its bandwith, then they're violating rules. Not when they're just posting a link to the deviation or DA account.

Hotlinking - "An example would be using an < img > tag to display a deviation so it will appear on your own site."

Although, these messageboards automaticlly will show pictures without img tags. But if the user had used an < img > tag and used the Deviantart link, to directly show the picture in the thread... THAT is hotlinking. That would be against DA policy.

At least I'm pretty sure. I did a search of the Deviantart FAQ, and couldn't find anything more. So correct me if I'm wrong. But I don't see why it would be a problem to simply provide a link TO the deviation.

And yes, I am a member of deviantart :) But I wouldn't report this person because they aren't doing anything wrong.
